Continuing as a US senator is not exactly rotting.
At least he had the courage of his convictions and fought the good fight.

Beasts of England

It's unprecedented to speak out against your party's front runner in the primary. It's extraordinarily irresponsible. If he wants to endorse someone, that's great, but to run his mouth against any individual like that? Reprehensible.

And you've become increasingly disingenuous, maryrose. It's tiresome. And who is the 'we' and 'us' you keep referencing? Good grief...

jimmyk

And so it begins: The NYT has a "Special Report":

Donald Trump has repeatedly unnerved women in private encounters over 40 years. Here are their stories.

Won't link it or even read it. The NYT is a parody of a serious newspaper.

Threadkiller

They sent him to Washington to represent their concerns.
Oh?

From TM'link:

Earlier this week, running effectively unopposed, Trump carried Nebraska 61 to 18 percent over Ted Cruz, whose name still appeared on the ballot.

Seems like their concern is to put Trump in the Oval Office. Sasse's conscience can override that?

daddy (go Tycho Brahe!)

Oh, noze!!

This reminds me of an odd medical story I came across a few days back, something called "Empty Nose Syndrome: Is "Empty Nose Syndrome" Real? And If Not, Why Are People Killing Themselves Over It?

It's a long one, but since it's the weekend it may be of interest if you've got spare time.

I thought it interesting reading some years back that the lead singer for Aussie Rock-band INXS, had had a brain injury causing him to lose his sense of smell and taste, and that the depression that resulted ultimately lead to him committing suicide.

This new "Empty Nose" Syndrome, seems to arise in folks who have had nasal surgery to correct deviated septums, and that in some patients, when perhaps too much of some of the inner nasal tissue is removed, the unwanted side result is a sensation that there is no nose, and in the case of the subject in this article and others, massive depression leading to suicide.

Just thought I'd post it to see if Dr Anonomom has ever heard of it and had any input. I couldn't remember if she was an Ear/Nose/Throat gal. Makes me think I might just be better off making momma live with my snoring.

Miss Marple 2

61% of Nebraska GOP voters supported Trump.

Sasse is not paying attention.

Probably believing his press clippings.

MaryD

A bit OT, but is anyone else here ready to give that little creep Josh Ernest an atomic wedgie?

The dream of my life at this point is to beat the living daylights out of him (On live TV).

Miss Marple 2

I agree, MaryD.

He reminds me of this:

MaryD

With apologies to mom and dad, who tried to bring me up properly.

First he threatens us with jihad if we don't let Muslims in. Now this.

Voting for Trump is important to send a message to the rest of the world that we are not surrendering.

Particularly to this Khan guy, who is way too full of himself.

MaryD

Thanks,Miss Marple! Between the two of us he would not have a chance!

What a clueless twit

I love being led around by the nose by our betters. I particularly love being told to love it by vacuous twits.

anonamom

I have no problem with someone not endorsing Trump for conscientious reasons.

The problem is with people in "leadership" positions in the Republican party who are ANNOUNCING they are not endorsing the obvious candidate.

There is NOTHING they are going to do to change his essential personality; if he is unsuitable to be the fellow with that nuclear football, then say so at a 8pm press conference, change the rules for the convention and nominate somebody else.

But the crap that has been going on since Indiana is utterly juvenile. Middle school!

Hopefully, the word (poll results, whatever) is filtering through to the clueless ones that Trump isn't going to have a problem with Hispanics, or employed blacks, or even college educated whites outside of the Acela corridor.

These are the people that kept Jeb! in forever, which knocked out Rubio.
And don't seem to understand that every vote for Trump and Cruz was a big "we are so done with you" to the GOPe. Add those votes up, boys.

Not to mention taking out Cantor, and getting rid of Boehner.

Geez, are they deaf, dumb and blind????

Theo

Jimmyk --

Yes, so it begins. The first of many many hit pieces by the NYT. But they persuade no one, just confirm their readers high opinion of themselves and low opinion of anyone else.

daddy (go Tycho Brahe!)

BTW,

I did not remember that Tycho Brahe had a pet moose that drank beer. Apparently it drank so much at some nobles party it fell down some stairs killing itself.

Beasts of England

Exactly, anonamom!! I tally the #NeverGOPe vote at ~70%. :)

Awww, thanks, maryrose . . . and clarice from last thread.

I've now been married 22 years to the woman who hung the moon. I am the luckiest man who ever lived.

I have felt that way wrt Josh Earnest.Ditto apologies to my mom and dad.
Beasts you and I are opposites on the Meyers Briggs test and I am sorry if telling the facts is tiresome to you.
Personal attacks exception Hillary and Obama I consider counter- productive.
Unprecedented?
How about at the convention Ford and Romney.
There the actual nomination was at stake and people took sides.

It is to get the strongest candidate in November.

Miss Marple did you ever think that Indiana would be the clincher for Mr. Trump? That state was so important.

Captain Hate

That sounds like a quote from The Rock.

Miss Marple 2

anonamom,

I think they are BOUGHT.

The Chamber of Commerce is making their displeasure known. That's another group I would like to see lose influence.

You cannot convince me that Romney is pulling strings to get people like Ryan and Mike Lee to withhold their endorsements.

And Sasse is looking to become the darling of the conservative wing. (This is pretty funny as I discovered he worked for the Bush Administration, was president of a college (Midwest University) and was endorsed not only by Cruz and Palin, but by National Review and Club for Growth. Not exactly an "outsider.")

