How am I supposed to get work done if I have to constantly check for new threads?

henry

Yup, spin. "everyone did it." spin again "just administrative policies." don't look at those classified materials laws -- look st the spinning squirrel!!!!!

Theo

Sure, there will be spin. The IG once dated someone whose sister is a Republican or something. But while not the big KABOOM I think that this report just adds to the steady drip drip drip that reinforces the notion that Rodham is not honest or trustworthy and does not play by the rules.

buccaneer morgan

No Theo the of was a red queen contributor, they only go after of when they are effective.

buccaneer morgan

The ig, we went over this, McCullough the intelligence one will be savaged.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

Further proof of the great Paul Johnson's thesis that intellectuals can quite often be profoundly foolish, as Charles Murray tells us he and his ilk are "a tiny fraction of the population" ever so much more special than mere voters and concludes Why ‘Hillary Is Even Worse’ Doesn’t Cut It
My comment;

"We require explanation beyond “Hillary is even worse.”

Two guys get stuck at a railroad crossing with a freight train bearing down on them.
First guy, who got the car stuck, considers himself more than just some lowly passenger in a stuck car and requires explanation beyond "jump you effing idiot, a train is about to hit us!"
Second guy jumps because a train is about to hit them.
Coroner notes first guy is one of that "tiny fraction of the population" that needs to have it explained to them why being hit by a train is worse than the alternative.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

An IG would be unlikely to even address any criminal possibilities or anything besides State Dept regs while an official FBI criminal investigation is underway, I would think.

maryrose

Another nail in the coffin.
5 bucks says she doesn't make it to the convention and gets beat in California.
They also want to dumpDSW.
Dems will rue the day they picked her

Bill Peschel

While Hillary may escape sanctions for evading FOIA and State Department rules, there is that little matter of instructing an underling to strip the intelligence headers and send the info over unsecured channels. That's exposing secrets to the enemy and should result in her losing whatever classification she should have.

This is also a woman who a) needs help using a classified phone, b) orders aides to find out what's on televisions, and c) deliberately acts outside rules and regulations, and has consistently done so throughout her career. That alone should make anyone who is not already in the barrel with her wary of entrusting her with the presidency.

cheerleader

Ignatz the two people in the car are #nevertrumpers and the train is the Trump Train.

Well, it has been confirmed that Trump will be in my city on Friday morning, before going on to Anaheim and San Diego.

Sure hope we don't have anything like the riots at his last event. We don't have violent riots here, so sure hope law enforcement is ready!!!

clarice

It's about time that police depts and municipalities sue Soros for funding these riots. (See Conservative Treehouse on the N Mex riots--again sponsored by Soros). He's the principal--the rioters are his agents. Poor citizens pay for defending against this mayhem.

buccaneer morgan

Well how long did it take albuquerque pd to be on to walter white?

dc

Of even more concern, at the very end of the WP article: "She said that she also exchanged about 31,000 personal emails during her time as secretary and that those messages have been deleted." That's a lot of emails that have been declared "personal." What are the odds some US govt "sensitive" info was in there and she deleted it (and then destroyed the server, btw)?

Beasts of England

Very good, Ig. Another aspect of the 'even worse' argument is that their assessment of Trump is purely speculative, and never considers, argumentum gratis, that he could actually be a good, very good, or excellent president. It's embarrassing.

buccaneer morgan

Disappointing on Murray's side, I swear there must be a full moon, well he'll be the 10 % that votes for Johnson.

TM:
The State Dept. Inspector General Email Report

Someone bring me a shovel, there is a horse I must exhume for the purposes of applying blunt force to its corpse.

This IG was nominated and confirmed AFTER Hillary had left the State Department. While she was there........

http://justoneminute.typepad.com/main/2015/04/reminder-obama-aided-and-abetted-hillary.html

Hillary served as Secretary of State at a time when there was no permanent, Senate-confirmed Inspector General, and in which the acting Inspector General served in a weakened position. If Hillary wanted to operate using questionable practices - scratch the if, because we know she did operate thusly - she was allowed to operate in an environment that made doing so more likely to go undetected.

The State Department went over 2,000 days without an actual Inspector General. The wheels of government grind slowly, right? However, Hillary Clinton stepped down as Secretary of State on February 1, 2013, and Obama nominated Steve Linick as State Inspector General on June 27, 2013. It's amazing how quickly the wheels of government can sometime spin!

The Senate then confirmed Linick as State IG on September 30, 2013.

http://justoneminute.typepad.com/main/2015/06/back-to-the-state-department.html

Hillary got away with ethically troubling - and most likely outright illegal - behavior while Secretary of State when Obama was her boss (thanks, Obama).

Now just imagine what Hillary could get away with if she were elected President and effectively had no boss.

Well. You can rest assured that Hillary has spent her entire adult lifetime imagining that very thing.

Trump readily agreed to an interview. Hillary declined, and has not given an interview to the WaPo in 13 months.

This article shows how out of touch the Clinton people are. They keep mouthing the same platitudes, and it isn't working.

Trump is quick, nimble, and operating a lot on instincts. She cannot react quickly enough to counter him.

CNN is of course soft pedaling the IG Report. It says that the report "faults" Clinton (as opposed to the WaPo's "sharply criticizes"). It also mentions that Rodham and her top aides "declined" to be interviewed by the IG; I think Politico had it "refused to answer questions."

I still think that this hurts her, but we can see the media going into "some minor paperwork issues, just like the time you didn't get your expense report into accounting by the end of the month, nothing to see her and move along" mode.

Who is the AG to take over if Terry crumbles?

