Worldwide Travel Alert
Only worldwide? No word on whether we should also limit interplanetary exploration.
Look, I understand that if we give in to the notion that ISIS is doing something important then THE TERRORISTS WIN, but - and call me selfish - not getting my ass shot off by a jihadist remains important to me. Not having my family, friends and fellow citizens shot down or blown up also remains a priority.
Great to see Obama has this all buttoned down as my family members travel hither and yon on the holidays.
"“The most powerful tool we have to fight ISIL is to say that we’re not afraid."
Oh for the good old days when our weapon of choice was shopping.

Isn't this just an update? The last warning ended yesterday, so it was renewed today.
Posted by: Paula | November 24, 2015 at 12:43 AM
I want to know how seriously I should take this warning, as my daughter is traveling to England in a few weeks.

Where did you get the map from, and what does the red lines mean, jm?

Has this post been Instalanched yet?
Guess I'll have to read the damn thing to find out why not@#$

--To not elevate them and to somehow buy into their fantasy that they’re doing something important.--
What kind of a dumbass fool says something that childish and divorced from reality?
Taking over half of two key strategic countries in a little over a year and spreading their tentacles through affiliates in many more isn't something important?
It's obviously nothing compared to shanking a nine iron or screwing up every single NCAA bracket but it does seem like it might take up a bit of his sorry ass time.

TM,
When I click on your top link to ABC News it says the following:
We'll be right back.
We are currently experiencing issues with this page. Please try again later.
Maybe Obama threatened them. I thought they weren't allowed to be afraid?

narciso:
The "map" came from Visual Complexity, a fascinating collection of projects addressing the graphic visualization of complex systems, launched a decade ago.
The image I used actually derives from an ostensible work of art, mapping the putative "language and behaviour" of Vanda Orchids on an XBox, assuming I've interpreted the artistic doublespeak correctly. I have no clue what the red & green lines mean. :-)

They checked the ISIS Outlook calendar and there's nothing scheduled past 2-23-16.

The most powerful tool we have to fight ISIL is.......January 20, 2017.
Posted by: Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki | November 24, 2015 at 01:31 AM
Okay. So we're not allowed to be afraid, or the terrorists will have won. Got it.
But I've just been notified by the company that Security says we're not allowed to have any liquids, aerosols, or gels in our luggage, so I think that means I can't carry toothpaste, or a bottle of wine, or even a jog of Scotch to share with Miss Marple.
I'm pissed@#$
Is it okay to be pissed, or have the Terrorists won if we're pissed, too?
How about disgruntled?
Annoyed?
Here's a better question: What emotion do we have to have in order to be winning?

Igster, sir. Thou art brilliant!

“The most powerful tool we have to fight ISIL is to say that we’re not afraid."
FDR said it better, but it isn't any truer now than it was then, and wasn't then.
"To not elevate them and to somehow buy into their fantasy that they’re doing something important.”
Yeah, because they're just like annoying toddlers. Sheesh. I am so sick of this "giving terrorists what they want" bullshit. Who cares what they want? Just give 'em hell, and git 'r done.

Ditto daddy, Ignatz!

FDR's fear remarks were about the Depression--the economic stagnation that his policies prolonged, IMO.

“The most powerful tool we have to fight ISIL is to say that we’re not afraid."
I was just reminded while watching Gretta tonight on FOX, that our brave Commander in Chief was too afraid to fly to France to march with other World Leaders after the Charlie Hebdo murders, and he couldn't even get his brave Attorney General Eric Holder to join the march either, even though that 'fraidy-cat' was in Paris at the time.
US media questions why neither Barack Obama nor top US officials attended Paris Charlie Hebdo rally---
Barack Obama did not attend the Paris Charlie Hebdo rally, nor were any of his top US administration officials among the 44 foreign dignitaries
Fox News host Greta Van Susteren tweeted: "This is really embarrassing – WHERE IS PRESIDENT OBAMA? Why didn't he go?"
"Sad that 50 world leaders could show solidarity in Paris but President Obama refused to participate. The cowardice continues," tweeted Newt Gingrich, former speaker of the US House of Representatives, who sought the Republican presidential nomination in 2012.
The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

" Why didn't he go?"
IMO, the reason is clear.

Good Morning! Safe travels if you are on the road. We're going to my mother-in-law's tomorrow. Unless a terrorist tries to cross the border at Fort Kent, Maine/Clair,N.B. we should be safe. : )
CH mentioned Hobbler yesterday. I looked out my kitchen window yesterday afternoon and saw three deer grazing in the backyard. The little Bambi was so cute.
So,Turkey shot down a Russian jet. Now what?
Posted by: Marlene | November 24, 2015 at 07:19 AM
You want fear? I will give you fear. Turkey downed a Russian jet fighter and Putin has been quoted as calling it a "stab in the back". At least one of the two pilots shot and killed by forces on the ground, active helicopter search underway for the second apparently. NATO to meet today.
Watch the price of oil this AM. Would a conflict with Russia have any impact on its price?

And they were showing crimson tide, just yesterday.

I want to know what happens if Turkey invokes Article 5.
Besides Obama hiding under his bed.

Obama will join Mark Dayton underneath his desk, cowering in fear...

Why don't the "Syrian refugees" use that POWERFUL tool?
