MM @ 9:33

Call my a conspiracy nut, but I think that both the Dems and the GOPe actively want to see ugly riots, violence and bloodshed in Cleveland.

They are not only rooting for it, but they are doing everything in their power to ensure it happens, and that it's as bad as possible.

buccaneer morgan

Check your delmore Schwartz, they are out to get us.

Captain Hate

It seems to me that the Mayor of Cleveland has been foot-dragging on security.

Have you ever seen Frank Jackson? Think of a homeless man wearing a suit. A buddy of mine working for the water department has told me the city is waaaaay behind on their planning for this. Having Loretta Lynch's goons overseeing the police after Saint Tamir is an impediment nobody wants to talk about.

henry

Didn't a judge toss the security regulations a week or so ago? ("free speech zone placement, etc)

Hah, Waldorf to Be Gutted, Turned Into Condos. Because there just aren’t enough high end investment opportunities for the Chinese in New York…. I must admit it amused me when the Waldorf hosted Xi Jinping instead of Obama, at the last UN go ‘round.

Unrest in Cleveland will all be heaped upon Trump. Cui bono? Anyone who isn't Trump, so I can't see Kasich putting forth unusual efforts to stop it. He could even use it as a springboard for some White Knight antics.

Yes its rather kristol clear their agenda, eight yeArs ago, they nearly assaulted in Minneapolis.

There was a shoot-out in a Walmart parking lot in Augusta over the week-end. This is happening up here all the time now. A drug deal of course, distributing heroin. I could see from the mug shots that these guys weren't on the way to summer camp.

Janet the expert

So abortion clinics can't be required to have strict health & safety regulations like other types of medical clinics.

Somehow this is pro-women.

Maybe other types of businesses can leap-frog on this ruling to say they don't want to obey any damn government mandated regulations either.
The coal industry should try it.

henry

McDonnell conviction vacated.

Janet the expert

Whether women were safer didn't appear to be a consideration...all that mattered was whether abortion clinics would have to close because it was too expensive to upgrade their facilities.

Why can't coal companies argue that?

When has expense ever stopped government from implementing regulations on other businesses?

Oh,the plot thickens. I read the Kennebec Journal account of the parking lot drug deal. Two armed citizens in the Walmart parking lot watched the drug deal take place intervened until the police arrived.
The Bangor Daily conveniently left out that little detail.
That could have been a nasty situation, yay for concealed carry!

Keeping 400-500 rooms just in case. Waldorf has always had apartments and special residents like Gen. MacArthur, Herbert Hoover, Frank Sinatra, etc. And do they keep the ballroom? Biggest in New York. I think only the Armory is bigger.

They don't need any stinkin' health & safety regulations!
"Mongar had to be put on a Reeves Board because the gurney would not fit through the cramped hallways. Eventually she was extracted through the back door of the clinic, but not before employees ran through the office seeking a key to the lock."

http://www.lifenews.com/2013/04/04/paramedic-kermit-gosnell-abandoned-women-he-killed-in-abortion/

Perhaps Cecile Richards could take a pay cut & use that money to widen hallways in abortion clinics so that gurneys could be used when evacuating injured women? How 'bout that?

Maybe not...it is PRO-WOMEN to have narrow hallways. It is PRO-WOMEN to NOT require any hospital affiliation. So what if your uterus is perforated?
That lousy, dangerous clinic staying open is all that matters!

and in other news to go the dow off 300 points ... China devalued the yuan 1% to a 6 year low today (Rick was watching this). wouldn't this actually be a good time for central banks to "throw in the kitchen sink" since the focus is on Brexit?

JMH-Red and I were going to the frick a week ago while the diva was supposed to be busy all day. Then she sends a text she might be done early and red said "what do we do?" figure that the government doesn't want answers and their theory of the case-a lone wolf killed in the act-won't take on water since they don't want it to.

All true. But I thought the job of the press was to get answers and to hold elected officials accountable. They keep telling us that's what their job is, at least with regard to Donald J. Trump.

I guess that only applies to Republican candidates for office, not to Democrats who actually are currently holding office.

Porchlight

Since Hillary is spending time in Ohio, she must think Florida is already lost.

Or already won. I don't think that's the case at all, so I'll go with "lost."

I do not think these two screeching witches are going to impress the voters they need.