Thomas Collins

My theory is that people such as Murray are going to vote for The Hill but don't want to admit it. At the very least, even if they are going to keep clean togas by not voting, they want The Hill to win. And my theory on their preference is that it has nothing to do with anything approaching reasoned analysis, and everything to do with culture. Even many conservative intellects don't want an individual with a Rat Pack mentality becoming POTUS. The Hill may be from the crony rentier Alynskyite mindset, but her upper middle class, Wellesley and Yale breeding make her more acceptable.

But lest my friends here think I've gone soft on Trumpster, I reaffirm that my views on him haven't changed. Unlike Murray, however, thinking The Hill would be worse, in my opinion, is a compelling reason to vote for The Donald.

http://www.americanexperiment.org/2016/05/clear-cut-trees-reveal-solar-powers-environmental-downside/

A prime example of such environmental degradation has come to light at the Lake Pulaski solar project in Buffalo Township 35 miles west of the Twin Cities. Chipping Guy

The project’s owner, multinational conglomerate Enel Green Power, recently clear cut hundreds of mature hardwood trees to make way for tens of thousands of solar panels later this summer. Angry residents posted dozens of photos of the carnage on the township’s Facebook page, too late to save 11 acres of maple, ash and oak from the chainsaw.

“Since I was a little boy, I was taught that trees give the oxygen back, they hold the soil, they help filtrate the water, they provide homes for wildlife, they slow down the wind and snow,” Buffalo Township Supervisor Don Schmidt said. “Yet they cut them all down to put up solar panels. I haven’t had anybody be able to explain that to me yet how that works.”

Anyone care to explain it all to Mr. Schmidt?

One of Althouse's commenters reminds us of this:

While saying the use of a private server "wasn't the best choice," Clinton replied that she didn't need permission. Her predecessors had done the same thing, she said.

What utter BS. Any journalist letting her get away with that one (all of them) ought to be drummed out of the profession. "If I may follow up, Madame Secretary, which of your predecessors exclusively used a private unsecured server instead of the government secure e-mail?" She's relying on the fact that Colin Powell might have used his personal e-mail once or twice to say "On my way" or "Running late," or something along those lines.

GUS

Buckeye, there is 1 Chik Fil a in S.E.Wisconsin to my knowledge. It isn't far from where I grew up, but it's probably 25 miles from me. A prime example of such environmental degradation has come to light at the Lake Pulaski solar project

As another example, Mayor Bane is adding bike lanes to major avenues. The one near me, Amsterdam Ave, just went from 4 car lanes to 3 to make room for a ginormous bike lane. So now traffic, which generally moved pretty well, is bumper-to-bumper 5 MPH for 12 hours/day. Any guesses as to what that does to air pollution?

Happy Birthday, John Wayne:

HOW JOHN WAYNE SAVED THE MARINES

John Wayne was born on May 26, 1907, in Winterset, Iowa, as Marion Morrison, weighing 13 pounds. His birthplace is a museum. There is a guest book, opened to a page with the entry, in the entrant’s handwriting, Name: Ronald Reagan, Address: 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., Washington DC.

To celebrate the birthday of a truly great American, let me tell you how John Wayne saved the Marine Corps. In the aftermath of World War II, the psychological letdown after years of war and bloodshed, the huge demobilization of servicemen, the desire to slash military spending, and the antipathy towards the military by the leftist liberals in the Democrat Party.... all combined in a call by a number of Senators and Congressmen to abolish the Marine Corps.

In this, they were supported by the Doolittle Board, created by Harry Truman, which called for the Marine Corps to be “disbanded” as a separate military force, and “unified” with the Army [yes, the board was headed by Air Force General Jimmy Doolittle].

A group of enterprising Marines – you can always depend on Marines to be enterprising – with Hollywood connections, thought a movie made around the most famous photograph of World War II, Joe Rosenthal’s photo of the Marines raising the flag on Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima, could help sway public opinion against their disbandment.

They approached Hollywood director Allan Dwan, who agreed to commission a script. The movie was to be called “The Sands of Iwo Jima,” and everybody agreed there was only one man who could play the lead role of Sergeant Stryker: John Wayne.

To their great surprise, Wayne turned it down. He didn’t like the script, and he wasn’t enamored of the character of Stryker. The Marines came to the rescue again. The Marine Corps Commandant, General Clifton B. Cates, got on an airplane and flew from Washington to California to personally request Wayne make the picture. When General Cates explained the stakes involved – the very existence of the Marine Corps – Wayne immediately changed his mind, promising the general he would do everything in his power to have the movie be a success.

The Sands of Iwo Jima was released in 1949 and quickly became a runaway blockbuster, with millions of moviegoers packing every theatre showing it. Wayne was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar, establishing him as Hollywood’s Number One box-office star. The Doolittle Board folded its tent, and no politician on Capitol Hill ever again said a word about disbanding the Marines.
So let’s all say “Semper Fi” to the memory of John Wayne.

To further celebrate his birthday, here’s a treat and some advice. The treat is this link: A biography of John Wayne written by Ronald Reagan, in the October 1979 Reader’s Digest.

The advice is this: Don’t ever trust a man who doesn’t like John Wayne. A man’s opinion of John Wayne is a good rule-of-thumb test of his character and moral values. To admire John Wayne is to admire the heroic and the morally noble. To sneer at John Wayne is to admire the opposite. It’s revealing that you find very few liberals among his admirers, and very few conservatives among his detractors.

And John Wayne’s famous quote? “Sgt Stryker: Life is tough, but it's tougher if you're stupid.”

Beasts of England

That's very kind, Buckeye - thank you. My ex gets at least 70% of the credit.
