Baffling, indeed. While we wait--cathy f posted this on FB--let's take a break and enjoy the possibilities:https://scontent-iad3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-0/s526x395/13076983_10154021702916427_7425598632437065445_n.jpg?oh=e2c38b30b6ef58fd9c796274fd80865c&oe=579E2F1E

CLINTON TAKES MD, OTHERS CLOSE

henry

How can RI and DE be too close to call? You could exit poll the entire populations of both states in about 5 minutes.

henry

TM, the Acela Primary makes sense... I've ridden Amtrak to all of them in the same day -- without getting out of my seat.

Why do I have this feeling that all the people voting for Trump are dems and come the GE he is toast.

Because you haven't thought it thru, Enlightened.

I admit I've dvr'd but not really followed the last few episodes,

Hi Clarice - could be. That's a lot of disenfranchised people.

I'd bet on it.. ;-)

And I have..

clarice

narciso, look at the bright side:Health insurance for already dead people has to be substantially less.

clarice

Trump gets DE.

narciso

true, but reanimated, are probably higher premiums,

hrtshpdbox

Looks like Trump will win five states tonight that no Republican (or Trump, for that matter) has a chance of winning in November. Cruz only wins states that Republicans actually can carry in the general. Must be something worth pondering there.

clarice

Yeah--like maybe once again a republican might win the northweast.

clarice

Northeast

hrtshpdbox

Yeah--like maybe once again a republican might win the northweast.

Somehow, that's not what I take away from it.

Threadkiller

How many of the original 13 colonies has Trump won?

Threadkiller

Maybe Cruz can talk the Dems into a caucus for the general.

daddy

Why would a public research university boasting a top-100 geology program deliberately hide its work? Because, as lead researcher Amy Townsend-Small explained, "our funders, the groups that had given us funding in the past, were a little disappointed in our results. They feel that fracking is scary and so they were hoping our data could point to a reason to ban it."

Neo,

Thanks much for posting that from the other thread.

Porchlight

How many of the original 13 colonies has Trump won?

All of them except New Jersey, which is hardly in doubt.

Jack is Back!

The point here is just that. Not magic. People of any politic are f**king pissed. What I am amazed at is the parties haven't figured that out yet.

Good night. Slasp leeker en tots morgen.

clarice

I think many disaffected Sanders supporters will vote Trump .

Marlene

Cruz won Maine, but Maine was part of Massachusetts in colonial times. : )

Porchlight

Yep, Marlene, so....all of them. :)

narciso

I think this is so, the dinosaurs were more selfaware. red queen is winning but by smaller margins

Kasich and Ted Cruz will get no more donations from anyone with a brain.

clarice

The preference cascade keeps rolling.

hrtshpdbox

I think many disaffected Sanders supporters will vote Trump .

It's true, if Trump actually becomes the nominee, many disappointed Sanders voters will choose Trump over Hillary. Despite Sanders and Trump ostensibly holding mostly opposite views on issues of the day (by November, of course, Trump may be calling himself a Republican Socialist, but never mind that). The thing that Trump and Sanders voters have in common is that they're "mad", they're "angry", and who can dare suggest that stomping one's feet is less important than boring old policy positions.

Momto2

I agree clarice! I have a family member who has campaigned for Sanders. He states he will vote for Trump over H. I suspect there are many others that would as well.

Threadkiller

All of them except New Jersey, which is hardly in doubt.

I would have never guessed a birther would do so well.

daddy

Are there any over/unders wrt tonight's results? What constitutes better or worse than expected for Trump or Cruz?

Pat Caddell just said the margins of victory by Trump tonight were stunning. He is correct.

I was watching FOX Business for their coverage tonight, not regular FOX. It's much more watchable and much less "Look at me, I'm a big media big-shot." Cavuto is fun and funny and self deprecating, and Jo Ling Kent doing the primary updates is wonderfully cute.

Porchlight

Cavuto is really first class. He reminds me of Brit Hume in his more unflappable days.

clarice

Even more likely--the FBI investigation will result in a recommendation for indictment, Lynch may not go along, in which case there will be multiple damaging leaks about her from intl agents.Leaks that may well force what's left of the centrist dems to stay home or vote R

hrtshpdbox

Jo Ling Kent doing the primary updates is wonderfully cute.

That undoubtedly must be exquisitely true. I don't get FOX Business with my goofy Xfinity set-up, grrrr.

Momto2

boring old policy positions

Do you mean the boring old policies that the GOPe has been supporting (or not fighting against) for the last 7+ years?

Threadkiller

who can dare suggest that stomping one's feet is less important than boring old policy positions.

