From Chris Cillizza of the WaPo, who infamously lost interest in Hillary's health just moments (OK, days, but it seemed like a month to a dog) before her collapse:
Donald Trump’s birther event is the greatest trick he’s ever pulled
Well, the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. And to complete the circle, the greatest trick the media ever pulled was convincing the world that Trump was the devil.
Which demotes Hillary to mere Anti-Christ. Sexist pigs!
RIGHT AGAIN: In the same vein as not betting against a Sicilian when death is on the line would be to not try to out Reality TV a reality-tv master.
Deplorably, I pledge allegiance.

At the risk of coming off like a birther conspiracist (just teasing TK), I am becoming convinced that Short Circuit's malfunctions are Parkinson's.
Make Birthers Great Again!
:-)
In all seriousness, a close friend of mine shared a story about the passing of his father.
As his father's health declined from what started as an infection he noticed many of the same symptoms Hillary displays.
Parkinson's was never mentioned by the semi-socialized medical caregivers, but the final paperwork included with the death certificate said Parkinson's played a significant roll in his demise.
My friend is guilt ridden thinking that he should have been more proactive.
He is convinced that she has Parkinson's.

That's the overriding issue with the left: they're one-dimensional. That dimension has worked beautifully against squishes such as Mittster, but this is a whole 'nother can of worms. And because they've grown lazy with that single approach, they can't recalibrate. They can't retool.
I'll say it again: Trump is the only person who could have endured this unprecedented electoral assault.

Beasts,
You are exactly right. He spent all those years on The Apprentice and showed up as a guest on everything from The Tonight Show to Howard Stern.
People feel they KNOW him. What is surprising to me is that I knew him as a showman but his work in real estate and construction I only knew from Trump Towers. I have been amazed at how many properties he actually has and they are all over the world.
I think people are going to be surprised at his debate performance. Jimmy Kimmel picked up on his "silky" voice contrasted with the louder one earlier in the campaign. I have mentioned his testimony before Congress and how he was in command of the facts.
I am absolutely convinced he has gamed out this whole thing.

When Pulp Fiction hit the theaters, I was at a point in my life where I was way to busy to go see it despite the urging of my buddies.
I would ask them "what is it about?"
The reply was always "you have to watch it."
Finally I went just before it closed from the big screen. What was going through my mind could be summed up with three letters.
WTF
I was absolutely captivated by it mostly because my plot predicting abilities had been rendered useless. The Dems are suffering from this, and I believe that they still don't understand the brilliance of this scene:
https://youtu.be/NUuwd8Z0l_4
They are in stuck the first 10min of a 2 hour flick. They have always written the script and this is an alien event to them.
What I look forward to most with the upcoming debate is that I have no idea what is going to happen.
What the Dems most fear from with the upcoming debate is that they have no idea what is going to happen.

OT.
Last evening on the Dog Walk (2 moose encounters BTW) I had on the headsets listening to Dennis Prager's final Friday hour where he takes any calls. A lady called in and said she wanted to introduce her 8 year old daughter to Classical Music, and since Dennis is a big fan did he have any suggestions?
Led to a nice discussion from Dennis, who mentioned that he had not discovered Classical Music until later in life, and when he did he went bananas about it and now he guest conducts various symphonies.
Anyhow, Dennis's suggestion was that the woman get any copy of Vivaldi's 4 Seasons, and play it for her daughter. (I would have recommended Bach, but no biggie) He described the music beautifully, and said that if after 4 listens to it, if the girl did not enjoy it, then she would probably never be a Classical Music fan. Then, in giving a little history of Vivaldi which I did not know, he said that Vivaldi was a Catholic Priest in Italy, and that he was assigned to a Catholic Girl's Orphanage, and as he taught the girls how to play instruments he wrote marvelous music for them, and tempered the music by the sorts of instruments they had on hand and were capable of playing.
That bit of history of Vivaldi I thought fascinating. I knew nothing about him but his music. Did you guys know that? Whatever, an excellent call-in to a radio show and Dennis hit it out of the park. The stuff I learn...

Posted by: daddy | September 17, 2016 at 02:12 PM

On racist vs othering. The SJW types in Social Science departments love to misapply concepts from the hard (real) sciences. On of the faves is from Einstein (makes them feel smart), frames of reference in Special Relativity. The frame from a cis-normal white man is always racist, from a lefty female of suspected bi or homo tendencies othering is an unfortunate mistake from that frame. Nothing to it.

