Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

Too bad Barry had an anus when he was born.

(Pretty sure someone will fix that comment for me)

Wow, I'm laughing so hard I'm crying.

Writing for Lena Dunham’s newsletter, Lenny, author Virginia Heffernan goes for broke, assuring Hillary’s broken-hearted devotees that not only did Clinton win the election, but that she likely would have proved to be too powerful a figure to be constrained within the confines of the Oval Office.

How powerful? Heffernan writes that Clinton is maybe “an idea, a world-historical heroine, light itself.”

… The presidency is too small for her. She belongs to a much more elite class of Americans, the more-than-presidents. Neil Armstrong, Martin Luther King Jr., Alexander Fucking Hamilton.

Hillary Clinton did everything right in this campaign, and she won more votes than her opponent did. She won. She cannot be faulted, criticized, or analyzed for even one more second. Instead, she will be decorated as an epochal heroine far too extraordinary to be contained by the mere White House.
That was a close one, then. America nearly stuck her in a dead-end job that was way beneath her. How far beneath her? Heffernan concludes that Hillary Clinton is, indeed, the Greek goddess Athena

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

Sounds dumber than Doug Heffernan.

You don't have to go Colorado for that level of delusion but it helps.

I see that Dunham only lets people dumber than she is, which is a select few, write for her newsletter.

Btw, raise your hand if you're intrigued by just how badly the GOP will (redacted) up this opportunity.

A week out, trump vanquished two major political machines zaphod and red queen's, and the press is still on squirrel mode.

Thanks y'all. The daughter was particularly upset as she wanted the girl pup.

Bijou is laying in the whelping box about 4 feet from me with the boy firmly between her front legs both sleeping soundly. Amazing that she was more in tune with her puppies' health than we all were.

Here's my response for when they do it, Captain.

Steph - Putting down a little pup like that is so sad but obviously nothing else could be done. Sounds like the little male puppy is a winner. Good luck with him. Have you named him?

I think Steph should name the pup Trump. He's beating the odds.

Re: Bannon, don't forget he championed the Huntress unreservedly when he made the documentary The Undefeated. That film has a few aesthetic misses, but is a confident statement of passion and resolve. It converted my Obama-voting husband into a Palin fan; five years later he voted for Trump enthusiastically.

Thanks to Spotify, I started doing a Leon Russell retrospective last night. Dear God, that first self titled album hasn't worn well although it still ends on a high note with "Roll Away the Stone"; maybe I was more tolerant of false starts when when I was younger and thought I would live forever. Leon Russell and the Shelter People still sounds great though.

Had dinner with a guy who,was assigned to photograph Joe Cocker, who greeted him at the door in the morning with a beer in one hand and a fat joint in the other. Joe, ever the generous host, asked the photographer if he wanted a toke to which he responded that it wasn't a good idea while he was working and keeping things literally in focus was of great importance. Joe kept rolling 'em through the day and still asked the same question.

Texas Liberty Gal

Oh great - now we've got protesters in Dallas - and they are targeting a church

I'd rather see him on the Supreme Court myself

Cruz might be better at AG than on SCOTUS, at least for now. I think of Cruz and SCOTUS a bit the way JMH thinks of Bolton and State: Cruz would likely piss off his colleagues there, and there are a lot of really solid conservative choices for nominees. I could also see Cruz getting blocked by the Senate.

Merkel should run everythings.

Anyways, mystery solved:

Dave (in MA)

Anybody with sand in his mangina over Trump having some of his family members on his team of advisors might need a reminder of how it wasn't exactly a coincidence that Robert Kennedy's stint as Attorney General started on Inauguration Day, 1960.

Why would hong kong chinese parliamentary colony be any different? State owned media CBC paid by unelected PM, trudeau (AKA FTDF Tom's pal), provincial CBC offices existing and closing at the whim of unelected premiers - like wynne who got mad at hydro and destroyed them in a day or just getting their lineage between vikings and aboriginals 'mistaken.' CBC CISIS, BBC MI56, CNN CIA- just letters of the government propaganda arms. Its obvious to the rest of the world who laugh as they urinate from great heights and we open our mouths for fresh rain water.

Parliaments are more embedded, invested than the 'experienced' generations of clintons. Toms pal ,trudeau,is second generation unelected king of canada. No nepotism laws here or there. Just doing business like the rest of the world....

The few nepotism laws we have are because of clinton in the early 90s. Want more laws call congress.👍

The list of potential candidates for SCOTUS that Trump compiled were all experienced judges, with proven track records.

I am so disappointed Dr. Carson is not interested in cabinet seat, and am wondering if there is more to the story that what he is saying.

Excellent compilation of 23 of the 1200 responses WaPo received in response to its "why did you vote for Trump" below.

Perfect for sharing with all your your more vocal "surprised" and "shocked" family members, because this will shut them up before Thanksgiving. In my experience, once they get past "racist, misogynist , Muslin hating" they don't have anything much to say, and this should do that.

An excellent example:

I am a gay millennial woman and I voted for Donald Trump because I oppose the political correctness movement, which has become a fascist ideology of silence and ignorance. After months of going back and forth, I decided to listen to him directly and not through minced and filtered quotes from the mainstream media.

I learned that about Bannon watching Charlie Rose. They've only used the term 'controversial' about eleventy-hundred times so far. Two of the panelists - specifically one dude from Bloomberg - looks literally panicked. Is it too early for popcorn? :)

Miss Marple the Deplorable

That post is exactly right.

I am pleased I was successful in my mission. I don't know for sure she would have gone downtown, but there were enough warning signs to cause me to take action.

