Something peculiah is going on with the NBA All-Star fan voting:
The NBA released the first round of fan-voting results for the 2017 All-Star Game starters on Thursday, giving an early look at which players may be headed to New Orleans next month.
Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James and Kyrie Irving received the most overall votes, while Golden State Warriors' Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry lead all Western Conference players. The biggest surprise on the list is the Warriors' Zaza Pachulia, who earned the second-most votes of all West frontcourt players despite averaging just 5.2 points and 5.8 rebounds in 17.7 minutes.
Pachulia is a journeyman center from the Republic of Georgia, where support for him is strong and internet access if easy. Last year he nearly got pushed onto the All-Star stage but the rules have been changed to keep him off.
No word from the Washington intel commuity on Putin's role, but these dots are easy to connect. Discredit the All-Star game, discredit America!
The Red Scare lives!!!

Hey! Captain Hate will remember (I hope) that I was laughed at on the Horde for this theory, which I proposed over 3 years ago:
"Admiral James 'Ace' Lyons told the group that he believes the raid on the Benghazi compound was intended as a kidnapping exercise, aimed at snatching U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and demanding a prisoner swap for the 'blind sheikh' Omar Abdel-Rahman.
Abdel-Rahman is serving a life sentence in federal prison for planning the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center garage in New York City. He also masterminded a plan, later foiled, to blow up the United Nations, both the Lincoln and Holland tunnels, the George Washington Bridge and a federal building where the FBI had a base of operations.
A senior FBI source, Lyons said Tuesday, 'told me that was the plan.'
The attack, history shows, grew in intensity and resulted in the deaths of Stevens and three other U.S. personnel."
From this article:

Already posted? Sorry!
http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2017/01/dems_may_regret_leak_of_topsecret_report_on_russia_to_nbc_.html
The Democrat-Media Complex has gone all in on the propaganda campaign to convince Americans that Donald Trumpâs election is illegitimate because âRussia hacked the election.â
----------------
But they may have made a fatal overstep with the release of the top-secret report on Russian influence to NBC News.
It is a crime to share top-secret information with people who do not have the requisite security clearance.
-----------
REPORTER: âJust to button that up, youâre ruling out that the White House leaked that information to NBC, but youâre not ruling out that another â that an agency thatâs part of the intelligence community or another federal agency might have done so?â
EARNEST: âI canât speak to the inner workings of the intelligence community, particularly as it relates to the compiling of the specific report. The intelligence community was charged by the President of the United States with compiling a report. And as weâve discussed at some length over the last couple of months here, the men and women of the United States intelligence community are patriots. And these are people who serve their country. They set aside their own personal political views to do the right thing for the country. So the President has got enormous confidence in them, believes that heâs been extraordinarily well served by them over the last eight years in providing to him timely, accurate, specific information that was not shaded to advance a political or ideological agenda, but rather was oriented toward providing him the best possible information so he could make the best possible national security decisions. But for questions about how the intelligence community has handled specific pieces of information, you should go talk to them about that.â
I think the headline is: âObama spokesman refuses to deny that top-secret report was leaked from White House.â

NBC evening news yesterday, Friday, Jan. 6:
" A senior U.S. intelligence official with direct knowledge confirmed to NBC News that the report on Russian hacking delivered to President Obama Thursday says that U.S. intelligence picked up senior Russian officials celebrating Donald Trump's win. ... The U.S. has also identified Russian actors who turned over stolen Democratic material to WikiLeaks, the source told NBC News Thursday"
Wow. BOzo wasn't even clever enough to wait for a semblance of plausible deniability.

fentanyl
Funny you should mention that. I'm considering starting a project to distinguish fentanyl from heroin from poppy seeds from cough syrup. Currently the diagnostic tests are pretty awful, and I think we have the technology to do it.
The downside is that this is an incredibly regulated area, materials are hard to come by, and we'd have to be really careful when we work with it (it is terribly potent).
But there sure is a market for the test.
FWIW, last week I submitted the first proposal of two on a new breast cancer diagnostic. It is a good proposal, but it is terribly competitive these days. The CRs don't help.

TK, I am glad you're feeling better. Hope they solve the mystery soon.
OT, speaking of mysteries, I've been deeply immersed in the British post-war mysteries of Michael Gilbert. Some are very masculine and deal with espionage and organized crime; the later ones are more traditionally cozy. He seems conservative in outlook. I detect influences of Dorothy Sayers, Helen MacInnes, and Josephine Tey.
He is a wine and dog lover, as well. There is a prominent dog character in the collections of short stories about the middle aged special agents, Mr Calder and Mr Behrens.
It is such a relief to be able to enjoy regular reading habits again now that the election anxiety has lifted. I swear I haven't enjoyed a novel properly in several years.