Henry,
And obviously Hillary can't be racist since, as the Media and the Congressional Black Caucus told us a million times, she is married to the first Black President.
BTW,
Michael Savage on Talk Radio made this point 3 dog walks ago. He asked about the word "Soul." Where has it disappeared to in our culture?
He was discussing the intentional annihilation of the Christian Religion in America and mentioned how only 30 years ago you couldn't discuss the Black Community without mentioning Soul---"Soul food, Soul Music, Soul Train, Soul on Ice, Soul Brothers, Soul Sisters, "I'm a Soul Man", The Soul Survivors, etc.
I thought it a good point. Last I could recall of a popular sighting of the Soul in our common American culture was a series of books about "Chicken Soup and the Soul," and Zukav's book "The Seat Of The Soul," both now between 15 and 30 years old.
I cannot think of the last time I heard the word "Soul" mentioned in any context outside of a Church discussion. How about you guys?

I also learned from Peter and the Wolf. Had a great music teacher, Jean Ann Carson, whom I actually ran into at a music festival for my grandkids. She's in her 80's now.
We also learned Edvard Grieg (Peer Gynt Suite including "Morning" and "In the Hall of the Mountain King."), opera (Carmen) and plenty of actual hymns, because this was when schools weren't constrained from etaching religious music.

The Vivaldi "Four Seasons" is probably as good an entree as any, but I would respectfully disagree with Dennis's notion that if they don't like it after four listens, they'll never like CM. People's brains are wired differently and are receptive to different things at different ages. But repeated listening to the same thing is important, because CM has a complexity that can't always be absorbed on first hearing.

And I hadn't heard that specifically about Vivaldi, but I knew he was a teacher, and some of what he wrote was didactic. Italy in the 18th and 19th centuries was just obsessed with music. Every little town had its musical hierarchy that was as important as its political one, maybe more, and children got music along with their mother's milk.
Posted by: jimmyk | September 17, 2016 at 03:17 PM
Agree, jimmyk. That "four listens" is a far too reductive and simplistic formulation. Besides, maybe Baroque music is just not someone's taste where classical or romantic music might be. Anyway, to truly appreciate this kind of music takes years and numerous hearings.

Will do TK:
Megan Kelly: ...But she (Hillary) didn't quote "Start-it", and Donald Trump was very much the person holding the flag on this one, was he not?
Mike Huckabee: I don't know that he started it, There were a lot of things out there. I remember Bill Clinton saying "All this stuff is a big Fairytale."
Megan Kelly: I'm not saying he started it, but he held the flag on it and she accused him of founding his campaign on it. He did make a huge issue out of this in 2011, 2012.
Mike Huckabee: But lets keep in mind, at that time Donald Trump was not a Politician. He was not a Political Candidate. Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton---they both were.
Megan Kelly: OK, but I have you here as a Trump surrogate. And I'm going to get to Richard Fowler next after you. But Trump did make a huge issue out of this, and even after he claimed he put it to bed, when he got barrack Obama to release the long Form Birth Certificate, proving as had always been the case he was born in Hawaii, he kept it up and we have all the tweets from 2012 where he kept on going on and on and on, this is from September 13th, 2012 "Wake up America, see this article "Obama Birth Certificate is a fake," and then again August 2012, "An extremely credible source has called my office and told me that Barrack Obama's Birth Certificate is a fraud," and on and on it went, all the way to January of this year!
Mike Huckabee: Look, I'm not going to deny that Donald Trump made a lot of questions about his Birth Certificate. But look, here's a question, maybe you can raise it to Richard...Let me ask you something, when you watch the Black Caucus as I did, not just the snippet but the whole thing, they repeatedly said "Donald Trump is a Bigot, he's a Racist, he's been a Racist his whole life." What evidence is there for that? There isn't any, there's none!
Megan Kelly: (a bit tongue tied) Well that, they believe that, what they say, that what they say is the delegitimi, the attempt to delegitimize the First Black President is in itself Bigoted and Racist.
Mike Huckabee: If they can show that what he was saying was because he was Black then they've got a point, but they can't do that. Because it has nothing to do with it.
Megan Kelly: Well it's the connection to Africa. The suggestion is that he was born in Kenya, not born in America, and that's where they bring the Racist.
Mike Huckabee: But once again, to say that he is a Racist, to say that he is a Bigot, that's nonsense. There's an old Rule," all is fair in Love and War and Politics," and so in a sense this is not all that unusual. What I find interesting, is that when I hear the people who are against Donald Trump, whether it's Hillary or the Caucus or whoever it is, or the Media but I repeat myself, it sounds like they are all sucking from the same Helium balloon 'cause they all have that same shrill voice and say the exact same words, as if they are reading a script.
Megan Kelly: OK, got to go.
--------------------------------------
Here, in comparison is Jake Tapper's statement of why Hillary was Otherist but not Racist:
Tapper: " We should point out of the (Trump ) statement, he said that "Hillary Clinton and her Campaign started the Birther Movement, I ended it", those are 2 factually false statements. Hillary Clinton's Campaign did make attempts to “otherize” Barrack Obama, during the 2007-2008 Campaign, talking about his foreign roots, talking about ways in which he might not necessarily be perceived as being rooted in this country. They never mentioned his Birth Certificate, that never happened by Hillary Clinton, that never happened by the Hillary Clinton Campaign. I covered it at the time. John's right, the people who supported Hillary Clinton that put out a whole bunch of garbage about Barrack Obama, that was reprehensible, and maybe somebody will ask Hillary Clinton about that, but she and her Campaign, never, never started the Birther Issue...
------------------
What the he''s the difference that Tapper sees?

