Evidently, there is a hot mic of Obama with the Greek PM, where Obama is surprised that the PM works in the Presidential palace but then goes back to his own home at night. Obama says, "wish I could that".

So do I but permanently starting about January 22, 2009. Retroactive.

Arnn is on the Board of the Heritage Foundation with Rebekah Mercer so that should help. On the other hand, the extent to which the template for the Barney charter school initiative dovetails with the language of ESSA on when a CMO becomes entitled to federal money may be viewed as a conflict.

I see that Twitter is purging so-called 'alt.right' accounts. That's cute. Maybe we can get a court ruling that it and FaceBook are virtual public accommodations. :)

I resisted all attempts to entice me to click on a Buzzfeed link. But after so many of you pointed to the Steve Bannon interview, I actually caved in, clicked, and read it.

While Buzzfeed is a must avoid, the Bannon interview is a must read:

But of course, from Clarice's 9:30 link:

There are 10 times more Democrats than Republicans on university faculties, and the conservatives are disproportionately to be found in the hard sciences

The hard sciences where thinking logically is paramount and no one cares how you "feel".

as John Tower could have attested...

Good point. I'd forgotten that one.

Switching gears, I can think of nothing that'd make me happier than the Dems rallying around Hillary and Nancy Pelosi. That'll work for 'em!

And I'd never heard of alt.right until last week. Maybe ought to get out more.

MM: I think you should make an effort to get White House press credentials, or at least one of your trusted reporters.

Way back in 1970 I did a month-long study project of slant in the news studying New York City AP and CBS Network TV News in NYC during John Lindsey’s transit strike negotiations.

I can’t think of a more dreadful job than being obliged to cover the White House. Grand stretches of boredom, scrambling to come up with “news” interspersed with short stretches of panic trying to report on major surprises nobody knows anything about.

“Chief Washington Correspondent” is a sentence, not an honor.

P.S. One of our reporters, Bill Ringle, back in the 1950s, actually did become chief Washington correspondent for Gannett.

You also have to be able to do basic arithmetic; which is incompatible with practically all liberal fiscal policies.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

You know, one of the things I neglected to do but should is push for the state legislature to exercise a bit more control over the state universities, at least as far as funding.

Purdue is run as a tight ship by Mitch Daniels, but the other three (IU, Ball State, and Indiana State) are full of these professors who waste students' time and money with their pet causes and stir up all sorts of trouble.

I vehemently object to state funds being used for safe spaces and diversity projects. It all stirs up this victimization culture which should be nipped in the bud.

China and Russia must be anticipating just walking into the US and taking over in about 20 years, when these loser kids are in positions of responsibility and the older, tougher folks have retired or joined the choir invisible.

A remake of Red Dawn in 20 years wouldn't have those Colorado kids shouting "Wolverines."

It would have a bunch of hipsters crying, begging for safe spaces, and asking if they could have some Play-Doh to calm down.

Pffft.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Buckeye,

The scene is a burlesque stage in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. BUD ABBOTT is trying a out a new partner, because Lou has left for a role in the new Trump administration (as Assistant Secretary of Defense in charge of Military Intelligence). He is trying out a Wise Latina, because he figures his act needs some diversity.

BUD: So Lou left.

SONIA. Left? Good.

BUD: Right!

SONIA: Thought you said left.

BUD: Right.

SONIA: Left.

BUD: That's right. He's left.

SONIA: Left, right, left, right. What is this, the army?

BUD: yes, Lou's in military intelligence.

SONIA: And he's left? That's good.

BUD. No, he's right! That's why he's left.

SONIA: You have to be right to be left?

BUD: Sometimes. It depends on the administration...If the admistration is left, then the right is left. If the admistration is right, then the left is left.

SONIA: Lou's left. That's right?

BUD: That's what I've been telling you.

SONIA: But he's working for Trump, so he's right.

BUD: That's why he's left.

it's time for the feds to shut of the money spigot to colleges (in other words, get the feds completely out of the student loan business).

Once the money dries up, the schools won't be able to pay the campus thought police; and parents who are personally taking out or co-signing on private loans to pay for their kids to attend college will be taking much harder looks at what they are paying for.

I thought you guys were joking until I clicked on the link:
CNN BREAKING NEWS: Trump Goes Out To Eat Dinner Tonight

Jake Tapper do we know if the steak Trump is reported to be eating was raised humanely or was it maliciously slaughtered by Big AG?

Well Anderson, we're still waiting on a resolution of that question but we can report that the carbon footprint of the cow in question added approximately 480 milligallons of Methane to Earth's warming atmosphere during the period before it was ruthlessly butchered.

So if he'd have gone vegetarian...?

He'd have done real benefit to the planet, Anderson, real and significant benefit, and by extension, real and significant benefit to all of us that his supporters tell us he cares about.

Gloria Borger, do we know what he had for an appetizer?

Anderson, an unnamed source who asked to remain unidentified tells CNN that they believe Donald Trump had the shrimp cocktail, which as you know is soon to be featured on the list of 2nd Cousins of Environmentally Endangered Spieces.