From that Federalist link on OCare repeal/replace:
"It is worth reiterating that the replacement plan doesnât have to be conceptually or functionally similar to Obamacare, no matter how often the Paul Krugmans of the world demand it. The comprehensiveness and rigidity of Obamacare are things to avoid. So replacement plans can be passed piecemeal."
And repeal can have a fuse attached so it blows that pile of shitake to smithereens once people have a chance to catch their breath over premium shock.
Yes, we will get sick of "winning."

maryrose, Crennell, in addition to not having much to work with here (although came closest to getting the team in the playoffs), is a much better defensive coordinator than head coach; just like Wade Phillips. Taking the step from offensive or defensive coordinator to head coach is a big one and isn't for everybody. I'm hoping that Haslem has the right people in the front office for talent evaluation because this draft will be huge for the team to improve because there are still a lot of holes to fill

It's kind of funny when you think about it but progs simultaneously believe the world can be placed in some ideal stasis from the past and that history is on an inevitable deterministic course, neither of which is true. Meanwhile they think immutable human nature is limitlessly malleable which is also false. But holding all those falsehoods as their catechism makes them a potent political force.
Meanwhile mainstream republicans understand human nature is essentially unchangeable and that history is not an already written script and that the earth is in constant natural flux much of it quite inhospitable to our survival. But they have so acquiesced to the prog narrative they are rendered helpless politically.
The mushy reps are very similar to the citizens in totalitarian countries who are forced to accept the obvious, humiliating lies of the propaganda organs, except mushy reps don't need a gun or a gulag to cow them; mere social pressure, shaming and name calling are enough.
Let's hope those days of childish fears and manipulations are finally behind us.

I had early voted, so went over to my sisters because I was upset. Drove home actually in tears and prayed like I hadn't prayed in years.
Steeled myself to watch the returns because I felt like it would be disloyal not to stick ith him if he lost. As the evening went on, it was like some sort of magic was happeningg.
I managed to stay up for the whole thing. My son called me from a bartending job and was darn near hysterical with glee when Wisconsin was called. My grandson was calling his dad at the bar and then me, because he was so overjoyed.
And I still think Franklin Graham was right: God intervened.

That was a great article, DebinNC!!
I had to laugh at Hewitt saying that no one predicted the Trump victory. Several of us here at JOM did. And, speaking for myself, it wasn't from emotion - it was from assessing the swing state polls and adjusting for turnout.
Those polls ran from +4 to +6 for the Dems, but that wasn't realistic. The passion from the left was mostly Bernie, and they weren't going to be motivated to vote en masse for Hillary while they were still freshly angry over the super-delegate situation. There was still a degree of 'historic first woman' voting to be had, but she did little to bolster her claim to the title.
The passion on the right was on Trump's side, but there were enough rumbles on the Rep side to recognize that it wouldn't be a complete tsunami for him, either. NeverTrumpers would ensure top-of-the-ticket undervotes or defections to McMullin or Johnson.
Furthermore, both candidates were successfully demonized to the point of voting against the other - not a recipe for massive turnout, but probably a wash as to whether it impacted one candidate more than the other.
Considering the above, I adjusted the swing state polls down to a range of D+1 to +3 and ended up with 310 EV for Trump - and only missed New Hampshire, which was extremely close.
Hugh should recognize that he's as susceptible to the prog narrative as anyone else that close to the lefty bubble. Maybe he needs to read (and comment) at JOM more often. :)

why did these geniuses think Hillary canned her planned fireworks show? My guess is her internal polls showed it was far more iffy than the polls the broadcasters were relying on.

Beasts,
I still remember Dana Perino saying that rallies didn't mean anything, and she just didn't want trump supporters to be broken-hearted.
I get mad whenever I think of that.
One or two rallies at the end of a campaign do not equal daily rallies for months.
So much bad reporting even from people who I thought were on our side!
Glad I cancelled cable!

Unless it happens to hurt Barry's brackets or helps America's standing in the world, it's all good.

I'm just still in a happy euphoria about the election. :::confession::: I still go sometimes and re-watch those YouTube compilations of election night and compilations of "Trump will never be President" videos. It makes my heart sing. Yes, I know, I know he isn't God and he is fallible and will disappoint us in some ways. BUT we certainly dodged a bullet with Hillary and I am *so* grateful. I agree with you MM that many were praying and God had mercy on our country.
If the MSM thinks on Jan. 20th they can go on and on about the Russians they are really pathetic. Most people are happy, optimistic and want to go forward. Those that don't can go sit in the corner!

My prediction in February of a Trump victory was based solely on the enthusiasm of his rallies, Miss Marple. And, yes, the continuous yuge turnout at his rallies convinced me - when I made a final 'scientific' analysis - that it would hold. Had his rally attendance ever subsided, I'd have never predicted a win...

I'm with you, Momto2 - I haven't stopped smiling since election night. I also agree that he will likely do some things that I hate, but that's always true. I don't expect him to completely reverse eight years of stupidity, but he prevented four to eight years more of it.
