Does one get credit for being first if he is in a ghost town?

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Towards the end of the previous thread, I posted links and tweets that an Egyptian paper says they have transcripts proving that Kerry brainstormed with the Palestinians on how to thwart Trump and stick it to Israel.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

To further elaborate, I think those transcripts came from Sisi, and are meant to preempt whatever Kerry is up to.

There is some concern they are going to attempt another resolution in the UN, starting the process towards recognizing a Palestinian state.

buccaneer morgan

We'll notify the others.

There's a irony about Algeria pushing the resolution, than again considering that Nazis sheltered by nasser, helped in the independence movement, perhaps not.

If John Effin Kerry is discovered with early onset rigor mortis, I for one will not shed a tear.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

More trouble.

I cannot believe VP Biden went to Ukraine to torpedo Israel. He has lost his mind or as narciso says the 'brain slugs' got to him.

buccaneer morgan

There's another explanation. Familial you might say.

Comanche Voter

Half baked? Our Dear Leader is like a souffle that never rose--much less collapsed.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Remember that gas company, hunter was on the board of, and who they answer to.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

It was Ukrainian, wasn't it?

Cecil Turner

Ben Rhodes:

"What Secretary Kerry will be doing is he will give a speech in which he lays out a comprehensive vision for how we see the conflict being resolved -- where we see things in 2016 as we unfortunately conclude our term in office without there being significant progress toward peace."
Got it: no progress makes 'em experts. As if anyone is any more interested in Kerry's idea how to win mideast peace than his views on how to win Vietnam. No thanks . . . pretty sure he isn't even on our side . . . and never was.

buccaneer morgan

Just like Milan, in retrospect was the most obvious place for amri to try to ground.

There's another explanation. Familial you might say.

You're suggesting Biden's son, Hunter was giving Biden some Ukranian crack?

That actually makes sense, Narciso.

Captain Hate

Biden is a miserable pile of shit. I don't think some of you have adequately processed that, giving him the benefit of the doubt because you're being charitable to the dumb goof. Fuck that; he's as rotten as they get.

Beasts of England

Is T-25 days the appropriate time to be laying out one's vision for anything other than labeling the boxes 'Kitchen', 'Den'...

buccaneer morgan

Close enough daddy, of course when everyone was screaming manafort and page, oddly they didn't look at ockhams razor.

RE: TK encountered mouse droppings and is now short of breath? Have the doctor's checked for Hantavirus infection - it can evolve into a pulmonary issue after several days/weeks and is serious.

Secretary of State John Kerry to outline Middle East peace plan

Great idea. In power for 7 year's 331 days, but wait until your last 3 weeks in office to announce their Middle East Peace Plan. Pure genius!

buccaneer morgan

I was aware of how much a fool he was, although lying about who killed his wife made him a knave.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

There is more going on than this stupid speech.

Israel is saying they have proof that Obama was colluding with the Palestinians.

Egypt says they have proof as well.

Transcripts showed up in an EGyptian paper today, which the Times of Israel is reporting.

I still say Sisi has the goods on Obama based on documents and computers he got when Morsi was overthrown.

Going to be a very interesting week, for sure.

I'm tired of interesting weeks MM

buccaneer morgan

Now the Ukraine was a major support base for Syria, and part of the pact with the sepal.

Captain Hate

Zippy and Lurch are using those mongrel palis as last minute diversions from what giant failures those two shitheads have been in the ME where everything they and Curb Dive touched have been destabilized. Of course the UN joooo hating dumbasses can be counted on to play along.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Well, mockmook, I am tired of this type of interesting, myself.

Moothing to be done but watch. We will see what Trump has to say tomorrow.

Tillerson's going to have his work cut out for him.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

And, since I just made a ridiculous typo, iti's time for me to go to bed.

buccaneer morgan

I knew Australia was a settler state, a coinage Russell mead came up in his moonbat phase, but new Zealand?

Dave (in MA)

Wife's watching one of those Kennedy Center things where one of the featured artists is TFG and Lurch's chief weapon against terrorism, James Taylor. I'm not really paying attention, but Clenis introduced something or other and managed to keep his trousers up the whole time.

Cecil Turner

Is T-25 days the appropriate time. . .?

