This week in pictures sample made me laugh the most. Right click for whole pic;

President Obama on Friday questioned Donald J. Trump’s fitness for office

The nerve.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

--The Chinese will never tolerate that.--

Yes, well, the problem is of course once a country has nukes it is of no concern to that country what their bullying, expansionist neighbors will or won't tolerate.
Therein lies much of their appeal.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

As far as I can tell Trump's position on nuclear weapons is considerably closer to the US's historic position and vastly safer for us than Barry's insane unilateral disarmament.

Free James D!

Yes it is, Ig, not that the MSM will bother to tell us that.

Free James D!

I think the reality is that Obama would not use nuclear weapons under any circumstances.

Not even in the event of a WMD attack by a rogue state like North Korea or Iran.

Every single military action Obama has engaged in has either been deliberately counterproductive to our national interests (Libya), or designed to fail from the outset (the "surge" in Afghanistan). I would never expect him to use any military force in the actual defense of this country or its citizens.

daddy

A tad OT, but hopefully you guys won't mind.

Last night I went to the retirement ceremony for probably the craziest of my co-workers whom I have known these last 20 years. It was so odd, but somehow in character with his bizarre character. I think I have in previous years mentioned how if I write a novel he'll be the character. We first met 20 years back when we would do trips from Oakland to Alaska, and get 3 to 4 day layovers up here---he was an excellent pool player and always wanted a partner, so I wound up being it.
He is also the guy that 15 years back, once we both jumped from the 727 to the much larger MD-11, after a 2 AM out and back from Paris to Frankfort to Paris, he decided we needed to take the Flat Stanley drawing, done by his adopted daughter during wife number 2 phase, and take it to Père Lachaise Cemetery to be photographed at the tombstone of Jim Morrison.

It seemed like a good idea at the time (4 AM and 3 sheets to the wind) and of course it was, n'est pas?

Anyhow, to cut to the chase, walked into the Crows' Nest lounge on the top floor of our most elegant downtown hotel, the Captain Cook, with huge glass windows overlooking the city and the Cook Inlet.
Very lavish spread of wonderful foodstuffs, an open bar, and 40 or so assorted guests and friends, of whom I knew about a quarter.

My buddy, a very wealthy guy due to an industrial patent invented by his pop, I mingle around and discover that he has unexpectedly unloaded wife number 3, and new wife number 4 is standing there welcoming me, and I suddenly realize that I know her as we have been dog-walking acquaintances for the last few years who have on and off waved to each other and exchanged "Hey's" on the back trails at Kincaid Park. A very, very pretty lady, I am stunned and floored all at once.

In quick fashion I discover my man was able to hold on to the house in San Francisco, in Maui, and in Anchorage, and number 3 is apparently now back in China with the ex-in-laws. Amazingly, none of that part stuns me at all. It'd be exactly what I'd expect:)

So that was for openers.

Anyhow, as the evening proceeds, I notice that back in one section of the room he has set up a big screen monitor playing numerous shots of planes and locations around the world where he has landed and fooled around on layovers these last 38 years of his career. I notice, while watching some excellent shots of the big stone heads from Easter Island,
with my man in the the center of the pics, that the young Argentinian guy standing next to him is the guy I have heard scuttlebutt about thru the crew force---my man's new Spiritual Advisor. Then there is pics of the the 2 of them in St Peter's Square in the Vatican Courtyard in Rome underneath a double rainbow,
and finally there is a shot of the guru and the current Pope Francis hugging, and the young Guru handing Francis a letter. The rumors I'd heard turn out to be true---Ha!

Later, after much hobnobbing with all sorts my acquaintance/buddy/hero/partner in crime, takes the microphones and relates to us all many episodes of how much fun he has had these last 4 decades, but that how he now has become a "LightBringer," working to bring a new consciousness to the world. Number 4 then steps up to read a translated letter from the Guru, and the new game plan is that my man and a small entourage plane to spend 5 years flying around the world in his twin Engine private Business Jet, and visit Earth's "chakras" as discovered by the Guru, following the Guru's study of Plato's comments on Atlantis, and the intersection of the points of Pythagorus's Icosahedron and dodecahedron when mapped on the Globe.

The trip we are told, will originate in Antarctica, where the Spiritual Master has recently discovered a previously undiscovered pyramid, (erected by the Sumerians in some distant age, after they arrived here by spaceships), and 5 years later the trip will conclude back in Antarctica at the very same pyramid.

Then we had dessert.

Anyhow, tho' that project is not exactly my cup of tea at the moment, having (full disclosure) always been more a Mu fan than an Atlantean devotee, I think my former pool shooing partner is the perfect guy to undertake the job, especially since his son's career as an actor in Hollywood is starting to take off, after he did such a good job of getting stabbed in a reality TV episode of "Wives With Knives,"
therefore we might finally get the serious pushback those Hollywood Scientology dupes deserve.
Go Atlanteans!

