The NY Times editors, in their crusade against guns, will be linking for support to The Onion any day now.
But for now we have to settle for what they have given us (but do note the correction four months later): I am not sure how to preserve it; a screen shot won't capture the linked URL. But let's have the setup and Punchline:
To listen to the insistent harangues of many gun-rights advocates, one might imagine that the Second Amendment prohibits almost any regulation of firearms.
Fortunately, a majority of the Supreme Court disagrees. On Monday, the court declined to hear a challenge to a Chicago suburb’s law banning semiautomatic assault weapons and magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition.
As a result, our glorious Federal system allows states and cities to seize the day, or even your guns:
That is a lot of links so you know they have done their homework. Or at least, their Googling. Too bad they left common sense at the door with their "ammunition" link, which leads to this site:
Is it true - did our nation's largest state sneak an ammunition ban past everyone?
Well, not per Snopes:
As .45 ACP ammunition is enormously popular, the article immediately caused a furor in gun and ammunition forums and on social media.
Some were taken in initially, particularly since the article was also published under the now-suspended spoof web address NYTimes.com.co, but commenters quickly discovered that the story was a hoax.
NationalReport.net is a satire site. Its disclaimer page reads:
I don't want to know what the disclaimer reads (although I peeked and its funny); why should I be better informed than Times editors?
But I'll pass along a pro tip - when I encounter a source with which I am utterly unfamiliar delivering news I have heard nowhere else, I try to remember to check the front page:
Nice catch TM!
Posted by: henry | December 11, 2015 at 05:47 PM
But...Politifact says "mostly true."
Well, they will. Because California does want to ban some types of ammunition.

I often wonder about how obscure things suddenly show up everywhere. It's not just the internet, either.
Back in the 80's no one had ever heard of Gilbert and Sullivan. Suddenly, their music was in movies (Chariots of Fire), on TV (some British series I can't remember the name of) and Linda Ronstadt made an album.
I never forgot that, because it seemed so odd to me.

My favorite comment:
"To the Opinion Writer: Is this part of that plan by the old elite republicans to destroy Trump? Dream this up in a cigar smoke filled room while sipping brandy at the Harvard Club, did you? I can hear them; "That's it Eureka! We can link him to the mob." That should do it even though everything else has failed so far.
Mr. Opinion Man: this is so pathetic. You want someone like "John Boy" Rubio. Great! His father was a bartender. And he's been on a some Senate committee and learned a whole bunch in 2 or 3 years. Yep. That should trump Donald's a long successful business career of actually building something, or rather many things. Always getting the job done. Managing billions of dollars and thousands of employees and really building America.
Shameful to try to tar him with the Mafia brush. Like all the other attempts this should fail because we (the people) see right through it."

Wells was awfully optimistic in some parts of his prophecy 'the Shape of Things to Come'
The abolition of Islam is carried out by the Air Police, who "descend upon Mecca and close down the main holy places", apparently without major incident. Eventually, Islam disappears, its demise accelerated by the decay of Arabic and its replacement by "an expanded English". Some twenty mosques survive, deemed to be worthy of preservation on architectural grounds. The Lebanese-American scholar George Nasser remarked on this aspect of Wells' book: "In the 1979 imagined by HG Wells, a self-appointed ruling elite composed mainly of Westerners, with one Chinese and one Black African and not a single Arab member, would establish itself in the Arab and Muslim city of Basra and calmly take the decision to completely extinguish and extirpate the Muslim religion... In the 1979 of real history, Khomeini's Islamic Republic of Iran came into being".[2][page needed]

Clarice,
I thought the points Mark Levin made at the beginning of Hour 2 of his Radio program today were excellent. He started by mentioning the story today about the un-Constitutionality of Obama's decision to have his staff whip up some new Gun-Control program so he could sign it and implement and damn the Constitution, yet there will be no mention by the MSM whatever of this being un-Constitutional. [(AP) Obama's Advisors are finalizing a proposal that would expand background checks on gun sales without Congressional Approval]
Levin contrasted the acquiescence to Obama's Un-Constitutionality with the continual 24/7 onslaught by the same MSM (and most of the Republicans) in damning Trump for his un-Constitutional comments re: Islamic Immigration.
My guess is you probably don't listen often to Levin, but if you are searching for ideas, simply click here on his program today, and when the show pops up in a small side window, expand that window and click on over to about the 37 minute, 30 second mark, and give his hour 2 opening rant about a 10 minute listen. 12/11/15 - Mark Levin Audio Rewind
I find Levin insightful and depressingly accurate, and I'm thinking more and more Americans find him that way every day as well.