Thanks Gloria, that's certainly troubling. Wolf can you tell us what he had as a side order?

I certainly can Anderson. He had French fries, which as you know are offensive to our EU allies when referred to as "Freedom Fries." We don't yet know if he called them "Freedom Fries," but we can say that he was reported to have asked for a bottle of Ketchup other than Heinz.

That's certainly troubling. Did he say a blessing before eating?

Yes he did Anderson, but here's the kicker on that. He had his 5 year old granddaugter deliver a Blessing in Manderin Chinese, thus insulting half a billion Chinese by not having her reciting the Blessing in Cantonese, thereby endangering President Obama's efforts to pivot to Asia.

David Gergen, as a Republican, what's your take?

Well Anderson, I don't wish to say that his meal was out of the bounds of propriety of someone in his position, but I do think that the reports we've been hearing, if true, argue that his failure to comply with the Food Pyramid of having at least one green vegetable, bring us back to the realization that he is indeed a potentially reckless individual who disregards the norms that normal, sensitive people share, and therefore is another sign of concern of just how far out of the mainstream of American life Donald Trump is.

Thanks David. Don Lemon, does what Donald Trump is eating tonight suggest to you that he is racist?

Yes it does, Anderson. By refusing to notify the Press of where and when he was eating dinner tonight he kept Black members of the Press out of the restaurant as effectively as if he had said "No Blacks Allowed." We who have been subject to slavery and Jim Crow as my ancestors were would immediately notice the parallels between this and the Civil Rights protesters at the lunch counter in Carolina that ushered in the Civil Rights movements of '64. Certainly this is a nod to his White Supremicist supporters that we are back to a system of 2 tiered justice in America.

Anderson, sorry to interrupt, but we've received more important Breaking News here at CNN.

What is it Wolf?

They've just ordered dessert, Anderson, and it appears Donald Trump has ordered ice cream----"Vanilla Ice Cream!"

"Vanilla?" Not chocolate, not Neapolitan....but "Vanilla."

"Vanilla."

Thanks, Wolf. I have a bad feeling about this, Panelists, I'll come back to your important thoughts on the CNN Breaking News about Donald Trump ordering "Vanilla" Ice Cream for dessert when we return from a commercial break. You're watching CNN, the most trusted name in news.

My Polish neighbor who is the Astrophysicist who helped make that big asteroid discovery earlier this year is a lib.

I think mostly because his wife is, and they spent too much time at Harvard and Yale while he was getting his education.

About 3-4 weeks ago a big pile of stone and pallets of pavers got dropped off in his driveway. He and his son have been taking wheelbarrow loads to their back yard and down a very steep ravine to the creek.

They built a fire pit with really cool seating, quite nice, and a very big job. The setting is gorgeous, Norman Rockwell worthy.

They use their fireplace in the house and now the fire pit more than anyone else in the neighborhood.

I don't think he is concerned about his carbon emissions, and is certainly intelligent enough to understand the facts.

Probably no barber college at Harvard:)

Michael (fpa Patriot4Freedom)

About a year and a half ago, I was reading an opinion by one of the greatest wordsmiths of the Supreme Court in modern times, Antonin Scalia.

When I finished, I decided to read a dissenting opinion written by the 'wise Latina' herself. It had all of the complexity of thought and structure one would expect to find in a paper written by a 15 or 16-year-old.

I had *never* previously read any opinions that made me question whether the justice themselves actually attended law school. Sotomayor's opinion made me wonder if they awarded her a degree just to get her out of school.

DebinNC

More from Thomas Lifson link:
"If the law is used to strike down a rule, the federal agency that issued it is barred from enacting similar regulation again in the future. The obscure law — called the Congressional Review Act — was passed 20 years ago at the behest of Newt Gingrich, then the House speaker and now a member of Mr. Trump’s transition team. It gives Congress 60 legislative days to review and override major regulations enacted by federal agencies. In the Senate, the vote would not be subject to filibuster."

We owe so much to Newt, who was our GA Rep at the time. If Paul Ryan doesn't use this rule as Pelosi would if she had his power, he has no political future outside of WI.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

Brilliant daddy. And like so many things these days difficult to distinguish from reality.

Buckeye

Sotomayor's opinion made me wonder if they awarded her a degree just to get her out of school.

When my BIL was in med school he had a first year classmate who was a "diversity" student who was clearly admitted to improve their "score". She was a minority, a twofer.

OSU med school spent lots of time and money tutoring her for THREE years in an attempt to get her through first year.

Finally threw in the towel.

BIL said "no way I would want her treating my kids".

Guess the good news is SC less critical?!?!

Heh.

My prejudice on "climate scientists" is they tend to be long on biologists, tree huggers and ring counters (and other proxy enthusiasts), and short on chemists/engineers/physicists, but I don't have any data to support it.

Actually, CT (if you come back to this now-dead thread) there are real scientists who hang out at the American Geophysical Union. They look to me to be in a completely different universe from the jet-setting types.

(DrF studies cosmic ray production in thunderstorms, so he is on the periphery of meteorology.)