If I can't stand to watch them, I don't think a 30-year old construction worker is going to be able to stand them, either.

James D

I love how that politico piece is basically a press release for the Clinton campaign.

I would like to see Trump - or frankly ANYBODY in the GOP - say something like:

"Goofy Lizzie Warren wants college to be free for everyone. Well, you know why college can't be free for everyone, Lizzie? Because the colleges need the money to pay folks like Lizzie Warren and Hillary Clinton!

Lizzie got paid five hundred grand to teach one class. Hillary goes to colleges and they pay her a quarter million bucks for a twenty-minute speech, plus they have to pay for her private jet, and a dozen hotel rooms for her and her bodyguards and her aides, and don't forget the guy who keeps her liquor cabinet stocked. No wonder tuition is so high!"

buccaneer morgan

Rick sometimes pops up at neoneocon, as with Jim miller.

jimmyk on iPhone

Here's how the NYT spun the McDonnell decision:
"The Supreme Court on Monday made it harder to prosecute public officials for corruption, unanimously vacating the conviction of Bob McDonnell, a former governor of Virginia."

For the TX abortion case they wrote: "The Supreme Court on Monday made it harder to assure women of safe conditions in abortion clinics."

I may have made that second one up.

sbw

MM’s Politico article has a Clinton/Warren coordinated blue-for-effect pix.

Reminded me of Devil wore Prada Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly:

You think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select... I don't know... that lumpy blue sweater, for instance because you're trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back. But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue, it's not turquoise. It's not lapis. It's actually cerulean. And you're also blithely unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar de la Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then I think it was Yves Saint Laurent... wasn't it who showed cerulean military jackets? I think we need a jacket here. And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of eight different designers. And then it, uh, filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic Casual Corner where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you're wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room from a pile of stuff.
Warren and Clinton seem so scripted and hollow.

sbw,

From my years selling furniture, I remember being told by a designer that the #1 color choice for men is blue.

I don't think that is going to work. I don't think that's how any of this works.

But I bet it's why they both were in blue.

Miss Marple 2

The Infamous Ignatz

--Let us raise our Chinese made Home Depot pitchforks.--

I have to give a plug to a show on TV Land [I think] called the Jim Gaffigan show.
It has already had the chutzpah to feature a very unpleasant gay character who is one of the four main characters. Jim's wife is a sympathetic character who takes her Catholicism seriously and the neighborhood priest who is from Africa is always accidentally making Jim guilty just by being a good guy and thereby demonstrating to Jim what a bum he is for his weak faith.

Apparently Gaffigan in real life suffered a twitter storm by making some innocent crack about women doing their nails and no men anywhere caring, so his season opener was a show about a show trial he undergoes for the crime of being a dumb, ignorant, idiot white guy. The jury is homosexuals, women and minorities. He is accused of every non PC act imaginable. At the end when all looks lost he gives an impassioned speech defending free speech, tolerance and everyone just getting along which receives a standing ovation even from the prosecutor...then they find him guilty on all counts.
As he's about to be sentenced, word comes of some other white guy somewhere saying something insensitive about somebody so everyone dashes out of the courtroom as the bailiff hands each of them a pitchfork at the courthouse door.
Most un PC of the lot of them, even if it was a nightmare he woke up from at the end.

Miss Marple 2

Old Lurker,

If they are going to get rid of national armies and have a European army, there won't be room in Brussels for it. They will have to locate it in a country with more room.

Like Germany. Yeah, that's the ticket!

Warren should have worn buckskin. Did Warren wear moccasins? Did she make them herself? Did she ride into the event on a horse & shoot an arrow through a picture of Donald Trump while carrying a box of Dunkin Donuts?

Why not?...men would have liked that.

"Warren described Trump as a man “who wants it all for himself” and warned supporters that “he will crush you into the dirt to get whatever he wants.”

If Trump manages to win in Nov., expect to see many, many variations on a theme like this. (This is from a snotty British newspaperbint):

But this was no ordinary referendum. It will affect so many of us on a profoundly personal level. We have every right to be upset.

(Remainers) are worried about the economy and if they will still have a job, and they are worried if the value of their homes and retirement funds will plunge. They are worried about the growth of flag-waving nationalism and anti-intellectualism and what these things could morph into. (Emphasis mine.)

These concerns are legitimate, scary and personal. And they should not be disregarded or pushed aside.