Exactly. Again from Ben Rhodes (who appears to be minding the store), a couple days ago:

"On the president-elect, the first thing I'd just say is that there's one president at a time. President Obama is the president of the United States until Jan. 20, and we are taking this action, of course, as U.S. policy."
Hey Ben, if the use-by date is measured in days, it ain't policy. I have milk products in the fridge that'll last longer.

Was listening to Dennis Prager's guest host today for a few moments. It was #NeverTrumper Ben Shapiro. He was ranting about Israel being stabbed in the back by the Dem's, but I had to instantly turn him off.

During the Election, Ben, how exactly did you express your concern for Israel? When I heard you explaining your #NeverTrumpism you kept damning Trump as a potential reincarnation of Adolf Hitler over and over and over again. Who do you think your words helped paint as "Anti-Semitic", implacable Israel hater Barrack Obama, or Donald Trump? Seriously. Do you think your message helped defeat Obama and his chosen successor, or helped enable them? Just asking simple questions, Ben, the same simple questions Dennis Prager so politely and decently asked of you over and over and over again during the Election, yet all you could come up with in reply was that Trump was a possible new Hitler. Well I'm sure you've got a clean conscious about voting and can sleep well about that, but I can't stand to hear a single word coming out of your mouth any more.

Get off my radio, Moron.

Hear, hear, daddy!!!

I've cut back or completely eliminated many media Nevers this year.

Dave (in MA),

That list of The 16 Most Annoying People of 2016 was great fun! Unexpected and unexpectedly refreshing! Very enjoyable. Many thanks!

Don't know if that means I'm in "good" company slamming Ben Shapiro, but at least I'm in company:)

From the preface: When choosing my finalists for 2016, fame was not a consideration...My selections are rated in escalating levels of annoyance. Nonwhites are cut some slack because they don’t know any better, while white ethnomasochists get top billing.

Loved how they hammered folks all over the spectrum, and loved the well deserved Kevin Williamson (Number 12) closing slam: As the election proved, America’s white working class is very much alive. It is National Review that deserves to die.

The 16 Most Annoying People of 2016

Captain Hate,

"self-important smirking turd, Bill Kristol" comes in at number 7, just edging out Michelle Fields:

FWIW, of the 16, I only knew 5 immediately, 3 others I recognized the names of but had to google a pic in order to place, and the other 8 I was unaware of. I knew 12, 10, 9, 8, and 7. How about you guys?

I'd only heard of 5, daddy.. Not up on things at all :-)

High School Basketball is in full swing up here, so today we kicked off the "Rally The Regions" Basketball Tourney, where we bring into Anchorage the teams from the tiny Village schools and they have their round robin.

"This year's tournament, dubbed, "A village basketball tournament in Alaska's biggest village," features 16 teams — eight boys and eight girls teams — from eight mostly 2A schools in action over four days at Begich Middle School."

Sadly my fav's, the Lady Halfbreeds of Aniak
got pounded by the Bristol Bay Angels, 65 to 50, But the Aniak boys did proud by winning a thriller 69-66 over the Angel men. Tomorrow both Aniak teams take on tough Metlakatla Chiefs squads.

Go Aniak! Woot, woot, woot!

What does "I knew Australia was a settler state," mean?

Miss Marple the Deplorable

I knew 9 of the people. This proves I spend too much time on the internet.

I was very glad to see Shapiro, Fields, and Kristol get on that list.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Yeah, that'll work. Another screeching old lady.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Janet will love this.

Apparently Indianapolis is waiting on $75 million to construct a rapid bus line with electric buses and fancy stations and dedicated traffic lanes.

As one person in the article says, rather than tearing stuff up to build stations and stuff, why not just buy more buses and hire more drivers?

Miss Marple the Deplorable

That he attributes any level of good judgement whatsoever to the current PUTOS is amusing.

That's diplo-speak. The meaning is "We know Trump won't be an idiot."

From the "Gonna Hafta Burn Off That Wart It Ain't Goin' Away On Its Own" file:

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Yesterday Trump tweeted this out, along with "Thanks Donald" which was a bait for the press and also mockery of the "Thanks Obama" hashtag that the dems have been using.

