Was that the first question?

Jack is Back (but On Alert with his Percocet and Prune Juice )

From the last thread on the Mercer profile. In NYC they live in the Trump Palace on the west side:)

henry

They will exhume Torcelli. He has experience in late substitution for indicted candidates.

NK

If Bernie knocks off Hilligula, there is no way to derail the Bernie Express, the Dems will be stuck with him as the nominee. The cronies are already flocking to him, see Steyer.

narciso

Bloomberg doesn't allow for financiers, that are '
not 'of the body'

NK

BTW-- I think TomM has the percentages all wrong here. If Comey pushes for indictment, ValJar/OFA and the cronies make their move and go for the Clintonista jugular right now. Seriously, if Bernie can knock off Hilligula and BJC is electoral poison with under 50 women because of his serial predations, what electoral juice do the Clintons have? They will be ripe for OFA decapitation and a one way ticket to pardonville and the dog track. And the FBI and DoS IG will do all of the dirty work for ValJar, it's a beautiful thing for OFA. I think the odds of them going for the indictment/Clintonista destruction are way above 50% right now.

henry

NK, keep an eye on whether valjar gets control of the Clintoon foundation checkbook out of this... it's grifters all the way down.

Threadkiller

I have never been convinced Hil wanted to be President anyways. She wanted the free tour of the country and all the campaign dough she could amass.

Thomas Collins

The Hill's lawyers are no doubt negotiating her exit from the POTUS race now. If I were part of Team Hill's legal team, I would be inclined to press hard for a pardon now and not rely on the Choomer to do the deed after the election and before his term ends. The risk is if she pushes too hard, Choomer will say to Lynch go ahead and indict. I think it's gotten to the point to where the spin machine can't cover this up.

I don't think Choomer pressing his rump swaps to demote Petraeus is to scare DOJ away from indicting The Hill. I think Choomer doesn't want to be viewed as forcing The Hill out of this race while letting a male, Petraues, keep his pension in full. I know the two aren't really comparable, because The Hill has no entitlement to be POTUS, but Choomer has to worry about optics, and Team Clinton is still well connected.

DebinNC

Forgiving O'Malley his "all lives matter" sin seems a better option than going with Bernie.

Thomas Collins

NK's 12:13 PM illustrates why The Hill may not have a lot of leverage. Choomer may conclude it's good politics to let an indictment go forth.

Papa

Wouldn't a Nixonian style Presidential pardon fix everything? Would that scenario also make Hillary unelectable?

Thomas Collins

Minus 500? Jeeeezzzzuuuusss, TK, I know you think Peyton's HGH will beat Brady's balls, but isn't making the Broncos a 500 point favorite a little over the top? :-))

Thomas Collins

That would be the deal, Papa. The Hill drops out and gets a pardon now.

Thomas Collins

No O'Malley and no Bernie. Dem pooh-bahs will attempt to anoint Biden or Warren. I could see a Biden/Warren ticket. But Bernie might not go down without a rousing battle. Best scenario: Bernie gets close to a majority of delegates, and Dem superdelegates are needed to put Biden over the top.

danoso

Perhaps a more immediate question - why hasn't her clearance been pulled?

DebinNC

Roger Goodell has hired HillBilly's Lewinsky Saga mouthpiece and Rathergate dirty trickster Joe Lockhart as the NFL's "new executive vice president of communications".

Cecil Turner

Can't Hillary! just run the country from Club Fed?

NK

ThomasC-- Bingo, that's the doable deal. She gets the blsnkrt pardon for any and all crimes she ever committed. The FBI is case is shutdown as moot. She hands over the crony$$$ keys to OFA, and she and Bill retire to the dog track. Bernie gets killed in '16, and OFA comes in as the dem 'savior' in '17 as the USA Socialist Party.

While all of this soap opera is going on, the *real* danger, according to Ear Leader, is Gaia's hot flashes. The NYT keeps us focused like a laser on the dangers ahead:

Michael E. Mann, a climate scientist at Pennsylvania State University, calculated that if the global climate were not warming, the odds of setting two back-to-back record years would be remote, about one chance in every 1,500 pairs of years.

