jimmy-virtually every name well known at a national level is pushing a vision that works in a way vastly different from the rhetoric around it. Some pushers know that and others do not. Given the bile veterans have for devos, I would guess that when it was explained to her that whatever she was pushing did not work the way she was leading people to believe she did not care.
It is jeb's ed policy we will be getting without much difference from what obama pushed except in nomenclature. The local news just said she was a kasich delegate at the convention and the same Buckley dinner out in SF that gave an award to George Schulz as well as the long-time head of the Bradley Foundation who retired about a year ago has recognized the DeVos Family in the past.
School Choice and charters are both legal entities and instruments that were created by the Left to lock in a particular vision that has little to do with academics. It's been the same vision under a variety of names since Bill Bennett was Ed Sec under Reagan as my latest post laid out. No one is forthcoming unless you can find the books and papers before something became controversial. Bennett is currently cashing in as a senior advisor on Project Lead the Way. He is scheduled to be one of the speakers on a panel at jeb's annual confab in december. Rod Paige and Arne Duncan are also speaking with Condi Rice, who is also on the Board with DeVos and who chaired the Board while Jeb ran for Pres, is asking the questions of the three former Ed Sec's discussing ESSA, the new federal ed law.
As I have said I am glad Trump is the P-E and not Jeb, but we will be getting Jeb's desired ed policies. I knew that whoever the next Pres was the ed policies pursued would effectively be the same. It's just that Hillary would knowingly be on board with agenda as Arkansas was an early and knowing implementer. "High quality learning assessments" have a behavioral science function that is well-known to insiders that comes with the mandate when it is put into a charter or federal or state legislation or regulation.
Back to bacon now that the skillet has cooled a bit and next batch won't be burned.
Finishing the waterboarding thought from the now dead thread...
Why should Trump be obligated to have a well-thought out, mature position on waterboarding in the first place? There are far larger issues to deal with.
Hail to the Redskins,
Hail Victory.
Braves on the Warpath
Fight for Old DC.
And if anyone here wants to do a funny and mention the 1974 game and the name of the rookie QB for the Cowboys, go right ahead but no champagne for you:)
Another Bob, whatever Trump does is wrong as far as the MSM is concerned. If he had stuck to his position on waterboarding he would be an inflexible ideologue who doesn't listen to his experts. Obama, on the other hand, is just the smartest guy ever.
Trump should just say he is going with Obama's method...drop a bomb on the jihadist & blow him & anyone near him to smithereens. No water involved. No intel either, but who cares.
This is a Thanksgiving hymn we always sang in grade school back in the olden days before hymns were removed from music class. I think it has never had more meaning to me than this year:
We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing;
He chastens and hastens His will to make known.
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing.
Sing praises to His Name; He forgets not His own.
Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
Ordaining, maintaining His kingdom divine;
So from the beginning the fight we were winning;
Thou, Lord, were at our side, all glory be Thine!
We all do extol Thee, Thou Leader triumphant,
And pray that Thou still our Defender will be.
Let Thy congregation escape tribulation;
Thy Name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!

If absolute power tends to corrupt absolutely then democracy is absolute power in the hands of the majority. A majority surely willing to vote themselves advantages especially in times of decline. So our founders created a Constitutional Republic which guarantees the rights of the minority against the will of the majority. I found this short paragraph very telling about the 2000 election, concerning the popular vote in Yo te quiero mucho
What is more, Latinos cluster in some of the most populous, and therefore electorally desirable, states. California, Florida, New York, Illinois and Texas, the five states with the largest Latino populations, account between them for 166 electoral college votes, 61% of the total needed for victory. In a close race, as this one is, any identifiable bloc gets attention, and Latinos are both numerous and well-placed.
That's one hell of a voting block that has to be addressed in 61% of the electoral votes.
The Electoral College helps protect minority votes!
I normally refuse to watch football because of the the vicious stereotypical image propagated by the team that's exploiting a vulgar, common name for my ancestors, but hell, so long as they're leading the NFC East, I might have to rethink my boycott...
Hey Dubby, you do realize the intel briefings are mostly a relic of the Cold War days right? Back in the days where 24/7/365 communications was far more difficult.
I'm sure the people who do the monitoring and watching will be sure to get Trump the word instantly if there's something he needs to know.
He's about sixty days out from the inauguration - do you think he's going to act if there's something of importance today? No. That's BOzo's job. Do you think most everything in the PDB will be overcome by events by the time he takes the oath of office? Yes.
"DuDa reminds me of how my English cousins celebrate Thanksgiving Day. They do it on the 4th of July"
The guy's blowing off intelligence briefings 2 weeks into office. He knows zip about foreign policy and he's already blowing off D.B's.
This man does not want to be President. That's a fact that's going to start revealing itself in all sorts of ugly ways.
Remember, this is about your country, not your party. If the actions of your President put your country at risk, then your job as a patriot is to be honest.....to be honest..... and speak out against them.
Trump prizes loyalty. Mitt gave a very public disloyal attack on him and it was disgusting.
"Just can't nominate you, Mitt. It would split up the party."
I wondered about it when Huckabee got on TV and said it was disloyal to Trump's supporters.
I might feel sorry for Mitt if I ere a better Christian, but I cannot forgive that money he took from me and then ran such a crummy campaign.
And as someone said, it makes no sense. He has bashed Russia continuously which goes against what Trumpp wants to do, and he couldn't even stand up to Candy Crowley, so how's he gonna stand up to Sergei Lavrov?
But seriously, I would gravely discount any reports about how often Trump is receiving intelligence reports. Disclosing such information is detrimental to national security. And until I see a named source, I conclude that it's just more MSM lies...
So, while Mrs. JiB is working on the new flooring we have a movie on as background and its "Secretariat". Just a reminder to me what a magnificent animal he was and the struggles Penny Tweedy(Chenery) to syndicate him and watch him finish 3rd in The Wood Memorial before the Derby putting her performance guarantee at risk and lose not just the Derby but the $6+ million of syndicate fees.

