Two good summaries of the case from the place I first heard of it here; pre-resentencing
and here; post.
Valuable details in both.
An insane miscarriage of justice that has people across the West rightly incensed.
However, the taking of Malheur 1 [don't think there is a 2 or 3] doesn't seem likely to result in much unless Loretta Lynch decides to Waco and Ruby Ridge the place.
Jizz Shaw doesn't like what they did but doesn't specify what they should do. Too bad no political party doesn't go to bat for these individuals victimized by Stasi like judicial tyrannical quibbling.
Let's hear it from the GOP cheerleaders and pompom girls about how another opportunity to take a popular stand is squandered.
Now, now, lyle. Janet always said she was just plain and liked to ride around in her pickup. Because of her height, however, she cried on Holder's shoulder and not Shalala's.
This story provides the most plausible reason for what has happened to the Hammonds.
Steens Mountain is a really interesting massif in the middle of the high desert that the Feds and green weenies have long coveted. They bought most of the locals out through land swaps.
The Hammond family apparently is the lone holdout on Steens Mountain.
The civil settlement for $400,000 is as insane as the criminal overkill regarding extinguishing the fires, in that the Hammonds apparently put out the 139 acres fire themselves and the BLM only put out the one acre fire. That's about $400 not $400,000.
The BLM refusing to renew their grazing leases and obtaining right of first refusal if the Hammonds are forced to sell any of their land just reinforces that what is going on is government extortion not justice.
From experience I can tell you there are one or two or a hand full of zealous enviro nuts somewhere in the bowels of BLM working in concert with the sage brush huggers to create this mess. They're the ones who should be in jail.
I'll be your go to source for the MSM for a few months. We have Verizon Fios at our rental house and the owner opted out of some channels, including Fox and MSNBC,so we've got CNN and the three networks. I watched Face the Nation this morning, the Trump interview was interesting, but the panel was NYT, The Atlantic and NRO.
As someone at Hotair noted, Barry and Loretta's DOJ is working tirelessly to release vicious known terrorists from Gitmo so they can then kill Americans while it is simultaneously putting two American ranchers behind bars for five years under anti terrorism statutes for burning a little sage brush in the middle of nowhere.
I saw a guy yesterday at Fort Lauderdale Airport wearing a Pitzer tee shirt. I wanted to walk up to him and whisper, "Hey, buddy, you're embarrassing yourself".
"a hand full of zealous enviro nuts somewhere in the bowels of BLM"
They are undoubtedly working in concert with the "crucify them" EPA terrorists. They all believe they have untouchable sinecures with their civil service protection.
It's going to take IGs working in conjunction with new appointees to DoJ to pry them out and perjury and false statement prosecutions are going to be the tools necessary to do the job. There are 93 US Attorneys who better get pink slips on January 18, 2017 and about 500 Assistant US Attorneys who require reassignment to deportation facilitation or patent work if substantive change is to be achieved.
Memorandum has actually linked Sundance's Breitbart piece on the Hammonds and the militia.
With the usual caveat that it is Sundance who is sometimes less than careful or somewhat selective in his presentation of facts, it is actually a good run down of what has occurred over the years. I only noted a few insignificant errors in areas I am familiar with, so it does seem to provide the best backstory with the most complete historical context of what has gone on.
Loved the sub thread under Pieces re Mena and the coke that presumably flew in there. Narc may be the goto source, but the idea that pappy Bush and Bent Willy had a connection back in the day would put a new glow to the unlikely palling around today.
Thats an odd rabbit hole to traverse man tran, this came from the left field opponents of razorback, but incorporating elements from the christic narrative, that lurch used as his spotlight to prominence,
Bang spot on, Rick; and the new Prez better have the GFY response ready for the MFM's new found skepticism of executive actions, in this case 100% within the limits of the Constitution.
I'm still catching up on previous threads so forgive me if you have discussed this. Has anyone else watched the Netflix series "Making a Murderer"? I would be interested in your thoughts. I'm probably going to need blood pressure medicine after binge watching it over the last few days.....
Calling some unmanned wildlife refuge remote facility "a federal building" seems to me to be accurate but misleading. And if it does lead to an armed standoff, there won't be just the one set of crazies.
(BTW, I also assumed from the lead-in we were talking football here.)
So these guys are breaking some laws that are supposed to be obeyed? Does that matter anymore?
"Activists" at UVA vandalized a private building & nobody cared. They were even quoted in a newspaper so we could understand their grievances.
It seems like some laws HAVE to be obeyed & some don't.
Juan from Guatemala doesn't have to obey laws...so why do these Americans have to?
Just had a humpie cruise by the front porch. His plume must shoot at least 50' in the air. Can still see it when he comes up at least 2 mi. down the channel.
MM I enjoy Midsomer Murders and Miss Fischer's as well. This is a documentary that took over 10 years to make. It is real footage of the trial and all the people involved.
I tend to side with law enforcement 99% of the time. I know in ANY profession there are bad apples. But this story is disturbing on *so* many levels. I cannot stop thinking about it.
Thanks NL - I am already a fan of Person of Interest. I really like Jim Caviezel - he is one of the rare Hollywood stars who has a strong faith (Catholic), still married to same wife, adopted handicapped children, etc. etc.

They should have taken over a State Capitol or blocked some highways or a road to an airport...that is acceptable.
Hopefully there will be some Congressional hearings about this before any action is taken.

Yes, occupying a state Capitol rotunda is the way to get the MSM on your side... especially if you sing stupid songs all day.
