I think this Lynch transcript baloney is a direct result of the very recently released, HSAC report called Countering Violent Extremism.

Neo

In 1516 Sir Thomas More wrote the first 'Utopia'. He coined the word 'utopia' from the Greek ou-topos meaning 'no place' or 'nowhere'. But this was a pun - the almost identical Greek word eu-topos means a good place.

Beasts of England

Thanks, Lurker Susie!!

Jack is Back!

Fournier is a miserable know it all jerk like Geraldo but not a Hillary fanboy at all.

I think I mentioned something yesterday, CH, about those Gretsky genes.

well that's one way of looking at it,

So Kristol is the only serious Republican in the universe. Glad he cleared that up.

buccaneer morgan

drudge was the one who pointed the red queen connection in that piece, probably charlie hurt, since he focuses on some more meat and potatoe things, than drudge.

RattlerGator

I think there should remain tremendous heat on the Obama Administration re the Orlando Terrorist Attack, and an insistence they release a verbatim *transcript* and not this translation nonsense.

If something has to be redacted, fine, but stop this insulting translation stuff which is nothing more than a weird equivalence thing.

buccaneer morgan

seriously I read probably as much commentary as national review in college, they have seriously gotten a swelled head, over there with the pod, boot, et al,

buccaneer morgan

in light of benghazi, we can see why he would go with red queen,

as near a uniform reaction as you are to find over there.

squaredance

The "Countering Violent Extremism" nonsense is an attempt to turn the anti-terrorist infrastructure agains the Left's political enemies. Not the claim of the head of HS that "right wing extremists" are a mjaor threat. Of course, there is absolutely no "tight wing extremist" whatsoever.

If they had their way they would send us all to camps. They have really come out in the open now, but they are given a pass by the GOP.

It is patently absurd to imagine that we are facing any sort of terrorist threat from "right wing" people at all.

They are in full coup mode. How shameful it is that there is not broad outcry against them on the real: the weaponizing of the stat apparatus against their ideological enemies.

It is textbook Marxist Leninism.

derwill

So what are you "serious Republicans" going to do about it, Kristol? Run some guy nobody ever heard of as a third party candidate. Oh, wait . . .

buccaneer morgan

I'm sure there are some, but an organized paramilitary movement, with a support structure doubtful, now mr. mair seems to have thrown a beehive into the whole brexit basket,

squaredance

There is no "right wing extremest terriorist" movement. None. what they call "etreme right wing" in the EU are merely people who disagree with the establishment left.

The American Left have been pushing this fiction since the 1990s. It is total propaganda. Think of all those films and TV shows where the villian is some sort of "white, right wing extremest group". All pure agitprop. it eactly like the sort of agitprop the Nazis pout put about the News in the 1930s.

It is completely absurd.

There is absolutely no reason to think banning a class of items could ever possibly lead to a black market in those items and the formation of things like a series of cartels in neighboring countries to illegally smuggle said items into the country sporting the ban, is there?

"I don't know what's going to happen in November. I suspect there are varying views in this room about what will happen in November, what should happen in November," Cruz said.

"But I'll tell you this: Regardless of what happens in November, we need a United States Senate that will stand up and check abuses of the President of the United States. And we need a Senate that is willing to check the President, whether the President is a Democrat or a Republican."

Following Cruz's speech, [Darryl] Glenn spoke about the "responsibility to get in line and support" the presumptive GOP nominee. While others in the room applaud, Cruz did not, reaching for his glass of water.

Twitter is filling up with the news that Trump has no (campaign) money on hand

I’d guess that is opinion, not news.

What's the source for Trump's campaign being broke? It could be - not sure. I'll send him twenty bucks in the morning - that should hold him for a few days.

squaredance

"The right in Europe is the equivalent of a center right Dem who doesn't exist anymore"

Actually, I would say that in terms of American politics they are more like slightly center left democrats of the JFk era. LBJ, believe it or not might be too right for them. They are certainly not "conservative" in the modern American sense--the sort of small government, "Goldwater conservative", which was really just a American form of 19th century Classical liberalism reborn in the 50s and the 60s.

Groups like "Le Pen" really have a sort of national socialist cast to them in that they believe in socialism, but just for the native French. Perhaps we should call them "democratic national socialists". They most certainly do not want to roll back the "democratic socialism" of the post war years in France. They really represent a return to the French democratic socialism of the 50s without the post imperial adventuring. Placing them in that context they would not be considered right wing at all, but only to the right of the communists, and to the left of "the generals" and the Gaulists of that era, and this is true despite the vaguely Gaulist rhetoric they sometime spout. Thus, as I posit, in American terms they are what we would historically call left of center. They certainly are not small government, free market capitalists. SO far as they are concerned, democratic socialism protects middle class jobs and keeps France competitive.

But of course in the EU they are "extreme right wing". That is just my point. there "extreme right wing" means everyone who is not on the hard left. This is really a legacy of Stalin's turning against the social democrats during the 30s and 40s.

RattlerGator

They clearly have an organized push to force a narrative. I tend to believe the Trump campaign isn't broke but is quite interested in the consultant class being a slave to the published numbers, and those numbers do show a lack of money.