For every a-hole progtard who casually spits out the Koch name as a virtue-signal, a little dose of reality. Not that reality every stopped them before.:

From 1994 to 2004, almost $140 million was spent to lobby for changes to our country’s campaign-finance laws. … The vast majority of this money — $123 million, 88 percent of the total — came from just eight liberal foundations.

These foundations were: the Pew Charitable Trusts ($40.1 million), the Schumann Center for Media and Democracy ($17.6 million), the Carnegie Corporation of New York ($14.1 million), the Joyce Foundation ($13.5 million), George Soros’ Open Society Institute ($12.6 million), the Jerome Kohlberg Trust ($11.3 million), the Ford Foundation ($8.8 million) and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation ($5.2 million).

[snip]

Consider this: in 2013, the left wing Center for Public Integrity reported that “Four foundations run by [the Koch brothers] hold a combined $310 million in assets…” By contrast, the Ford Foundation’s endowment is more than $12 billion — about 38x larger than the Koch Foundations.

On a list of the top 100 US Foundations (by asset size), the Ford Foundation is #2. The various Koch Foundations don’t make the list, nor do they make the list of top 100 Foundations by annual giving.

Worth bookmarking.

Immediately after "Perhaps a more immediate question - why hasn't her clearance been pulled?

How did she ever get a clearance? How did thousands of other politicians get a clearance?

The Infamous Ignatz

And don't forget, lyle, those sums are dwarfed by the government largess made available to progtard orgs on our behalf every year.
That Republicans did not gut those programs when they had the chance is why it's so hard to believe a word they say or even remain one.

Jack is Back (but On Alert with his Percocet and Prune Juice )

Did she ever have a formal clearance or defacto need to know due to her position? You really think Obama went through the same vetting, I, Cecil, BoE and other vets here did that required clearances?

Its laughable to think that on a white sheet basis either Hillary or Obama could ever pass muster for any kind of security clearance.

Comanche Voter

I don't think the majority of the FBI management have the stones to resign if the Hildebeest indictment goes down the memory hole.

Higher Ed update:

A teacher at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro requires students in her class to write an 8-page commitment to social justice — pupils who take her class because it’s a required course to earn a K-12 teaching credential.

An assignment in instructor Revital Zilonka’s “Institution of Education” class tells future North Carolina teachers that “by the end of the semester, you are required to write your own personal/professional commitment to social justice,” the syllabus states.

I couldn't pass up on her name. Link at Insty if you're so inclined.

Miss Marple

I am trying to figure out how many Bernie supporters will go nuts if they try to insert Biden, even with Warren, as the substitute.

I remember 1968's dem convention in Chicago. The people who had been RFK supporters transferred their grief and rage to the dem party establishment and Hubert Humphrey, resulting in those riots.

I think people would be pretty mad if they pull a rules change and dump Bernie. The only way it would work is if Bernie claimed a "health issue" which kept him from running. If Bernie doesn't cooperate and there is a floor fight, it could get very interesting.

Beasts of England

As much as I want to see Cankles in shankles, I have to hope it doesn't come to fruition. The DNC won't let Bernie have the reigns. No way. They'll bring in SloJo and Lieawatha if there's an indictment.

No candidate or ticket on the Republican side can beat those two.

Follow Bob Tisdale for PDO insight.

jk, I note his weasel words 'if the climate were not warming'.

There is increasing suspicion that the temperature series have been fiddled with. The worst lately has been a re-analysis of temperature by NOAA, emails about which are being sought by Congressional Republicans. NOAA has stalled on releasing the emails. Apparently there has been a whistleblower, who has whistled either that normal scientific procedures were not followed, or there was interference from above. Developing.....

The now nearly 20 year pause in warming is just too embarrassing for the alarmists, now divided in half between those still claiming no pause, and those trying to explain the pause away. It's all great fun to watch.

Again, the satellite series has 2015 as the third highest, still behind 1998.

