and beasts ... um why would you be watching Charlie Rose?

turn it off, turn it off. could only imagine how painful it would have been to listen to him and Friedman yammering on ...

moore's law, climate refugees ... my host Prince al-Famous in some dusty oil sheikdom listened in rapt attention as I explained globalization and technology and economics ... I can honestly call it a philosophy of everything.

Beasts of England

Pro tip: better get you one of them MAGA hats and learn how to shoot a gun, DuDa. Based on the rally photos I've seen, the dem chicks are kinda homely. And I'm guessing hairy, too.

So, how does this work anyway? Re-education camps? Asset reallocation? Have you made any style choices on the Uniforms????

You know all the trolling I've been doing over the years was just a joke, right? You guys are awesome and I was considering catching up on my 'Mein Kampf'.

I can give you names of prominent Liberals who are planning to resist. I can be of use to you. Do you want to use me for sex? Use away. How bout a kidney.....you wanna kidney?????

We're a republic with an electoral college, Dub. The popular vote is a silly distraction.

Although I would like to congratulate Chattanooga in their impressive victory over my beloved Tide last Saturday: 34 minutes to 26 minutes in time of possession...

Re Trump on Hillary: we don't know what he meant, we just have a vague statement by Kellyanne. Meanwhile the left is exploding about how this shows Trump thinks he's a dictator! A violation of DoJ independence!!!!

We also don't know if his is just in reference to emails, or includes the foundation investigation. My guess is the latter will proceed, especially as it's not just a federal matter.

I like the part where the left is now agitating for Hillary to be prosecuted, just so they can make Trump do something he supposedly doesn't want to do.

If you assume Wikileaks coordinated with the Trump campaign then its likely Trump has the dirt on Hillary's email server, the Clinton Foundation, Anthony Weiner's sex crimes, the rumored pedophile sex ring, etc. That means Trump has some leverage.

If at any point over the next 4 years the Democrats decide to engage in major obstructionism, they will have to decide if it is worth the risk of Trump potentially releasing some of that damaging info to the public.

IANAL, but I'd be ok with dropping the e-mail prosecution IN EXCHANGE for cooperation on the CF investigation and an immediate suspension of all CF activities and freezing of accounts pending the outcome of the investigation.

"Cooperation" means telling the truth, not holding back any documents or e-mails.

Why is it that some Americans *believe* that the Chief Executive of our Executive Branch of government is "an elected representative?"

We are allowed to exercise our "relative power" in the election of the chief executive as we do in the election of our representatives in the federal government.

That is the extent of the *democratic* process in our constitutional federal republic.

Our relative power as voting citizens is mitigated by the representatives we elect to Congress.

There has been enough said about the genius of the Electoral College so I won't belabor that any further.

This nonsense about the "popular" vote though gets a few beebeez to the backside:

The "vote" has become a mail-it-in convenience for Americans to point to indignantly when their candidate loses, and triumphantly when they remain uninvolved in their congressional district but can say "I voted."

Whoopedy duda.

The election of our *representatives* in Congress has a democratic element to it. In a pure democracy, which the snowflakes insist that we are, the people have direct voting-based involvement in passing legislation--- kind of like this infernal "ballot proposition" nonsense in California which have us $127 billion in debt.

What if the Civil Rights Act of 1964 were to have been handled as a general election ballot initiative across the 50 states? Would it have gone the way of Proposition 13 out here in California? Pecked to death by its opponents?

Whoops.

.... what I notice is the word "authoritarian" is now being used by the elitist establishment types..

And here all along I thought Tom Friedman was a big fan of "an elightened autocracy." How come he doesn't like our "Enlightened Autocrat?" How cone he only likes "Enlightened Autocrats" if they're in charge of Communist countries? What's up with that?

Absolutely the best election EVAH, Rocco!! We'll never see such a groundswell of the people, nor the exposure of so many frauds across the entire spectrum. I am always thankful for my blessings, but this Thursday will be particularly joyful.

DebinNC

I'd go with Stars & Stripes Forever

That triggers a memory, maybe false. On GWB's Inauguration Day, I remember the networks had a split screen with the Clinton entourage going to the airport, arriving, and readying to board a plane for NY. I seem to remember a brass band in the hanger playing "Hail to the Chief". The idea of the the Bushes having to share the limelight on that day still seems bizarre. No telling what narcissistic shenanigans BOzo has planned for Trump's day.