daddy,
Thanks for the transcript. I think Huckabee acquitted himself very well, and as usual, Kelly descended into the anti-Trump madness which has consumed her.
She needs to remember what happened to Paula Zahn when she left Fox (with much fanfare) to go to work for CNN. It was pathetically obivous that CNN's make-up artists were not nearly as skilled as Fox's.
And then Zahn's contract wasn't renewed. HA!

"She needs to remember what happened to Paula Zahn when she left Fox (with much fanfare) to go to work for CNN."
She has the problem that in trying to expand her market she's come across as more of a self-promoting egotist than a journalist with integrity. I don't see that playing well. She'd have been better off establishing a consistent persona at Fox.

jimmyk:
"she's come across as more of a self-promoting egotist than a journalist with integrity."
Yes. I used to like her because she played against type, i.e. looked like a bimbo and then took folks by surprise with penetrating questions. Now she's just looking kind of sleazy to me and asking sleazy questions. My parents used to call it developing a god complex, when interviewers begin to believe that folks are tuning in to hear their opinions, and guests are treated like props. You have to have some pretty interesting opinions to carry that off, not the kind of uninspired fare Kelly seems to be serving up.
Paula Zahn is a sad case. She really did incredibly good interviews before CNN took over and started trying to "market" her like some sort of news product.

As I reread the Megan-Huckabee link, Huck's point, that Trump was not a Politician in 2012 like Bill or Hill were when they were intentionally trying to sabotage Obama's 2008 Election chances, comes across very strong to me. They had their devious skins in the game when they were "Otherizing" Obama, Trump did not.
Secondly, when Trump finally forced Obama to release his long form BC, it strikes me that he deserves a round of applause from all of us, both sides of the political aisle, for finally getting that weasel to belatedly do what he should have done years earlier. It's like another instance of him repairing the NYCity Ice Rink. He saw a problem that needed fixing and he fixed it. Why all the criticism, instead of the thanks for doing what nobody else was able to accomplish?
Otherist: "Obama's Grandma is a Kenyan Muslim and he was brought up with Kenyan Muslim values."
Racist: "Obama's Kenyan Muslim Grandma, just like Obama's book Publisher, says Obama was born in Kenya."
I don't get it.

Greta Van Susteren left FOX News abruptly recently. I always found her likeable and very fair. Iirc she was CNN's legal reporter on scene during the Nifong-Duke Rape Hoax saga. Megan Kelly made a name for herself at the same time appearing on Dan Abrams Court TV show. She was clearly a cut above her peers back then in her legal knowledge and her ability to listen to a question and articulately respond.

The distinction is who says it. Not what is said. Kind of anti-logic, but it is the basis for the SJW epistemology such as it is.

Am I missing something or is this latest assault, Trump the Birther, just hilarious in its sheer lameness? It seems preposterously absurd to me.
Who is this aimed at? Surely no one but the regular, diehard muppets would care, and even here it is just some sloganeering for them to excite themselves with. This cannot really be a pungent issue at all with most voters. Tying it to race is so absurd.
I guess it only makes some sense if they are trying to get back crossovers in the Black or "Youth" community. even here it is pretty weak. I guess that there are some in the "Black Community" that might be fooled by this, but are these people the ones that have gone over to Trump? If there is an enthusiasm gap in said community for Hillary, will this drive them out? Seems like an awful lot of smoke for not too many votes.
In the broader population I am not sure that "Trump is a Birther" would harm much, even if it were true.
Puzzling.
Thus far, the campaign seems not only to be locked in the past, but completely oblivious to the electorate's mood this time around. It is hard do discern a broader strategy at all; perhaps they have something up their sleeves, but, as desperate as they sound, I tend to doubt it. The rhetoric sound like a bunch of cosseted liberals grousing amongst themselves.
Let us hope that they remain this way.
(And Kelly should be ashamed of herself. Also, Huck should have brought up Trumps reframing: "At the time the country needed proof; I demanded it, got it, and settled the matter. I am a closer". Huck sort of fell down here by going the route of Trump not being a politician at the time. At any rate, I am sure that Trump has more surprises up his sleeve that will move this on.)

