Mr. Art du Deal wakes up to the news that running for President is not a weekend-only effort for dilettantes.
Years back I thought that Al Gore's inability to retain a campaign chairman might serve as a clue to how nimbly he would run the White House. Then again, as I recall Bush 43 kept together virtually the same well-oiled machine for his Texas gubernatorial runs and two White House efforts, and how well did that work?
Guess I'll go first.

Trump is loyal, very loyal, to C. Lew. How much loyalty has Trump shown C. Lew? According to C. Lew “More than I could possibly fathom.”
C. Lew is grateful, very grateful, for the much diminished role as a body man and scheduler, thanks to Trump's loyalty. Because like Trump said "He wasn’t quite as effective for the past couple of months.”
Trump is smart, very smart, to be bringing in the likes of Rick Wiley. How smart? He's bringing in the guy who managed to clear Walker from the field by running his campaign into the ground long before any votes were even cast, helping Trump become the front runner.
Posted by: RIF | April 19, 2016 at 12:29 PM
In truth, I probably would have done the same thing with the lying Toady. Firing him gives a victory to the Legacy Media, so don't give the bastards the satisfaction. The guy lied to the principal, so he is OUT of the circle of trust; Trump seems to have done that.
Posted by: NK | April 19, 2016 at 12:34 PM
I think that's probably about right, NK. Whatever Trump does with C. Lew within the organization is his own business and I'm sure C. Lew is on the outs at least somewhat. Fine.
BUT he keeps his job and Trump once again demonstrates that he is not a tomato can afraid of his own shadow.
People appreciate a loyal boss. He's saying to voters: I'm not going to throw you under the bus, either.

This is why I like where USA politics is heading: a full on socialist can't win, but a full on conservative like Cruz (or Daniels, or Perry) can:

Climate Sharia-ist Al Gore during the recount, NYT:
"This controversy in the year 2000, as difficult as it might seem to us, is nothing compared to the election of 1800, where Thomas Jefferson finally prevailed after 36 ballots in the Congress, if my history serves me correctly.... Jefferson's healing speech in March of 1801 is one of the most notable in the history of the presidency: "We are all Republicans. We are all Federalists."...
I have, publicly and privately, urged my supporters to show restraint in word and deed, not only in my speeches but also in numerous conference calls and private conversations. I have urged no one associated with my cause to ever charge that the other side is trying to steal the election or take the result away in an unethical way. I think such language is damaging to our republic..."
Blonde Obama: I wuz robbed! You're crooked! You were bribed! The system is rigged! It's a disgrace! It's a phony deal! You're corrupt! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!

Pull him out of the limelight?
A wise move by Trump once again.
Posted by: Threadkiller | April 19, 2016 at 01:05 PM
Trump's guerrilla campaign, while quite an achievement, wasn't going to take Trump to 50% plus one. Trump is now adjusting to that reality. I view the reorganization as a plus for Trump as a potential leader.
As far as C. Lew goes, how many Duke and Duke consultants could have run a guerrilla campaign as well as C. Lew did. Not many if any.
Posted by: Thomas Collins | April 19, 2016 at 01:12 PM
where USA politics is heading
The problem is the shifting goalposts. As I think Iggy has pointed out, a "full on conservative" today has roughly the politics of JFK. So where the USA is heading is more like moving toward the back of the boat as the boat heads toward the waterfalls.

The $64 question is whether THE CONSEQUENCES of OPM Famine and going over the falls are less dire in the USA than in Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela Japan and EuTopia. For a host of reasons I think they will be, so we emerge from Socialism and return to fiscal sanity by elections without gunfire... and there will be gunfire in Caracas, Rio, and Paris before they settle affairs there. My expectation we do it the USA by making the Dems a minority party for a generation.

There should be no surprises during the Maine GOP convention this week-end in Bangor. Ted Cruz won the caucus,so he will be apportioned 12 delegates,Trump nine and Kasich two. Dr. Carson will be the keynote speaker Friday night. Carly Fiorina will speak on behalf of Cruz on Saturday.
Howie Carr will be broadcasting his radio show from the convention on Friday afternoon.

They all knew Jr well and for several years each but never met each other, and they all say he was a sweet and decent guy, and they never heard a bad thing from anyone else. The last coupe of years of his life he basically cared for his mentally ill wife, as well as running a magazine and being JFK Jr. Sounds impossible, but apparently it's true.

Porch, what are you using to control you cat's thyroid?
With our Daisy, she couldn't tolerate the medicine and the vet wanted to do the Radio Cat procedure (radioactive iodine injection to kill off part of the thyroid, then the cat stays there for 10 days until her poop isn't radioactive anymore) but we were not down with that. We looked into it ourselves and found another vet who was willing to try diet to control it instead.
We put her on Scoence Diet y/d flavor food (wet and dry both) and we couldn't give her anything else. It lowered her thyroid levels to normal within a month and they stayed there until she passed away (three years later)

Yeah, that was my reaction, but the video seems focused on the location of the price sticker, which somehow invalidates his claim that he couldn't have opened the package and done the lousy lettering job himself. It ought to be pretty easy to prove that no one in the store did the lettering, unless the guy happened to have the exact same frosting that the store uses. Anyway, I'm sure the guy is toast, but he'll blame the pressures of being gay and black in a Rethuglican state.

" But he's got good things to say about the Cuban government, too."
My guess is that is why he was allowed to speak.
Here are the rules for the slaves.
"Anyone who broke the rules received a bad report and was threatened with being sent back to Cuba or never again being selected for a medical brigade.
Team members are also instructed to keep watch over one another. If individuals defected or broke a rule, the person assigned to monitor them was also sanctioned.
There are written regulations to the effect that team members must “inform their superiors of any violations of disciplinary standards they are aware of, as well as inappropriate conduct that is detrimental to the prestige of the mission”. It is also considered a disciplinary infraction to “maintain friendships or relationships of other kinds with Cuban citizens… or foreigners who hold hostile views, or are against the Cuban Revolution”.
The regulations make it difficult to interview Cuban health professionals working abroad. The rules say it is an infraction to “articulate opinions or views to the press, radio or television that compromise the Cuban collaboration [with host nations], or that concern internal situations in the work centres where they provide their services or in the country where they are based, without prior instructions and authorisation on these matters”."

"The doctor whom IWPR interviewed about her experiences in Venezuela said that when she arrived there, her passport was taken away to stop her defecting or requesting asylum at a United States embassy."

If I'm thinking of the price stickers that WF usually uses, you could probably peel and replace or move them if you were careful.
The fact that he requested the bakery staff to write "Love Wins" at the top of the cake with nothing in the middle suggests he had this planned out.
WF says the employee in question is also LGBT. This sounds terrible but what if that employee was known to Jordan and somehow a target?

In the video it can be seen that the cake box had a clear plastic panel exposing the top of the cake.
While it's impossible for us to tell in the video what's there, obviously the guy buying it could since he's looking right at it as he buys it.

There was some petty internet squabble today over alleged but unlikely plagiarism by someone I never heard of named Shaun King, but from which it came out that Chelsea Clinton is on the Board of Directors of IAC Corporation, the parent company of the Daily Beast. Others on that Board include people like Michael Eisner, Edgar Bronfman, Jr., etc. Trying to figure out what her qualifications might be.
