The NY Times laments the lack of attention paid to climate change during the current Presidential "campaign". In a pathetic bid for clicks they troll us with this:
“When nobody talks about the issue, the clear signal is that this isn’t very important,” Dr. Leiserowitz said. “Ultimately, it comes down to one of the most precious resources on the planet, human attention.”
He also said that when public figures such as President Obama, Pope Francis and Leonardo DiCaprio talked about climate change, it could influence how much the public says they care about climate change...
Uhh, one of those things is not like the others (and no, the eye-catching divergence is not on skin tone, except for racially-obsessed progressive bean-counters).
But, and you can only imagine my surprise, those names weren't picked form a hat - Leo has a documentary coming out which includes, some big names:
Friends in high places: Trailer for jet-setting Leo's new environmental documentary 'Before The Flood' stars Obama, Pope Francis and of course DiCaprio himself
So droll of them to note that climate change is not quite enough of a crisis for Leo to forego the private jets. And I am old enough to remember talk of "limousine liberals".
ERRATA: I will never find a link to verify this but burned in my memory is an old Normal Lear ("All In The Family" anecdote. His car pulled up in front of some pollution/climate conference or other and he hopped out of his very fancy BMW. Asked whether he understood the contrast between his message and his mode of transportation, his reply was something like "I get it, its a polluting gas-guzzler and we can't go on like this - but have you felt the ride?"
Whatever. Maybe Hillary should tell Leo to get a life.
COMPLETING THE LIST: Back in a famous 1998 article describing young Leo's night-clubbing antics with, well, the Pussy Posse, we complete the circle:
When he goes to a club, people start screaming and jumping over the security guards and elbowing and pushing to get near him."
And that's not just the civilians. "The models are all over him," says Jeffrey Jah, director of the club Life. "He's got rock stars, Puff Daddy, Donald Trump, going over to his table to sit with him. Leo just comes in to hang out with his friends."
Oy.
The US government has new sexual assault policy that allows a victim to report all types of sexual aasault to the government without notifying anyone. No police, lawyers, governments, etc. It is classified beyond all things, view only by special written request from a federal inspector general or someone designated by the victim. It never goes away a is unresticted, prosecutable civily or criminal at any time by the victim. The reported are never notified, but the victim can say or threaten anything at will, forever

Insty had a link last night to Trump's support for a term limits amendment.
Here's an amendment I would like to see:
No relative of any Senator, Congressman, Federal Judge or Executive Branch appointee shall be permitted to lobby the federal government, hold any elected or appointed federal office, or work for any agency of the federal government, or for a contractor to the federal government, for the duration of the individual's term in office, and for a period of 20 years after the individual leaves federal office.
"Work for" includes full-time employment, part-time employment, consulting, volunteering, or performing any service of any kind or being compensated in any form.
"Relative" includes any relation by blood (including parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, siblings, step-siblings, first and second cousins), marriage (including stepchildren, ex-spouses, and children of ex-spouses) or adoption.

Well, Marco, is that your final answer?
Because the whole point of these emails is to show the shady stuff going on in the political between a campaign, media, and the government.
I frankly think all of them, with the exception of a few like Jeff Sessions, are corrupt.
My question is why does this make Rubio so nervous?

Let's revisit that terrible stand-up comedy routine attack on Donald Trump.
Who convinced him that was a good idea? OR who forced him to do it?
He was supposed to be the best shot at defeating Trump at the time. (This was before Christy eviscerated him.) Instead, he self-immolated while trashing Trump.
Looks to me like someone thought this was a 2-fer, only it backfired and only took Rubio out.
(I may have my timeline wrong on the Christy attack, if so maybe I am letting my paranoia get out of hand.)
Posted by: Miss Marple the Deplorable | October 19, 2016 at 09:12 AM
Truth comes out and Rubio panics.
What is he afraid of and why not embrace the bright light being shone on Democrat malfeasance?
Posted by: maryrose | October 19, 2016 at 09:14 AM

Remember they had the John Edwards and Rielle Hunter story and everyone discounted it at the time.

The Super Tuesday week debate was where a giggling, puerile Rubio self-immolated on live tv. Christie added fire by throwing in occasional "See, he's doing it now" when Rubio reverted to programmed mode, spouting off whole paragraphs by rote - a Rubio staple that Christie had already been gleefully noting as he campaigned.

