OK, what?!?
2 Abortion Foes Behind Planned Parenthood Videos Are Indicted
HOUSTON — A grand jury here that was investigating allegations of misconduct against Planned Parenthood has instead indicted two anti-abortion activists who made videos of the organization.
In a statement, the Harris County district attorney, Devon Anderson, said Monday that the director of the Center for Medical Progress, David Daleiden, had been indicted on a felony charge of tampering with a governmental record and a misdemeanor count related to purchasing human organs.
Another center employee, Sandra Merritt, was indicted on a charge of tampering with a governmental record.
The Center for Medical Progress had covertly shot videos of Planned Parenthood officials discussing the sale of body parts from aborted fetuses for research. Mr. Daleiden, 26, had posed as a biotechnology representative to infiltrate Planned Parenthood affiliates and surreptitiously record his attempts to procure tissue for research.
Ms. Anderson said in the statement that grand jurors had cleared Planned Parenthood of any wrongdoing. She did not specify in the statement what record or records were allegedly tampered with.
“We were called upon to investigate allegations of criminal conduct by Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast,” Ms. Anderson said. “As I stated at the outset of this investigation, we must go where the evidence leads us. All the evidence uncovered in the course of this investigation was presented to the grand jury. I respect their decision on this difficult case.”
Hmm, chilling effect on free speech and political activism? But this is not some runaway Democratic prosecutor, as best I can tell: Ms. Anderson has a long and distinguished career as a Harris County prosecutor, state district judge (after winning a Republican primary) and criminal defense attorney. She was appointed by Gov. Rick Perry (R) to succeed her husband, also a Republican.
I await more information. And yeah, too bad Rick Perry was not still in the Presidential race, so this seeming debacle could force him out.
MORE: From the Houston Chronicle:
The national organization of Planned Parenthood had said in a letter to Congress that Daleiden was involved in secretly recording staff and patients at least 65 times over the last eight years.
The organization alleged that Daleiden and others used aliases, obtained fake government I.D.s, and formed a fake tissue procurement company in an effort to gain access to private areas and record private conversations to be deceptively edited to create a false impression.
The second indictment for Daleiden suggests that the grand jury found that he went too far in trying to get Planned Parenthood to admit to selling tissue. The crime, a class A misdemeanor is committed if a person intentionally offers to buy or offers to sell a human organ, including fetal tissue. If convicted, the maximum punishment is a year in jail.
IANAL but one might have thought the lack of actual intent to complete the sale would be an impediment to a successful prosecution.
That is very very bad news.

Stephanie's link from the last thread - http://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/266958-creator-of-planned-parenthood-videos-indicted-in-texas
"Instead, Daleiden was indicted for “prohibition of the purchase and sale of human organs.” He and Merritt were both indicted for “tampering with a governmental record.”"
and this -
"Earlier this month, the national organization went on the offensive against Daleiden by filing a lawsuit in federal court accusing the Center for Medical Progress of unlawful behavior ranging from secret taping to trespassing."
Planned Parenthood & the abortion industry can do anything they want. Anything. They are a protected, taxpayer funded, multimillion dollar industry.
It is sickening....

