The left knows they win with all their lawsuits...whether they actually win or not.

The message is sent that if anybody tries to stop them they will destroy you. It intimidates others from stepping up.

PD

So in the CNN Town Hall, Bernie just cited, once again, the "women make 79 cents on the dollar compared to men" statistic. Hasn't that figure been the same for, like, 30 years or so? The amount hasn't changed by even a penny?

That's amazingly stubborn inequality, no?

Johnson Controls, Tyco Deal Adds to U.S. Tax Exodus

Johnson Controls is set to become the latest American company to move abroad in search of tax savings—and to do so on the coattails of the dismantled Tyco empire.

JC is an old-school industrial controls company, and Tyco has recovered from Dennis Kozlowski (in prison, I think). Tyco has a headquarters in Ireland. And now so does Johnson Controls.

First line of the "Truth"out article:

"It's not possible to be an offshore manufacturing profiteer and to simultaneously champion keeping jobs in the US, without being a hypocrite."

Leaving aside the poison-the-well term "profiteer", it seems to me that it's easily possible to be in favor of jobs in multiple countries, without hypocrisy.

DebinNC

Other than during a campaign using donor money, has Cruz ever had a private sector job where he paid employees himself?

Truthbetold

Is that what you are hearing Trump make?

I have no idea what your question means, but I was responding to the article's first sentence, which was a general statement. A specious one.

Stephanie

ISTM that it is possible that the textile manufacturers in the US might have been few and far between to manufacture ties... or that they were unable to meet production demand.

Johnson Controls was once upon a time a subsidiary of Genuine Auto Parts and was part of the last decent IT contract I had - nice guys. That contract was to design and implement a data base so that GPC could do their consolidated financials autonomously without needing Excel and five days of compiling numbers by data input to comply with stock exchange requirements. I think I put 3 people out of a job once that contract was complete. :)

As a senior adviser to the McCain-Palin campaign in 2008, I understand why, to this day, Senator McCain remains gracious toward Ms. Palin. Despite her shortcomings, she brought out the largest crowds that we’d seen since the campaign started. Voters stood for hours on the rope line to meet her. Her legacy lies in her innate ability to wrap herself in the anger that those voters felt. While Senator McCain seemed slightly unnerved by the intensity of their discontent, Ms. Palin basked in it.

I stood backstage at a rally in Minnesota in October 2008 where Senator McCain took the microphone from a woman in the crowd who spoke about her fears, including that Barack Obama was “an Arab.” Senator McCain said,“No, ma’am,” and explained that Mr. Obama was a good and decent family man and an American with whom he simply disagreed on policy matters. This interaction will go down as one of the finest moments from one of the country’s finest men. But it was also an early warning that the Republican base was profoundly agitated.

I see in that 11:14 on Brazil that they focus on causes Brazil has no control over like falling commodity prices, the China slowdown. Roussef's corruption and ineptitude comes as an afterthought. Brazil was supposed to be the new India/China coming onto the scene, but instead it's just another banana republic.

danoso-it was impressive to see all that snow from the air yesterday after we left Laguardia on the 10 am flight. Still plenty of cancelled flights yesterday and only one runway open initially in the am. Delta had brought in an airbus full of atlanta based flight crews to get service back up.

They said a few flights got out Sunday night. I noticed Friday morning that it looked like people who could telecommute had not come in and every discretionary midtown business meeting had been cancelled.

No one in the cafes packed on previous days and Friday night the Diva wanted me to take her to an Italian on 42nd that is normally packed. Hardly anyone there at 7:30 or so.

Jimmy and jmh heard this story but the Diva got it in her head she wanted one of those fancy milkshakes from Black Tap down in Greenwich/Soho so we are out in the freezing cold Friday afternoon for almost 3 hours in that line.

Friday afternoon I wondered if my feet would ever be warm again. Sunday afternoon I wondered if my shoes would ever be dry again.
