Bill definitely has the onstage of dementia.
That was only 8 years ago.
I think some of the long term memory is gone.
I don't want these two old farts roaming around the WH forgetting where they are and what they are looking for.
Just the thought of the Omen's hubby sleeping in the Lincoln Bedroom makes me want to hurl.

the treehouse pointed out the real reason for the kerfluffle, it's been discovered that bluntman damages red queen more than trump, so it's time to cut him down to size,

Good afternoon from Florida! Holy carp,it is hot here! We came down to set up our new place. I went a little crazy in Home Goods.

Miss Marple,I missed your birthday! Hope you had a good day.

It is so easy to be a LIV. Between CNN in the airports and glimpses of the TV in restaurant bars,I don't know what the heck is going on.
Have a great week-end everyone!

lyle

Bet BC ain't too penile as he was in his days, either...

DebinNC

Re Marlene in FL, I read an article this morning about out-migration, i.e. people leaving their home states for elsewhere. Iirc TX was the top destination, followed by FL, but what surprised me was SC being near the top of places people are moving to. NC was popular too, but not as much as SC.

Johnson... ( blunt is slang for doobie)

Texas Liberty Gal

Gosh I'm finally caught up on all the threads. Its hard to keep up with y'all.

MM - Belated happy birthday greetings. What did you do to celebrate? Hope it was special! You deserve special!

Beasts of England

Yet another Beasts medical question. I got two spider bites on my forearm last night. I initially thought they were mosquito bites, but they didn't itch. Now, twenty hours later, one of them is encircled by a slight reddening about the diameter of a dime. So, is this something that I need to go to the Doc-in-a-Box for? If so, can it wait until after my date tonight? I'm being serious. Much thanks!

Old Lurker

So the DOW lost 400 just because one of Jimmy's pals at the Fed said he thought someday it might be time to end the government imposed free money.

And Trump gets yelled at by Hillary for stating that the economy is not real?

Jack is Back!

Before I actually walk out the door, here is an interesting story about Matt Lauers home here in the Hamptons in Noyac, between Water Mill and Sag Harbor. He's had to drop it another $1million. After his stint on the Townhall and the progressive response, he may have to drop it another mill or even more. Poor Matt.

Truthbetold5

Yeah, you can wait Beast

Texas Liberty Gal

OL - I thought Biden was telling Hillary to show her "heart" but instead she's yelling at Trump. Good for the Trump team!

Old Lurker

Don't know about you boys down south, but up here in the north east Beasts, that would be a mandatory Lyme Disease alert. Or did you see the spiders?

Tick borne diseases like Lyme are the real deal; easy to fix early, real hard later.

Beasts of England

Thank you, TBT.

Beasts of England

Dumb question, OL: wouldn't I have seen a tick on me? They don't bite and run away do they? Yikes!!

Miss Marple

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy, Jack!

Granddaughter set up computer but. Am missinhgb1 cord, which I will have to go back and look for. Going back to the old house to get some more of my stuff plus the dogs. Back later.

JM from the last thread;
"Too bad the Federalist doesn't allow comments on their site. Can't imagine why."

They allow comments, but it's kind of a free for all.
Scroll down to the black band at the bottom of the page.

Beasts of England

To be sure, I meant that I had a dumb question, not that you were asking one, OL. :)

jimmyk

From the end of the last thread:
That instantly struck me because as I recall from last week, FOX's Chris Wallace very specifically said his job as moderator was to not challenge any of the lies that came out of the mouths of the Candidates. Instead he said his job was to ask questions and get them to say whatever, and it was our job to then determine if they were lying or telling the truth.

I actually prefer that to these grandstanding lefty "moderators" pulling a Candy Crowley as if they have some special pathway to Truth, like all those phony "fact checkers" at WaPo and Snopes. The more robot-like and passive the moderator the better, since the aggressive moderators are invariable acting on behalf of the Democrats. In fact, as I've said before, there doesn't need to be a moderator at all, just someone to read questions and a timer to cut people off.

Old Lurker

Common question, Beasts. The ticks you and I think about are Dog Ticks which are hard to miss. The ticks we worry about are Deer Ticks and they are literally about the size of a grain of sand and are really hard to find.

