Inspired and distressed by this story about C.T.E. and The Snake, I propose my plan for undermining, right-sizing and eventually eliminating the NFL. It starts with this - have the Ivy League drop their football teams.
Why? Across out great nation we have public high schools and state universities funding football programs. New York state and the New England states could ban high school football next week and it would have an endurable cultural impact, with one caveat: Concerned parents remains as one more way for a skilled athlete but middling student to launch a career at the Ivies and other prestigious schools.
So - take away the Ivy ticket and some otherwise-concerned parents will breathe a sigh of relief and have their young stud focus on lacrosse, which is just a cultural appropriation intended to shield suburban white boys from the black athletes anyway (Don't get me started...).
Now, many schools insist that the money they collect from their football program pays for the entire athletic department and prompts all sorts of alumni bonding and donating. Fine, and I am sure for many schools it is true. But if Harvard or Yale even begin to squeak about a money problem they will be laughed out of town. And with five Ivies in the list of Top Ten university endowments, it is time for them to lead the way away from this brain-damaging morass.
So, the Ivies drop football, various states start dropping it from their high school and state college programs, and we see where we go. Obviously, Texas, Pennsylvania and Alabama will be laggards in this process, but that is what makes our Federal system so great.
So that is my Plan du Jour. Now for a second cup of coffee!

Ignatz,
The guy from the Daily Mail understands Trump's point. If you were a Carson voter and thought he was dropping out, you would probably go to Cruz:

@dmartosko
Trump's point: If Cruz flips just 4 voters per Iowa precinct with the Carson rumor, that's his margin of victory over @realDonaldTrump

Re-reading the history of the USFL litigation strategy reminded why I came to detest Trump's business practices and his values back in the day. He's a dick, he really is.

Well, if Trump was a winner, he wouldn't complain about internecine bloodletting amongst his opponents. A mere plurality isn't "strength" or "winning"

I disagree!!! I am very picky about flavor.
And enjoy your bottle!

Has Trump matured with age?... nope. He just got chubby and unattractive in an algore porcine kind of way.

So with Huck, Paul and Santorum out - there are now 8 candidates remaining (9 if you count Gilmore).
The debate on Saturday in Iowa will not have a kiddie table debate.
The rules to make the debate are 1) top 3 finish in Iowa or 2) top 6 in either the national polls or NH polls.
Everyone is covered by one of those rules . . . except Fiorina.
She's last in the national polls (of those still in) and she's 7th in the polls in NH (she's ahead of Carson).
While the rules are set by debate host ABC, Fiorina is trying to get the RNC to step in so she can be included.
I think she should be allowed. But that would probably also open the door to Gilmore demanding to be in it too. He really doesn't belong.

This tweet by a woman on Feb 1 looks quite prescient does it not?
Lord help us all. Trump not winning, when half of his platform is “look at me beating everyone in the polls!” will make him insufferable.

It is tough to be as good looking as Cruz, NK.

I think the Repub candidates should include Carly to continue to vet her as a VP candidate.

No Carly, no peace!!

BoE-- exactly. She does need to settle on one hair style though.
Posted by: NK | February 03, 2016 at 07:13 PM
Is this the same NK that bashed Cruz's filibuster egomania, and the same TK who cheered Cruz on as an anti-GOPe hero? Just sayin'.

C'mon ladies; isn't Ted badass awesome:

NK,
No. I will say no more.

Ivanka-- she certainly used 2 of the 3 traditional ways to get money. Whoops, her hubby is a firm client, have to shut up about this.
Posted by: NK | February 03, 2016 at 07:19 PM
Heh.

NK,
Poor form. In fact, low class.
Posted by: Miss Marple | February 03, 2016 at 07:21 PM
This is the same TK who didn't know Ted was Canadian until 2014.
That's is presumably forgivable.

Santorum endorses Rubio.
Posted by: Miss Marple | February 03, 2016 at 07:27 PM
Sorry, I'm sure Ivanka is lovely, but she is no paragon of up from the bottom business success for me. Oh and 'bidding out contractor prices' PUH-LEEZE she has 'people' for that with company names like Bovis and Tishman.
Posted by: NK | February 03, 2016 at 07:28 PM
What did Rubio do to deserve that fate?

For those of you who asked a few weeks back what 'Trump does' this little article, including Q&A with Trump's VP, summarizes the promoter/ring leader role Trump plays using OPM.

So Carson voters would just accept Cruz's campaign word that Carson is dropping out???? Yeah, right...
Posted by: Texas Liberty Gal | February 03, 2016 at 07:33 PM
NK,
I am sure you know more than I do. I put the article up for interest.
Feel free to rant. We all know you have inside information, as you so kindly let us know.
Posted by: Miss Marple | February 03, 2016 at 07:34 PM
And what exactly was the point of Carson's press conference? That Cruz should fire his staffers but its ok for Carson to keep the staffer that started the rumor to begin with.
Posted by: Texas Liberty Gal | February 03, 2016 at 07:37 PM
Cruz accepted CNN's "word."
Posted by: Threadkiller | February 03, 2016 at 07:40 PM
No rant. Just a reminder of the advice giver's background; I'm sure she's lovely, but she did sweat making payrolls and finding capital, persuade people to work for her etc.
Posted by: NK | February 03, 2016 at 07:40 PM
'not' etc.
Posted by: NK | February 03, 2016 at 07:41 PM
Cruz should at least fire the staffer that told him to apologize to Carson.
Clearly he did nothing that warranted such action.
