Catching up, seeing that Edsall nonsense, and this:

What does not appear in this supposedly magnificent résumé is an actual record of accomplishment. It reads more like the vitae of an especially determined high school student anxious to get into an elite college -- lots of violin lessons but no recitals.

It's hard to find good comparisons because so few people with a record of incompetence and criminality like Hillary's ever rise to being close to getting nominated for President, but would it be unfair to say that Hillary's experience in public service is more akin to Mohammed Atta's as a pilot? Except that she didn't get herself killed of course.

I was wondering today if Ryan is angling to be Mr. Trump's VP pick.

Old Lurker

No, Jimmy. Atta was able to, you know, fly the plane.

Old Lurker

Cheerleader, because he does so well in debates?

If Ryan is angling to be Trump's VP, and that happens, it will be my first major disappointment with Mr. Trump. After Ryan's debate with Biden I can't think of a worse choice.

A ground rule for anyone going into one of these interviews should be to have your own copy of the raw audio or footage.

When and where was all this stuff debunked?

I was just realizing today after an unpleasant wade through the wiener swamps at NRO and the Federalist that the #nevertrump crowd has switched from their almost incessant schoolgirl squealing of doom that "Oh no! Trump can never win!" to "Oh no! Trump is going to win!"

I predicted that a few weeks back but I'll never be able to find it today. :)

daddy on the iPad give me Otezla or give me death

Just watched again for the millionth time the Otezla ad again on the overhead TV here at the pub, where the fat homely gal in the brown mumu gives some tiny weed to some skinny bearded guy in glasses a dandelion, and than breaks up into tears of joy. What in the hell is that about?

I'm not asking just for me, I'm asking for the benefit of the aliens from other planets sitting around me at this pub.

What the hell does that ad mean? If I take Otezla, it'll make me happy to receive a tiny weed from a fat ugly gal? And then I'll do what exactly with that dandelion? Cherish it. Eat it? put it up my anal cavity? Give it to Tom Brady?

I am confuzzled. Whoever made that ad I want them put on my Robispiere list, just below Charles Murray and right above Geraldo.

From Lyle's pasted pieces at 03:26 from the NYTimes on the previous page.

Hillary Clinton, a Yale Law graduate whose résumé includes stints at the Children’s Defense Fund and the House Judiciary Committee working on Watergate, spent more than a decade as first lady of Arkansas...

How amazingly fortunate were the good people of Arkansas that the Marines refused to take HIllary when she begged to get in the Corps, and was shot down for being too old, and she was able to turn all her efforts to improving the status of the Arkansas downtrodden, one $2 Dollar underwear Tax Deduction at a time. Bless her, and their wonderful luck.

Porch light. --

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on your inquiry about my present thoughts on Trump's chances.

I will remind everyone that I never thought Trump would win the nomination. I was very negative on his chances to win the general if he was nominated.

The early -- probably too early to be meaningful -- polling of late has been better for him than I expected.

So my predictions have not been so good this year.

For what it's worth I think that Trump is the only conceivable Republican that Rodham could beat. She still has a very good chance of doing so. A long way to go and a lot will happen between now and November. Trump may still get blown out and he could certainly still lose.

But so far -- and it is not very far -- he is doing okay and better than expected.

I despise Rodham both as a person and for her policy stands. But I am not yet convinced that Trump is the better alternative. But that is another subject. In terms of his odds of winning, they are better than I expected at this stage.

Marlene

Rita calls out Pattie Boyd for being a fool because Clapton was a heroin addict. I also read Pattie's book and she tiptoes around the fact that Clapton quite likely abused her during drunken rages.

Miss Marple 2

Yes. Like a great many people I wish that there were a better alternative than these two truly awful candidates. This really stretches the point about voting for the "lesser evil."

Miss Marple 2

TK,

That quote Hillary said on Qaddafi's death was he very worst public comment I ever heard from anyone in government, even surpassing "I did not have sex with that woman" and "I won."

It was flat-out evil. How anyone could vote for her, I don't know.

Miss Marple 2

Theo,

Trump loves the country, makes people feel like there is a way forward, loves the vets, and will probably do something about immigration.

Hillary does not love the country, is depressing to almost everyone, hates the military and the vets, and will open the borders. Plus the cackle and Bill Clinton.

Why sure, I wish Zombie Ronalad Reagan would emerge, but that isn't going to happen.

Choose. Evil or semi-good. Hate of America or patriotism. PC or non-PC.

You don't get to have a perfect candidate. I had to vote for McCain and Romney, because I love the country. The choice is yours, but think hard.

Threadkiller

Fast and Furious-quiddick

Threadkiller

There is always the Open Borders patriot, MM.

