The Times helps Obama contemplate his climate change legacy and our energy future. The results are predictable - disturbing the Upper West Side readership is a no-no, so there is no mention of fracking, which has put more coal plants out of business than any Obama initiative. Also unmentioned (but you know this) is nuclear power and Obama's role, with Sen. Reid, in putting the kibosh on the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository.
Yeah, it's all anti-science Republicans bought out by the Koch brothers. Whatever.
As a diversion, they do offer up this bit of political analysis about Obama's inability to bring along his own part when he had a mere 59 Democratic Senators and control of the House:
Eight years ago, when Mr. Obama ran for president against Senator John McCain of Arizona, both men had essentially the same position on global warming: It is caused by humans, and Congress should enact legislation to cap greenhouse gas emissions and force polluters to buy and trade permits that would slowly lower overall emissions of climate-warming gases.
But in the summer of 2010, a cap-and-trade bill Mr. Obama had tried to push through Congress failed, blocked by senators from both parties.
“One would have hoped for transformational leadership, in the way J.F.K. would have done it,” said Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, the director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in Germany.
Hmm, when your go-to guy for a quote on JFK's leadership is coming from Germany, that might be a red flag. Kennedy's civil rights initiatives were roughly as dead in Congress as Obama's cap-and-trade, but were eventually muscled through by Lyndon Johnson.
Oh, its the Times - let their readers have their fun.
Momto2, Thank you so much. Your posts to me vis a vis reading, and sharing the literature etc are quite awesome. What you suggest and describe....I DO...with my son. And while we are at it, when I have Daddy/Son private time, often while we are driving together, we discuss these things, and philosophy and logic and we talk about GOD and our share faith. I'm glad you and I became friends Mom2to. You are quite interesting, and I know of your personal sacrifices for CHILDREN.
One last point. I was driving with my son earlier this Spring-summer, and I told him something I'd never told another soul. We were talking about HEAVEN or The Afterlife, and I told him, that I'd always been a wee bit afraid of LIFE IN HEAVEN "FOREVER". I told him the concept had made me feel a wee bit afraid or "uneasy". Again, I'd never shared that thought with ANYONE.
My boy said. "Daddy, you're not alone, I've felt that way too". Mom2to. He's 15 and he and I shared something PRICELESS. We chatted as we drove and other topics came up too.
THAT IS LOVE. That is being a parent. And my SON made me love him even more.

Why does Gary Johnson have to have a plan for Syria? He isn't a Syrian.
Syria can do whatever it wants. Who are we to tell them what to do?
Obama can drop some leaflets with his hope & change suggestions:
$15 minimum wage
green energy
infrastructure spending
coed bathrooms, changing rooms, & showers
redefine marriage
turn half of their country into a national park
Let's just not let anyone from Syria into America.
How bout we focus on protecting our homeland? Can we do that?

Gus, read "Imagine Heaven" - Amazon has it, Kindle or hard copy. The writer researched hundreds of people who had 'near death' or 'Heaven' experiences and found so many similarities, he decided to write a book about what he discovered.

1. I believe he may have been midwived undocumented, in Hawaii.
2. I believe in the unique meaning of 'natural born' and he isn't, but even 'natural born' is an inadequate means of assuring allegiance, which is the root problem with Obama, and why 'birtherism' persists popularly.
3. The birth certificate controversy won't be settled until there are adversarial forensic document examiners who examine his long form certificate, and I doubt that will ever happen.

One thing I really object to is the immunity Senators have in chamber. Reid was outrageous; you'd think common courtesy, manifest by the will of the rest of the Senators would have squelched that.

This is a fascinating compilation of September 11, 2001 from interviews with pilots, staff, military aides, Secret Service, Air Force base generals, and reporters, all involved either on Air Force One or at places the plane stopped.
It reminds me that W was very good in those first days and was a good wartime president. I need to hang onto that and let go of my anger over the last 2-3 years of his administration.
A good exercise is to think about Trump vs. Hillary in the same role. Hillary would not be able to make a decision, if you ask me.

Scrolling through last nights comments, the Wells Fargo encounters caught my eye. I had an account with them since 2003 when in 2009, I went to the drive up ATM at one of their local branches and punched in $100. All I got was the receipt, no money.
Went into the bank to see the manager. Nothing she could do but fill out a claim and send it up to North Carolina HQ. They got back to me that there was no indication of a problem with the machine and I would not get the $100 they stole from me in broad daylight.
That is when I closed the account and wrote them a letter in rather strong language.

Let's take 100% of all the wealth in the US. All of it.
Distribute it in equal shares to all U.S. Citizens.
Fire every single employee of all government at all levels.
Fire every single elected politician.
Restore the Constitution to the original document plus the Bill of Rights, and erase all regulations and misc laws currently on the books at every level.
Erase all court decisions, every single one, which purport to "interpret" the Constitution.
Then start over with a clean slate.
OK, there might be some details involved, but I find this a nice way to fall asleep each night.

We were supposed to be beyond this with the Lightbringer, but darnit, he keeps on opening his yap and making things worse.
If these SJW's and BLM's continue with the farce on the football fields I can see NFL nation turning its back on the game.
Pro football is in a very weird place right now. Goodell has alienated all sorts of stakeholders, especially the fans and with big name stars like Lynch leaving the game to maintain their health as well as the TBI scandal I think the industry has reached its upper limit.
If it wants to remain "America's sport" then it has to appeal to Americans of a certain demographic. If they turn into a bunch of SJW's as they have been, I think we're going to see what happened to the MSM happen to the NFL.
You just can't afford to anger your audience and expect business to do well.

You can say the same about nascar, Matt. Turning off their fans one rule change at a time.

Totally agree!
What happened to the phrase: America, Love it or Leave it.

The Hillary Clinton email story is out of control
>>>In fact, Ms. Clinton’s emails have endured much more scrutiny than an ordinary person’s would have, and the criminal case against her was so thin that charging her would have been to treat her very differently.<<<

Maybe because I'm not a sports person, I don't see the appropriateness of playing the national anthem before a sporting event. Tradition? At this point it just provides a useful opportunity for mischief making and creating divisions and ill will imo.

additionally, the norks might test another this weekend.
good times, good times.

Well, DebinNC, if they didn't play the National Anthem, how would the jets know the right moment to fly over? ;)

Good Lord, did they really write that? "she's endured much more scrutiny than an ordinary person?"
She's NOT an ordinary person! She was Secretary of State and privy to incredibly sensitive national security information upon which lives (potentially thousands or hundreds of thousands) of lives depended! OF COURSE her actions got - and deserve - more scrutiny than those of your average office worker!
Do they honestly not understand that?

No, we didn’t ‘owe’ Iran that $1.7 billion ransom payment.
Disgusting beyond words.

You'd think that the NFL owners, most of whom are successful business owners in other fields, would understand that. But clearly they don't.

Or how would they know when to start the game?

& if the emails were no big deal...why did the DOJ give Pagliano & Combetta immunity?

think that is the plan-to get teams to stop playing it. Then they move on to some other outrage. SJWs are worse than locusts.
has anyone showed these guys the base demographic of their fan base?
I also vaguely remember a building height contrarian indicator (markets peak when building get taller) and it can easily be applied to the NFL: billion dollar palaces, many funded by taxpayers, and no possibility the facility will generate the returns to pay for itself.

and...
Just so we're clear in case there is ever a Republican administration...
From now on every SoS can have their own private, off-site computer setup so they can connect with ONLY their own chosen crew & do whatever they want with no interference.
No more prosecutions for mishandling classified info either. Who cares about that anymore. It apparently doesn't make any difference.
And lying at Congressional hearings is a-okay.