While I applaud a senator standing firm on an issue in the Senate on behalf of his constituents, I find it reprehensible that a senator would post a screed against the party's nominee, and I can only conclude he is carving out a niche for himself, probably to run for POTUS in 2020 if Trump doesn't win.

His screed meant that he thinks he can run in 2020, which means he is HOPING Trump loses, and therefore Hillary would be president.

He cares nothing for the people, only himself.

maryrose

Jeff
That might be the nicest post ever. What a lovely compliment to your better half!

maryrose

Lurker Susie
Sasse has 4 years to win them over and a Repub president needs to keep them on his side.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

Romney needs an intervention.

Miss Marple 2

Jeff,

Nice to see you! Happy anniversary!

maryrose

Nebraska if Cruz had stayed in May have yielded a different result in the ultimate numbers. Not a victory for Cruz but probably more votes
7 and half million votes but I believe I have posted that truth before.

The candidate who got more votes than any other primary candidate in the history of the Republican party is the strongest candidate.

Happy Anniversary to Mr. and Mrs. Dobbs!

Mark 3:
23So Jesus called them over to him and began to speak to them in parables: “How can Satan drive out Satan? 24If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come.

Momto2

maryrose if you don't think Mitt's comments have any effect - you should turn on CBS news one morning. The FIRST story this morning was all about Romney/Trump and it lasted over 8 full minutes.

It included Mitt's statements but then elaborated and asked in hushed tones, "What damaging information might his tax returns contain???"

This is just a bit beyond having his own misgivings or opinions. This is giving ammunition to "the enemy" which is not just the Dem but also the MSM.

maryrose

Cheerleader
He can be bigger stronger and better and he will be.
It is imperative that he win over as many people as possible.
Every single vote counts.
We cannot allow anything to chance.
People will come around in time.

Beasts of England

What facts are you telling me, maryrose? What fires are you putting out? And why do you need a 'tag team' - can your opinions not stand independently?

And you're conflating a lot of issues, with regard to a convention fight and some junior Senator coming out against a candidate in the early primary.

It's certainly not playing out the way I want - I wanted Walker. Trump was probably last on my list at the start, but he's first now. Period.

I'm glad you think your efforts are to ensure the strongest candidate, but it consistently reads like sour grapes.

maryrose

Momto2
Nobody trusts the news media anymore
When these claims turn up nothing unusual then it will be on to something else.
Dems will stop at nothing.
Better be prepared by getting your positions on their goofy questions ahead of time.

Captain Hate

And Sasse is looking to become the darling of the conservative wing.

I'm having a hard time with this malleable daffynition of "conservative". I readily concede that Trump is not conservative on many major issues, but neither was Romney or GWB. Sasse might be as conservative as Cruz but this grandstanding alliance with the GOPe, enemy of small government, makes him an almost impossible sell for me in the future. I don't consider it conservative to pout about somebody who won, fair and square by the rules in place, the amount of primary votes needed for the party's nomination. I sucked it up four years ago for Romney and Sasse should damn well do the same.

cheerleader

I read a post today that called The Washington Post, "The Amazon Post". I'm going to steal that.

You are entitled to your opinion.

Happened by some guy named Huang doing some show on some cable channel named Vice. Don't know anything about either one.
What is humorous is watching him celebrating the multicultural aspects of the delightful island Sicily and how more of it would be a dandy thing indeed.

The same people who make careers out of documenting the horrors of the white man's coming to America and the resultant "genocide" can't get enough of the ghastly, recurring, murderous invasions of Greeks, Romans, barbarians, Moors, etc [is there anyone who hasn't invaded and devastated Sicily?] because they leave behind different tasty dishes you can grab from a street vendor.
The left has one culture; mindlessness.

Beasts of England

It's not an issue of intolerance - good grief. It's an issue of what is productive and what is not.

Trump has received more votes than any Republican primary candidate ever. With more states to vote, including California. That, in and of itself, says all that can be said about how good of a candidate he is. He doesn't need any 'help' from his detractors. Sheesh.

Maryrose, I love you, but it ir getting tiresome now that the die is cast. Romney's rotting because he lost a race that was his to run, didn't run again, has virtually no support, and no donors are lining up for his 3d party. At the moment he and Sasse are playing dogs in the manger to my disgust.

maryrose,

Mr. Trump won because his campaign manager had a sign up on the campaign office wall that said "Let Trump be Trump".

Ryan et al want him to conform to their ideas of how a "conservative should behave. But it's not Mr. Trump who has to change, it's the people who are trying to change him who have to change.

They can accept him as he is and jump on the Trump Train, or not, but he's not going to change for any one.

And if he does change, which he won't, he'll lose.

Walker needs to step up his speaking skills, drop a little of his reluctance to interrupt during a debate, get a better haircut, and get out into the country outside of Wisconsin.

He should probably start appearing on some talk/news shows, writing some articles, etc.

His wife should sign up for a high-profile charity. (My suggestion would be animal rescue, as it tugs at heart strings and is bullet-proof for controversy.)

Also, maybe he should hire a consultant like Corey Lewandowski!!!

That being said, I am with anonamom and not wanting Romney nor Ryan nor anyone else to give him easy fodder for his parodies. At least he should have to work for it.

And why isn't daddy writing parodies for our side?