It is amusing to hear Michael Medved banter Johnson's name around, considering his former opinion of "loserrtarians."

Theo

MM --

I understand your argument. It's not that I have not heard it.

I am still cogitating. I keep hoping that something will come along and spare us from this ridiculous choice of two very bad candidates. But if these are the choices come November I will make up my mind then. Still time to learn more and still time for things to change.

I am happy for you that you have a candidate you like and agree with.

Miss Marple 2

TK,

Is that what Medved is tyling himself as? "Open Borders Patriot?"

How does that work? We let the Third World wander in and take over, and then we all pledge allegiance to Mexico?

Good grief!

Theo

TK --

Since I am not the single issue voter that you appear to be, I do think that Gary Johnson is worth considering. He probably comes closest to my personal views on government, which do tend towards libertarian (but with some reservations).

Captain Hate

You're right, Marlene. Soooooo she's not a Clapton fan. Was it the Layla thing, which tbh was probably at least as much the fault of Gordon, or something when they were all part of Delaney and Bonnie and Friends, from which EC snagged all the Dominoes?

Gossip, gossip, gossip; it's what the music bidness runs on in large part.

Miss Marple 2

Theo,

I am a realist. Trump is who we have. If you are hoping that someone else comes along, it is futile and, in my opinion, wishing for disaster.

Any late entrant will cause disarray in the GOP and cost us the election.

Trump is the guy. Pray on it, think about it, whatever. No one is going to come along and save you from this choice.

Another Bob

Curious. Anybody hear from DOT at all?

(I'm obviously not JOM "in crowd" but have mostly lurked enough to care.)

Theo

MM --

It is highly likely that this will be the choice. But things have a way of changing. It's been a very strange year and very few predictions have held up well -- certainly not mine.

I will continue to think about it and monitor the campaign. As I said, if the choice does come down to Rodham or Trump or third party or staying home, I will make my mind up at the end of the campaign, not the beginning.

Captain Hate

I saw Medved speak once when he had something to say worth listening to; it was a long time ago.

Theo

Another Bob --

He is very ill.

Threadkiller

Since I am not the single issue voter that you appear to be,

We all have single issues that are enough to count out a potential candidate. Sometimes there are more.

Open Borders are ok in your pro/con list, and not in mine.

It's all good.

Captain Hate

Another Bob, I'm sure some others here have emailed DoT and received cordial replies.

Thomas Collins

Theo, I would think that anyone of libertarian leanings would want Trump and not The Hill/Biden/Warren/Comrade appointing federal judges. Another four years of Dems appointing federal judges will enhance judicial willingness to uphold whatever anti-natural liberty legislation or regulations that are promulgated.

Threadkiller

"Open Borders" is your description of his stance on immigration. I think he would dispute that characterization.

http://www.ontheissues.org/2012/Gary_Johnson_Immigration.htm

It is not the most important issue to me. I am not likely to find a candidate that I agree with on everything. His views on immigration do not make him a non starter for me.

Miss Marple 2

From your link, Theo:

"Open the border; flood of Mexicans would become taxpayers

Q: What is your view of the immigration issue?

A: Hispanics who immigrate care about their families like other Americans care about their families. They're living in poverty in Mexico and can come to the US and do a lot better.

Q: By--according to some--taking away jobs.

A: They work the lowest-paying jobs. And they are taking jobs that other Americans don't necessarily want. They're hardworking people who are taking jobs that others don't want. That's the reality.

Q: Would you open the borders and make it easier to immigrate legally?

A: My vision of the border with Mexico is that a truck from the United States going into Mexico and a truck coming from Mexico into the United States will pass each other at the border going 60 miles an hour. Yes, we should have open borders.

Q: Many Americans fear the flood of immigrants that would follow.

A: They would become taxpayers. They're just pursuing dreams---the same dreams we all have. They work hard. What's wrong with that?"

the ewok's fur is really flying on twitter,

Theo

TC --

I was reasonably happy with Trump's list of potential Supreme Court nominees. If I trusted him to deliver, that would be a point in his favor. But even SCOTUS is not the only reason to vote for someone.

Trump is in no ways a libertarian himself. He is a big government man through and through. He does not appear to believe in either free markets or free trade. He is not a conservative. He is a populist and a nationalist with a pugnacious style, which I think explains almost all of his support.

I agree with others here who said that he would not have been my first, second or even fifth choice for the nomination. The question is whether to vote for him in the general and I have not made up my mind.

Theo

TK --

"The Governor supports a 2 year grace period for illegals to get work visas, after which those without work visas would be deported. He also believes in a "1 strike and you're out policy" for legal immigrants who violate the terms of their stay in the United States."