Still, it's an odd push and I'm just not sure what to make of it. If Trump has baited them, I sure would like to hear something positive in the coming days to counter this narrative.

buccaneer morgan

well classical economics has not been a French thing since before the French revolution, however
le front national, came from the pinay circle and
the poujadistes, small businessman, and farmers, who wanted more protection against American imports and wanted to fight the war in Algeria, after what happened in Indochina,

Beasts of England

The only thing I found online showed cash on hand at a little less than $3M. Not sure what his burn rate is, but that's arguably broke.

Centralcal on iPad

Thanks RG - who is the "they" pushing the narrative - Media? GOP?

buccaneer morgan

both, it serves the purpose of distracting from that fustercluck of the administration, I had to go down aways before I found those tweets in the news feed,

Threadkiller

Apparently the normally highly reliable Talking Points Memo is pushing it. As well as Gasparino who tweets TPM as a source.

Gasparino likes Trump a lot if my memory serves me well.

squaredance

TPM is a hard left site masquerading as "political journalism".

This is this weeks meme, and it is timed with the bogus polls. "Trumps campaign is coming apart". I would think have to last couple of cycles we could tell what the game is.

It is shameful that the RNC is not out there fighting back.

GUS

Remember Opie and Lynch weren't sure of Mateens motive. They want to keep it that way.

buccaneer morgan

I don't think that's quite right, tk,

why don't they fight any of this, a poser,

squaredance

buccaneer morgan

something a little odd, the quarterly reports don't come out until after June 30th, I remember with the huntress's pac,

Threadkiller

Was I close, buc?

;-)

Centralcal on iPad

I don't follow Gasparino or TPM on Twitter, nor do I get retweets of them.

Miss Marple

Power on.

There is a rule that money raised for primaries cannot be used for the general. I am not totally sure that is right, but I seem to remember that it is why Rommney didn't do much before the convention.

So, if Trump cannot unlock that 30 million until July, it explains why he is flying around on his own dime having rallies. It is a wiser use of resources than some TV ads.

It also means that The PACs and the grassroots are going to have to step in and help out.

Charlie Gasperino hates Trump and will fan the flames.

buccaneer morgan

cavuto, maybe, but not gasparino,

http://www.breitbart.com/video/2015/07/15/fbns-gasparino-wall-street-in-panic-over-trumps-surge/

I stopped watching Law and Order years ago when those tools started peddling the "right wing extremists" garbage. In NYC which I visited often to see my kids.

Things I learned about NYC from L&O:

-It's full of skinhead groups and right-wing Christian extremists

-The murder rate among Wall St financiers and kids in elite private schools is higher than among Mexican drug kingpins

-Most blacks and Muslims accused of crimes are actually innocent

Threadkiller

So who/what were the sources cited in the twitterers you follow, ccal?

That might help us judge if a narrative is being pushed.

Centralcal on iPad

And Hillary's war chest of 40 something million, why no restrictions on her v. $1.3 million for Trump?

Threadkiller

Gasparino does not like Trump??

::shocked face::

Sue

What narrative? He either has a little over a million on hand or he doesn't.

buccaneer morgan

I saw phil rucker of the bezos post, on the initial dip in that, also nate cohn, one of these days he'll get the story right,

squaredance

As Rush points out in that article linked above, Trumps next challenge is to shift from rallies to the broader electorate and all the work, organization and infrastructure that goes with it. It is incumbent on the GOP to get behind him on this. They really should be doing it now. The gop can spend right now punching Hillary. But of course, Ryan is out there going to fund raisers with T. Cook.

Centralcal on iPad

TK - mostly various citing FEC filings for May. One is Byron York.

RattlerGator,

Centralcal on iPad

I am lost - what does Rick Wilson have to do withe FEC filings?

Threadkiller

I saw a response to York where the tweeter suggested that in a self-funding campaign, the funder may not load the campaign account up until some of the expenses are known.

It reminded me of how I funded my payroll account. The balance was at a minimum for 2 weeks and then, after my numbers were calculated, I would only deposit as much as was needed.

You probably see similar accounts at your work, ccal.

It is plausible enough for me to not worry.

Sue

Makes you wonder why Trump paid himself a salary from his self funding funds.

Centralcal on iPad

Thank you for that explanation, TK. It is speculative, but at least it is plausible.

Threadkiller

He was working.

Hey squaredance! The GOP is done. I'm sick to my guts how Paul Ryan turned out. The establishmen, the ESTABLISHED pecking order of the GOP is in shock. They never saw this coming. GUS: Oh I know. The funny thing to me is that Trump is really not saying anything that controversial, at least not for anyone who is over 60 and has followed politics over the rears.

As I have said before, he often sounds like Tip O'Neal to me. Has the country really changed that much, or have the politicians?

The hysterical reaction to Trump always amazes me, as do the complaints about "crassness", and "crudeness". I understand why they come out this way, but it still supersizes. Have they even listen to his speeches?

It is truly bizarre, the reaction to him.