I love horse racing, courtesy of my dad. He felt that the Indianapolis 500 was boring because it was machinery and besides, you couldn't bet!
He used to take us down to Churchill Downs in May to watch some of the races. He even let me bet one year when I was 12. Had me put a scarf on so I looked older and told me what to say when I got to the window. LOL!
My Methodist grandparents who did not believe in card-playing were NOT amused when they heard about it. LOL!
DublinDave you're off your game. You must have been celebrating the impending Clinton win for months, and are in the process of sobering up. I'm looking forward to your full recovery by January 20, 2017. Make DuDaSnarkGreatAgain!
"Well, DuDa, if nothing else - we got you to admit that Trump is the rightful and legitimate winner of the election! Glad you came around"
He's the winner by a technicality. He IS the winner, but she still got over 2 million more votes than him, which is about the size of a small country.
Then there's the 'McRory' style recount that may take place. Honestly, I don't want there to be a recount. I think it'll harmful to our country......our representative democracy/constitutional Republic if you will. But, it still may go ahead and we may-and if anyone thinks this is not possible then you've nothing to worry about-but it may lead to this election being overturned and given to Hillary Clinton.
Secretariat retired to the farm near our family farm in KY and we would walk over to pat him when we visited Grandmother. Even YL1 got to meet him. When my mother was little, it was Man of War she got to pat.
Kissinger & Schultz as Secs of State flew around the world less, counseled POTUS close to home more. And were loyal. Good checklist.
----------------------------------------
Good point, DublinDave. I just hope Alabama wins the time of possession (popular vote) this Saturday. The final score (Electoral College) is just a technicality, amirite?
Tallahassee, Fla – Today, Governor Jeb Bush, Chairman of the Foundation for Excellence in Education released the following statement.
“Betsy DeVos is an outstanding pick for Secretary of Education.
“She has a long and distinguished history championing the right of all parents to choose schools that best ensure their children’s success. Her allegiance is to families, particularly those struggling at the bottom of the economic ladder, not to an outdated public education model that has failed them from one generation to the next.
“I cannot think of a more effective and passionate change agent to press for a new education vision, one in which students, rather than adults and bureaucracies, become the priority in our nation’s classrooms.
“I congratulate Betsy and look forward to her bold leadership at the U.S. Department of Education.”
While you were posting a friend of mine sent me a text message about it. I had been following Conway so hadn't seen it yet. Brought the tweet over here so people could read exactly what it says.
Spoke with my 90 year old, Hillary supporting, mother this morning. She told me she was concerned about who Trump will name to be Secretary of State. I asked her why, since Hillary was the worst secretary of state ever and she voted for her.
Forgot to mention in my lyrics to the Redskins fight song, that the song is the reason there are the Dallas Cowboys. True story.
The Redskin band director tried to get George C. Marshall the Skins owner to pay for the song but Marshall just wanted to sell the Skins to Clint Murchison who was looking for a team for Dallas. Marshall blocked him at every turn since Clint didn't want the Skins but his own team from the bottom up.
After the falling out with Marshall, the band director a named Barnee Breeskin, then sold the fight song to Murchison who told Marshall that unless he released the hold on his bringing a team to Dallas he would hold the song hostage.
Re the popular vote nonsense: Clinton is currently up about two million in the popular vote. California, Massachusetts, Illinois and NY is supplying between 7 and 7.5 million of that margin. In other words, in states other than full monty blue balls states, Trump is up around 5 million in the popular vote. I'd say the Electoral College worked this time better than ever. Why should blue ballsers prevail when they occupy a very small portion of the country? In addition, if the rule was popular vote, Trump would have been campaigning in blue balls states, and might well have received another 2 million or so popular votes. Team Trump basically abandoned the blue balls states, because they were not winnable. Going back to BOE's thought, it's as if the losing football team claimed it really won because it dominated time of possession when the rule is that the team with more points wins.
Wasting your breath, TC.
Despite Weedavey's claim to the contrary, if Trump were up 10 million in the popular vote and The Ten Horned Beast were ahead in electoral votes all of a sudden we would become a constitutional republic and Trump's pop vote margin a mere technicality.
"I'd say the Electoral College worked this time better than ever. Why should blue ballsers prevail when they occupy a very small portion of the country"
Because if the election results were in the hands of the....I'm trying to find a word that's not so offensive......the more........how shall we say.....enlightened humans.....then perhaps this country would be even greater(not great again cause it's already awesome).
I love my redstate brethren,I do.....pumpkin pie and grits are awesome.....but .......gosh...if Aliens were to land in the U.S and they wanted to meet humans that represented the best of humanity, would you really wanted them landing in Vicksburg, Mississippi?
Come on, we're all thinking it.
Or would you rather they land in times square or los angelus?
There are probably a good number of progs in red states that also don't vote because they figure their votes don't count.
The overall congressional vote might be a decent indicator since it includes close contests even in a lot of heavily red and blue states.
Where's it at?
When we were young and struggling, hubby used to play in a band on the week-ends in clubs and bars in northern Maine and New Brunswick. One memory he has is playing in Ron Turcotte's club in Grand Falls,N.B. Turcotte had memorabilia displayed in the club. Of course,by that time he was confined to a wheelchair.
By the way, hubby is a drummer,so maybe he can play in the ALL CAPS BAND!
That's wonderful, Marlene! Best I can tell, we have six guitar slingers, two bassists, and a keyboards guy. And a mandolin dude. A drummer almost completes the group. Now, who's gonna be our front man / woman?
Trump mentioned Maine in his NYT interview the other day. He said people kept asking him,why are you going to Maine? That one EV in the 2nd district could have made all the difference! He won the 2nd district, but he didn't need the EV.