I doubt this would have been a story otherwise, except maybe on Fox. But sure enough, a lot of outlets covered it with "Can you believe he thanked himself?"

I can't think of any other explanation for the increased consumer confidence (especially such a big jump) EXCEPT Trump's election.

Free James D!

Re the list of the 16 most annoying people of 2016:

Narrowing it down to only 16 must have been a Herculean task. I don't know that I could have managed it.

As one person in the article says, rather than tearing stuff up to build stations and stuff, why not just buy more buses and hire more drivers?

Midwestern common sense strikes again.

But since 10% is likely going in a handful of pockets, I expect lots of "tearing stuff up" in Indy.

Free James D!

Insty's quoting Althouse, who actually said something sensible:

The experts got blindsided by what happened on Election Day, so why should we care how they try to explain it now?

She goes on to add:

“It’s been established that you don’t know what you’re talking about. Your game is a fraud."

I suppose it would be mean-spirited, on a day when she actually does get something right, to suggest that she ponder her words and consider whether they might apply to her own writing and opinions.

Related to MM's 7:31 - http://dcist.com/2016/12/trust_women_signs_go_up_in_mike_pen.php

"With a Republican-dominated legislature, expect to see continued blocks on budget autonomy, marijuana regulations, local spending for abortion, and needle exchanges, along with renewed moves to roll back the city's non-discrimination and gun laws. The latest GOP platform explicitly rejected statehood."

marijuana, abortion, & needle exchanges....what a depressing agenda. :(

Why didn't the Dems do everything DC libs wanted back in 2009? They had the House, the Senate & the Presidency. They could have done absolutely ANYTHING.

As my staff will tell you,” Reid said to me when we spoke the next day, “I’ve done a number of things because no one else will do it. I’ve done stuff no one else will do.” I expected him to give an example of a successful parliamentary maneuver or perhaps a brave political endorsement, but instead he mentioned one of the most disreputable episodes of his long career, when, during the 2012 presidential campaign, he falsely accused Mitt Romney of not having paid his taxes. (Even though the facts were wrong, the accusation spurred Romney to release his tax returns, which showed he had only paid 14.1 percent.) “I tried to get everybody to do that. I didn’t want to do that,” Reid said. “I didn’t have anything against him personally. He’s a fellow Mormon, nice guy. I went to everybody. But no one would do it. So I did it.”

What would cause the flaps not to work?

They are driven by an electric motor, so something as simple as a blown fuse or circuit breaker.

More likely, they simply forgot to extend them for takeoff. Flaps increase the lift of the wing in slow flight.

In a fast plane like a jet, they are critical during takeoff, as the wing doesn't create the needed lift to climb during slower flight, say 150 mph instead of 500 mph.

An attempt to force the aircraft to climb will often result in a stall, which means the wing quits creating lift altogether. That's when you fall out of the sky.

Pilots spend a lot of time learning to recover from a stall, however if it takes 1000' to recover from one and you are 500' above the ground, well, the math just doesn't work out.

Moore demonstrates ProgEmoCrats ready to commit political sepuku.

"Moore added Democrats needed fresh leadership after losing to Trump, pointing to Democratic National Committee (DNC) chairman candidate Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) as a good starting point.

“Here’s what the old guard gave us: TWICE in 16 years the Democratic candidate WON the vote for president but LOST the White House,” he said. "Incredible! This has got to stop!”

“[Ellison] is the future and everyone else is the past,” Moore added. "He will fight to turn this around and, as a son of the Midwest, bring that part of the country back from the dark side.”

How will all of the "activism" be paid for now that the astroturf funding sources are no longer viable? Gone are the porkulus funds (What? No shovel ready programs?!?!?! Oh! You meant a different kind of shovel....got it!), the Balloona Clintoona Foundation, Inc. funds from Camel Jockeys United, and $6 billion in State Department cash.

James D.

Janet, to expand on the DC nonsense, the legislative agenda of the city is:

Encouragement and facilitation of drug addiction

Destruction of jobs, and especially low-wage entry level jobs

Denying citizens the tools to defend themselves

Killing of the disabled and elderly

This is what the Democrat Party and the progs have to offer:

Death, drug addiction, unemployment, and more death.

And they wonder why they lost.

