Idahoe?

Ahem.

Potatoe ... killed Quayle. Love to see some Klingon style revenge.

Janet ~ an obnoxious Trump supporter

Quayle was sorta the Palin of his time. They must have been scared of him.
Read some of his old speeches & they are spot on. ...& this is true - Quayle was right about Murphy Brown.

lyle

http://hotair.com/archives/2016/11/28/gop-expected-to-defund-planned-parenthood-next-year/

Again, I'm taking all bets on this not happening. The GOPe has to do many, MANY more things like this to win back the support of the base. I'm not holding my breath.

BTW, I'm not a strict anti-abortion dude. I'm just sick of Big Abortion execs living like royalty while lying about the extent of their activities.

Buckeye

Why the hell would Mika be allowed into the Trump inner sanctum? Daughter of Zbig, and a big fat Democrat herself, plus not particularly bright...

I can think of a few reasons:)

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Porchlight,

Yes, he was, but he was hung out to dry all by himself. They didn't warn Bush 41's people about it (courtesy of Kristol who was Quayle's chief of staff) and so they got little support, and of course Hollywood pushed back.

Shame. He was a pretty smart guy. My son set up audio for him once at a speech downtown at the Columbia Club. Was very impressed with him.

This was in 2000, when Quayle was entering the primaries. He dropped out fairly quick, though.

Captain Hate

Quayle was a good example of how the RINOs can be stampeded into deserting a quality candidate by the MFM mensas. Some NPR fixated dumbass used to assure me "he really is that dumb" as if sound bytes are a clear indication of intelligence.

lyle

I knew where you were going with "Idahoe," Stephanie. I forgot this: ;)

lyle

I can think of a few two reasons:)

Slight edit. :)

Buckeye

Quayle strike me as almost a perfect Trump stealth weapon, not to mention a big "olive branch" to the GOPe.

About the same as Chao.

Porchlight

Trump is friends with Mika going way back. Watch. :)

Porchlight

Yes, MM, Kristol was terrible in that role. It was very Palinesque, the whole thing, like Janet said.

Buckeye

That was a funny clip Porchlight.

Sure will be nice to have a President who actually likes being around pretty girls for a change.

Course if Hillary got elected, she would too:)

DebinNC

I think it took days for GA-Rep. Hank Johnson's public hearing question to an admiral re too many marines on Guam possibly causing it to "tip over and capsize" to get reported in the msm. His office then claimed the question "was metaphorical" and later "a joke" but the video shows otherwise.

Dear god, I hope so. BTW, don't bother clicking. AP is even more annoying than usual (as if that were even possible.)

Beasts of England

I met Quayle at fundraiser at a friend's house. I've always liked the guy. Anything for him in the Trump administration would be fabulous.

Hank Johnson is an improvement over the previous holder of the seat, the always infamous Cynthia McKinney.

Listening to the local sports talking heads last night.

They were going on about how they hoped Michigan would make it into the #4 slot.

Figure they would have the best shot at softening up the Tide for a Buckeye finish.

I think we will need a hell of a lot more than that.

Like finding an offensive line.

Like getting past Clemson. As I recall, didn't work out very well last time:)

Which part, Jacobson revealed Woodward's part in a post.

This is the year of miracles, Buckeye.

This makes me happy, Elections Board raises estimate for recount to $3.9 million.

Your gonna need a bigger check Stein.

buccr morgan.

Millard, but all things being equal.

Old Lurker

Captain Hate

There is no way two teams from a conference belong in the playoffs.

lyle

They were going on about how they hoped Michigan would make it into the #4 slot.

Michigan better not get in over UW if they win the PAC12 championship. (But I bet they do...)

I'm starting to dislike the CFP as much as the BCS. I can't be the only one.

Buckeye

This is the year of miracles, Buckeye.

Gonna take two:)

Porchlight

Tick tock, henry! 4:30 Central right?

buccr morgan.

Legal insurrection post around that time.

Buckeye

Michigan better not get in over UW if they win the PAC12 championship. (But I bet they do...)

No argument from me.

BTW,

Half the victims from yesterday's Muzzie terror attack are out of the Hospital.

All are expected to recover.

DebinNC

I'm so grateful MI and WI chose Trump I now hope both have great success against whomever they play, even SEC teams. I still hope Sandusky State loses now and forever, but any other PA team has my best wishes. Ditto IA, NE, etc.

Nope. But he's allowing CAIR to shame OSU into building foot baths and prayer rooms for devotions to the inferior moon god of EE-Slam.