Nobody leaves Nantucket after visiting us without the lecture to look for a circular rash, a fever, or any flu like symptoms during the week after they leave us. Any of those and we automatically start the antibiotic pills. There is so much of that sort of thing here, we never wait for the blood test results.

Old Lurker

Trump should offer to dump Wallace in exchange for his getting to dump the other two. How's that for art of the deal?

jimmyk

Don't know about you boys down south, but up here in the north east Beasts, that would be a mandatory Lyme Disease alert.

For sure, and you can get Lyme outside the NE. 20 hours seems a bit too soon for a tick bite--usually takes a week or two (I believe) for symptoms to show, and definitely for any tests to be informative, but you should consider going to a doctor. It's not an emergency, but you'd want to go on antibiotics within a couple of weeks if they suspect Lyme.

Old Lurker

Besides Beasts, given my fantasy imagination of your love life, periodic rounds of pills probably are not a bad idea, right?

jimmyk

And Beasts, to answer your other question: "wouldn't I have seen a tick on me?" Maybe since it was your arm, but not necessarily. I had Lyme last year and never saw a tick, but the bite was on my back.

Old Lurker

Jimmy is right, Beasts, I looked at the "Lyme Card" posted in the pantry and it says the rash, IF appears at all (sometimes there is no rash or it is hidden in the hair), is seen between 3 and 30 days after the bite, so 20 hours is probably too soon.

Beasts of England

Be nice, OL!! ;)

But seriously, there were a bunch of little critters about the size of a grain of rice all over my boat last night and this morning. Crap. I guess I'll see what the bites look like in the morning. And I guess I won't be taking her for a boat ride tonight. Sheesh. Hallmark probably doesn't make a 'Sorry I gave you Lyme Disease." card...

p.s. thanks, jimmyk!

Dave (in MA)
India’s government is now shaming people into using toilets
Maybe they could shame their expatriates to use deodorant?
henry

Beasts, take a picture of the critters with your phone & show the doc in a box. That can help them.

Beasts of England

I just looked on WebMD and the deer tick is very distinctive and I didn't see anything remotely resembling it on board. These kinda looked like sand fleas, henry. Will take a photo in the morning if I can find one of the little boogers...

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

Dave reeks of smellism.

JiB posted this on the last thread, but it was so good, I wanted to repeat it.

"The problem our conservative-intellectual-better-halves have is that they can't understand that you can't spread American values and exceptionalism via a globalist strategy. That is why we are unique. No other country I am aware of could ever duplicate our founding, structuring, development and constitutional structure."

daddy on iPad at the Gym

I am going to give a bit of a break to Gary Johnson and here is why. In my job I am required to listen intently and to speak distinctly because misunderstanding is deadly in my job. I listen hard and speak loud and distinctly, especially when dealing with the Brits or the French or the Germans or the Chinese or anyone else outside of the states because misunderstanding will kill.

So that said, I am not a fan of slovenly, indistinct language if someone is trying hard to be understood. What Barnicle did, if you listen to him, is ask quite indistinctly, in very much the same tone as the dick Charlie Gibson asked Palin about "The Bush Doctrine," something, something, Aleppo, not "What would you do about the situation in Aleppo,Syria?" so that there was no possible confusion about what the question was about. Barnicle was inviting misunderstanding. Simply saying Aleppo, and not saying it very distinctly or as if he gave a damn about it, Barnicle scored one for the interviewer by making Johnson looked stupid. If Barnicle had asked "What would you do about the situation in Aleppo, Syria?" and asked it like he meant it, Johnson would not have been intentionally placed in the position of being a scrambling dum ass, but would have known instantly what the question was and could have answered accordingly.

So tho' Johnson came off looking stupid, I blame Barnicle. He is, in my view, another "gotcha'" media hack, and he deserves a blanket party. If he was an air traffic controller or my co-pilot I would give him max s%^* for being such a verbally lazy f#%^, and intentionally so.

No, you're not, daddy. You're right. The question was softly spoken and the look on Barnicle's face was just like the spider's as he invited the fly in to tea.