iirc beasts got a link to a spreadsheet with the incoming numbers. In popular vote totals I think the GOP has an the edge by about 4 million in the house. Can't find the link though.
Mr Trump was supposed to have rejected all of the politically correct nonsense—in the election he appealed to citizens, not groups. He should not be appealing to races, ethnicities and other groups in his appointments.
Rather, he should be thinking politically now (strategy, not tactics): how to consolidate the victory and strengthen the party in the upcoming interim elections.
His object is to build a new party, not to include and appease the various elements of the old party.
In terms of battlefield analysis he is not following up on his victory and allowing the remnants of the enemy to escape whereas he should follow them and destroy them utterly. He is not being political.
I really thought he had better instincts.
He showed such good instincts in the election.
Dubby, I wouldn't mind 'em landing in a Kansas wheat field, and meeting the farmer. The guy who feeds thousands out of his field (including a lot of New Yawkers and Los Angelino's who wouldn't know one end of a scythe from the other) is a pretty damn good representative of humanity to me.
Marlene, God Bless and Happy Thanksgiving, your Hubby is welcome to join GUS and the ALL CAPS BAND, under 2 condiions.
One) We need to know a wee bit about his KIT and it's quality!!
Two)He must play LOUD.
Yes dealing with all the houses of the lansraad, is tricky, specially the harkonnen's. I thought his first appointment matched his overall objectives, but his last less so

But seriously, I would gravely discount any reports about how often Trump is receiving intelligence reports. Disclosing such information is detrimental to national security. And until I see a named source, I conclude that it's just more MSM lies...

"Two weeks into office"
"Odumbo was the one dumb enough to believe there is an "Office of the President-Elect" -- apparently Duda is just as dumb"
Romney intended to use 'the office of the President elect' during his transition.
Trump is using it. Look at the banner on his website.

One of the most compelling stories of athleticism in the annals of sports.

Jack,
That's a great story. I am so glad I got to see him run, although it was on TV and not in person.
LOL!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

BTW happy thanksgiving everyone.

Jeb Bush's statement on the DeVos nomination:

Spoke with my 90 year old, Hillary supporting, mother this morning. She told me she was concerned about who Trump will name to be Secretary of State. I asked her why, since Hillary was the worst secretary of state ever and she voted for her.
She then claimed a hearing aid malfunction.

The rest is history.

There are probably a good number of progs in red states that also don't vote because they figure their votes don't count.
The overall congressional vote might be a decent indicator since it includes close contests even in a lot of heavily red and blue states.

MAGA