This tripe again?

Boo hoo for you.

IVR, mainly because of Cruz's immigration policy positions.

clarice

Right now Sanders is ahead in RI and De

Porchlight

I would guess it would have a stay home/demoralizing effect more than anything, clarice. But I'll take it.

Along those lines, my Sanders friends know he's toast, but if he stumps for Hillary they are going to go around the bend. So let's hope he does.

hrtshpdbox

Do you mean the boring old policies that the GOPe has been supporting (or not fighting against) for the last 7+ years?

Sure, why not, I mean those, and all day long I prefer those policy positions to random foot-stompings.

clarice

It doesn't matter that your policy positions are more polished if you can't get the votes.Look who's foot stamping. If those policies were so gosh darn wonderful why aren't the voters buying. Wonkery without successful marketing is not worth much.

clarice

Traditional Dems bolting.http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2016/04/democrats-worried-union-members-support-trump-tops-hillary-bernies-support-combined/

Threadkiller

😭

Momto2

Sure, why not, I mean those, and all day long I prefer those policy positions to random foot-stompings.

I suggest that what is happening to my country is worth a LOT more than merely foot stomping. If you want to characterize everyone who thinks we need to stop illegal immigration as "stomping their feet" then go right ahead.

clarice

Clinton got 8 delegates; Sanders 13 in RI

hrtshpdbox

Boo hoo for you.
Don't cry for me, tk-tina. I'm feeling pretty confident about my views of the word...you too?

IVR, mainly because of Cruz's immigration policy positions.
Don't know what IVR stands for. But are we saying that Cruz is suffering at the polls because of his immigration stance? Immigration, ranked pretty much dead last among issues that GOP voters care about? The voters are flocking to Trump because of his immigration stance, really?

daddy

My good news for the day is that my siblings have signed an agreement for our family-owned newspaper to redeem their shares and resign from the board of directors. It has taken considerable time and effort.

I am delighted

Great news, SBW. Terrific.

Truthbetold

Clarice

You're celebrating the guy who backed Hillary Clinton's bagman. Why?

http://www.dailywire.com/news/5246/trump-donated-25000-virginia-governor-who-just-let-hank-berrien

hrtshpdbox

If those policies were so gosh darn wonderful why aren't the voters buying.

Some admittedly baffled observers suggest that the voters apparently have no idea what they're doing this time around.

Momto2

I don't know the history of your struggles SBW but congratulations on getting things resolved. I love my local paper and it is the only one I read faithfully.

clarice

Maybe those observers need to clean their crystal balls.

Porchlight

The voters are flocking to Trump because of his immigration stance, really?

Yeah, really.

What stance did they flock to ¡Jeb! for?

daddy

I know a lot of folks who dislike listening to Trump, but I don't know anyone who can stand to listen to Hillary. Geebus, she is awful.

hrtshpdbox

If you want to characterize everyone who thinks we need to stop illegal immigration as "stomping their feet" then go right ahead.

Now there's some artful Trumpery right there. No candidate who ran for the GOP nomination this year said that we didn't need to stop illegal immigration. Trump, if he gets the nomination, will get crushed during the general, because the vast middle, who make up the greatest part of the electorate, are not stomping their feet so hard that they'll vote for someone like Trump. See you all next week, folks.

clarice

Trump ran a low cost brilliant campaign, showing he knows what his opponents did not--you need to campaign differently in this age. This suggests to me that he is more likely to get done some of the really important things that the wonks have not been able to accomplish and which the people desperately want.

Truthbetold

Congrats SBW

Now ride it into the turf.

Miss Marple 2

SBW,

I have always thought that papers should go to local coverage which is ignored by national news. Out local county paper is doing much better than the Indianapolis Star.

My theory is that parents like to see their kids' pictures in the paper, merchants like to see features on their stores, and everyone wants to read about local sports. (In Indiana, we have a network which is syndicated which carries the local football and basketball scores all fall and winter, along with interviews with the coaches.)

Plus, COUPONS!

Good luck to you, as I think local papers are important. They bind a community together.

Porchlight

That's wonderful, sbw.

Threadkiller

More popcorn please.

I think many disaffected Sanders supporters will vote Trump .

Clarice,

Charlie Gasperino just said exactly the opposite, so I'm confident you are correct.

clarice

Congratulations, SBW.

Truthbetold

Clarice

What "really important things" do you and your insider friends expect Trump to get done?

narciso

yes too many papers are just a shell for the ap wires, mind you their own local offerings are horrible,

Miss Marple 2

clarice,

I agree. People are not understanding how things have changed, and a good portion og the GOP still doesn't understand how upset the voters are.