Well, I have just two episodes left of Westworld. I'll watch those tonight. Thandie Newton's character, Maeve, is wreaking havoc.

Nassim Nicholas Taleb has another very interesting read, peeling the onion a bit on discussions of inequality:

and within that piece (it's an excerpt from what I believe is a yet-to-be-published book he has written, Skin in the Game) is a fantastic cite to an article by a professor (Joan C. Williams) at the Hastings College of Law in San Francisco. She wrote it (What So Many People Don’t Get About the U.S. Working Class) for the Harvard Business Review:

Both are well worth a read today.

Great link, KK.

As an author, I can relate to the argument about envy there.

I don't envy J.K. Rowling or Stephen King. But I do envy (actually, despise is probably a better word) the "50 Shades of Gray" woman and Stephenie Meyer ("Twilight"), to name two.

And it's for exactly the reason in the article. From where I sit, Rowling and King are totally deserving of their fame and wealth, and they've earned that by being able to touch readers in a way that I can't begin to approach.

Meyer and her Shades of Gray compatriot, on the other hand, I see as totally undeserving. Their books are objectively terribly written, and on top of that, they carry incredibly toxic and damaging messages that are eaten up (especially in the case of Twilight) by teenage girls. I view their huge success as entirely based on luck (and cynical dishonesty and a willingness to poison minds).

Roger that henry.

It will take a while to plug all the holes in the dike.

Nevertheless, I would be selling your "community organizer" stock short.

A few what ifs for Mike Moore and the other "leaders" of the resistance to POTUS Trump...

1. What if there were 25 million ProgEmoCrats FEWER than you are assuming voted against the PEOTUS?

1a. 10 million illegal Mexican squatters (5m in Western States Oregon, WA, and California)

1b. 5 million illegal Mexican squatters (5m in Southwestern States TX, NM, AZ, CO, UT).

1c. 10 million *DECEASED* Americans across 50 US states.

1d. 10 million illegal Mexican squatters are targeted and deported along with any offspring squeezed out on American soil (let's say another 3 million "dreamers").

1e. If the core of the resistance estimated by demagogue's like Mikey Moore has that number at around 75 million Americans, but it is actually around 50 million Americans--- what happens to the assumption Moore makes: "There are more of us than there are of you?"

I'd hate to be a battlefield general working under orders from HQ that was off by 33% re our troop strength, wouldn't you?

2. The leading 40 sanctuary cities in the USA end their illegal policies of diverting public funds that were appropriated to them to enforce immigration laws.

2a. Funds are redirected back into legally designated funding areas for immigration enforcement and away from providing material support and legal services to "migrant communities".

2b. Non-profit agencies using federally sourced (state acts as a flow through) revenue to build political constituencies STOPS; constituencies stop receiving largesse and outright payola to vote EmoCrat.

2c. Non-profit agencies and NGO payrolls dry up reducing the number of paid "organizers" who are engaged in social engineering activities using taxpayer dollars to not only support them but to grant them significant pension plans complete with health benefits (hint: not Obamacare).

2d. Long-time agency, ngo, non-profit heads who've been around building this aspect of the ProgEmoCrat machine since Clinton 1 took office 1992-----> fired, defunded, or prosecuted for misappropriation of funds. Gone.

This could account for approximately 150,000 politically connected ProgEmoCrat voters who have to scramble to fund their retirements and can no longer function as full-time organizers on state payrolls and soft-money grant pipeline funds such as the Ford Foundation, John and Catherine MacArthure Foundation, Terayza Heinz Kerry's Tides Foundation, the George Soros Funding Network, etc etc etc....

Bottom line: this army of resistance is not ready to go to war. And if the new Department of Justice does any digging at all into the violation of non-profit 501 c 3 organizations who have violated their charters by engaging in "social justice organizing" and "leadership development" (code for "Lobbying"), the taxpayer and charitable contributions boondoggles of the past 35 years will come to a screeching halt.

Money is the lube that greases the wheels of political activity be it Left or Right.

It is perhaps the biggest reason for all the screaming, wailing, and gnashing of teeth by the American political Left.

"But there is a downside, and it isn’t trivial. A pardon must be accepted by the person who is pardoned if it is to effectively stymie any prosecution.

