« On The Troll Patrol | Main | Happy Thanksgiving All! »

November 23, 2016

MM looks like the food was in sync with the bad hair and polyester leisure suits. Some of the family has already headed for a football tailgate (how about them Lions!?) Hopefully the turkey will be moist. Stretched the wine budget courtesy of Lyle and JIB. They saved me from rummaging through the discount bin for the last bottle of Skinny Girl. I'm watching Princess Granddaughter and have to get cracking while she's still asleep. Warm blessings and respect to all of you.

Someone has probably posted this as well: the good news about Nikki is that her Lt. Governor has been on the Trump Train since day one, and will be now governing the state.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Yep. Also removes a possible 2020 challenger to Trump and gives her foreign policy cred if she wants to run in 2024. A nice win-win for all concerned.

Beasts of England

Happy Thanksgiving to all the JOM peeps! Love y'all, mean it...

up early for the turkey trot, and my ankle is sore...
I'm going to have to fake it to make it. (that formula has worked for many other things in my life.)

Miss Marple

I think a lot of it is due to rally withdrawal syndrome. For over a year, people had access to his thinking out loud every day, and now they are not party to this thoughts.

I was very sad when Dr. Carson said he felt he could work best outside the admin. I feared there had been a falling out between them, like the purported rift between Christie and Trump (which story I've still not bought into, and I heard Rudy say that Trump and Christie confer on the phone every day) So I was overjoyed yesterday when Dr. Carson accepted an appointment.

Also up early to make broth (absent lemon and ginger) to have for various dishes, put lemon zest in butter, and get bird less chilled. Watched a video on tucking in those pesky wings. I will just pretend it is my son's arm when he was 10 and there we go.

cheerleader--you may want to read what I wrote about devos on the previous thread. I am not surprised as trump's body language after meeting with her told me he liked her vision. Unfortunately for him, it doesn't work in the way she explained. Also to say you are against common core but for competency-based ed is ludicrous. They are the same thing when properly understood. DeVos knows that and Trump cannot at this stage.

The good news is is she is unambiguously involved in the story I was going to write about anyway so it really is an elite/ control of people through behavioral science ed and that not being appreciated. I loved reading that Bill Bennett had given a speech in 1994 at heritage before Dick DeVos, her Husband, spoke. That got plugged right into my merry little time line. Something to muse while everyone else is asleep and I work on that pesky bird.

Happy Thanksgiving. It's easier now that the sun is coming up than when it is dark.

As soon as I knew who the appointee was, I wanted to read what you had to say about it, so thank you for pointing me to your post, which I am now going to hunt for.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Not official yet, so keep that in mind.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Those potatoes won't peel themselves. Back later.

From what very little I've heard and read about Devos, she seems to be focused more on educational delivery methods than content.

Honestly I have no idea what the Department of Education even does other than wreak havoc with all the Title IX nonsense. Whatever it does is too much. I'm disappointed that I've heard no talk from the R side about shutting it down.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Trump repeatedly said they were going to make education local.

Any total abolishment isn't going to be telegraphed prior to January 20.

Potatoes, must peel potatoes!

rse, is this the post you were referring to?I'm going to re-post it below

Some videos of her speaking are posted at CTC, I'll post links. If you can access youtube you might find some bits that aid your research.

................rse's post from previous thread...............

Her husband. Her brother is Erik Prince of Blackwater, the private defense contractor.

DeVos is on the board of Jeb's Foundation for Excellence in Education that pushes every bad idea in ed and gets funded by the Progs like Gates and Pearson. They create model legislation on student privacy, for example, that hypes the wrong problem while getting the legislature to approve highly manipulative "adaptive learning' via digital platforms and virtual reality.

I have never spoken with her, but I have talked with her partner in her latest venture--Kevin Chavous, who is no conservative. I am glad it is not evers and I found the push by the Faux Anti-Common Core crew around the country to be something to behold, down to coordinating around petitions.

Happy Thanksgiving!

pagar, a bacon, ham and sausage supporter

Haven't seen it linked so here goes.