And next is La Nina, but not for a little while.

lyle

I disagree, Beasts. I want to see her indicted and let the chips fall where they may. Hell, the media spin alone attempting to cover-up, obfuscate, or deny Hilligula's light-bending mendacity should be great enough to alter the speed of the earth's rotation. I just want to see some of my friend's heads explode.

https://pjmedia.com/election/2016/01/20/hillary-spokesman-inspector-general-working-in-cahoots-with-gop-to-embarrass-hillary/

campaign spokesman Brian Fallon got to work on the latest conspiracy theory to make her seem innocent. Fallon says it was a "very coordinated" leak yesterday. He's also taken to social media to keep the theory afloat. As with all Clinton conspiracy theory deflections, he never really says the information is false, just that it's being "trumped up" (odd choice of words).

This hack never mentions that the IG was appointed by the JEF. It's a conspiracy so vast...

James D

I don't think the majority of the FBI management have the stones to resign if the Hildebeest indictment goes down the memory hole.

Then they don't have the stones to BE in the FBI management, and should be fired on day one of a non-treasonous Presidency.

Now feeding an extra billion people.

The news is gradually spreading that the amount of warming man can do will be net beneficial, not to mention the almost miraculous greening of the Earth from AnthroCO2.

Beasts of England

I'm not aware of the security clearance requirements for elected officials. I assume that POTUS is awarded a blanket clearance and need-to-know. I also assume that Senators and cabinet officers are investigated no differently than idiots like me.

Not that far off, either, but just when, even I don't know.

Notwithstanding all the sneering, I still believe in Peak Oil. We are successfully recovering more and more difficult deposits.

A quote from someone whose name I can't remember: Petroleum is found in the human imagination, and reserves are found in the tax code.

DebinNC

Anyone following the Freddie Gray trial machinations in Baltimore? It's hard to believe it's taking place in America. I'm a long-time trial watcher beginning with the old Court TV days, but the racist Baltimore DA is in a class with only herself and Mike Nifong, or at least I hope that's all.

NK

Peak Oil?: perhaps... but what if oil is in fact a naturally renewable resource, such that new deposits aren't merely newly discovered, they are in fact new?

Miss Marple

Beasts, dear boy, Let's look at the current senators on the Intelligence Committee:

http://www.intelligence.senate.gov/about/committee-members-114th-congress-2015-2016

http://intelligence.house.gov/about/hpsci-minority-members

You will notice the House minority members include Luis Gutierrez and Andre Carson.

Those 2 shouldn't be trusted with secrets in an 8th grader's diary.

So, my answer is that they are deemed to have passed a clearance check by virtue of being appointed.

lyle

Wretchard:

A similar process of decline may now be threatening the status quo. The trillion dollar debt, the foreign failure, the economic insecurity. The themes that Donald Trump beats on relentlessly. It's not reeling from the punches of the Republican party. It's staggering under the weight of its own failures. The significance of Clinton's weakness is that it represents unrest among Democrats, from people who are supposed to have benefited from the system but have not -- and are mad as hell. As Alan Rappeport of the New York Times notes in his post-debate survey, Sanders is channeling anger while Hillary is still selling faith in Hope and Change.
“If Hillary hugged Obama any tighter tonight Michelle would’ve had to step in.” — Jason Johnson, political science professor at Hiram College and politics editor at The Root.

Of course the Dems aren't reeling from any punches from the Rs. That would require spines and most of them in Congress--and ALL of them in leadership positions--have had them removed. And, obiter dicta, Michelle couldn't care less who hugged her "husband."

Jane

Anyone following the Freddie Gray trial machinations in Baltimore?

Losing the first trial - with a hung jury (11-1 not guilty) is very foreboding.

"Multiculturalism" was less an immigration policy than an advertisement of our moral virtue. So the really bad thing about New Year's Eve is not that Continental women got groped and raped by coarse backward "migrants", but that all these gropes and rapes might provoke the even more coarse and backward natives. I did all the gags a decade ago:
The old definition of a nanosecond was the gap between the traffic light changing in New York and the first honk from a car behind. The new definition is the gap between a terrorist bombing and the press release from an Islamic lobby group warning of a backlash against Muslims.

