our country dealt with Obama and will survive him.

Survive, so it seems, but in what shape? His Petulance and Angry Spouse have shredded the fabric that unifies the country, and the MSM, with their relentless assaults on Trump's legitimacy, are continuing the work.

Trump and at least 50 senators are going to have to be relentless and single-minded in pushing ahead against all this. I don't doubt Trump, but we'll see whether he can actually inject some spinal fluid into the Rs in Congress.

From WaEx link above: "[Ben] Rhodes also said of Israel, "I believe that despite what has at times been very strident Israeli government criticism of U.S. policies that President Obama has always made Israel and its security sacrosanct in his approach to these issues."

Nothing says "sacrosanct" like "very strident".

Nothing says "sacrosanct" like "very strident".

I read somewhere a quote from the administration that in opposing Israel they only have Israel's best interest in mind. Typical leftist mindset: We know what's best for you, and you're going to get it good and hard.

Rhodes is a knave, he shouldn't have been anywhere near policy than the Starbucks on Pennsylvania avenue.

Momto2, if you check in:

We all kind of fell for Chris Pratt who hung around our little town and mingled and posed for pictures and seems an all-around nice guy.

Chris apparently live out here on our rock pile. I've not seen him (wouldn't recognize him at this point anyway), but I get nothing but rave reviews like yours. Hope his growing stardom doesn't ruin that.

I liked him in guardian and jurassic world, this last project might be a misstep.

It's hard to decide BOzo's 10 worst decisions, but I'd put abandoning Mubarak to the mobs near the top. The only reason I see is his obvious hatred of Israel nurtured during 20 yrs. at the knee of committed antisemite Jeremiah Wright.

I will never forget when Mubarak fell. I was in London and an Egyptian desk clerk asked me how they could ever trust the United States again.

I have never forgotten the look on his face.

Calling all presidential historians (@BeschlossDC): has any other president-elect thrown down so many gauntlets before his inauguration?

Now all the lefty press will break out in a chorus of "Tradition" from Fiddler on the Roof.

Look at how they are trying to organize their criticism, right out in plain sight.

Despicable people!

No thanks to Zippy and ValJar, who favored the MB.

Hmm, a kid's book adults might like.

Oh, boy, Susan J. Crockford has a polar bear book suitable for ages 7 and up, 40 pages long. Watts Up features it now.

Looks pretty adult, to me.

has any other president-elect thrown down so many gauntlets before his inauguration?

Better question: Has any other president-elect had to deal with a less gracious and more obstinate and small-minded predecessor, along with an entirely hostile media?

BOzo throwing down the uber-gauntlet.

henry - drunk on prog tears

As I recall, Bozo was a walking gauntlet toss before and during his presidency. The difference was he tossed gauntlets the press liked.

The question might be better phrased who would the European army be employed against.

MM, they're responding to all of that rather evident leadership "from the front" variety. Yep, yep -- they skeered! And they should be.

For a period of years I used to sign my eMails in this fashion:

Patience. Preparation. Perseverance.
Attention to Detail. Flexibility. Resiliency.

Never think that God's delays are God's denials.
Hold on; hold fast; hold out. Patience is genius.

This was primarily for my benefit; a reminder to myself to do what I could, when I could, and to use the intellect I was endowed with by my Creator but, ultimately, to let go and let God.

Merry Christmas, y'all. Even in the midst of the struggle, we are blessed and highly favored and I am thankful for so much, including this online outlet.

James D.

Rhodes is a knave

Rhodes is FAR worse than that. He's complicit in helping Iran get closer to obtaining the weapons to start a second Holocaust. In a sane world, he'd hang just like the defendants at Nuremberg.

Captain Hate

Welp Zippy was unable to close Gitmo.

Cecil Turner

IMHO, Rhodes's best moment is still: "To underscore that these protests are rooted in an Internet video, and not a broader failure of policy."

Which was then touted by our current NSA.

These traitorous moral midgets can't leave soon enough (and we'll need to inventory the silverware afterward).

This at Insty is true - “For Donald Trump, meet your State Department. This is what State’s permanent bureaucrats believe, this is what they want, and Barack Obama delivered it to them.”

Obama has let the far left kooks run wild...while the MFM cheered them on.

No thought to the consequences for America, American citizens or our allies.
What a disgrace.

His national security team isn't concerned with OUR nation or OUR security.
The Dept. of Homeland security under Obama isn't concerned with OUR homeland (do they even recognize our homeland?) or OUR security.
The State Dept. has been about helping foreign countries screw America....while Hillary as SoS worked for the Clinton Foundation.

Good post at Althouse quoting Dr. K on the UN.

The Jewish quarter has been populated by Jews for 1,000 years. In the war of Independence in 1948, the Arabs invaded Israel to wipe it out. They did not succeed, but the Arab Legion succeeded in conquering the Jewish quarter. They expelled all the Jews. They destroyed all the synagogues and all the homes. For 19 years, no Jew could go there. The Israelis got it back in the Six-Day War. Now it’s declared that this is not Jewish territory. Remember, it’s called 'the Jewish quarter,' but it belongs to other people. And any Jew who lives there is an outlaw. That’s exactly what we supported. The resolution is explicit in saying settlements in the occupied territories and in east Jerusalem.

Is there any doubt that this was introduced at the UN precisely because Hillary lost the election, and Obama is now a lame duck? They knew he was always waiting for a chance to screw Israel, but had his hands tied until November 8th.

Lest we forget.

Obama betrayed Iraq during the transition with his signals about the status of forces agreement.

Never think that God's delays are God's denials.