"He said that while he remains committed to his liberal clients, he “will no longer do business with any person that is a registered Republican or supports Donald Trump.”"

My feeling is the same as when the baker issue was front and center. Why anyone would want to do business with a person who announces they don't want to do business with you is hard to understand.

Jack is Back! (On his iPad)

Happy Thanksgiving all.

70F already here in The Hammock.

No cooking for us this year. 12 noon brunch with NY friends at our club.

Then watch some games or drive over to our only usable walkover and see how the beach is coming back. Driving to Flagler Beach yesterday I couldn't believe how the dunes and walkovers just disappeared. Give Scott credit he fixed A1A in under 2 weeks to keep that piece of "old Florida" alive for another snow-bird wintering season.

Captain Hate

Tucker Carlson has become a star on his show, apparently. I don't see it live, but he has quite a few fans on the Reddit site and they often post interviews. Those zingers are part of his charm.

I've been a fan for a long time although he goes slightly off the rails every now and then. Libs consistently hate him so he's got that going.

Happy Thanksgiving all. Still buzzed with good vibes from last night.

Why anyone would want to do business with a person who announces they don't want to do business with you is hard to understand.

The lefty mindset is precisely to shove their views in the faces of anyone who disagrees with them, in any way they can. Having a gay wedding? Find a Christian baker or florist to make uncomfortable.

In this case, where this idiot's company provides a service to people (rather than needing a service), he doesn't have that option, so he has to fall back on this publicity stunt. He must think he'll gain more like-minded ***hole clients than he'll lose, which tells you something either about him or his client base.

Christiane Amanpour

... has become a concern troll.

So she's worried that "freedom of the press" will be in danger under Donald Trump? The press already enslaved itself, with its supine, fawning accolades toward anything that came out of Obama's mouth. The "free" press then continued that proud tradition with Hillary, and even amped it up through brave acts such as meekly asking her campaign for permission about what to publish.

What I love is the feebleness of this "Hillary won the election" thing. It's hilarious!!! I also love the head fake on this "representative democracy" thing. No, that's the United Kingdom -- you know, where a chick can be elected from a tiny constituency & then successfully maneuver the parliamentary process to become PRIME MINISTER and run the government without any national vote for her at all.

We replace all of that Parliamentary stuff with an electoral college where THE PEOPLE working in concert with one another via the INDIVIDUAL STATES speak as one on the question of precisely who gets to be chief executive. That's what you define as a unique constitutional FEDERAL republic, not a mere representative democracy.

Remarkably, all of the Democrats bitching and moaning right now about the presidential election can't quite seem to grasp this rather particular (and obvious) context. Funny that, right?

The MFM needs to be shown pictures of how they let themselves be roped in to a moving enclosure during a Curb Dive event any time they complain about Trump. They could have made a stand instead of gutlessly complying. To hell with them.

Captain Hate

I don't know, Another Bob; the ban on DDT based on an unscientific weepy book probably has had a bigger impact.

crimethink is so all encompassing rattler, Tennessee, is a wannabe dubois, but he's more like ron 'us' karenga,

Agreed. As a college student I worshiped W.E.B. DuBois; Coates is such a disappointing joke in comparison, and that analysis holds true even when I'm being properly harsh in reviewing DuBois' obvious errors and misjudgments.

And that means you will see hallucinations like you have never seen. It will be epic.

Yeah, buddy. The manufactured nonsense will be something to behold.

Well, I'm off to Big Duval for a big Thanksgiving family feast. A very happy Thanksgiving to one and all and a tremendously good attaboy to President-elect Donald J. Trump for meeting and exceeding expectations in the early going. I'm just so damn relieved. I keep saying that to myself as I review the lay of the land. I'm just so damn relieved.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Another Bob,

No. I am sick of hearing about it.

An I alone in thinking waterboarding is the most overdone, invented controversy perhaps ever?

No. Responding to heads being chopped off and people being burned alive or drowned in cages with "we'll pour some water on your face" doesn't seem out of bounds.

On the other hand, it's just an option. If the general thinks he knows more effective techniques, that's fine with me.

Beasts of England

Tucker needs to go back wearing bow ties.