And so it goes ten years on. We're beyond parody now.

Yes, we are, Mr. Steyn. Yes, we are.

NK

.. I am trying to figure out how many Bernie supporters will go nuts if they try to insert Biden, even with Warren, as the substitute..

Miss Marple, I don't know what the Dem elders/DNC could do along those lines without writing off 2016.

Bernie supporters seem to have real enthusiasm for his candidacy, and affection for him. Even if he is convinced to go quietly, his true believers are going to feel robbed.

I think this would be much worse than the PUMAs in 2004. Where they were upset about Hillary being pushed aside for the charismatic Obama, at least Obama had been in the race and won a lot of his own delegates. And in the end, he was able to unite the party behind him

To push aside Sanders, if he wins fair and square, or is on the verge of winning … It wouldn’t surprise me to see a democrat faction go third party.

Re lyle's 1:55 PM link: The vast right wing/GOP conspiracy talking point may be all Team Hill has now going for it. War on Women didn't work out too well.

lyle

Steyn's big close:

It's the biggest story of our time, and, ten years on, Europe's leaders still can't talk about it, not to their own peoples, not honestly. For all the "human rights" complaints, and death threats from halfwits, and subtler rejections from old friends who feel I'm no longer quite respectable, I'm glad I brought it up. And it's well past time for others to speak out.

This sums up my feelings as well. And I also get the "subtler rejections from old friends who feel I'm no longer quite respectable" as well. Sigh.

Thomas Collins

I haven't gotten any outright rejections yet, lyle. Just entreaties from friends and family not to bring up politics at holiday dinners. My usual reply: I'm happy to talk about sports and how so and so's child or grandchild is doing. No politics as long as someone doesn't speak in a manner such that my silence could be interpreted as assent (such as "Everyone knows the Paris climate change agreement needs to be implemented" or "Everyone knows Obamacare lowers health care costs").

Rick Ballard

Kim,

The Desperately Seeking Stasis Fascists invented short horizon graphs re Peak Oil/CO2 Monster (in conjunction with anti-nuke hysteria) as a very large part of their efforts to squelch the ingenuity which continually threatens their pathetic existence. Why on earth should anyone treat the obvious lies of would be slavers with anything but disdain?

We do use oil at a rate at which it is not replaced. We probably couldn't produce enough hay or remove manure fast enough to maintain 7 billion people either, if true horse power were still a primary energy source.

So what?

TC, I think the key word is "subtler." But we live in vastly different politically worlds, I'd reckon.

As I understand it, there is a deadline to get on the ballot, and in many places it has passed. So you seem to be suggesting that the left will ignore the primary voters and inject non-runners onto the ticket. I certainly wouldn't put it passed them but the Berniphiles will have a cow.

Their lose/lose will be our WIN!

cheerleader

Thomas he talks about that in almost every speech. Today at his Tulsa rally, that Sarah Palin introduced with huge enthusiasm, he added a bit to the Hillary problem, saying the reason she says such nice things about Obama is that he holds the keys to clink. He also said that they should leave Petraus alone, he's paid for what he did, and what he did was way smaller than what Hillary did. Even his landing at the Tulsa airport was live streamed, the announcer said that Obama gets the same level of security. Palin and Todd were with him on the Trump plane and they are on the Trump Train!

cheerleader

keys to THE clink, or is it klink?

NK

Jane-- yes that is my understanding of the Dem superdelegates (union thugs and local/state party officials) they are untied to primary results, and there are probably enough of them to deny Bernie the nom (certainly coupled with Hilligula primary delegates) But I don't think the would, for the mayhem reasons you cite.

Miss Marple

Jane, that is exactly what I think they will do. Torricelli, remember?

The only firm deadline is getting on the ballot for the November election. As far as the democrats are concerned, there are no other requirements.

Yes, the Bernie voters would have a fit, and rightfully so. That's why I compared it to possibly being like Chicago, 1968.
