The Times fronts the latest Admin spin as they brace for Team Obama's cover-up on Hillary's emails:
Released Emails Show Use of Unclassified Systems Was Routine
...
A review of the 30,322 emails from Mrs. Clinton’s private server that the State Department has made public under the Freedom of Information Act provides an extensive record of how such sensitive information often looped throughout President Obama’s foreign policy apparatus on unclassified systems, from embassies to the United Nations to the White House.
The senders included Denis R. McDonough, currently the White House chief of staff and previously the deputy national security adviser, and Susan E. Rice, the former American representative at the United Nations who is now Mr. Obama’s national security adviser.
Many of the emails were sent over the State Department’s unclassified system, state.gov, which is considered secure but not at the level of the State Department’s system for emailing classified information.
At the State Department, the Pentagon and the White House, among other agencies, officials have two systems for email, one for classified messages and one for more routine business. They are nicknamed the “high side” and the “low side.”
And below the "low side" we have...
Mrs. Clinton’s private server — set up in her home in Westchester County, N.Y. — was assumed to be even less secure than the State Department’s “low side,” although the unclassified servers at some government agencies have been hacked in recent years.
Their gist - officials routinely use the "low side" for stuff that arguably ought to be classified and put on the high side. Therefore, Hillary's use of an even less secure server has no criminal implications relative to national security, State Department record-keeping requirements, or the Freedom of Information Act.
Yeah, whatever. I live for the day when a top Goldman Sachs official explains that all these SEC and Dodd-Frank electronic record keeping requirements puzzle and confuse him, so he put all his email on a private server. Who wouldn't?

Trump should tell the press he'll release his tax returns when the Clinton Family Foundation releases theirs, along with all their financial statements and donor lists. In full. For the last 10 years.

There were a lot of things Quayle should have responded to that loathsome backbencher, Lloyd Bentsen. The fact was that it was an incredible line, on par with what Reagan nailed Carter and Mondale with, because we're still talking about it today. I guess the only effective response would be to acknowledge that it was a good zinger but when the laughter died down people might want to consider how far the values of JFK differ from the the donk party today that a GOP candidate is embracing them against his opponent. I'm not even sure that would have worked.

Dan Quayle, scratch golfer unlike Zippy and Bubba who both request 10 foot gimme's.
Ginni Thomas emails that there is an Air Force whistleblower who has stated they could have made it to Benghazi from Aviano in 3 hours to at least have cancelled the 2nd mortar attack that killed the two ex-SEALS. And that the Obama admin wouldn't pull the trigger which pissed off the crews. Of course, this will go nowhere.
There is no way in hell you can even guess net worth from a tax return. You don't list assets or liabilities on tax returns. Plus you don't have to list medical expenses if you don't want to take that deduction or charitable contributions if you don't want to take that deduction, etc. So a tax return won't always reveal someone's medical condition or scrooge mentality.
Posted by: Jack is Back! | May 12, 2016 at 09:21 AM

Rich - it's all about the optics. It is suspected that Trump is not charitable. If that is the case it gives the MSM/DNC another hammer to pound Trump with.
It certainly would not be fair because the Clinton's biggest charity is themselves.
But then fairness or truth are not exactly considerations when it comes the MSM/DNC when a narrative is being advanced.
So far Trump has been able to move in beyond issues and statements that would have sunk other candidates. If he can continue to due so he just might win.

Not only is JiB exactly right in his 9:21 comment about tax returns, NOBODY with any serious amount of cash flow and assets (note I did not say "taxable income") who is represented by competent tax lawyers and accountants will reveal anything in an easy to understand form on any tax return. Each box on each return will contain only the number called for in that specific box, which will be honest, but will have as little detail or explanation as is demanded by the law, no more and no less. Period.

JIB,
If Trump's tax return showed AGI of $100,000 it would be an issue no matter how legitimate it was.
Trump's returns are probably exceedingly complex. With complexity comes confusion. With confusion comes opportunity for the MSM/DNC to create a narrative.
Whether it is true or not somebody would take something out the returns and spin it. For example: How could Tump be worth $10B when is income is X?. Now we know that it is possible for someone to be worth $100M and collect food stamps, however, narratives avoid such nuances.

My husband and I had complicated tax returns for our income level:
1. My business with depreciation on items and expenses broken up into obscure categories.
2. Husband's work in foreign country with allowances for taxes paid to foreign countries and such.
The last return we filed jointly before he filed for divorce was about 35 pages, and when I went over it I had to ask about certain items because I had no idea what was being reported.
Trump's returns are about a bazillion times more complicated, and it would be easy for reporters to take one page and misrepresent its significance.
I am also not sure a business should give public access to all that information.
Posted by: Miss Marple 2 | May 12, 2016 at 09:51 AM
BS "If Trump's tax return showed AGI of $100,000 it would be an issue no matter how legitimate it was."
I know real estate developers with hundreds of millions in assets who reprt legitimate AGI of well less than zero.
I don't think I myself reported any positive AGI for at least twenty years of my active career.

Beasts. Go buy a boat. Post a new picture of those two babes shown on the picture of your old boat ASAP, or their younger now-of-age sisters.
Seriously as to Trump's tax returns and business affairs. Who does not assume his tax returns use every device in the book to allow him to pay no more than the amount of tax the law demands and no sooner than the law demands it. Does anyone really think that any building could be built in NYC or Chicago that did not involve services purchased from companies run by guys with broken noses, or assisted by politicians related to them? Would you really really expect every laborer on every job and every employee in every building to possess squeaky clean employment papers?
If so, then you would have to assume LBJ and Harry Reid became multimillionaires by carefully saving their government salaries, right?
Posted by: Old Lurker | May 12, 2016 at 10:44 AM
The issues that began this discussion were knowing who Trump gave to and knowing his net worth.
You don't have to name the charities you gave to on your return and there is self evidently no way to know or even guess someone's net worth from a tax return if you do not know what their assets are or in what form they are. You can WAG from public records but that is not the same thing.
Posted by: Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki | May 12, 2016 at 10:46 AM
"You can WAG from public records" and even that is very easy to prevent. There is a reason rich families arrange their affairs so that public probate is avoided, or that business people operating in risky fields might make their assets hard to uncover.

We're about thirty thousand apart on the new vessel, OL. It does have a drawer refrigerator and a hydraulic swim platform - two 'necessities' that the current Subterfuge lacks. :(
I am taking donations, though. The ROI sucks, but the intangibles are pretty outrageous!! And you'll get a free copy of the Bikini Babe of the Month calendar. Mrs. OL won't mind. I can call her directly if you think it'll help...

There is a reason she banned every one of my Vargas prints to my office above the Pool House.

lol, OL!! I'm just impressed that you remembered the photo of the two girls.
And since it's a dead thread, I'll share my favorite boating event with those two. We had headed out of my place rather early (for us) and it was Mimosa Day, so we had plenty of champagne. I knew I was low on gas, but the marina was 'only' about six miles away.
We took off and didn't make it to the main channel. I called the marina and they said I'd be dead in the water for an hour before they could launch. So the girls - and maybe me - start drinking heavily. By the time the guy came around Buck Island in his dinghy, the two of them were hiding in the bow 'bed', armed with Champagne bottles. They soaked him pretty good. And it's amazing what a couple of smokin' hot chicks in bikinis can get away with...
He's a young guy - and now a buddy - and he thought it was about the best fun ever. I thought it was $350 (plus tip) and two bottles of bubbles, myself. :)