I can go into more detail if anyone is interested, but I think I've pretty much covered the high points of last nights shindig. I am sorry that the Coen Brothers were not there to film it all, and most of all I am sorry that my friend is retiring from the company, because he was so good at drawing the attention of the muckity-mucks in power, that the rest of us were able to stay off the radar screen and pretty much out of trouble. That luxury is soon to be winging it's way to Antarctica, and lord knows it's going to be tough to find another "one of a kind character" like my buddy to step up and take the place as the new 'lightning rod' for the crew force that he was. Oh well, hope it ain't me.

Go 'Heels!

"Yeah, it was a mistake," he told columnist Maureen Dowd. "If I had to do it again, I wouldn't have sent it."Dowd was asking about an incident last month in which Trump retweeted a picture of Cruz, Texas Sen. Iggy, did you notice Mt. Shasta was listed on the chakra map? We always acknowledge the vortex as we zip by on our way northwards or southwards. We've nicknamed it Mt. Schatzi.

Mt. Shasta is California’s most beautiful mountain. On a clear day you can see it from at least 100 miles away. People who live near it have remarkable stories about the 14,162-foot Cascade volcano.

The most remarkable stories are the legends about the mysterious people who supposedly live inside the mountain. They are said to be descendants of an ancient society from Lemuria, a lost continent that sunk eons ago. These Lemurians supposedly live deep inside the mountain in apartments plated with gold. In this secret colony, they preserve their ancient customs.

Lemurians are commonly described as graceful and tall — seven feet and up — with long, flowing hair. They dress in white robes and sandals. They are said to have long, slender necks which they adorn with beautiful decorative collars made of beads or precious stones.

Perhaps their most unusual physical characteristic is a walnut-sized organ that protrudes from the center of their foreheads. This sixth-sense enables Lemurians to communicate among themselves by extra-sensory perception.

On the other hand Frau,

It is also interesting to note that in 1911 a solitary character walked out of the woods near the south side of the Mt Shasta Chakra stargate and explained in his lost language that his name was Iggy, which sadly was misunderstood and was then spread around as the name Ishi: THE STORY OF ISHI

There are coincidences in this world of course, but with such evidence staring us in the face surely it's time for somebody we all think we know and love, to come clean don't cha' think?

Today, defending The Donald, despite his outrageous remarks, is easier than defending 'Nova.

Another striking thing is the sensibility of the researchers, circa 1910 contrasted with the fact that 40 years earlier his relatives were still being massacred.

She dumped him and got a Ph.D in econ and worked for one of the liberal think tanks in DC, but probably is now retired.

I recall years back, probably in the 1980's reading the Ishi book and then visiting some display on campus at Berkeley of his life story and artifacts. I do recall how very respectful his scientist/friend was of him. I didn't know about the brain wars of the 1990's.

Odd how we have had books and incidents of Broca's Brain, Einstein's Brain, and Ted Williams head, being hauled around the country in Buick's and such over the last 50 years or so. What odd critters we are.

daddy, no one has brought up the connection between Ishi and Ursula Leguin who wrote, among others, "The Left Hand of Darkness" and "The Lathe of Heaven".

In the 92 years since the so-called last wild Indian was found cowering in an Oroville slaughterhouse, Alfred Kroeber's descendants have resisted speaking for him. After all, by what right does a privileged California clan represent a persecuted Indian simply because their father was the anthropologist who studied him and their mother, Theodora Kroeber, wrote a book that made him famous?

But that logic hasn't stopped people from quizzing the pair's sons, Karl and Clifton Kroeber. Their daughter, Ursula K. Le Guin, also deflects questions about Ishi that come up at readings of her bestselling science fiction books. Fellow police officers sometimes ask LAPD Capt. Scott Kroeber, Clifton's son, about the Native American once called "the wild man of Mt. Lassen."

It seems the family is inextricably tied to Ishi, the man said to have been the last North American Indian roaming the wilds. As the tale goes, his Yahi tribe was hunted and massacred in the late 1800s until only a handful remained. They hid out in the Mt. Lassen foothills, about 130 miles north of Sacramento, for 40 years. Finally, Ishi, apparently the last survivor, was driven out of the wilderness by hunger or despair, maybe both.

Slaughterhouse butchers found him, barefoot and emaciated, wearing a canvas shirt, with buckskin thongs hanging from his pierced ears. He was promptly jailed but was soon sprung from captivity by anthropologists Thomas Waterman and Alfred Kroeber, curator of the Museum of Anthropology at UC San Francisco. (The museum later moved to UC Berkeley and became the Phoebe A. Hearst Museum of Anthropology.)LA Times 2003

Ishi was too short to have been a Mt. Schatzi Lemurian.
