Wilson looks like another leftie, East Coast twit to me. No wonder the GOP is in the state he is in.

Silver backed currency a puff of smoke.

Listening to liberal feminists defend Bill Clinton back in the day was a big shock for me.

Beasts of England

The leftards know that the media and their distaff sycophants will cover for them, so there's really no incentive for them to behave like gentlemen. And speaking of which, who was the second slice of the cocktail waitress sandwich with Teddy?

p.s., ugly weather predicted for large swaths of the southeast today. I stick with my: too still, too humid, too warm rubric when I first go outside on these days. It was quite still, but not as muggy or warm as is usually indicated for tornados. I hope I'm correct and that the weather dudes and dudettes are over-hyping the threat...

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

The left is a massive projection factory.

Of course they have a sexual harassment problem. They have an anger problem and a racism problem and a sexism problem and a greed problem and a domestic violence problem and a drug problem and a you name it they got it problem...

The projector always protects himself by laying his faults at the door of others and then pointing to his accusation laying there on his neighbor's doorstep as if it's a fact.
The man looking for the mote in his neighbor's eye is a universal theme but those who shout the loudest about their neighbor's mote are usually the ones with the largest plank of their own.

Jack is Back (but On Alert)!

Archie Bunker's Eulogy.

And so it goes, do si does.

Tornadoes, tropical cyclones, and all categories of extremities of weather have moderated slightly lately(century scale). But all you'll hear is caterwauling about the anthropogenic weirding of weather from our illicit, to be criminal, activity of fossil CO2 release, which have in fact possibly contributed to the ameliorating of extremes from the decreased polar/equatorial temperature gradient, and of course, don't mention the plant food, currently feeding an extra billion people, and more to come.

The narrative requires fear and guilt, though, in order to concentrate power and treasure.

Snow, snow on the Range.

If you are in that top six you must then be in the top five in either IA or NH.

My recommendations are far less “congenial” than Frum’s, because the elites would have to place their fellow Americans’ welfare above their own vanity, power, and quarterly dividend statements. I’m not advocating a temporary pose to trick the yahoos, but a change in heart, mind, and direction. The party bosses must admit that much of the work they do in Washington is either useless or counter-productive.

Even worse, they need to admit that, at least on a few issues, the “yahoos” were right.

Signed,

A yahoo.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

--the science is far from settled--

Comment disappeared let me try again;

I don't think they care it's not settled because they just know whatever new stuff they discover will always support their theory.
In fact I believe that is what they mean. Not "we now know enough to confirm our basic theory so the science is settled" but "the science is settled because we have settled on where the science will invariably lead = our theory is confirmed."

buccaneer morgan

Good news Lyle.

What gets me about these alarmists dodges is that if they tried this sort of legerdemain in actual scientific fields like Physics, Chemistry, or Biology, or tried this in any real mathematical discipline they would be laughed of the stage and kicked off of faculty. But in the loony and corrupt worlds of modern, Nomenklatura "science", they are considered heroic "seekers of truth", and those who demand rational explanations are derided as cretins.

I know a quite excellent mathematician at one of our major scientific research universities, and I have asked him about the competency of some of these people, people he once taught math to. Now he is not a scientist, but a quite famous working mathematician. He has had some teaching duties or the years, and he tell me that in his opinion the math background of these "climate scientists" are worse than mediocre--that is why they are in "climate science" in the first place; they cannot handle the competition in real fields. I surely do believe him.

It is quite a horrid spectacle. "Leaders" of politics and "science" hatching a complete lie and then fabricating over and over more lies to cover it.

They may actually win in the short term on their agenda, but it will become increasingly clear what the game is as time goes on. Once a new generation gets in and starts real scientific work with the data the truth will out.

Then again, perhaps this marks the end of science as a objective intellectual discipline.

It is a sad state of affairs that the elites push forward such obvious falsehoods.

The fact that they cannot understand the very real damage they will do to science as an institution and discipline shows that they are thoroughly immoral. They care not what they damage in the process. Science in the end will suffer for this, and they do not care one but about this.

James D.

