The Chamber of Commerce is making their displeasure known. That's another group I would like to see lose influence.
You cannot convince me that Romney is pulling strings to get people like Ryan and Mike Lee to withhold their endorsements.
And Sasse is looking to become the darling of the conservative wing. (This is pretty funny as I discovered he worked for the Bush Administration, was president of a college (Midwest University) and was endorsed not only by Cruz and Palin, but by National Review and Club for Growth. Not exactly an "outsider.")
While I applaud a senator standing firm on an issue in the Senate on behalf of his constituents, I find it reprehensible that a senator would post a screed against the party's nominee, and I can only conclude he is carving out a niche for himself, probably to run for POTUS in 2020 if Trump doesn't win.
His screed meant that he thinks he can run in 2020, which means he is HOPING Trump loses, and therefore Hillary would be president.
Nebraska if Cruz had stayed in May have yielded a different result in the ultimate numbers. Not a victory for Cruz but probably more votes

It's not an issue of intolerance - good grief. It's an issue of what is productive and what is not.
Trump has received more votes than any Republican primary candidate ever. With more states to vote, including California. That, in and of itself, says all that can be said about how good of a candidate he is. He doesn't need any 'help' from his detractors. Sheesh.
Maryrose, I love you, but it ir getting tiresome now that the die is cast. Romney's rotting because he lost a race that was his to run, didn't run again, has virtually no support, and no donors are lining up for his 3d party. At the moment he and Sasse are playing dogs in the manger to my disgust.
I very much doubt that anyone from the GOP, the GOPe, the Trump campaign, or anyone else with influence reads this blog for pointers on how to improve.
When Miss Marple was the only one supporting Trump a few months back, she was subjected to daily ridicule from several commenters, so the 'trashed and burned' comment is laughable. Rick Ballard called Trump's supporters 'rubes' several times a day. It was vulgar.
Mr. Trump won because his campaign manager had a sign up on the campaign office wall that said "Let Trump be Trump".
Ryan et al want him to conform to their ideas of how a "conservative should behave. But it's not Mr. Trump who has to change, it's the people who are trying to change him who have to change.
They can accept him as he is and jump on the Trump Train, or not, but he's not going to change for any one.
And if he does change, which he won't, he'll lose.
Almost all of us had walker as a first choice. He's young, maybe he'll try again with a different approach. My own feeling is his Kool Kampaign Konsultants and the RNC-approved chorus line format did him in.
Walker needs to step up his speaking skills, drop a little of his reluctance to interrupt during a debate, get a better haircut, and get out into the country outside of Wisconsin.
He should probably start appearing on some talk/news shows, writing some articles, etc.
His wife should sign up for a high-profile charity. (My suggestion would be animal rescue, as it tugs at heart strings and is bullet-proof for controversy.)
Also, maybe he should hire a consultant like Corey Lewandowski!!!

This was a brutal primary in a lot of ways. As a Cruz supporter, I thought there were some unexpectedly snarky comments from some surprising sources but it would be really missing the point to take personal offense at them.
When the dust settled it was easy for me to support Trump.
citing 1912, as something other than a warning seems daft, if not for tr's egotism, wilson would not have been elected, dc wouldn't have be segregated, the income tax might not have been imposed, breckenridge long and fdr wouldn't have started on their careers,

Of course neither will be invited to any WH dinners.

No doubt he has a gift for parody. He is probably the ONLY lefty comedian I find remotely funny. A couple of weeks ago he had a dead-on impersonator doing "Willie Nelson sings Puccini" with a voice just like his singing the famous aria from Madame Butterfly.
That being said, I am with anonamom and not wanting Romney nor Ryan nor anyone else to give him easy fodder for his parodies. At least he should have to work for it.
And why isn't daddy writing parodies for our side?

This reminds me of an odd medical story I came across a few days back, something called "Empty Nose Syndrome: Is "Empty Nose Syndrome" Real? And If Not, Why Are People Killing Themselves Over It?
It's a long one, but since it's the weekend it may be of interest if you've got spare time.
I thought it interesting reading some years back that the lead singer for Aussie Rock-band INXS, had had a brain injury causing him to lose his sense of smell and taste, and that the depression that resulted ultimately lead to him committing suicide.
This new "Empty Nose" Syndrome, seems to arise in folks who have had nasal surgery to correct deviated septums, and that in some patients, when perhaps too much of some of the inner nasal tissue is removed, the unwanted side result is a sensation that there is no nose, and in the case of the subject in this article and others, massive depression leading to suicide.

maryrose, you've been dishing out and taking a lot of slings and arrows, but for giving me a nice response here's a slightly dyslexic song for you:

Happy anniversary, Jeff.