JohnH

Porch, saw your comment on a prior thread about a Thanksgiving guest overstepping. Similar thing happened to me years ago when first wife's friends were invited and wanted to bring dressing. I wasn't allowed to have stuffing as it would be rude(?). Worst dressing ever! Ever since my approach has been "Everyone is welcome to come, no one is invited". People that aren't invited don't get to bring anything. We usually seat 20+.

Buckeye

hey daddy,

Good to hear that momma didn't have to go under the knife.

Are either of the girls going to be home to cook her a turkey dinner while you are visiting your favorite watering hole in Osaka?

Buckeye

Thanksgiving at my sister's should be fun.

I expect 17 immediate family, various in-laws and then whatever new "significant other" one of the nieces, nephews, Jr., or Buckeyette chooses to drag along.

I am going to be as gracious as I possibly can be with the few "progressives" in the family, unless they start it first.

Then I will let 'em have it with both barrels:)

"Trump won’t pursue charges against Clinton"

"He doesn’t have to. Look for an equivalent of Judicial Watch to file a case and initiate discovery. Then, after the RICO is obvious, the DOJ can merely step in to see that justice is done."

Yeah, agree. Let a private group or, for that matter, NYPD bring charges. Then let justice be done not hindered.

Just me and Mrs. Kid here with our chihuahua-daschund-rotweiler pup "Anya", cats (the Rudeez)Buddy, Baby, and Chi, our Uzbek tortoise Jeeto, on Big Fowl Day.

We can see Alcatraz Island from our front deck. Usually the scene of an all Nation's sunrise prayer ceremony on turkey day. I am up early to pray for their safe travels to and from. Treacherous waters.

My side of the fam is in four states (6 sibs) and Dad is in Lynchburg Virginny (84 and killin' it).
Travel during TG is airport hell. No gracias.

Mrs. Kid's famille is in SoCal. The big shindig showdown will be in Babs Boxer land (Palm Springs) beginning the day after Christmas. I guess starting in February father-in-law (Rancho Mirage) will have new "naybuz" as the Bath House Rat and his whatever will take up residence there.

Looking forward to that though. FIL is a 5 star restauranteur in Palm Springs. His restaurant has been the best in the desert for five years running. He and the Mrs. are big fundraisers for the Dhimmis. Could it be that the Kevlar Kid will end up rubbing elbows (eww) with the BHR?

Back from my sojourn to Amish country. What? Of course they don't have wi-fi! It's Amish country!

Spelunking around the caverns of the intarweb this morning, I stumble on this stalagmite:

http://thefederalist.com/2016/11/22/govern-well-gop-needs-drop-identity-politics/

The real recipe for making your dreams come true is investing in yourself and your family, not waiting for the government to redistribute the wealth of others. Feeling envious of the kid who left your hometown to study engineering at Stanford University and launch a tech firm isn’t going to help you.

America isn’t a class-based country. Locations aren’t markers of class. “Flyover country,” a phrase that seems to be used more often by aggrieved right-wingers (even vineyard growers who live on inherited farms in Fresno, California), is home to Walmart, Koch Industries, GM, and the headquarters of some of the country’s largest businesses, not to mention huge numbers of future bankers, filmmakers, journalists, and policy wonks.

Californians aren’t a class of people. Being a resident of Washington DC means you were probably born elsewhere. Midwesterners make up 8 percent of those who live in DC, according to Census data. Only 37 percent were born in DC. In California, 55 percent of residents were born elsewhere. We are a country of movers and pursuers.

If conservatives and Republicans want to get back to helping Americans advance themselves by cutting down on red tape and pushing dynamic free-market policies, they’re going to have to end their appeals to class warfare and self-victimization. We need to emphasize the value of education and expertise, rather than demeaning those who pursue higher knowledge. Conservatives have a lot of work to do, and it would help if they had some knowledgeable “elites” who actually know something about the difference between Quds and Kurds in charge when the next foreign or domestic crisis strikes.

Sheesh, this is apparently NOT parody. I guess it could best be described as meta-neverTrump. RTWT. Or not.

Note: the bolded part in the original is a hyperlink to none other than the estimable VDH writing at NRO. Another note: VDH's "inherited farm" is not a "vineyard grower," whatever the hell that is. You can own a vineyard or be a grape grower but I've never heard of such a thing as a "vineyard grower." Pffft.
