Continuing with what I remember of Newt, he also said that he believes Trump is slowly realizing he could win this and have the weight of the Free World on his shoulders, and he has to be thinking about his childrenand his grandchildren.
His advice to Trump would be to slow down and not answer every question. Said when he was first the Speaker, Mike Deaver came to him as a friend and said, "I saw that you were thinking about the answer to a question on television. I do not want to see someone who is in line to the presidency thinking on television. There is nothing wrong with saying that you need to study something and don't yet have an answer."

I, of course, thought we moved into Crazy World when Obama was elected, so by now nothing bothers me. I mean, Kanye West begging Zuckerberg for money, Kaitlyn Jenner (or however you spell it), Black Lives Matter, Iranian nuclear agreement, Muslims running all over Europe, etc.
It's all part of the same nutso times we live in. Why shouldn't trump run? I am just amazed it isn't George Clooney. Fortunately, at least Trump knows math.

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-02-22/freddie-mac-bank-america-launch-another-3-down-mortgage-program#comment-7221421
"Essentially, BofA has cut the FHA out. "After making a mortgage under the new program, Bank of America will sell it to Self-Help, which then sells it to Freddie Mac," The Journal goes on to recount. "If a mortgage defaults, and Self-Help isn’t able to recover the full amount owed, Self-Help takes a big chunk of the losses before Freddie Mac starts to take a loss, which lets borrowers avoid paying mortgage insurance.""

Would Walker still be in? Would he be a factor?
How about Perry and Jindal?

Jack,
I SO understand. I once owned a coon-hound, a Treeing Walker. My daughter adopted her form the county shelter as a puppy thinking she was a beagle.
HA!
Coon hounds are even worse than beagles. That dog would get out and run all over the subdivision. I could only catch her in my car, and I once followed her and clocked her running at near 20 mph!
Loved that dog. Evil husband didn't. She got cancer and had to be put down. I cried for 2 days. He was dumbfounded I even cared. (Should have shown him the door then.)

I have always thought that Trump, smart as he is looking at missed opportunties, saw the vacuum on issue leadership (immigration, ISIS, radical islam, etc.) that no one was speaking strongly about.
And the RNC using these "debates" as a way to sponge cash from the MFM and guarantee no serious questions are asked keeps the Jerry Springer level of seriousness in place. Why more people aren't calling for Reince Priebus's head for that is another piece of evidence of the Party of Stoopid being beyond help. But the apologists will always pretend it's something else.
Posted by: Captain Hate | February 22, 2016 at 07:59 PM
My lovely bride and I generally try not to discuss politics, because we don't agree on much of anything. Nonetheless Yesterday she pointed out for me in the Hartford Courant an editorial piece reprinted from the WaPo by a "professor and provost at GW University" (I think) who was a "good friend" of the late Justice Scalia, purporting to make the point that as an "originalist" his "good friend" Scalia would have agreed that Congress has no business delaying action on the President's Supreme Court nominees in an election year. She said she thought it was "pretty ironic."
Before I read the piece I asked who the professor was. "Professor Ezekiel Emmanuel," she responded. I of course snorted "Zeke Emmanuel. Whatever he's selling I ain't buying." I then told her who Zeke Emmanuel is, and that two things he isn't is a political friend of Antonin Scalia or a constitutional scholar. She did not seem to be impressed by my erudition on the subject, and appeared to be confirmed in her view of me as a reflexive right-winger immune to reasoned, NPR-level discourse (which is in fact true, but ...).
The bio on the piece of course made no mention of the fact that Zeke is Rahm's brother, an architect and perhaps the foremost promoter of Obamacare, a total political amimal and the second coming of Dr. Mengele. (I did not mention Sarah Palin and the "Death Panels." I had the sense that would not advance my argument at that point).
This is of course what we are up against. If you didn't know who Zeke Emmanuel is you would assume that this is an esteemed scholar and friend of Antonin Scalia making a well-founded point, supported by history and precedent. Instead of pure political hackery.
As I thought more about it it made me more and more angry. What kind of cretin presumes to trade upon one's alleged "friendship" with a late political and intellectual adversary to score cheap political points. What an asshole. Shame on the WaPo (hah. as if...) for not identifying the fraud for what it is, and the Courant for perpetuating it.
And if you don't like Zeke's principles, Biden has some that are even more slippery.

On the Kalamazoo shooter---I wonder if, as we see more and more video of executions by the ISIS guys, if those images promote a sort of question in the minds of certain individuals as to whether they would have what it takes to kill someone, and also the question of what would it feel like to do the killing and how would they feel afterward having done it---almost a sort of macabre wondering akin to the young protagonist in Stephen Crane's "Red Badge Of Courage."
My guess is that that sort of question resides in many human breasts, especially young males, and is probably a significant reason for the appeal of ISIS to young males worldwide, both franchised and disenfranchised.
I will now go out and ponder this topic with the number 1 dogs on that list, Yeller' English Labs. Cheerio!

There is strategy bedides your own candidacy as to when to drop out, or if you should ever do so.
Reasons:
You are aware that there is something coming which will knock out another candidate.
You have donors who want you to continue regardless, because they want your message out.
You are doing it to siphon off another candidate's vote and are helping someone else.
Carson has his reasons for staying in. We will find out eventually what they are. I do not ascribe it to his being a sore loser.

Carson ad Kasich need to leave now.
I read somewhere along the way that Carson will suspend Wednesday---that he had a strong network in NV and didn't want to leave them high and dry by withdrawing after SC.