New thread. Beat you to it!

Happy Thanksgiving all -- especially TM.

Another Bob

I'm with you PD. I just hope the General wouldn't foreswear the option if the six pack and carton of cigs failed.

What Trump does know and said many times in his speeches is the U.S.A. spends more on education that any other country and is no where near the top in results. That is his measuring stick.

If the things that you write about, the things that cause the bad results, don't change, even though he's not down in the weeds, he'll be able to understand it's still not working.

Any total abolishment isn't going to be telegraphed prior to January 20.

My disappointment wasn't directed at Trump, but at the Republicans in Congress. Not sure why it can't be telegraphed now.

Janet ~ an obnoxious Trump supporter

The MFM needs to be shown pictures of how they let themselves be roped in to a moving enclosure during a Curb Dive event any time they complain about Trump. They could have made a stand instead of gutlessly complying. To hell with them.

Exactly. THe video on 9-11 of the MFM ASKING about the 'scooby van' & if they could go see what was happening was super pathetic. The MFM were standing behind TAPE for heaven's sake. A Hillary herder told them NO & they obeyed.

GO LOOK if you want! Thank heaven for some citizen that took a video of Hillary's seizure, otherwise we would never know.

THe MFM have become lazy stenographers. They wait for politicians & activist groups to tell them what to write & broadcast.

James D.

pagar @ 7:40

I think there's a huge difference between the baker and this CEO.

The baker did not say they would not serve gay customers. They only said they would not create something specifically for a gay wedding.

If the baker asked every customer if they were straight or gay, then refused to sell donuts or bagels to the people who said they were gay, I think we'd all have a big problem with that, and none of us would shed a tear if they were sued out of business.

That's what this CEO is doing. Nobody would expect him to take political work for clients he disagreed with. If a GOP candidate came to him for help with making their campaign website more visible or whatever, nobody would blink an eye at this guy saying no.

But what he's saying is that no one with the "wrong" views is allowed in the door, even if their business is totally non-political. That's not OK.

THe MFM have become lazy stenographers.

Not any more, Janet. With a Republican president they will suddenly and miraculously find their spines. But not their brains, unfortunately.

Yes, jimmyk, a reporter can be adversarial without being an ass.

These wannabe journo-types travel with far too much baggage.

pagar, a bacon, ham and sausage supporter

JamesD. If I remember correctly the bakery was not only put out of business: http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/2015/0428/Oregon-bakery-fined-135-000-for-refusing-to-make-gay-couple-s-cake

In the New Mexico case, the guy is not only still in business but is apparently hoping to generate more.

Maybe I am not saying it right.

James D.

You are saying it right, Pagar.

The bakery was in its rights, and should not have been sued, fined or acted against in any other legal way.

This CEO is in the wrong, and ought to be sued out of business, fined, and legally destroyed.

pagar, a bacon, ham and sausage supporter

If only they had brought a fake clock.

Now that's just rude - to concern trolls.

the generalisticly deplorable rich

a happy thanksgiving to everyone.

not to ruin it for anyone but is there a jerk in the nfl today than 3rd stringer Colon Kaepernick

what a douchebag this guy is.

he must have been thinking, yeah I know how to get my name in the Miami paper I'll wear a Castro shirt and deny that I am wearing a Castro shirt ...

the generalisticly deplorable rich

Another Bob-

agreed. wonder how much the coverage of the War on Terror has been shaped by the middle eastern investment in us media companies?

Captain Hate

not to ruin it for anyone but is there a bigger jerk in the nfl today than 3rd stringer Colon Kaepernick

No is the short answer; plus he's a terrible quarterback getting worse by the day playing for a lunatic head coach.

Jack, is your Comet Ping Pong gathering still on for Tuesday?

Yes rich, CNN was financed in part through bcci, prince halal had stakes in aol and newscirp, and hIS outbid Dorsey on Twitter.

So, because he takes the opinion of a bad-ass Marine more seriously than a politician about the effectiveness of an interrogation technique -and if you say Hanoi Hilton, I'll say Keating Five - he's now wishy-washy?