Johnson probably should have said something like, "In what respect," to get Barnicle to be more forthcoming. I'm sure he won't make that same mistake again.

The column that I'd like to see someday . . .

In my mind, that’s the real danger posed by Trump the GOPe candidates: not that he they take us off course, but that he they incapacitate the crew. It’s the argument I’ve fleshed out before.

Trump isn’t The GOPe aren't merely an imperfect candidates. He’s They are someone who disables corrupts the ideological guidance system legislative agenda of the only major pro-liberty party.

To the extent that his a GOPe presidency means we spend another four years expecting intellectuals on the Right the conservative base of voters to swallow their ideological scruples, and to the extent Trump’s the GOPe's success breeds hangers-on and imitators who embrace his Putin-style nationalism the GOPe's surrender to the progs, we could end up flying the ship of state with a crew leaders who are paralyzed actively undermining our values.

Just what, exactly, have these "intellectuals on the Right" done for...well, y'know, the Right, the past 16 years?

Well, they have apparently developed 'ideological scruples' - which can be quickly discarded as they race headlong to gorge themselves from the trough of corrupt public-private interest money.

Thanks. That sounds like Oregon... those knuckleheads are 100% online / mail in vote.

Beasts, earlier this summer I thought sure I had a tick bite. A large red center with a rash. I went to my PA and she said it was probably a reaction to a spider bite. A tick burrows under the skin and it becomes engorged.
Of course,I dread to think what kind of critters will attack us down south. : )
Benadryl helps for red and itchy bites.

Now I see that the lead story at The Kelly File tonight is that David Brock of Media Matters is demanding that Chris Wallace be removed as a Debate Moderator because he used to work for Roger Ailes and Ailes is advising Trump. Naturally Kelly is telling us how wonderful and independent Chris Wallace is and has on Chris Stirewalt and Howie Kurtz to agree.

Nice job by David Brock shifting the media focus to Chris Wallace and FOX and away from Hillary.

Zero Hedge posts this story about France's President Hollande:
Hollande Urges France To "Embrace Islam" Hours Before "Radicalized Fanatics" Are Arrested In Latest Terror Plot

So the French have no problem using the word "Islam" when demanding that their citizens welcome and embrace "Islam," but they're not allowed to use the word "Islam" when those very same Islams they have to welcome and embrace engage in rampant murder and terrorism fueled by...you guessed it, "Islam."

Dan Balz of the Washington Post was on Charlie Rose tonight touting a poll recently conducted by the Post with SurveyMonkey. The survey which is referred to as "massive," "expansive" and a "rare opportunity for voters to express their opinions" was focused on "voter attitudes" in the 2016 election (e.g. "Where do you stand on current events?").

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/a-new-50-state-poll-shows-exactly-why-clinton-holds-the-advantage-over-trump/2016/09/05/13458832-7152-11e6-9705-23e51a2f424d_story.html

According to Balz, Trump is not doing well in traditional Republican strongholds like Arizona and Texas (?). Clinton is doing well with the usual suspects as well as white college educated voters - especially white college educated females.

The massive survey highlights a critical weakness in Trump’s candidacy — an unprecedented deficit for a Republican among college-educated white voters, especially women. White college graduates have been loyal Republican voters in recent elections, but Trump is behind Clinton with this group across much of the country, including in some solidly red states.

Clinton also holds a slim lead in the electoral college according to Balz. According to the Post, this election is redrawing the traditional red and blue lines in the country. The poll samples varied from 500 to 5,000. The methodology was as follows:

"[it was] conducted online as part of SurveyMonkey’s 2016 Election Tracking project, which recruits respondents from the large number people who take polls on the company’s do-it-yourself survey platform, roughly three million each day....From Aug. 9 to Sept. 1, the survey asked the sample of 74,886 registered voters about their presidential support, including between 546 and 5,147 respondents in each state.

I haven't gone into the wording of the poll questions yet. Balz, the Post and Charlie Rose seemed excited by these results on-line from "registered" voters. They also believe that 3rd or no-party candidates might do well.

buccaneer morgan

as of recent events, people frowned on those polls,
