Hillary finally ends our short national nightmare in Philly. i am still loving this from Wild Bill:
‘She’s the best darn changemaker I ever met’
Really? I didn't realize Bill paid his women. Still, that endorsement would be compelling if we were electing a toll booth operator, or even a subway token clerk (do they still have tokens?). And maybe it lends credence to the notion that Hillary understands how changing technology has made many occupations obsolete.
Maybe.
Then again, as skilled artists of the second-oldest profession, Bill and Hillary surely are skilled at taking folding money and returning change, so maybe we should take Bill at his word. First time for everything.
I couldn't stomach watching one second of the "historic night", GUS.

A week from Tuesday we have our Ryan v Nehlen primary. Turnout forecast at 9%. Talk radio (still mostly #NeverTrump) is has been attacking Nehlen lately. They might be worried. I see more "Hillary for Prison" signs than signs for either Ryan or Nehlen. No Ryan signs at all.

I notice that when I use off-the-shelf reading glasses (that don't correct for astigmatism) for a long time, particularly staring at my iPad, it causes real problems.
If I hop in the car right after a long iPad session and drive with my sunglasses which correct for slight near-sighted condition and my astigmatism, I can't focus well on anything for 10-30 minutes.

Especially since those "nobodies" have been the backbone of this country for over 200 years.
Along with that goes the snootiness of "college degrees", as if the vast majority of those degrees are useless and are only held by some like 25 to 30% of the population. Their attempt to diminish all other knowledge other than what can be got in a classrooms has been a disaster for the nation. What have we got for it?
High frequency trading? Better ad placement for Google, et al.

I wear glasses all the time, Buckeye. They correct for both astigmatism and near-sight.
If I take them off round shapes immediately look oval and my brain slowly corrects them to a round, but blurred, shape.
If I leave them off for some time while swimming, when I put them on round shapes present themselves as oval along the opposite axis.
I remember a study where college kids wore glasses that inverted the image. After a certain period of time the image became normal in appearance. When they took the glasses of everything appeared upside-down.

Eye-Brain is a funny thing.
I am near sighted and also require reading glasses.
For many years now I have worn soft contacts which correct for astigmatism in both eyes.
One eye is tuned for distance vision and the other for closeup reading.
After a couple of days to train the brain, I find my vision just fine for near and far unless I have a lot of small print work to do. Then I wear reading glasses over the contacts which are tuned to combine with each contact to create very good close vision.
Not rocking that boat because it seems to work fine for me.
Posted by: Old Lurker | July 29, 2016 at 10:20 AM

I only wear glasses when reading. I have a pair of prescription reading glasses that are varifocus that I don't like, so I just wear drugstore readers. Chinese junk no doubt.
I may try using drugstore sunglasses to see if I can focus better after a long session with the readers on.
I have prescription long distance glasses, but don't really need them.
