I called the local Division of Elections Office number on the instructions I kept from my Absentee Ballot. A human replied after about 10 minutes. when the human wanted to know if I had mistakenly put the instructions back in the envelope to increase the weight of the envelope I said no, since I had the 2 pages of instructions here in my lap. The Human said she will pass that information on to another human. She said I am the first human to call in with this problem.

daddy, sometimes the people in the office of elections in Alaska don't have much to do so they go out salmon fishing or moose hunting. It will soon be hibernation season so we may have to wait for the election results till spring.

My grandaughter has been given the chance (aka dragooned) into serving as a translator for two African students, newly arrived, who only speak Swahili and French. She is the most advanced French student at the school.

She is all excited.

Here are some questions I would ask:

1. Are they refugees and what religion do they practice?

2. If they are not refugees, how did they get here and what is their status?

3. Are they temporary visitors, or do they intend to apply for permanent status.

4. The federal government provides funding for translators for these types of students. Is the school system making her translate for free while they are pocketing the money? Inquiring minds want to know!

I know about that stuff which is why I asked that question. I won't interfere without justification (since although she lives here I have no custodial rights) but I am seriously suspicious.

She will be taking a free period (aka study hall) and doing this, and of course she feels like this is a great opportunity.

She said she might have trouble because African French has a different accent than what she learned, which is French with a Brittany accent.

Am also concerned that these are the usual Obama fake refugees. I am unsure of what country so gave her some tips on stuff to find out where they are from (disguised as interest rather than investigation).

If I find out that the school system is getting money for these kids and using my granddaughter, I will raise holy hell. I will go to the local talk radio (paper is Gannett and useless).

Seems to me that this is potentially embezzlement and fraud, but I am not leveling that accusation until I have evidence.

The thing is, French isn't an obscure language where it's hard to find translators.
So why get a student to do it?
