A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day!
Actually, it probably is this day.
ERRATA: I try to save that speech for big Yankee seventh games, so ask me how that's worked out.
Yep, TM, could very well be this day. (Sigh)

I really don't understand why he posted a YouTube link to some sort of weird fake broadcast of a baseball game that couldn't have ever happened. It makes no sense.

Trump wins Northern Mariana Islands caucus
Donald Trump has won the Republican caucus in the Northern Mariana Islands, picking up nine pledged delegates, according to the local GOP.
Trump won 73 percent of the total 471 votes cast in the remote U.S. territory on Tuesday, followed by Ted Cruz with 24 percent, John Kasich at .02 percent and Marco Rubio at .01 percent."

Cruz won 9 delegates in Wyoming over the weekend. Huge congrats to both men.

In 2008, the party big wigs, took half of Florida's delegates and Charlie cheetah turned the state over to maverick, in 2012 mittens was as mendacious as the trump university garbage, having learned nothing from the 1994 senatorial conference.

The post by Waldo at 9:45 illustrates one of my pet peeves about "journalists".
The total votes cast makes the Kasich and Rubio percentages impossible.
But then, math r hard. They don't teach that in SJW classes.
Posted by: Buckeye | March 15, 2016 at 09:51 AM
Imagine if Marco didn't finish third in FL, but fourth; almost a quarter million absentee ballots were postmarked before Bush left the race, and Bush's name remains on the ballot.

Roderick Spode: the Real Donald Trump
The more that I think of it, the more Donald Trump seems like a latter-day Spode. And the followers of both, alas, seem about equally astute. Here's Spode at a rally, and the response of one of Bertie's dimmer pals:
Roderick Spode: Citizens of Totleigh-in-the-Wold, I say to you that nothing stands between us and our victory except defeat! Tomorrow is a new day! The future lies ahead!
Barmy Fotheringay-Phipps: D'you know, I never thought of that.
Speaking of dogs my Scotty says every time she sees Donald Trump, "What a daft wee scunner he is"

James D, you're just envious that the Bronx Bombers are unlikely to accomplish what the Red Sox have in the last 14 seasons: (I) losing the ALCS on a home run after blowing a late inning lead; (II) winning the ALCS after falling behind three games to zero; (II) winning three World Series titles; and (IV) managing to finish last three of the last four seasons, the one non-last place finish being a World Series title. Rarely has a pro sports team demonstrated such excellence and incompetence in such a short time frame.

JiB's talking dog joke in the last thread reminds me of another one (not originally about a dog, but it works just as well):
A chasidic Jew all bedecked in traditional garb, long beard, big fur "streimel" (hat), walks into a bar being pulled along by a dog. The bartender says "No dogs allowed!" The dog responds, "Hey, I'm no ordinary dog!" The bartender is stunned, and decides not to throw them out. The dog continues, "My name is Fritz," and pointing his nose at the man, "and this is Moishe." The dog asks for some water, Moishe asks for a beer, and the three of them continue to chat. At some point the bartender shakes his head and asks "Wherever did you find such a creature?" The dog interjects, "Oh it was easy, they're everywhere in Brooklyn."

VDH: Time To Calm Down About Trump, as he's no worse than HC, Bernie, or BOzo ..
"Will someone uncover an early Trump essay with lines like the following: “A man goes home and masturbates his typical fantasy. A woman on her knees, a woman tied up, a woman abused.” “A woman enjoys intercourse with her man — as she fantasizes being raped by 3 men simultaneously” — replete with exegeses like the following: “Many women seem to be walking a tightrope,” as their “qualities of love, openness, and gentleness were too deeply enmeshed with qualities of dependency, subservience, and masochism.” If such a Trump text is uncovered, will he then be in league with the author of those lines, the young Bernie Sanders?"

The first time I saw Richard Thompson was a tour promoting "Across a Crowded Room" which I thought was a great intro for me. Seeing him live is superior to records because he is an incredible guitarist by any standards and his between song comments are comedy club level funny. I've seen him about ten times, solo and with a band, the best of which was with his old band with Dave Matticks at a club on Halloween.
Neil Young appeals to the punk rockers because he's not a great singer, songwriter or guitarist but the performance is greater than the sum of the components. RT is excellent at all of them.

I think Neil Young is a great songwriter, CH. But I generally agree with your "more than the sum of the parts" assessment. And his bands over the years have kicked ass in their own ways. Same with Costello and Tom Petty - the backing bands are very, very important.

At some point in the 90s I took the Hatettes on a road trip to Maryland to visit my kollidge buds. That was in the cassette era in cars so we would alternate choices. I played a Neil Young and Crazy Horse one and my youngest said "You say you don't like heavy metal but what is this?" I said "Welp everything is loud and discordant for sure; but the underlying songs are more folky and sing songy when you cut through the noise." I don't know if she agreed with me or not (or even understood; she was pretty young then); I'll try to remember to ask her next time we chat because her memory is pretty good.

So, I guess I'm just too dim to suss this out. Drudge headline blares "Trump at 53%", which links to a YouGov story that shows that poll result. Further down at that page are favorability ratings of each candidate, which has Trump at 66 favorable, 33 unfavorable - better than the other candidates. As polled by YouGove March 10-12th. Trouble is that Real Clear Politics notes a March 10-12th YouGov poll having Trump 36 pct positive, 61 pct negative, almost precisely the opposite result, and the RCP link brings you to a YouGov page which shows those numbers.