I suspect Trump will go all in tonight on what is not being covered by the MFM.
Wikileaks, O'Keefe videos, etc.
I fear he will not strike a reasonable balance, and forget to tell voters why they need to vote for him.
Hope I am wrong.
Posted by: Buckeye | October 19, 2016 at 09:45 AM
Did Rubio also say that we shouldn't talk about the Trump tape, because it was obtained without the consent of one of the participants? Did he also tell us that publishing a page of Trump's tax return was a violation of his privacy, and how dare we even mention such matters.
Wikileaks/Assange is scum, and he is not a friend of the United States, or even Donald Trump. But even scum knows things we really should know (like what earns Hillary those big checks for speeches to Wall Street people), and foregoing important information already spread far and wide is stupid and, in the media environment we live today, political malpractice.

Buckeye,
I don't know. His latest ads included a couple of positives. His rally speeches are all ending with "you have the chance to make every dream you have for your family and your country come true, " along with the Make America (safe, strong, wealthy, great) litany.
The guy's a salesman, you know. I think maybe he will go in and be Charming Trump, while Hillary comes out nasty thinking she has to combat him. Could be an amazing evening!

Trajectory of the 3 debates:

I'd like to see Trump show up with a series of peel off 2' x 1' stickers on his chest. Every 5 min he can reveal another story the MFM is bypassing. Wiki-quotes, O'Keefe video links, etc.
He can conclude by taking his jacket off and revealing a Bill Clinton Rape shirt. Then he could collect a few thousand dollars from Alex Jones.

It's bizarre how few public appearances HC has made in the 3 weeks since the first debate. Even more bizarre that press outlets have no interest in noting it, much less asking Team HC why that is and reporting their response.

I hope that DJT is positive and presidential and pounds Hillary on how his policies are CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE from the same old corrupt system. My gut tells me it's too late for him - and for us, but I am going to watch tonight and pray that he makes a case for our country. I'm not a fan of the rigged narrative because it looks like he's making a case for a loss. He's tied in both Rasmussen and LA Times tracking polls which is disappointing to me as I thought he was beginning to put distance between himself and Hillary. I'm just hoping for a Trumpexit type of finish to this entire election. I'm happy to see that Iggy is back. I missed reading his comments.

One of the many things I like about Pence is that he doesn't let the MFM clowns interrupt him until he's said what he set out to say; while Pissy Wallace is going "if I may" or CBS's John Hairball tries to interrupt, he just forges ahead and makes his point in its entirety. Unlike Lurch who gets a pained look on his Halloween face and moves the mashed potatoes around so his Clutch Cargo mouth can spout something to show he's irritated.

Deb, the fight here is over vouchers. The teachers union / dems keep trying to restrain vouchers. Walker & the R's in the legislature are slowly opening vouchers to students of any failing school. (which is most of Milwaukee Public Schools, Kenosha, Racine, Madison, Janesville). It is at the point where the MPS is cooking numbers to avoid having its worst schools turned into charters under state law. (Granted, as rse points out home school may be the only way out of UNESCO slavery-- but the fight goes on anyway).

MM - you are so right abut my work environment. If Trump "drains the swamp," I hope he takes most of higher ed with him. Yesterday, I had to listen to a lunch table full of women excoriate Billy Bush for not punching Trump out during the locker room talk. They wanted to know if Billy Bush was going to apologize to his daughters. I then asked if everyone at the table had apologized to their own daughters for having supported Bill Clinton. Their collective response was silence. However, later in the afternoon, a young woman who lunches with us and is fairly new here, came by my office and told me that she and her fiance are both voting for Trump. Baby steps...

If anything, most agree with that. I avoid talking politics with neighbors. I only answer if THEY bring it up.
If some neighbor goes on a rant I do ask questions though.
I kinda play dumb...'What is the correct global temperature?', 'Do you ride your bike to work?'
The minute a question is asked they usually stop talking.

Sorry, lost my internet konnection. Had to re register. Look, I'm from mars - the original earth homeworld seeded by the space alien reptilians and over clima engineered so global warming lost the aptmoshfere and the reptilians reengineered us and put us on earth after heating it up. I call earth home until earth becomes mars2 and we go back there. I got university and some other stuff and like just reading books like the internets.😴

Sir, I am sure you meant to say that the memory of Norman Lear's little spot of fun was seared into your memory, not merely burned.