Furthermore, there is solid legal precedent that acceptance of a pardon is equivalent to confession of guilt. A U.S. Supreme Court case from 1915 called Burdick v. U.S. establishes that principle; it has never been overturned.

It should be statutorily illegal for the Feds to dole out any settlements, fines or penalties to private entities of any kind. If there are actual private victims they should be reimbursed. If there is anything left over it should go to the general fund.
They are presently just slush funds for progs.
It would be just as bad were it going to "faith based" orgs.
Government should fund nothing but its own services.
They should also end the relator policy whereby someone who Sue's the Feds has their lawyer fees paid almost always without going to trial. It's the definition of collusion.

I have a hard time getting excited about the personality stuff. The election is over, and there are some fairly obvious issues in front of the country.

Speaking of which, this is a bit disconcerting:

How Trump got yanked into GOP's IRS impeachment fight
John Koskinen's ouster was voted down after multiple conversations among Reince Priebus, the Freedom Caucus and House leaders. [. . .]
GOP leaders say Priebus remained opposed to Koskinen's impeachment. Freedom Caucus sources counter that Priebus called them back several times to retract any such opposition and say Trump's inner circle would remain neutral.
That's three weeks gone, though it sailed mostly under the radar, and the impeachment was sent back to committee. Yesterday, TaxProf confirmed (The IRS Scandal, Day 1328: House's Referral Back To Judiciary Committee Is Likely To Kill Koskinen Impeachment) the move was to let it die slowly. There are multiple stories and links at TaxProf (including this one) that claim varying transition team input for various reasons; like Bannion for, and Priebus against. And then this last week:
President-elect Donald Trump’s spokesman Jason Miller says Trump hasn’t decided yet whether to name a new IRS commissioner or keep current John Koskinen on for the rest of his term, which continues after President Obama leaves the White House next month.
I don't know what's actually going on or why. PE Trump may consider this a distraction, or a conflict of interest due to his audit, or he may in fact just be neutral. But there are a lot of conflicting claims citing the transition team, and at best there's a muddled message. And if he's protecting him because he's a friend, as has been implied in some of the reporting, that's a problem.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

HA! Ms. Fields is hopefully headed to a night-clerk position at Wal-Mart.

More likely, they simply forgot to extend them for takeoff. Flaps increase the lift of the wing in slow flight.

What Buckeye said. Flaps are essential for takeoff. Most commercial aircraft have a warning horn to ensure they're set properly:

TOWS is designed to sound a warning for numerous other dangerous errors in the take-off configuration, such as the flaps and slats not being extended when the throttles are opened while the aircraft is on the ground.
And every takeoff checklist I'm aware of has "flaps" as an item (in a B757/767, it's the only item). So if it's a failure, it's either reading improperly in the cockpit, or they failed to do the checklist, and the horn is either not installed or not working, or ignored.

Odds on favorite for all that stuff is improperly set and not checked, and horn ignored if installed. (And if you think it can't happen, you'd be wrong.) No idea if the Tu-154 has a warning system, but I wouldn't get on one, and I used to fly Harriers (i.e., don't scare easily).

MM - I love that tweet from Trump!!!! So glad he's calling Obama out. Today should be very interesting. I heard on Fox & Friends that Steny Hoyer is asking Kerry to scuttle his speech.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Texas Liberty Gal,

AHA! Hoyer asking for that means he knows this will cause an anti-dem backlash, especially now that Egypt dropped that bomb last night about transcripts of Kerry colluding with the Palestinian Authority (which I believe is some sort of treaty violation).

Sisi is not to be messed with. I am pretty sure he has damaging information about Obama and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Cecil Turner

I think Koskinen should be impeached (and jailed, for that matter, along with his little girlfriend). But I can understand the optics of that with an ongoing audit, and it would in fact be a distraction. So maybe that's too hard. Okay, fine.

Keeping him on: not fine.

There are some people who think he is going to suggest (telegraphed by Jimmy Carter) a return to pre-1967 boundaries, which are darn near indefensible for Israel.

There is a law on the books which prohibits funding for the UN if they do that, but the thinking is that they will suggest "beginning the process" so as to weasel out of losing the funding and then drop the whole mess into Trump's lap.

I prefer Kerry sit down and shut up.
