"Technical glitch," dontchaknow.

Miss Marple 2

lyle,

They have earned no benefit of the doubt from us. A technical glitch on just THAT portion seems highly suspect.

I am sure they will continue to tap dance.

lyle

Cynical much, MM? :-)

lyle

No wait, that's ME? So sorry for the projection. :-0

Porchlight

Primary seasons at JOM are often choppy. This year a bit more so, but that is more a reflection of the state of the nation than of individuals here. I agree that if we ignore the trolls and refrain from personal attacks, the ship has a good chance of making it to port.

Porchlight

Happy birthday, Mrs. Iggy.

Miss Marple 2

lyle,

When it comes to Obama, nothing would surprise me, including an executive order to execute all dogs in the country or the discovery that all the gold is being shipped by container to Iran.

So, yes, my inner cynic is in operation. LOL!

lyle

I know, MM. One of the Powerline dudes has a recurring theme about O becoming the satrap in the Woody Allen film, Bananas. Like you, nothing would surprise me anymore.

Theo

Porch --

Primaries tend to get "choppy" because we are disagreeing with people we mainly agree with. If a Bernie supporter or a Rodham supporter wandered in here, we would not care what they had to say. But since we are all pretty conservative, it mostly becomes a debate about personalities, strategy and tactics and not really policies. Those kind of disagreements can be the most "choppy." For a lot of people here, the real enemy is not Obama or Rodham, it is John Boehner or Mitch McConnell.

Porchlight

Theo, I agree with everything but your last sentence. It only seems at certain times that people see the GOPe that way. But we all (except the trolls) understand who the real enemies are.

anonamom

Ig, those are beautiful lyrics. Thanks for posting them for us.

And you reminded me--my only car regret is selling the 1999 Miata we bought the day I delivered my youngest son. My neighbor still drives his!

It was such a total blast to drive, which I did not do enough, being the momma of little ones at the time we had it.

Theo

Porch --

I hope that you are right. But from reading some of the posts, not everyone seems to share our perspective on this. The vitriol against the "GOPe" seems pretty intense at times.

lyle

Hilligula IS the enemy. Boehner and McConnell are enablers. I'm taking all bets the latter caves on Barry's SCOTUS nom. Good thing I lost all my guns in that unfortunate canoe accident.

lyle

Consider my last comment op cit to Theo's 2:50.

Theo

Lyle --

So noted. I really did laugh out loud to the reference to the "unfortunate canoe accident."

Truthbetold

Porch

You clearly do not understand who the real enemies are. That's why we are where we are as a nation. You take a simplistic view of things. Your enemy does not.

Whether you know it or not. Boehner and McConnell are the enemy.

Porchlight

It is intense, Theo, but nothing compared to the vitriol against the left, which is why I have hope we will be united in the fall if the GOPe doesn't screw up too bad.

I still think McConnell holds the line on SCOTUS. He values his job.

Theo

Porch --

I very much hope that we will be united in the fall. I do not really think that is a function of what the GOPe does.

I wish I saw a way for such party unity. As we have discussed before, if Trump is the nominee, there are simply too many people who will not "get over it" and close ranks. About 35% of Republican and Republican leaners have said that they would consider a third party if Trump is nominated. SOME of these will end up voting for him, but if even one in 8 Republican voters goes third party or stays home, he cannot win.

If Trump is NOT the nominee (which is of course my wish) then I do not see party unity either. Trump has a lot of support as is obvious from the voting thus far. If he runs third party or makes a big stink about how he was robbed of the nomination, that too will suppress GOP votes in November.

The only way to win in November IMHO is for Trump to enthusiastically endorse someone other than himself as the nominee after the convention.

I am looking out the window and see no airborne porcine creatures. But I will keep looking.

Truthbetold

Mitch McConnell's relationship with Harry Reid is friendlier than people realize.

Truthbetold

Trump's run for president was designed to cause these very problems

JeanD

Iggy, my heart goes out to you today.

My husband pre-ordered the first Miata and drove it every day for 15 years with a smile on his face. It was his toy and his joy for all of those years.

The car was red, of course, and the two of them earned a few well deserved speeding tickets over the course of their relationship. :)

Porchlight

Theo, what the GOPe chooses to do has everything to do with party unity in the fall. As you say there are no great choices, but some choices are far worse than others.

Truthbetold

Porch

Trump being the absolutely worst choice of all

Theo

Porch --

Please explain why you think that the GOPe controls whether there will be party unity?

I assume that the GOPe will try to keep Trump from being the nominee. If they do NOT do this or if they try and fail, then Trump is nominated and there is no party unity.

If the GOPe works to deny Trump the nomination and succeeds, I assume that he and his followers will go ballistic and there will be no party unity.

If Trump fails to win the nomination on his own and not because of something the GOPe does, their might be party unity, but that will not be because of the GOPe.

I see the only hope for party unity is if Trump himself is willing to sign on to a nominee other than himself. Maybe the GOPe can help bring that about, but I do not see how.

anonamom

Whoa--I meant 1989 Miata, not 99!
Like Jean's husband, mine got it hot off the boat.

Truthbetold

Porch

Do you think Trump would self fund a general election?

Buckeye

I think the chance of Trump enthusiastically endorsing any one is about zero.

Well maybe if someone waves a 787 under his nose:)

Miss Marple 2

Theo,

Why are you wasting your time with all of this repetitive hand-wringing?

