On the trail with Hillarity!
BREAKING: Hillary Clinton actually takes questions from reporters, after 87 days
...
Something has changed since then [1992]. Emails from her tenure as secretary of state, released in batches by the State Department under a court order, reveal a person who is deeply suspicious of the media. Clinton seems to no longer trust that journalists will cover a controversy fairly and then go forward to something else.
Her misgivings might be justified — in some cases, at least — but it’s hard to know because she seldom gives the press a chance these days. As she casts a perpetually wary eye on the media, journalists do the same to her, wondering what she might be trying to hide by not talking, or talking only on her own terms.
C'mon, Hillary's The One! What earlier candidate was respected for a vast resume yet unloved for lacking the personal touch; was paranoid, secretive, loathed the press which loathed him right back, and was widely (and correctly!) viewed as ethically malleable?
Too Tricky? Let's flash back to 1968:
"He entered every primary and assembled a team of media consultants who helped him create the image of a "New Nixon," more statesmanlike, less combative, more mature and presidential, an effort chronicled in "The Selling of the President 1968" by Joe McGinnis. The centerpiece of this self-recreation was a series of carefully managed television interview programs packaged by the Nixon campaign. These programs showed Nixon at his best, answering questions posed by ordinary Americans, and shielded him from questions by reporters, who sometimes brought out his worst."
The young woman who investigated Nixon has become the old war horse emulating him. Greek tragedies don't get better.
SERIOUSLY? What, you want to know what she was asked, and even how she answered? The only clue we get is... wait for it... Trump.
@HillaryClinton talks to traveling press for 1st time in 87 days says very disappointed about @realDonaldTrump & David Duke

Bold positioning! As to whether anyone was disappointed about her failure to release the Goldman Sachs transcripts, who knows?

And Mr. Immelt is wary of the tense relations between business and government around the world, charging that “most government policy is anti-growth”. But the unit will be able to retrench and grow stronger through the downturn, he says, thanks to the diversification provided by GE’s structure, and because GE is better positioned to weather a storm. “In the USA, we want exports but seem to hate trade and exporters; globally, governments love small businesses but then regulate them to death”, he writes in the 19-page letter. Immelt criticized the relationship between business and government, calling it “the worst I have ever seen”.
... and this guy, General Electric Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Immelt, is Obama’s jobs czar.
I guess we won't see too many "growth" polices from Hillary either.

Anyone ask Hillary! about her buddy "Sheets" Byrd? Or about all the "FJBs" she has verbally abused during her lifetime? More hate and castrate in the future? Look what she did to David Brock
who is now ready for his close-up, Mr. DeMille.
My husband looked at the latest about the Perpetual Child and remarked, "That's a sexual encounter gone wrong." How can she call all Republicans racists, homophobes and sexists?

I don't care if Hilligula answers questions from a fawning Andrea Mitchell (or agent and press all in one), or from Congress. She needs to answer questions (or plead the 5th) at "People vs HRC" before a life in an orange jumpsuit.

GOP exit poll: 32% of GOP voters decided in last week. That shd be good news for Rubio and Cruz.
Hmmm...I think that refers to 32% of *today's* GOP voters. Early voting has been going on for awhile. Georgia's early vote this year broke its own early vote record, which was previously set in....drum roll....2008.

Drudge links to Rush's monolog today: The Elites Won't Figure Out the Trump Phenomenon Until They're Honest with Themselves About What They've Done
Rush:
... Schumer kept talking to me about the future of the Republican Party was over if they didn't join the momentum for the Gang of Eight, if they didn't try to secure the Hispanic population vote by supporting amnesty and the Gang of Eight bill.
And I remember saying to Senator Schumer, "Do you really care that the Republican Party wins the White House? I mean, that's not what you want. You'd be happy if they never won the White House. So what is this?" And in this whole campaign now we've got people, both parties, but they all -- this is the key -- they all happen to be members of the establishment. They're all professing to be paranoid to one degree or another over what will become of the GOP if Trump gets the nomination.
And the original question still holds. Why are all these liberals in the news media, the Democrat Party, in the pop culture, wherever you find them, why are they so concerned that the GOP might fail to exist? Why are they so concerned that the GOP might be destroyed? And, of course, the answer is, given the current structure, the Democrat Party loves the GOP as it's currently constituted and as it currently operates.
The GOP has practically conceded to being a second-tier party...
if the GOP dwindles and fades away, the Democrat Party's got a little bit of a problem. Look, it's not something they'd lose any sleep over, but one of the primary ways they survive is by pitting their opposition as evil and Satanic. They need villains and if the Republican Party fades away to nonexistence, where's the villain? And in this the two parties are almost complicit in this establishment arrangement. They both feed off of each other and as long as the Republican Party knows its place, and that is for the most part, loser.

Just found this on someone I birthed's FB post. He must be losing sleep like his momma did last night:
I think that I'm Facebook friends with approximately zero Trump supporters, but I am Facebook friends with plenty of liberals. To them I say this: if you can do so in your state, please, please consider crossing over to vote for some non-Trump Republican in the Republican primary.
Your race is over. Hillary is at 98% in the prediction markets to be the Democratic nominee. I'm not making a joke when I say that's basically the price point for her dying before making it to Election Day.
I understand that you, Bernie Sanders voter, think there is something important about being heard and effecting real progressive change, or you, Hillary voter, want to vote for the first female president.
I would ask you to reconsider. Trump is a new kind of dangerous, for reasons obvious and perhaps not so obvious (see, e.g., the link). And, importantly, he hasn't quite won yet. The odds are low, but there is still a chance. So, please, consider doing what you can.
Thanks for indulging my rant. I'll be back to snark soon enough.

Did you really think that the GOP was going to stand up to Obama over SCOTUS?
And they whinge about Trump costing them the Senate.
If they cave on SCOTUS, it will be the end of them (and the rest of us too, unfortunately).
These people are beyond belief. If it is true that the Dems are blackmailing them or threatening them, then the manly thing to do would be to take one for the Nation.
Fat chance of that.

Maybe he threatened to KKK him and that is why Newt shut up.
On the other hand, Ryan could be playing the long game to overturn the consent decree next time it goes to court. Last go around, Priebus told the court that the GOP is no longer racist because Powell, Rice, Gonzales, Obama, Holder, etc.

We had a concern for bad weather this evening and about 5 o'clock the local weather guy posted this:
The NWS just notified us in its latest discussion the threat for any strong or severe storms has now greatly diminished. The storms in Alabama have out-raced the cold front and therefore, there are much lower dynamics in place to create strong or severe storms. Still cannot rule out an isolated strong storm with gusty winds to 40 mph but odds are much much lower for this evening. No severe weather has been reported in Alabama.
Now we have a major squall line and severe weather alerts. Thunderstorms headed this way.
Government FTW!

Hugh Hewitt has been full KKK all day.
Does not see how Trump recovers.
He started off calling quite a few losses for Trump. Now he says that if Trump wins only 8 or 9 races it is a good indicator that Trump has lost any momentum he ever had.
I see.
