Polls close in Indiana at 7 PM Eastern.
OK, the analysts are calling this for Trump, who wins all the delegates.
Continued drama on the Hillary/Bernie side, however.

Heard on the radio that absentee ballots and early voting ballots in my county, Johnson, were 5300 Trump vs. 3000 Cruz. We have 2 of the biggest evangelical churches in the city area, so if that percentage holds I think Cruz didn't get as much of the evangelical vote as he had counted on.

Goodwin: ...To start diminishing and demonizing the supporters of the Republican party's nominee seems to me extremely unusual.
Lou: I think we can say with some sense of irony as well, as the Republican Establishment itself has been doing for months now, that it is demeaning the voters and supporters of Donald Trump.
The Whore: Being old, the only recollection I have uhhh, you have to go back to 1964, when Goldwater and Rockefeller battled it out, and at the end of the day Goldwater had a big win and Rockefeller was booed off the stage. My sense at this point in time, Cruz is not going to have a very warm audience there. The quicker he gets out of the race the better he will be.

Lou: ..Now there seems to be no invective (Cruz) won't hurl, no insult he will not try to spew. This is stunning stuff. Your reaction.
Herman Cain: My reaction, Ted Cruz threw a Hail Mary with the so-calld Kasich alliance. That didn't work. He threw a Hail Mary with the Carly Fiorina appointment as the VP candidate when he didn't have the nomination. His 3rd Hail Mary quite frankly, is "Nasty." It's not working...The voice of the people is being heard.

You know, I have heard some psychologists say that the key to reaching a goal is to act like you will accomplish it.

Lou Dobbs: Speaking of luck no one get luckier than The Whore Ed Rollins when he thinks about politics. That's why we're all pleased to be associated with him, again calling correctly Indiana for Trump
The Whore: I think I missed one. I thought Cruz would get one Congressional District, I think he didn't get it, so uhhh, uhhh...
Lou: So you do have some flaw.
The Whore: Massive, massive, massive victory tonight. This was a guy who as I said earlier, 30 days ago that Cruz was favored to win this State, it was looked at, it was argued that it would be like Wisconsin. This was a crushing defeat for him. You and I are old fighters. You know fighters want to keep fighting on and on, and you always need when you're hurt badly someone to stop the fight for you. Someone needs to throw the towel in...because this is going nowhere and it's only going to get worse, and the ugliness of the campaign in the last few days, I think just diminishes Cruz and diminishes the whole process.

Yep. America needs an undiminished Ted Cruz.

There is a famous old line in Plutarch where some old mediocre character did something in the manner of his death that was admirable, to which the comment became, "nothing became him in his life as his taking leave of it."
Coriolanus never figured that out.
Tonight in a sense, the great Ted Cruz has a chance to do something noble in taking his leave, or to diminish himself. The arguments he used against Kasich now completely apply to Ted Cruz.
Do the right thing Ted. Redeem yourself and rescue us with an example of a noble, moral exit. That is the noble and moral thing to do tonight, no matter how much it pains you personally.

Praises Indiana and praises America as the nation we all love. Starting out correctly. Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness, and that they come from God and should not be taken away by man of Government.
And power concentrated is power abused.
It has been my great privilege to stand alongside one of the great citizens of this extraordinary nation--Ted Cruz.
She's doing well. 100 positive, not negative. Oops, now she says "as we fight on for the nation we hold dear."
So the question is still up in the air.

Posted by: clarice | May 03, 2016 at 08:39 PM
narcios,
I posted an article a couple of days ago from Nate Silver's site called "Indiana is Weird."
It explained that we are more working-class South than traditional conservative middle-class Wisconsin.
In addition, the undercurrents of the division caused by Mike Pence and RIFRA were totally ignored.
Trump understood the state better, even though he grew up in Queens.
First of all, the leaving of Carrier brought trade deals and loss of jobs to the forefront, which has been a continuing topic on talk radio for years.
Secondly, the ugly RIFRA fight which left Pence hated by both Christian conservatives and the gay community made Cruz's talk about transgenders a poison pill. While I do not agree with transgenders being allowed in bathrooms due to the ability of predators to pretend they are TG, it was NOT the issue to bring up when everyone is still aggravated about the entire RIFRA episode.
Finally, an endorsement by Pence is nothing compared to Knight, Keady, and Holz.
We are not at all like Wisconsin, yet most of the pundits thought we were.

I expect we'll have more tomorrow...

Ted Cruz: God Bless the Hoosier State.
Let me tell you about the America that I love. (Excellent start Ted.)
Our rights come from God almighty. Life, Liberty, the Pursuit of Happiness. Praises the Constitution.
Equal rights for all. (Good strong positive, uplifting speech.) Optimistic.
Recapitulating America's ideals quickly but effectively. Praising his mom and dad, and what hope and opportunity this Nation gave to both of them and to millions of others. Explains why we are an exceptional nation. Praises Ronald Reagan.
We must unite our Party now.
Explains the weakness of our Obama/Clinton leadership and how that empowers our enemies.
Asks a number of rhetorical questions of what will do from here on out? Good stuff or bad stuff, deadly stuff or wonderful stuff, enslaving stuff or liberating stuff?
Now he is thanking all the people who helped him fund his campaign that allowed him to ask those pointed questions for America during this campaign.
Thanks his supporters, his wife, his daughters, his parents, Carly Fiorina...and the people.
Says he would continue on as long as there was a viable path to victory. Says there no longer is such a path open. Says he left all his effort on the field, and so with a heavy heart and boundless optimism, he is suspending his campaign.
"But I am not suspending our fight for Liberty. I am not suspending our fight to defend the Constitution, the judo-Christian values that built America." Says he will continue this fight with all of his strength and all of his ability.
Good. Well done Ted. Noble. You did the right thing at the time it needed to be done.