I came across this little trip down memory lane, Christopher Hitchens writing about his testimony against Slick re Monica and Kathleen Willey. Sidney B is a major character, as scummy as ever. The Clintons play mafia-style hardball, and the media support them. Nothing has changed. Says Hitch:
"I here repeat my charge that the associates of Bill Clinton were actively, and with taxpayers’ money, spreading false information against truthful female witnesses. They sought to destroy the characters of these women by off-the-record briefings, and by underhanded denunciations."

Back online after spending most of the afternoon outside by the pool and in it with Mrs. JiB and the beagles. Just a gorgeious day here in The Hamptons.
daddy, I find your note on Vivaldi ironic since today on our dog ride, I had Frederick with me. He is taking Music this quarter with his guitar teacher and Music teacher. They have been introduced to Classical music and I had Sirius XM Symphony Hall on the radio and it was playing Vivaldi's Four Seasons. I asked him if he knew Vivald and he told me the same things you posted. The first intro was Bach and they moved onto Vivaldi.
For example, he knows that Bach wrote primarily in B minor and sometimes in F minor. I only knew that because I listen to Sirius XM Symphony Hall most of the time driving when Rush isn't on.

Beethoven's 6th is also another nice introduction.

My friend is guilt ridden thinking that he should have been more proactive.
TK,
Every child is "guilt ridden thinking that" s/he could have done more for their lost parent(s). It's such a wrenching thing to lose the persons who gave you life, raised you with all the experiences and opportunities they could give you, saw you into adulthood, and then became your mentor and your friend.
No matter how advanced medicine is, you only know what you know at the time. My mother died 25 years ago, and even though she was very ill and was receiving the best care possible, it was still a shock when she died and a hurt that just doesn't go away. My father lived to a very ripe old age, as they say. And God bless him, he showed all of us the way to live as age creeps up on us. He always said that he didn't feel a day older than 24. He died 10 years ago this month, and there isn't a day that goes by when I don't think of him and miss him dreadfully.
What my parents and grandparents showed us is that you take these terrible losses and live on. If I could be just half the person that each of my parents were, I will have lived a good life. And that, in the last analysis, is all that they want for us. Tell your friend to rejoice that he had his father with him for all of those years, that his father is grateful for all that he did to help him when he was ill, and that he loves him and always will.

Huck missed the mark... questioning the BC was not racist, it was questioning whether he qualified under the rules of the constitution. Same as he did with Cruz. Is it racist to question Cruz' BC?

I'll say it again: Trump is the only person who could have endured this unprecedented electoral assault.
I've said it before as well.
Cometh the hour, cometh the man.
As with so many others, it is often the person you least expect to succeed. Reagan was a "B-list actor." Churchill failed spectacularly and sadly in the Dardanelles, yet persevered and prevailed.
Our self-styled GOP white knights all fell to Trump's sword.
Above all, you must believe in yourself. This is often misread as mere ego or hubris.

'Bama sure does not look like a number one team to me. Their QB looks like a little Pop Warner kid out there. Ole Miss seems to be short circuiting old Nick and his puppie Lane.

[Re-posting from dead thread]
clarice:
I think Tim Russert was in on the hinky ass covering business too.
I was reading something by Andy McCarthy the other day, and wondering how he feels about his old pals. I know he vouched for Patrick Fitzgerald, but I couldn't remember whether he vouched for James Comey, too. I've been meaning to see what his reaction to Comey's twisted defense of Hillary was.
Did you see this piece? The Case Against James Comey, subheaded "Not since Hoover has an FBI director shown such a lack of accountability." When you've lost Politico.... Not only Politico; the author "was a speechwriter for former Attorney General Eric Holder!" It was actually quite interesting, although given the angle of view, not surprising that Comey's role in the Libby fandango didn't come up. The guy didn't mind bending the rules as Asst/Acting Atty Gen'l, either. I didn't realize just how autonomous the FBI Director actually is (and how many years he's got left in his term!) -- which makes going out of his way to shield Hillary from prosecution even more despicable.

Before Election Day, I anticipate another "freeze"/seizure on Short Circuit's part.
Before Election Day, I anticipate another terrorist attack.
Birther arguments won't cut through that.