Buckeye

Yesterday's victims were taken to 3 different hospitals.

OSU, about 5 blocks from the incident is a level I trauma facility.

Grant, about 4 miles away is another level I trauma facility.

Riverside (in my backyard and where I have taken Mrs. Buckeye so many times we joke she is going to get a wing named after her) is less than 2 miles away and a level II trauma facility.

They avoided overloading any single facility. Victims were triaged at the scene and transported where necessary.

If you are going to get run over and stabbed by a Muzzie terrorist, that was a good spot.

Alehouse, excerpted a ridiculous bit of folderall from the moonbat mayor of Madison, soglin.

Nope. But he's allowing CAIR to shame OSU into building foot baths and prayer rooms for devotions to the inferior moon god of EE-Slam.

That'll piss Bubba off.

Beasts of England

Are the new rankings out yet? Doesn't Michigan have two losses? I think that would be an interesting scenario, if Bama had to play two teams from the Big Ten in the playoffs, with neither team having played in their conference championship game. I really can't see the committee going for that.

I'll call Condoleezza now...

Artichoke Tapenade

Eight to ten servings, as an appetizer

Adapted from Deb at Smitten Kitchen, from a recipe by Mario Batali

An uncle once told me a funny story that he was going to make a recipe for something that called for ‘pickled capers’. So he decided that he would track down fresh capers, since those would, of course, be better than anything in a jar. Needless to say, he didn’t find any. But you shouldn’t have any trouble finding capers in a jar at your local grocer. Be sure to rinse them and squeeze them dry; that step removes the unpleasant taste of the brine.

I buy my olives in the Arab markets, which are sometimes conserved in a heavily flavored brine, so I rinse them, too. I pit olives by pressing on them with my thumb, being careful to stay out of the way of any squirts of oil, then pluck out the pits. Standard pitted green olives (without pimentos) that come in a jar, which don’t need rinsing, work well in this recipe, too.

2 garlic cloves, peeled and minced
1 cup (4 oz, 120g) pitted green olives
1 tablespoon (10g) capers
8-10 (14 ounces, or 250g) canned artichokes, drained well and quartered
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
6 tablespoons (90ml) extra-virgin olive oil
1/8 teaspoon chile powder
salt, to taste
1. In the bowl of a food processor, pulse the garlic, olives, capers, artichoke hearts, lemon juice, and olive oil, and until almost smooth, but still chunky.

2. Taste, and add salt, chile powder, and additional lemon juice, if desired.

Serve with toasted slices of baguette or crackers.

Storage: The tapenade will keep for up to one week in the refrigerator.

Overall the BCS did a pretty good job of matching up the two best teams even in 2011 when Bama and LSU had the rematch game. Ever since Bama got into the BCS game despite not winning the SEC Championship the other conferences, with the Big 10 leading the way, have been clamoring for a playoff system where the importance of winning the conference championship is supposed to get a significant weight.

Based on the Big 10's own guidelines they have promoted over the years, if Penn St wins the Big 10 thanks to their head to head win over Ohio State then IMO Penn State gets into the playoff ahead of Ohio State. At that point the committee has to decide if Ohio State is more worthy of a spot over the Big 12 or PAC 12 champ. If Wisconsin wins I can see the committee leaving them out of the playoffs since they lost to Ohio State and the Buckeyes are the lone Big 10 team in the playoffs.

As a Bama fan I don't care who makes it. I would however enjoy getting the opportunity to play Ohio State to get some payback for 2014 and to send Urban Cryer to the emergency room again.

Stephanie despicable me

Eight in the playoffs. After 8, the quality drops precipitously. No more squawking about who gets into the top 4.

8-1
7-2
6-3
5-4

All the chaff will fall out first week of the playoffs.

The BCS was supposed to settle the natchamp sitch wasn't it?

Seems like it is getting subjective again when a college's brand, despite 2 losses or loss in head to head matchups don't count for anything, is deemed more important in the "what would make the most interesting matchups?"

I have no dawg or leprechaun in this fight. And prolly won't for some time. But as long as college foo'ball depends on rankings to set the tournament play, it's going to be subjective and all of the conference machinations will be moot.

What I love about this though is that my dawg doesn't have to split its TV revenue or bowl winnings with a conference. It's how I sleep at night knowing that the Big 10 and the SEC are considered the "best" in college foo'ball.

It all comes down to the tao te ching of cha-ching(a su madre).

Ohhhhhhh! He didn't just go there did he??!?!?!?! Did he?!?!?!?!

