Captain Hate

So All Criminals Love Us has finally found a scuzzbucket too embarrassing to keep in place? When will they find their voices about 404's obviously unconstitutional assault on the right to bear arms?

Curry bites, Steyn growls, and Markey barks.

Here's pottereaton whom I call the Duke, over @ Judy's:

"The exchange between Judith Curry, Mark Steyn, and Senator Markey will likely be remembered as one of those compelling moments in which the alarmists and their extremist environmental accomplices lost control of the debate. In terms of theater, nothing is more dramatic than witnessing a respected scientist(backed by a talented polemicist) force an ideological windbag to confront the shallowness of his beliefs.

Markey, to his credit, did not flee the room. But he probably should have"

Can't have that.

What? People are skeptical? Just start shooting those kind of people.

Jack is Back! (On Alert!)

kim,

Is there any video of that Steyn, Currie tag team bout with Markey?

BTW, I just found the noisiest damn city in America last night.

I'm sure Loretta Lynch will be investigating this incitement to violence against a candidate.

Even measured by the universe of politicians, Markey is a boob. If Dickie Durbin and Sheldon Whitehouse are 10s on a 1-10 scale of politician boobism, Markey makes the meter go to 10, and the meter then explodes.

Thanks for the 8:48 video link. Skipping through it you get a sense that these bozo senators are no match for Steyn. Damn if that guy isn't brilliant especially as a counter-puncher. From that AP link;

In what would be a victory for small island nations, the draft includes a section highlighting the losses they expect to incur from climate-related disasters that it's too late to adapt to. However, a footnote specifies that it "does not involve or provide any basis for any liability or compensation" - a key U.S. demand because it would let the Obama administration sign on to the deal without going through the Republican-led Senate.

So is this another meaningless scrap of paper, a clever method to cripple us without actually being a treaty or is it a treaty that they call something else?
If we are actually bound to cut our emissions and harm ourselves how is it not a treaty requiring Senate approval?

You have to trace out the authority which resulted in CO2 becoming a pollutant to get to the answer. The statutory delegation to the EPA resulted in a Nine Monkey decision which won't be reversed until a President signs a statute removing CO2 from being considered a pollutant.

The US is not bound to the Paris flim flam any more than it is bound to the Kyoto agreement and that will become clear when Congress refuses to fund.

Ignatz: Obama will just be following in Clinton's footsteps. That would be former president, who signed the Kyoto Protocols, but knew enough not to submit them to the Senate for ratification. Clinton, of course, never tried to implement the Kyoto measures unilaterally, either. My nomination for most fatuous -- yet revealing -- paragraph is this one:Countries would also be committed to limiting the amount of greenhouse gases emitted by human activity to the same levels that trees, soil and oceans can absorb naturally, beginning at some point between 2050 and 2100. To achieve that goal, scientists say, the world will have to stop emitting greenhouse gases altogether in the next half-century. Yeah, that's gonna happen. My question is how China, with the world's second largest economy (and apparently in first place if we're talking "purchasing power parity") still gets to play by developing country rulz? Talk about getting out-negotiated. But never mind all that, today's the day you're Gonna Have a Good Time, right? Happy Birthday to you!

Cecil - Yes, refugees. I was thinking more of the private polling done by the political parties ... Much more expensive but also more accurate.

But, he must be desperate indeed to publically agree, in any sense, with the words of Trump.

The consultants must have been telling him that the polls said he could not afford to be on the wrong side of this issue.

These non treaty agreements, which are nowhere mentioned in the constitution are at least as egregious as the abuse of EOs and yet no one mentions their extra-legality.

Jazz at Hot Air covers the story of two off duty cops being turned away at a concert because they were carrying (in accordance with police department policy):

http://hotair.com/archives/2015/12/12/armed-off-duty-officers-told-to-leave-concert-in-kentucky/

A concert at The Louisville Palace, featuring some of country music’s biggest stars, hit a sour note when off-duty police officers were not allowed inside Wednesday night.

The reason? The officers had their weapons.

The off-duty officers said they were abiding by department policy by keeping their weapons on them. They were told they could disarm, or leave, and they left. The issue now has Louisville Metro Police Chief Steve Conrad weighing in.