Dan Bongino says the prosecutor was a former BOARD MEMBER of PP.
Posted by: Stephanie | January 25, 2016 at 06:46 PM
Panel: George Will, DrK, Juan.
Brett: President seems to be embracing Hillary.
Will: (Repeats DrK's argument from last week) that he knows all his Executive orders can immediately be undone by a Republican so that's why he's embracing Hillary.
DrK: (On Obama's seemingly pro-Hillary statements) I think it's a fact that with her she has begun to wrap herself around him, around his Legacy. You saw this in the last debate. She kept saying "Bernie's going to abandon ObamaCare, I will continue it." Of course that's completely ironic, because Sanders is the one who wants to achieve the ultimate dreams of Obama, the one's he couldn't. He was the one who openly said he would prefer a single payer system, like a Canadian System, but he obviously wasn't unable to achieve it. Sanders is the one you would expect to be his logical ideological heir, but I think Obama is calculating that the country is simply not going to elect Sanders, and if Sanders loses a Republican is elected, and everything he did, almost everything he did, I think including ObamaCare, disappears, and he becomes a historical parenthesis, so I think what he is pushing for is he'd like to see any Democrat, even if it is Hillary, he thinks Hillary will have a better chance, so that that legacy, such as it is, is continued.
-------------------------------
That makes sense and is why last week DrK said there is no way in hell she gets indicted.
Posted by: daddy | January 25, 2016 at 06:51 PM
DrK and Brett continued and DrK seems now to think a bit different than what I took as his stand last week on if she doesn't get indicted:
Brett: meanwhile it's his (Obama's) FBI and his Justice dept that really holds the key to whether Hillary Clinton wins or loses.
DrK: That's why I think less important is Iowa, less important is New Hampshire, is the Comey Vote. He's the head of the FBI. His will be decisive. If he makes a criminal referral, I think her candidacy will probably disintegrate, even if it's rejected by the Department of Justice.
-------------------------
Last week I thought DrK's opinion was that she would weather that storm of incoming criticism. Either my mistake, or his opinion has evolved:)

Nothing else of consequence from the panel, so over to Lou Dobbs. On the latest of Hillary's Emails, he has a long bit, far to long to transcribe, but a former State Department Official, Wendy Sherman, who served in both the Obama and the Clinton Administrations, is recorded in a public speech talking positively about how Hillary did something with some Foreign Diplomat was they both used their Blackberry's to look a secure info during negotiations, and then when FOX and Intel guys check out those transmissions they discover they were confidential and not allowed to be used in such negotiations.
Same old Hillary corruption, just from an unexpected new angle.

FOX Reporter: FOX News has exclusively obtained a video showing Wendy Sherman at a private event in 2013, with The American Foreign Service Association, where she boasted about how Clinton and her aides sent sensitive information on unclassified systems. Sherman cited the example of Clintons 2011 visit to the United Nations General Assembly, where the then Sec State met with Lady Ashton of the EU. They conducted delicate MidEast Peace negotiations.
Sherman from the video: And so they sat there as they were having the meting with their Blackberry's transferring language back and forth, between them and between their aides, to multitask in quite a new fashion, uhhh to have the meeting and at the same time to be working on the Quartet Statement.
Reporter Carl Cameron: FOX checked some of the State Dept's previous Email dumps and found out that in September 2001, Top Aide Jake Sullivan forwarded an E-Mail chain to Clinton that included notes on the Quartet Statement, which the State Department has now deemed to be Classified, and officials redacted details from the Public...
-------------------------------
Overall point, IMHO is that there is plenty enough now under any metric for Comey to push a criminal referral, and the game now is to see if the Administration can prevent him from doing that, and what happens if he doesn't lay down for them.

CH, I understand the argument. But my question still stands, too:
What possible amendments would prevent people like the prosecutor in this case from twisting the law and pushing brainwashed asses like the Grand Jury in this case to a lawless result anyway?
What amendment would remove people like that from office and keep their ilk out?
We have officials at every level who routinely ignore the law or warp it beyond all recognition to get the result they want. What would stop them from doing that with any new amendments?

Lou has on my fav, General Keane, to discuss the latest on our pretend war against ISIS.
Lou: The new ISIS warning, talking primarily about European targets, what do you make of it?
Gen Keane: Well it's all part of their strategy. They clearly have a global strategy, Lou. They write it all down for us to see. They have maps to support it. They've expanded out of Iraq and Syria to 9 affiliates that are in the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, and SouthEast Asia, and they're developing a World Wide following of True Believers that are willing to kill their fellow citizens, so this is the most successful terrorist organization in modern history.
Lou: The most successful...Are we confident of the size of the Islamic State?
Keane: Well it's debated quite a bit. I think in terms of the actual organization of fighters themselves, who operate in and around Iraq and Syria, there seems to be some consensus around 30 to 40,000 with the ability to recruit, on average, one and a half thousand to 2,000 per month, which I think is quite staggering, given the fact we've ben pounding these guys now, going all the way back to August of 2014...