Old Lurker

Steph "But I play beer pong or quarters with champagne."

Life in the Lurker House:

Thinking I had designed and built the perfect multi generational house for my family on Nantucket, and thinking, as Dads do, that by careful planning and thoughtful design I could control things, I included a neat party/pool room with assorted toys for young adults, thinking of course that would contain them where I wanted them to be.

So early in that first summer, I told YL 1&2 they should have some friends over for their first party in the Pool Room. Then we went to bed knowing that my design was so perfect the party would stay where it was and that my soundproofing would protect us from them.

Next morning I asked the girls how the party had worked out. "It was fun, Dad...". Well did they like the room? "They liked it, Dad...". Well did I select the right pool table and darts and sound systems and all those things? "Well it was pretty nice, Dad...". But was it perfect? "Well..."

"Well What" I Asked?

"Good news, bad news, Dad..."

What do you mean by THAT?

"Well Dad, since you ask, the light fixture over the pool table was too low for Beer Pong and the balls kept getting stuck in the light..."

Then what the hell was the Good News?

"The big island in the kitchen was PERFECT for Beer Pong, Dad..."

I could see a 6 team playoff. Big 5 conference champs and one wild card for either an Ohio State type situation or an unbeaten smaller conference team. Top 2 seeds get a bye the first round.

Stephanie despicable me

LOL, OL.

I've actually got a beer pong table on my Amazon wish list.

Should go well with the Corn Hole game we got last year. I even bought the beer bottle holder score keeper tower for Corn Hole.

At least cleanup was probably more effective in the kitchen, OL. :)

I totally missed beer pong, as it arrived on the scene after I graduated from college and left the party scene to get married and have kids.

Absolutely, OL. We added on an ~600 s.f. party room for the girls in our penultimate home, with great seating, a stereo, video console, and a huge television, so they could be contained. Didn't work out. I eventually moved my drum set, guitars, amps, and other 'non downstairs-approved' goodies, e.g., my mounted Canada goose, in there and had a blast. Even though I rarely played Dance, Dance Revolution. :)

Ewok vs Mailman's Son

Meanwhile, #FakeRepublican liberal John Kasich, who is an Asshole, has opined that "We may never know" Artan's motivation in using a jihadi tactic (vehicle driving into crowd, "stabbing intifada" knife attack on random non-Muslims) after making numerous pro-Jihadi statements and jihadi-style declarations of aggrievements and threats that Muslims will rise in defense of their Ummah.

John Kasich, who is, as mentioned previously, an Asshole, is coming under fire for his pro-Somali-refugee-resettlement policy. Some are tweeting at him that these attacks are on his head (which is, as pointed out supra, an Asshole's head).

Others are pointing this out as well.

Columbus is home to the second-largest Somali-American community in the U.S. after Minneapolis.
And how did all the Somalis and other north Africans get in Columbus?

As WND has reported in a series of articles, the main route into the United States for Somali nationals is through the refugee resettlement program. The U.S government has since 1992 worked with the United Nations to permanently resettle more than 110,000 Somali refugees into dozens of U.S. cities, including Minneapolis, Columbus, San Diego, and smaller cities in Maine, Texas, Idaho, Washington, Georgia, Michigan, Colorado, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Texas.

More than 99 percent of Somali refugees are Sunni Muslims, and the FBI has confirmed that at least 40 young Somali men have left their adopted homeland since 2007 to join the ranks of foreign terrorist organizations including al-Shabab in Somalia and ISIS in Syria. Dozens more have been charged and convicted of providing material support to overseas terrorists.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich has been supportive of the refugee resettlements in his state. Like many GOP governors, he has questioned the quality of the vetting process for Syrian refugees, but nothing has been said about the Somali refugees who have been arriving in large numbers for years and struggling to assimilate. They continue to arrive in U.S. cities at a rate of 500 to 800 a month without so much as a word from the GOP governors.

Meanwhile, Ohio state Democrats are claiming that a likely Senate candidate for 2018 stating that this certainly looks like an Islamism-inspired attack constitutes "Islamophobia coming to my state today."

Michael Premo, chief of staff for Ohio Senate Democrats, blasted Mandel, tweeting, "Looks like knee-jerk islamophobia came to my state today. So sad what @JoshMandelOhio said. We must remain vigilant against prejudice."
Which prejudice? The imagined prejudice of people who aren't attacking Muslims, or the real prejudice of Islamism-crazed jihadis who actually are killing people?

Is that not also prejudice?

Is it just not the kind you care about
