Oh, and Happy St Patrick's day to you too, TM!

Happy St Pat's to you, too, TM

Theo

I assumed that anyone named Maguire was too busy "celebrating" to blog.

Well the Senate and house gop: E tu gowdy, have provided enough reasons to drink..

Was neat in that an Irish Day Parade went down the main drag here in Waikiki about 2 hours ago, and I was able from Lulu's porch (it's on the 2nd floor) look out and catch the fun. Lot of fancy old polished up cars with Green clad beauty queens, and marching bands playing "It's a long way to tipperary". Big fun here in whacky whacky.

I wonder if we will ever learn what awful thing St Patrick did that he was so ashamed of and that his enemies back towards Rome were angry about, which if I recall correctly from some Bio I read about 5 years back, gummed up the works for him moving up the hierarchy ladder. My guess is that whatever it was it has been long expunged from the Church Records if it ever was in them,. Anyone have any insight on that?

Wichita State "Shockers" (number 11 seed, hanging tough with Number 6 Arizona, 23-15.

And go Stony Brook, beat those gap-toothed, inbred Trump supportin' Kentucky Wildcats.

Paddy's pig!
From the Gray Slut we learn

In unusually candid remarks, President Obama privately told a group of Democratic donors last Friday that Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont was nearing the point at which his campaign against Hillary Clinton would end, and that the party must soon come together to back her.

Mr. Obama acknowledged that Mrs. Clinton was perceived to have weaknesses as a candidate, and that some Democrats did not view her as authentic.

Being an unindicted criminal can be called "a weakness," I guess. It was good to see that many loyal Bernie supporters were not happy about being told the primary season *must* stop at the of King Putt.
One commented:
This is just a little unbelievable to me and it makes me mad. I am from Pennsylvania, and I refuse to accept that my vote is irrelevant. Why even bother having the primaries in the late states? We apparently live in an "elected until proven not elected" system for party front-runners.

This give me two thoughts. First, Bernie will not bow out, I will write more checks, and the upcoming states, many of which are progresive, delegate-rich states, may well deliver what he needs if - too many people are not crushed by the media and establishment message to give up. Second, this makes Donald Trump look more and more acceptable to me. If this is the kind of parody I am supposed to accept as democracy, I may just vote No. Send in Trump and let him wipe it out. It could be worth the price. And it is looking increasing like there is little to lose.

bwahahahaahaha...Bern the witch!

Daddy, I'm 100% Irish. All day long peeps were asking me why I wasn't wearing green. I told them I'm green on the inside.

Hannity is going to show film from inside the Chicago protests by 2 guys who infiltrated. He talked about this yesterday, and it sounds like it would be worth watching.

Of the NCAA watchers here, I think the cheerleaders from Chatanooga most impressed me, but currently at LuLU's there are 3 gorgeous gals working behind the bar, and I am a sheet or 2 to the wind, so I may be biased,

Did anyone else notice any standouts from the cheerleading ranks today?

That jojo who shakes her pom-poms for Trump U is quite a dish. :)

https://mcclintock.house.gov/newsroom/press-releases/rules-changes-to-restore-budget-discipline

Hugh Hewitt was crying about the notion of an establishment. He thinks the term is a baseless derogatory comment that is implemented when someone is losing the argument.

After reading McClintock's simple budget fixes, it is obvious that some Republicans are the impediment.

If that group isn't blocking smart ideas for a reason, then they are doing because they are stupid.

Barry Dauphin

Apparently Bowe Bergdahl left his base hoping to find a four leaf clover. He didn't find that clover, but his parents found a Rose garden ceremony. Never forget that ceremony.

GUS

Barry, that Rose Garden scene was disgusting. The problem we have in this country, is that a large percentage of US/U.S., doesn't see what a pile of (redact) Obama is. We're screwed.

VOTERS DELIVER SUBTLE MESSAGE: DIE DONOR SCUM

http://www.anncoulter.com/columns/2016-03-16.html

Frau Steingehirn

More "thoughts" from NYT readers:

*My wife just got an invitation to attend a one hour "Conversation with Chelsea" in Los Angeles on March 20. Donation is $500. This is why Bernie needs to stay in the race.

*Obama's sneaky, private comments about the presidential primaries at a $33K per person fat donor fundraiser has made my decision for me. I will vote for Bernie in CA in June. I will never vote for Hillary Clinton. Beyond the idea of voting for the lesser of two evils, I am not convinced Trump would be the lesser of two evils in a Trump-Clinton match up. if she gets the Dem Nod, she'll have to win without my vote.

(Who does that $33K per person money benefit? Does it go to the DNC, which has treated Bernie so shabbily and has withheld basic respect from Bernie?)

*I guess this means we now know the fix is in for the email indictment.
[Frau agrees!]

*Yes, Mr. President, it is time for all corporate Democrats to unite behind the only candidate who can solidify oligarchy.

*"Still, those in attendance said in interviews that they took his (Obama's) comments as a signal to Mr. Sanders that perpetuating his campaign, which is now an uphill climb, could only help the Republicans recapture the White House."

Far be it from me to shoot the messenger, but if you (at the NYT) agree with Trump that there could be a "riot" at the Republican Convention, you should take good measure of the dynamics of the upcoming Democratic Convention. I remember 1968, well. I was there in Chicago! Do not think it would not happen again! The Republican protests will pale in comparison with what the President may be putting into play, if what you report is true. Shame on him!