A wonderful reminder for believers.

Did ya'll know about this? About National Review - Kevin Williamson. Unbelievable.

"Mr. Williamson then writes the following (emphasis mine)

I suppose that by now regular readers of National Review will have figured out that my sympathy for the Trumps is . . . limited. My own view is that Donald and Ivanka and Uday and Qusay are genuinely bad human beings and that the American public has made a grave error in entrusting its highest office to this cast of American Psycho extras. That a major political party was captured by these cretins suggests that its members are not worthy of the blessings of this republic. But here we are."

more from the Am. Thinker link - "I have stood at the side of a mass grave, seen the bodies and smelled the horrific odor of victims of Saddam, Uday and Qusay. Mr. Williamson's comparison of the Trump family to the likes of the Husseins is so far beyond the pale as to defy description.

The senior management of National Review should formally and publicly admonish Mr. Williamson and apologize to the Trumps."

The most instructive thing about Obama's Security Council abstention is he didn't have the guts to do it earlier, when he stood to lose something by doing it. Only after he calculated there was nothing more to squeeze from that particular quarter did he run up the Jolly Roger. Had it cost him it would have meant something, even as a gesture.

But even more interesting was his willingness to damage the Democratic party who he's leaving with political bill, not to mention the fact that the policy his abstention represents makes little sense.

Israel is likely to emerge as a linchpin in the region, after Obama's power vacuum bomb reduces the nearby countries to waste. If Turkey and Iran fall apart, which is not inconceivable, then Obama will have antagonized the last man standing.

It was bad timing and pointless, like a punch thrown by a fighter lying on the canvas -- at the referee. That would leave his legacy a consistently dysfunctional whole: conceived in delusion, executed in incompetence.

Janet, we aren't worthy enough to understand his uber doucheness. We therefore are not worthy of the blessings of the republic. Kevin Doucheson can kiss my hairy Yale grad ass.

But we have Trump and a Merry Christmas. :)

Williamson joins David Frum as the most pathetic and unrepentant #NeverTrumper "conservatives." Too proud to admit they were wrong, just digging deeper.

One of the most perfect, scandal free Presidential administrations is coming to a close. President Obama, the President who saved the United States economy from slipping further into a great depression, who saved the auto-industry, who slaughtered Osama bin Laden where he stood, who created 15 million new jobs and dragged the stock market from near collapse to being on the verge of breaking 20,000(thanks President Obama) ,reduced the federal deficit by two thirds......reducing the deficit by even a fraction is something that no Republican President has ever been in the history of the country, provided healthcare for over 20 million human beings.....20 million human beings......this man
will go down as one of the greatest Presidents of all time.

henry - drunk on prog tears

A fairy tale told by a fairy.

Correction, he is a President that goes down?

James D.

Does NR not have editors?

I mean, is there no one there to review Williamson's column and suggest to him that, just maybe, likening Donald Trump AND his daughter to the murderous sons of Saddam Hussein is a tiny bit over the top and that his point could just possibly be made without that comment?

Apparnetly not.

Merry Christmas Eve ya'll!

I agree with you Man Tran in hoping Chris Pratt keeps his feet on the ground and his priorities in order. It's a tall order for most with that level of success, I'm sure. He brought his family to Ga. so he would be near them during shooting.

I'm spending time in the kitchen today. Our traditional Christmas morning fare includes homemade biscuits with sausage and homemade orange rolls. We always get fresh Tenn. sausage but this year it has been too warm to slaughter so we are having to resort to sausage from Fresh Market. My connoisseur guys are skeptical but I say, once it's inside a big old homemade biscuit, they'll like it just fine.

Congratulations to Gus on your brother's wonderful appointment. I'm glad you'll be able to see him more often. And congratulations to Rocco's son! Wow, just thinking that two families will have a drastically different Christmas and future because of him.

daddy - your descriptions of flying in the weather were so interesting. I was thinking of the things we can see and experience. As a history buff have you ever thought of those who came before whose feet never left the ground? Think what they would give to spend one minute up there looking out of your cockpit window. It applies to so many things - one generation's wonder of wonders quickly becomes so common to the next.

We re-watched Home Alone and I thought in today's world the story line would not have worked because of cell phones. Remember the family could not contact him because the phone lines were "down".
It doesn't seem that long ago that they made that quickly our world changes.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

I remain unconvinced that Kevin Williamson is a nice person in any way, shape, manner or form.

He should be terminated.

And where is Lowry to allow that to be published?

Once again, I continue my boycott which started last year. They will never get a nickle from me nor a page view.

Does anyone know where the Washington DC gun control nuts have disappeared to?

They are nowhere to be found on the Comet Ping Pong "gunman" story!

New thread.

Williamson is a cog in in a very big NR wheel. Maybe being a nutjob is an intentional gambit to stand out from the herd.

That wiki entry lists “notable” NR contributors. That’s presumptuous. Who decides notability?

Besides, being “notable” doesn’t make them quotable.

Gus have you seen the video of Tillerson talking about how he owed all his success to what he learned as a Boy Scout?

He is a very good speaker and his telling of his lifelong participation in the Scouting movement is inspiring and interesting.

That video was all I had to see and hear about him to know that he is the right stuff for the right job. I'm sure your brother's experience serving such an individual will be very rewarding and satisfying.

matt, deplore me if you must

Merry Christmas Eve to all. I will not wish ill upon anyone tonight. I'll anything for after Obama gets back from his multi-million dollar holiday.

To all of you, be of good cheer and let's work towards a better tomorrow for all.

Captain Hate,

You are right. It's a shame.