No one here works on a campaign. No one here is part of the RNC.

Seriously, if you are so concerned about all of this, why are you here and not doing something?

I have explained my opinion on the race and am done. I vote in May and will watch to see what happens.

Frankly, I am scrolling by your stuff because I feel like you are here simply to drive me nuts with all of this.

We do not control whether or not there is a brokered convention. We do not control who will be the nominee if there is one. We will not control the VP choices, either. And we certainly, other than for ourselves as OUR CHOICE, do not control how other people feel.

This is my only post to you to BEG you to find another topic. If you do not, I am ignoring you from now on.

Threadkiller

We are now arguing about what we argue about.

:-)

Truthbetold

MM

Does that mean you are going to stop with the pro Trump garbage?

Theo

Miss Marple --

Here is the deal: I will post whatever I want, whether it meets with your approval or not. You may read or skip over whatever you want.

If somewhere along the line you got the impression that I post my thoughts to please YOU and if I fail to do that I should do something different, please be advised that this is not the case.

Miss Marple 2

Well, TK, maybe, but I am truly sick of reading the same thing!

That's why I quit posting my opinion.

Who wants to read me going on and on about what others think is lunacy, and then read others going on and on about THEIR opinion, and why I am wrong?

Nuts to all of that!

Wind has sure picked up here. Glad we didn't try to move granddaughter's bedroom today; I don't relish having a mattress blow off on the highway. Will work on that tomorrow.

Miss Marple 2

OK, Theo, I will now ignore you.

Have a nice day.

And bless your heart.

Truthbetold

MM

So you are now going to regale us with your daily activities?

Theo

Miss Marple --

There are several billion people who pay no attention whatsoever to what I say. I do not think one more makes the slightest difference.

I gently suggest that you are not sick of "repetition." I think that if you would gladly read comments that you agreed with over and over again.

That is the problem with a forum like this. A lot of people and a lot of opinions. If you only want to read things that you agree with, perhaps you have come to the wrong place.

Bless your heart too.

Truthbetold

Perhaps MM, you should just post your thoughts on your refrigerator.

clarice

Sorry about old friends who've left permanently and taken a hiatus. I agree with porch , and hope the discussions here will return to their normal good natured, civil tone.

Truthbetold

clarice

Perhaps they left out of boredom?

lyle

Out of the mouths of babes...

Truthbetold

lyle

Did you bore them out of here?

narciso

you tell me theo, who do they see as the real enemy?

http://libertyunyielding.com/2016/04/02/senators-reward-office-civil-rights-budget-increase-overreaching-power-grabs/

Thomas Collins

Civil or not, I hope our hiatus people recognize that friendship trumps (so to speak) incivility.

Perhaps that view is a function of how I grew up. We'd bloody each other's noses (especially the girls, who instilled fear in the toughest boys), and then we'd all make up by finding an underage drinking spot.

Not that I'm encouraging underage drinking, you understand!

Porchlight

Theo, I think it's pretty obvious that if the GOPe forces a third candidate at the convention it will be the worst of all possible choices and will result in disaster for the party and the country. That's all I'll say on it because it's a discouraging topic and also a little boring at this point. Still hoping for a good outcome.

Truthbetold

narciso

Who controls the purse strings?

narciso

Yes, but I feel like Admiral Josh Painter just about now, the above link and the pilgrimage to
Garland, suggests they at best don't have a clue,

Gentlejim

So, does anyone have any opinion on the current election cycle?

No... How about this weather?

Miss Marple 2

Hi, Gentlejim.

What do you think Pence's chances are in the fall?

Myself, he's made a lot of enemies on both sides of the aisle and I think we will be talking about Governor Gregg.

Miss Marple 2

http://abcnews.go.com/US/20-stung-swarm-bees-arizona-mosque/story?id=38104500

Gentlejim

I agree. I'll be very surprised if Gregg doesn't win. I'm interested to see if either candidate comes to the FOP conference this year since it's in Merrillville.

Gentlejim

Never heard of Islamophobic bees before. If they were African killer bees which side gets blamed? I know it was the white dude's fault.

Threadkiller

Achmed? This is Abdul.

I was unable to procure the "Stingers" you requested.

I sent the closest thing I could find.

Bee well.

Miss Marple 2

TK,

LOL!

Texas Liberty Gal

That was a very interesting article about the bees Miss M. Wish it had been locusts.

Miss Marple 2

TLG,

Well, yes, but locusts don't sting.

However, it would have been more Biblical.

Maybe next they will be hit by frogs falling out of the sky or boils.

Yes, I know this is about Alaska economy, but right now I don't want Obama cutting any more troops anywhere, and so, I am glad to see Lisa Murkowski lived up to her reputation, although I bet her next target is Politico for using that picture:

Jack is Back! (As An Officially Declared Islamaphobe)

When leaving my parking spot on Main St., after our early dinner, I looked up to one of the 2nd floor offices of a store in front of me. It was the office of a Landscape Architect, I don't know of but they had two large "Bernie" and "Sanders for Prez" signs propped up against their picture window.

Now, a landscape architect is not in much demand of the merchant community or the worker bees in Southampton but more the people from the City building second home McMansions. And who would those folks likely be? Why Wall Street types and more than likely hedge fund managers and principals.

I wonder how this guy's business has been lately and if it's fallen off, does he have a clue as to why?
