The NY Times editors, in their crusade against guns, will be linking for support to The Onion any day now.
But for now we have to settle for what they have given us (but do note the correction four months later): I am not sure how to preserve it; a screen shot won't capture the linked URL. But let's have the setup and Punchline:
To listen to the insistent harangues of many gun-rights advocates, one might imagine that the Second Amendment prohibits almost any regulation of firearms.
Fortunately, a majority of the Supreme Court disagrees. On Monday, the court declined to hear a challenge to a Chicago suburb’s law banning semiautomatic assault weapons and magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition.
As a result, our glorious Federal system allows states and cities to seize the day, or even your guns:
That is a lot of links so you know they have done their homework. Or at least, their Googling. Too bad they left common sense at the door with their "ammunition" link, which leads to this site:
Is it true - did our nation's largest state sneak an ammunition ban past everyone?
Well, not per Snopes:
As .45 ACP ammunition is enormously popular, the article immediately caused a furor in gun and ammunition forums and on social media.
Some were taken in initially, particularly since the article was also published under the now-suspended spoof web address NYTimes.com.co, but commenters quickly discovered that the story was a hoax.
NationalReport.net is a satire site. Its disclaimer page reads:
I don't want to know what the disclaimer reads (although I peeked and its funny); why should I be better informed than Times editors?
But I'll pass along a pro tip - when I encounter a source with which I am utterly unfamiliar delivering news I have heard nowhere else, I try to remember to check the front page:
certainly there was little notion of planning to London,

There's an interesting story in today's NYT about how outside of Beijing they've built a city called "Jackson Hole" where they've reproduced large wooden houses that look like those in Wyoming which quotes Chinese residents saying they want to live like Americans in big houses with yards (and presumably in suburbs)
Clarice,
In Guangzhou (Canton) they built an artificial mini-European City called The Dragon Lake Hotel Complex
Looks quaint, don't it.
Our guys were stuck there initially for a year or so if we were saddled with the dreaded "Hotel Standby" period, (that's where you have long periods where you can't drink and you can't really go anywhere because you have to be close enough to the airport where if they call you out you can show up at the plane in about 30-45 minutes. Anyway, this place was fairly near the airport and way out of town, so no fun could be had, and as this place was basically totally empty it had the feel of the old Brit TV Show "The Prisoner" with Patrick Magoohan, so that's what we nicknamed it:

We had our own designated Chinese "handler-girls" who would come running and escort us around this large abandoned place and set up meals and massages and the usual, but eventually it drove our guys nuts, and following heavy bitching and some complaint of water contamination in the manmade lake, we finally got out of having to be imprisoned there any longer, so now we are either downtown (if lucky) or imprisoned at the hotel at the airport (if unlucky).
I was only stuck at the Dragon one time thankfully, as I hate Hotel Standby so I never bid it, and I'm senior enough to usually avoid that odious duty.
My guess is there's a few more of these abandoned Western-style villages dotted around the country, and someday they may come in handy should they need re-education camps.

I expect, the gun control program will not survive the first court challenge, daddy.
Clarice,
Levin's point was not that Obama's move wasn't un-Constitutional, (it is) his point was that hardly anyone in the MSM is railing about it being un-Constitutional. If it had been Reagan or Bush or W or anybody with an "R" on their back doing the same thing the MSM would all have gone ballistic, but instead they hammer Trump for his un-Constitutional comments nonstop, while completely ignoring the ongoing un-Constitutional edicts coming out of the White House on almost a weekly basis.

Long time family owned business, TK.
I have to question whether Trump has bought guns from them. They do sell a few guns [I may have bought a barreled action or two from them] but far, far and away the bulk of their business is gun replacement parts, custom parts and gunsmithing tools.
Posted by: Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki | December 11, 2015 at 10:48 PM
Well, daddy, there's no need to repeat the obvious about disparate treatment..but as I said years ago when they first started fluffering for Obama, they're going down with him, and they are.
As for the abandoned developments, Jackson Hole is not a megalopolis--it's a western style old west development and its fully occupied with people who arrive in their suvs. Some wanted it as a weekend place (rich), but some have found they like american style living so much, they've moved there year round. Ot's about an hour from Beijing.

Clarice, Cecil had a good comparison between Obama;s "must act now" when he was sure a bitter clinger was the shooter and "beware of backlash" when it turned out to be Islamic.
The other thing with that is how Obama & the Dems run to stand with Imams at mosques. It is the one culture/religion/ideology that gets official protection when one of Islam's believers commits terrorism or a crime.
"The Democrats set to attend include Reps. Don Beyer (D., Va.), Joseph Crowley (D., N.Y.), Betty McCollum (D., Minn.), Eleanor Holmes Norton (D., D.C.), and several Virginia state lawmakers, according to the New York Times." - http://freebeacon.com/national-security/democrats-to-attend-prayer-service-at-radical-mosque/

"The exchange between Judith Curry, Mark Steyn, and Senator Markey will likely be remembered as one of those compelling moments in which the alarmists and their extremist environmental accomplices lost control of the debate. In terms of the theater, nothing is more dramatic than witnessing a respected scientist(backed by a talented polemicist) force an ideological windbag to confront the shallowness of his beliefs.
Markey, to his credit, did not flee the room. But he probably should have."
