The Times says Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandoski was actually arrested, although not held:
A spokeswoman for Mr. Trump, Hope Hicks, said Tuesday that Mr. Lewandowski was “absolutely innocent of this charge,” that he would plead not guilty and that he had not been arrested but had merely been issued a “notice to appear.”
But Officer Joseph Beinlich, a spokesman for the department, said otherwise. “A notice to appear is an actual arrest,” he said.
The WaPo notes the "arrest" controversy and punts:
Shortly after Lewandowski turned himself in, a dispute erupted over whether he had been arrested. The Trump campaign insisted in a statement that he “was not arrested,” although a police report distributed to news outlets said his arrest occurred at 8:10 a.m.
A spokesman for the Jupiter Police Department said that Lewandowski was informed that he would be charged and that he voluntarily went to police headquarters, where he signed a form at 8:10 a.m. Tuesday to acknowledge his May 4 court date.
“He came in by himself, without us picking him up, and signed his notice to appear,” said officer Joseph Beinlich, a department spokesman. He added that because Lewandowski faces a misdemeanor charge, no booking photo was taken.
Obviously it is a minor point, but it doesn't seem as if it should be this mysterious.
As to the impact on Trump and his campaign, who knows?
No more a mystery than sitting US Senator Cruz finding out he was a Canadian citizen from a reporter.
Some things we just accept and move on.

I do remember him saying that Bush kept us safe after 3000 people died on American soil.

No. If a sink hole took out the Twin Towers, and Jeb and Rubio claimed that Bush kept us safe from sink holes, it does not mean the 1st sink hole was Bush's fault.
IIRC a little bit more from Sippy that night, I think he placed the fault on Clinton for not taking out OBL.
To me, that is more of an accusation against Bush. In essence Rubio is making it sound like snuffing OBL was the solution pre-Bush so it must have been on the table pre-911.

None of this silliness demonstrates Trump is either suitable or not suitable to be President. But it does give us all something to fight about.
All this is catnip to the media, because conflict, police, TRUMP. And the latest stupids from DC, fatuous snowflake whining from the campuses, and whatever horrors from the Mideast can be buried in the din of silliness. For CNN, this is almost as good as a plane wreck!
Posted by: Appalled | March 30, 2016 at 09:38 AM
OK I am back in DC but not happy about that, trust me.
Thanks again for all the congrats to YL2. As I mentioned, we are all thrilled for her.
My ONLY comment about the politics of the day is that each day in Palm Springs we took our hotel's shuttle bus to and from Indian Wells to watch the tennis. While there were a bunch of oldsters like us, there were also a lot of twenty somethings on the bus too. More often than not, I saw the youngsters watching YouTube Trump speeches on their phones...so often I made note to watch for that each day, and it happened time and time again.
Not only do the dogs not like the GOPe dog food, or the Donk crap, most of my contacts out there seemed to pay zero attention to the constant spin fed by the media and the campaigns. Based on that, I think a lot of this year is already baked into the cake. Frankly I feel the same way.
Just sayin.

I have a bunch of hardbound copies of a now-defunct French Magazine called L'Illustration. It apparently was the most popular weekly magazine in France prior to WWII, sort of a combination of Life and The Atlantic. Bought them at an auction last year.
Anyway, the bound volumes include issues from 1937 and 1938 with photos of Hitler, the crowds at his rallies, etc. My French is very weak, so I can only read about every 4th word, but the general tone seems to be a weird fascination rather than alarm.
It's eerie to look at those pictures, especially when the magazine is also covering the Paris Salon and the couturier fashions.