Example: my grandson doesn't even bother with Twitter. He is on Snapchat and drops an informational post on Facebook about once a week in order to keep his mom and me informed. He isn't watching TV (too busy at school) and when hedoes watch something, it's with Netflix.

His music comes from iTunes, so radio.

All the money spent on TV and radio ads misses him entirely.

Momto2

No candidate who ran for the GOP nomination this year said that we didn't need to stop illegal immigration.

Yeah, they say a lot of things....but what have they actually done?

Looking at Bill Clinton on the sidelines applauding Hillary, he looks exactly as phonily insincere as Mickey Rooney looks as he's applauding Judy Garland's act in one of those old Andy Hardy movies.

Porchlight

Nate BRONZE said that Trump would "probably" do well tonight.

daddy

Newt's up on Cavuto's Show. My transcription:

Newt: Look, I think after tonight, somebody can make a lot of money in Washington by offering "Trump Acceptance Courses" for the hard corp, and helping them walk thru the angst, the psychological trauma, the difficulties they'll have coming to grips with reality. The fact is, if you look at the size of his margins, I can't imagine why anybody would argue that anyone else has the chance of becoming the Nominee. The Party would tear itself apart if somebody else stepped in. This guys going to have millions of votes more than anybody else. There's no reason to believe California, where he's already ahead by 18 points, 49 to 31, is going to get any better for Cruz or Kasich. So I just look at all this stuff and I can't imagine why people think that there's any alternative in the future other than Donald Trump.

Cavuto: I just want to be clear on the process, that he might not get to 1,237. but he is so close to it and so far ahead, that people will just sort of fall in line. Is that the idea?

Newt: Well first of all I think there;s a pretty good chance that he'll get to 1,237. Second, lets say he's at 1,200, and that doesn't count the various people in Pennsylvania, many of whom have said that they will in fact vote with their Congressional District. Look at the size of his margins in Pennsylvania. I think when you look out and you say, "this is the guy who wrote The Art of The Deal", and he's going to be sitting there the day after June 7th, lets say he's 50 votes short. There are going to be 300 or 400 if you count Rubio's votes for example, theres going to be 3 or 400 uncommitted Voters. Every one of them will be given a chance to fly to Mara-Largo in a trump Airplane to spend a week chatting about policy with Donald, with Golf in the afternoon after the policy sessions, and hopefully out of all that to decide they have found the right candidate. What are the other 2 guys going to offer them? (Newt laughs)

Miss Marple 2

Trump Acceptance Course, Lesson 1:

Close your eyes. Imagine Melania Trump in her Inaugural gown, walking out of the portico of the White House.

"Velcome to ze Vite House," she says. And then repeats it in 4 other languages.

After which she announces the end to the Michelle Obama school lunch program, because "Eet ees deesgusting."

More Newt in the back and forth...

Newt: Guys, notice first of all, he is over performing. He over performed last eek in New York. he's over performing tonight. I think he's going to keep on over performing.

Cavuto: So what do u want to hear from him tonight?...

Newt: Look, I think he'd be better off to be a little bit more Presidential. He doesn't agree. When you have a guy who's come this far, this fast on his own gun, it's a little bit much for me to say "I have a better idea of what Donald Trump ought to do."

Cavuto: Should he talk about "Lying Ted?"...

Newt: Laughing. Look, I have no idea what he will do. I think what he should do is be more presidential. The other night when he actually referred to Senator Cruz I thought we were making some progress. That lasted about12 hours. (Big laughter from the panel) But it's not because he doesn't have good habits. It's because he believes defining people very aggressively, shrinks them, and makes it impossible for them to be effective opponents.

Miss Marple 2

narciso,

I don't know anyone who buys from Ali Baba.

When I first read about them, I checked out their site. It seems to be all new stuff which is made in China.

I think the Chinese are selling stuff to each other.

Buckeye

pretty much everybody in China I know who is making and trying to peddle something.

Miss Marple 2

Trump says the democrats are treating Bernie unfairly, and he should run as an independent.

There's your play for the Bernie voters, which, as Momto2 has said, he will get quite a few.

My granddaughter will vote Trump in the fall if there is no Bernie. Daughter might do so as well.

Buckeye

Exactly right that alibaba is all about Chinese selling to Chinese. Still the biggest emerging market in the world.

Focused on supply chain formation mostly.

For a bunch of commies, the Chinese might be the most entreprenuerial group of people I have ever seen.

Still making mostly crap, but they are VERY busy selling to each other, and arguing over the price.