What a sham we have become. I will vote for Trump if the president helps Clinton steal the nomination from Sanders. And millions of others will too. Please be advised.

All in all, not a lot of happy campers except for the woman who thinks Hillary! has the highest IQ of all the candidates. I'm not making this up.

lyle

Full disclosure: I perspire easily. That said, the HC for AZ should at least know what an undershirt is for. Announcers said he changed shirts at halftime. He now looks like he stepped out of a shower except for his perfect hair. Wow. Maybe being down 24 with 11 mins to go has something to do with his perspiration...

Frau Steingehirn

How does he (HC?) have perfect hair if he looks like he just stepped out of a shower?
I'm asking for a friend.

I am sorry. I know I am supposed to feel icky about all of these Palm Beach gals in fancy formal clothes, but I cannot help but laugh at the press being treated like steerage.

By the way, the reporter didn't recognize a Judith Lieber purse.

Theo

I am not sure that I would call a track suit with "Trump 2016" in gold lettering all over it "fancy formal clothes," but it was fun to read the press complain about being treated like they were there to do a job instead of like honored guests.

Yep they are going to fire proof before they are all done. How much money do you have to name to be able to plunk down 33k.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

Here is why Trump would crush Hillary.
He hits first out of the blue, with her barking.
She counterpunches with the same footage and a lame-o punchline and then the Sea Hag cackling at Benghzi hearings.
Tone deaf, punch drunk and not funny; the triple threat.

Ignatz --

Was that an official response from her campaign? That was incredibly lame.

Unlike some others around here I did not think that the original Trump ad was all that great. Very funny, yes, but too silly to be effective in my opinion.

This one by Hillary or whoever is just lame.

American politics has really reached a new low point if these are the kinds of exchanges that will matter.

Good morning, Gus and all!

I see one of the Dirt People saved one of the Cloud People from one of those Peace-loving Immigrants whom we should not be afraid of because that's not who we are.

GUS,

How can you be 100% Irish if your Mother was Scottish?

Our little slice of the world is in the clouds over Stony Brook. Southampton College is part of Stony Brook. Go Sea Wolves!!!

anonamom

GUS is correct, but has the tense wrong--the war is already here.

I've been calling it a cold civl war for a while now, but I think the cold part is no longer appropriate. And the other war has been going on for quite a while--we are in to the second decade of that---but the outcome of the civil war is what is going to ultimately determine how the other goes.

My Gadsden flag is once again flying now that the Christmas decor is all down. My neighbors know which side I'm on.

My question is a little bit old fashioned but what the hell is wrong with MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN??

If that is a dog whistle to the FSA then anonamom is right, the war is on our doorstep. From Wilson to Obama, almost exactly 100 years in the making. But we are here and now we have to decide as a society how to deal with it. Much against my own knowledge and experience of close trusted friends, I am beginning to think Trump may be a start.

It just doesn't feel right.

Miss Marple 2

I know you're all dying to know what Zuckerberg's been up to:

anonamom, we have had a gadsden flag for at least the last 20 years. Fly it whenever something gets stirred up.

Never have to worry about the neighbors not cleaning up if their dog poops in our yard.

Miss Marple 2

http://www.politico.com/story/2016/03/john-kasich-contested-convention-insiders-220946

Politico thinks Kasich has the best chance in a contested convention. This article does make the point that the delegates are from the insider/donor part of the GOP.

Jack is Back!

My 6:52 is a serious error of waking up with fuzzy eyes and misreading the Kentucky v. Stony Brook score. Boy, what a doofus I am to even think they could beat Kentucky.

Buckeye

Forgot to mention.

Cleaning a firearm on the patio table is even more effective.

Miss Marple 2

Proposed new shelter sites owned or controlled by donors to the mayor.

jimmyk

Politico thinks Kasich has the best chance in a contested convention.

Preaching to the choir here, but let's imagine: We've got two candidates who have been generating huge R turnout, enthusiasm, excitement. A third guy who managed to win his home state primary but otherwise is as exciting as toothpaste. I don't think even the GOPe is that stupid, but I could be overestimating them.

Buckeye

My question is a little bit old fashioned but what the hell is wrong with MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN??

Not a thing, and the world is a safer place when we are great (strong).

jimmyk

A-a-and we have a new thread.

anonamom

If Kasich is the nominee, the GOP is dead.
Suicide.

But there is a long time til August, and if Anonymous keeps up it's good works--they released his SS number yesterday, cell phone overnight--they'll bring in another 10% of the voters for him.

I have to fall in behind JiB. I think Trump might be just what this country needs. Anybody the WaPo is so vociferously opposing has to be good, right??
The youTube porch posted yesterday of his interviews over the past thirty years gave me what I was missing--a feeling of where he's coming from. And it's not ego. He repeatedly said he did not want to do it, he hoped somebody else would.

He's Ben Carson, trained in hypnotherapy.

And I did watch that Dayton rally last Saturday, so I may be hypnotized.

Porchlight

JiB and anonamom, I am glad you are seeing it too. We've always said we wanted a fighter. Well, when things have deteriorated to this point, sometimes the fighter you need doesn't talk or look like you imagined or even wanted.

Who else would still be standing after this level of assault? I submit, not any other candidate in this race, D or R.