That makes sense, OL. After all, they often "act stupidly" according to our President.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

To be fair there are some objective, careful climate scientists who are hampered in much the same way cancer researchers are; they are in an extremely complex area and have only a rudimentary understanding of much of it. Those guys are seldom heard from and too modest and humble to mouth off or be used by someone's agenda.
If they do speak up just to try and bring a little sense and reason to things they are demonized and defamed as Judith Curry has been.
Unfortunately that leaves the field open for the ideologues and hacks like Mann, Hansen, Schmidt et al to hawk their bromides and swim, remora like, with the political and environmental sharks.

jimmyk

What gets me about these alarmists dodges is that if they tried this sort of legerdemain in actual scientific fields like Physics, Chemistry, or Biology, or tried this in any real mathematical discipline they would be laughed of the stage and kicked off of faculty.

Sadly this crap happens in economics among the true believers in Obamanomics. Remember "jobs created or saved"? That was basically a dodge that said, "We've decided how many jobs the stimulus will produce. If we don't see those numbers in actual job growth, then we'll just call the shortfall 'jobs saved.'" Meaning that they alter the counterfactual to get the result they pre-determined.

Bill Kristol: ‘We’ll Have to Start’ New Party If Trump Wins Nomination

lyle

Dear Bill,

We already want a new party. It remains to be seen if we want you in it.

Cordially,

A yahoo.

Miss Marple

daddy,

Let me tell you a few things about Bill Kristol:
1. His roommate at Harvard was Alan Keyes.
2. His first choice of who should run for president in 2000 was Colin Powell.
3. In 2000, when Powell wouldn't run, he switched to John McCain.
4.Kristol is adept at stirring up trouble. When the China spy plane incident was settled without guns fired or people held hostage for a prolonged period, he wrote an article on how his former favorite, Colin Powell, was stupid. It was called "Our Profound national Humiliation."
5. He was Dan Quayle's Chief of Staff, and was the one who encouraged him to disagree with President Bush publicly.

So, excuse me if I don't trust Bill Kristol. He is stirring up trouble again and I don't appreciate it.

buccaneer morgan

Whigs are already taken, Kristol.

jimmyk

It would seem much more apropos if Kristol said "We'll have to start a new party if Hillary wins the presidency." No doubt he thinks that's inevitable if Trump gets the nomination, but really it's only if GOPe-ers like him bail.

Long before that, the phrase made an appearance in New York City collegiate politics. The Daily Mail uncovered a 1967 article in the student newspaper of the City College of New York in which Ellen Turkish, a candidate on the losing slate for student council, said, “We got schlonged.” (As Ellen T. Comisso, she would go on to a distinguished career as a political scientist.)

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

That Kristol article kristolizes perfectly what we're dealing with.
Conservatives are forever lectured on their duty to sit idly by while a Ford, GHWB, McCain, Romney, and to a lesser extent W, ignore conservatism, but let a Cruz or a Trump (or Goldwater) come along who doesn't pay lip service to these slime ball, duplicitous GOPes and they're ready to throw every spanner into the works they need to, all the way up to crashing and burning the entire party.

That's why no matter how untrustworthy or blabbermouthed Trump gets he will always be preferable to the establishment; there is a chance Trump might do the right thing. There is zero chance the GOPe will. None. Not one.

And make no mistake, the GOPE isn't afraid Trump will either win or lose. What they're most terrified of is being seen as members of the same club as Trump and Cruz, and Reagan before them; the uncool guys who the kewl kids who throw the best parties laugh at. Washington DC is high school on steroids and the GOPe is the borderline dork the Reggies and Veronicas will tolerate so long as they know their place and keep it.
In fact as I think about it, what we now have is a compromise worked out by the Dems and the GOPe that consists of a form of the unbreakable Democratic majority pre Newt. Hastert, Boehner and now Ryan, even though they are Speakers and in the majority, function largely as the amiable, useless toady Bob Michel did thirty years ago; a sort of Vichy Republican, bearing the name but actually working on behalf of and with the permission of the Dems against their own ostensible constituents.

If it ever comes to ropes and lampposts I hope the GOPes will have enough brains to know why their feet no longer reach the ground...but I doubt it.