Now that arrests and injuries have occurred, we will no longer be entertaining that thought.

On a happier note, I am pleased to say she has been accepted into the DePauw honors program. She is still waiting to hear from Middlebury, University of Pennsylvania, and Columbia. (I do not favor Columbia for the same reason I do not favor Chicago. She is not equipped to deal with a large city.)

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Regarding the lobbyists being fired, I saw a comment on Reddit that they think Trump might have set up an elaborate sting on Christie.

At any rate, it's interesting watching the press kept at arm's length over this stuff. I figure the Reddit people have better analysis than CNN, anyway.

I don't know why Althouse attracts such good commenters. She has zero insight. "I'm utterly jaded by the emotive prose from the NYT." Whoa, really?

Beasts of England

They're hyperventilating now. One guy from the NYT is gonna have to get his [redacted] steam-cleaned on the way home. Thanks, Mr. Trump!

And congratulations to pupster Trumpster!!

Apparently the New York Times wrote an article that said that foreign leaders couldn't contact Trump because the transition was so chaotic. (Of course, there have been two articles from China and Russia praising phone calls between Trump and Putin and Xi.)

Anyway, Trump answers via Twitter:

I think one of the questions they are asking cabinet officers is "How much sleep do you need?"

The problem will be can the media, the opposition, our enemies and his staff be able to keep up.

Don't forget the Columbia library - a McKim, Mead and White classic.

Good Morning!

Deadheaded yesterday from Paris to Shanghai on Air France-----great wine, good service. Read a fascinating bio about an American who in 1911 arrived in Shanghai to be the prime salesman for Singer Sewing Machines. Absolutely fascinating the rungs he had to jump thru to figure out how to convince the culture to allow women to operate these machines in a sewing industry that had been traditionally male, (he convinced the missionaries to allow the women to come to their churches and be taught by women instructors how to run the machines, thus saving them from being sold into lives of prostitution by their poor families) and then having to deal with the revolutions following Sun Yat Sen and the civil wars and having the cities he had sold sewing machines to being wiped out. What an odd but interesting slice of world history. He became good friends of the Soong parents of the 3 daughters, 1 of whom wound up marrying knowing Sun Yat Sen and the youngest becoming madam Shang Kai Shek's wife. Fascinating to read about how often he actually did come across heads on pikes during all the turmoil during the Civil War years and WW1 years, while having his riverboat of supplies hauled by coolies up the Pearl and the Yangtze rivers into the hinterlands to sell Singer Sewing Machines. Anyhow, an odd but very good book to read to know a bit of Chinese/American history from 100 years back that I would not have expected. Great stuff.

Also, thanks to whoever posted the video of Ivanka Trump's very cute 5 year old daughter singing Chinese poems and nursery rhymes. I played that here a few minutes ago to the locals here at a bar just down Nanking Road and it made a huge impression. I had to replay it multiple times. Make no mistake. That video will make big friends among the Chinese. That video of a US President Elect's Jewish granddaughter singing in Mandarin has the power to show more than all the words an Obama or a Clinton have or could blather about the real respect they might pretend to have for the Chinese and their culture. Chinese ain't stupid. They have as good Bulls**t detectors as anyone in the world. That will make a positive impression, and especially if it gets big play stateside and overseas. Advantage Trump.

I love how the WSJ pretends they had no part in the vilifying of Trump. And then, they proceed to vilify Bannon, while sniffing at the politics of demonization.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Captain Hate,

Dr. Carson is the rare person who knows his limits.

I think he's right. He's probably more effective as a liaison and surrogate on TV.

I remember how many of my nominally Democrat liberal friends, who after living through Carter and then experiencing Reagan, switched to Republican.

I am hoping and praying history repeats itself.

Singer guy sounds fascinating, daddy. Title of book please?

Another thing I find fascinating is BOzo the narcissist's "I would have won a third term, and a fourth, and a ...." tour now playing and continuing its run the rest of his life.
From The Examiner:

""You know, I won Iowa not because the demographics dictated that I would win Iowa," Obama said Monday. "It was because I spent 87 days going to every small town and fair and fish fry and VFW hall, and there were some counties where I might have lost, but maybe I lost by 20 points instead of 50 points."

"There are some [rural] counties maybe I won that people didn't expect, because people had a chance to see you [me] and listen to you [me] and get a sense of who you [I] stood for and who you [I] were fighting for," he added"

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Pity. He coulda been a contender.

Miss Marple,

I know you don't like Levin much but Baier was one of Rupert's news readers that he used to consistently praise as being a straight shooter and would have him on as a guest occasionally. I know that he was extremely put off by Fox's debate hosting performance and didn't absolve anyone from culpability with special attention to MeAgain, and shortly after that I stopped regularly listening to him as part of my "I'm spending too much (redacted) time on politics" reallocation of time.

Marjorie Jeffrey at American Greatness (Decius's joint):

The battle for Helms Deep is over. The battle for the administration is about to begin.

This is why it is imperative that the NeverTrumpers be kept as far away from power as possible: not merely out of pride or resentment, but for the good of the country. Imagine it this way: Henry V gives his Crispin’s Day speech at Agincourt, and some of the army leaves. Not only do they desert openly, but they mock King Henry and his troops for staying, vilifying their cause as unjust and calling him a tyrant. Then, after you miraculously defeat the enemy, these deserters return and demand to be made generals. Forget their dishonor, forget that that they hold their manhoods cheap: these are not loyal people. They do not serve the common good. They have only ever served themselves.