The Live Nation concert at the Palace featured some of country music’s hottest acts such as Chris Stapleton and Trace Adkins. The officers, who were there with their wives or girlfriends, were excited to see the show.

mrs hit and run and I just went to a Live Nation concert in Raleigh last week. Dusting Lynch, Hell of a Night.

Good show.

Live Nation keeps sending me emails about upcoming concerts and for whatever reason, it thinks I might make a trip to Louisville...er, probably not.

But, he must be desperate indeed to publically agree, in any sense, with the words of Trump.

Practically the entire GOP supported the SAFE act (House Republicans: 242 yea, 2 nay, 2 NV) well before Trump floated the no muslim immigrant thing.

But I guess it's not news unless Trump said something about it.

The statutory delegation to the EPA resulted in a Nine Monkey decision which won't be reversed until a President signs a statute . . .

One of many such delegations. And Obama may have done the country a favor: he certainly highlighted the abuse that could result from Congress abrogating its responsibility to legislate. (And hopefully they'll do something about it.)

A really disappointing review of Ted Cruz' Climate Hearing -- mostly targeting the poor logistics, which included failing to arrange C-Span coverage. I wondered about that, when I was trying to figure where/if I could watch the proceedings. I didn't realize that coverage was a proactive deal. Hopefully, Cruz will pass the video along to somebody who can salvage some decent passages and sound bytes for further use.

Waiting for it to get into the forties before taking my walk. In the meantime this Zerohedge post is pretty entertaining.
Recalls that it was Bear Stearns' junk bond ops which kicked off the financial meltdown in 2007.
Now, eight years later another hedge fund invested in high yield instruments just "gated" itself preventing redemptions. Guess who founded it. Yep, the guys who lost their jobs helping to bankrupt Bear Stearns with high yield junk.
Bonus cameo of Jim Cramer making a fool of himself for the umpteenth time.

Jazz Shaw on the Paris climate capers.
Features this tidbit from CNN;

Countries must agree by consensus. Organizers hope countries will adopt the proposal but there could be some nations that don’t go along. It will be up to the COP21 president to decide whether there’s an agreement.

After the vote in Paris, the countries that adopt the agreement will later have to ratify it nationally.

Connecting some dots on Drudge, we've got Bernie Sanders "Blasting Campaign’s ‘Blackout’ in Corporate Media," and The Nation, everybody's favorite socialist rag, going after Hillary for "Whitewashing the Financial Catastrophe." Then we have the AP reporting that Trump and Carson have "until about March to launch independent or third-party campaigns, experts said." Hmm. Wouldn't Sanders make a great 3rd party guy? He was never actually a Democrat in the first place, was he?

jimmyk on iPhone

--Even Jeb tweeted last night “We should have a temporary ban on refugees coming here until it’s clear that there aren’t any terrorists embedded.” --

Mrs. Farook wasn't a refugee, so the problem goes a bit deeper. And conversely a lot of potential refugees are not Muslims. That piece that someone linked recently about Christians from the ME being denied refugee status, if true, was the most outrageous thing I've read in years. It reminded me of when they went after that family from Germany who wanted to home school their kids, but here it's life and death. I hate this administration with all my heart.

So did those accented men pay cash for the burner phones and propane tanks? There must be security footage too. It would be nice if some intrepid journalists could tear themselves away from Trump or Hillary and actually follow this story, as it seems rather important.

Jim Miller

JMHanes - There was actually some discussion as to whether Sanders would be allowed on the Democratic primary ballot in New Hampshire. Luckily for Sanders, Vermont does not have voter registration by party, and he has been careful, since his YPSL days, to avoid being an official socialist. (Or card-carrying, as we used to say.)

Incidentally, several of his early races were against both Democrats and Republicans.

(Here's a discussion of his ideology that I wrote in October.)

If you found Ignatz's ZH link interesting, this post will be worth reading.

IMO - the Abengoa BK (which triggered a CDS event) was an inflection point. I would toss in the IMF's action in ignoring Ukraine's default on its Russian loans in order to pump more money down the Ukraine rat hole as another. The IMF money will be used to pay Ukraine's Russian gas bill. Russia's decision to enforce cash in advance terms for gas delivery to Ukraine (and EUtopia) is completely justified in view of the IMF actions.