Beasts,
I very much doubt that anyone from the GOP, the GOPe, the Trump campaign, or anyone else with influence reads this blog for pointers on how to improve.

When Miss Marple was the only one supporting Trump a few months back, she was subjected to daily ridicule from several commenters, so the 'trashed and burned' comment is laughable. Rick Ballard called Trump's supporters 'rubes' several times a day. It was vulgar.
Posted by: Beasts of England | May 14, 2016 at 06:21 PM
maryrose,

Tag team is other posters who step in when one of us can't go on because of other commitments.
Do you have a formalized schedule? How do you know when one of you cannot go on or has other commitments?

Almost all of us had walker as a first choice. He's young, maybe he'll try again with a different approach. My own feeling is his Kool Kampaign Konsultants and the RNC-approved chorus line format did him in.

Thanks, Beasts!
I am pretty tough after dealing with my personal life over the last two years (!!!!! STILL NOT SETTLED!!!!) but I appreciate someone noticing.

Miss Marple, there were several times I was going to defend you, but you kept doing such a great job of it yourself!! :)
Posted by: Beasts of England | May 14, 2016 at 06:34 PM
clarice,
Walker needs to step up his speaking skills, drop a little of his reluctance to interrupt during a debate, get a better haircut, and get out into the country outside of Wisconsin.

At this very minute, Garrison Keilor is entertaining the libs by singing a song Paul Ryan
to the tune of They Call the Wind Mariah.
Just what the Rs need---satire, parody, and ridicule.
That's why he needs to STFU if not endorse him in the next ten minutes.

This was a brutal primary in a lot of ways. As a Cruz supporter, I thought there were some unexpectedly snarky comments from some surprising sources but it would be really missing the point to take personal offense at them.
When the dust settled it was easy for me to support Trump.

happy anniversary, hit and claire,
citing 1912, as something other than a warning seems daft, if not for tr's egotism, wilson would not have been elected, dc wouldn't have be segregated, the income tax might not have been imposed, breckenridge long and fdr wouldn't have started on their careers,

You might enjoy a series of podcasts called the Norman Centuries done by Lars Brownworth. Fascinating stuff, especially their ventures in Italy and the Levant.

Beasts, Captain Hate,
There were several times I wished I had simply kept my mouth shut, let me tell you.
Very brutal, but then, I was trained in the fires of Free Republic!!! LOL!
I sincerely appreciate the people who are now supporting Trump. I would have done the same with Cruz.
Politics is a team sport. I think it is hard for some people to understand that.

Miss Marple
Did you see this week where the owner of FR kicked out all the #nevertrump supporters and said they would not be allowed to post at FR any more?
He is a hundred per cent on the Trump Train.
Posted by: cheerleader | May 14, 2016 at 06:47 PM
I was noting last night bruhl's rather subtle performance in civil war, a contrast with some of the more flamboyant foes in the series,
Posted by: narciso | May 14, 2016 at 06:48 PM
Fr kicked me out years ago, when I asked that they stop posters from running my entire articles instead of links and excerpts. Owner is something of a jerk.

Capt
Thank you
You know I admire you and value your opinion
Clarice
I appreciate your insight
I think in time both Romney and Sasse will come around.
Of course neither will be invited to any WH dinners.
Posted by: maryrose | May 14, 2016 at 06:49 PM
Thank you, JMH; I've already done some reading on them; my fave was when they prayed to Pope Leo IX in 1053 as they pounded the German army he sicced on them.

This is so funny - they've never seen a candidate like him before. He plays the media like a fiddle.

Much stranger things have happened. For all of his bombast, Trump understands how to get things done other than imperious executive orders which are surely unconstitutional.

clarice,
I left during the 20o4 election, I think. I just couldn't take some of the people there anymore.
I am still registered, but never post there.
The owner's sole motivation is who is donating the most. Right now it's Trump supporters, hence the dumping of #NeverTrump.
cheerleader, Despite my cynicism concerning FR's owner, I consider his actions a sign that Trump is wildly popular, more than many people think.
Posted by: Miss Marple 2 | May 14, 2016 at 06:56 PM
I never posted at FR so I don't know much about the owner. GWP posted the story about his kicking out the #nevertrumps.
Posted by: cheerleader | May 14, 2016 at 06:56 PM
I would ask that we don't mention comments of posters who are not here to defend themselves.
I may be called a Pollyanna ,one of my favorite movies by the way, but that seems fair to me.
Tiresome and annoying.
Well that is my cue...

Captain Hate,
I occasionally hear Keillor because he comes on after the classical music program I listen to.
Posted by: Miss Marple 2 | May 14, 2016 at 07:03 PM
the guy noir parody is somewhat amusing, I'll admit,
