Double phooey! If I were the deep bureaucracy, I would not like to see a Trump willing to take out a close advisor instantly, not because he was a security risk, but because he lied to the boss.
Trump showed he is focused on cleaning out the swamp. Period.
If I were in the intel communities, and had my own agenda that did not align with Trump, I would be looking for a job outside of government.
If I were a bureaucratic source for the press, and did not use whistleblower channels to report known malfeasance, I would think seriously about early retirement.
Trump and Pence have just shown that they are going get the job done and will put forward as many soldiers as needed to replace those that get shot down.
I want to know who gave permission to listen into Flynn's phone calls. He was a private citizen. I believe that has to come from the top. And why is no one asking.

I was surprised, henry, by the Yale's Prez's justification for keeping the name Yale and abandoning Calhoun College, namely, that Mr. Yale had a closer connection to Yale than Mr. Calhoun by reason of giving money to start Yale College. My memory is Mr. Yale made money from the slave trade. Thus, Yale's Prez seems to be putting his imprimatur on keeping a name as long as slave money was involved in the institution. This would also apply to Brown University, which as far as I know is not changing its name despite the association with the slave trade.
Perhaps Yale University should change its name to Rigoberta Menchu University, and Brown University should change its name to Margaret Sanger University.
Of course, the more cynical among us would say that Yale and Brown would lose too many donations if a name change were effected, so PC virtue signaling must be accomplished in other ways.
Not sure I believe this one, but this author makes a case for Steve Bannon as being a minimally effective fool, rather than a scary Machiavelli in a Pepe the Frog kind of way. Putting this link in as informational only:
Really don't have an opinion on this Flynn stuff. I pretty much disbelieve anything has to say about Trump and Russian connections, as it's impossible to separate the hysteria from the little nibbles of fact.
LOL TC, I saw a response by other alumni which pointed out that fact about Eli (as well as his shooting a servant boy in India), plus the fact that Silliman, Edwards etc were all slave holders (very few of the residential college names bear scrutiny on this dimension). Further the note pointed out that even the abolitionists were white supremacists back in the day. The other note on Salovey is he is a total pussy not expunging Calhoun the first pass, but setting a faculty committee of 3 anti-Calhoun extremists to decide on renaming policy.

He had begun talking to me about the Niger papers in March, when I first wrote about the forgery, and said, “Somebody deliberately let something false get in there.” He became more forthcoming in subsequent months, eventually saying that a small group of disgruntled retired C.I.A. clandestine operators had banded together in the late summer of last year and drafted the fraudulent documents themselves.
“The agency guys were so pissed at Cheney,” the former officer said. “They said, ‘O.K, we’re going to put the bite on these guys.’ “ My source said that he was first told of the fabrication late last year, at one of the many holiday gatherings in the Washington area of past and present C.I.A. officials. “Everyone was bragging about it—‘Here’s what we did. It was cool, cool, cool.’ “ These retirees, he said, had superb contacts among current officers in the agency and were informed in detail of the sismi intelligence.

Jane - conversations with foreign nationals, particularly those from certain countries (e.g. Russia) are as a matter of course, recorded. A conversation with the Russia's Foreign Minister would be a high priority for those whose business is to collect signals. In this case, it was a routine collection operation. What was not routine is for this information to be leaked.

There are clearly moles in the WH, Justice and the FBI.
Rush reads the news of Lindsay Graham and Richard Burr and everybody else saying we need to have a Senate Investigation as to "What did the President know and when did he know it?"
Then Rush asks the question of consequence:
Does any of this change your confidence in and your support for Trump?
In my case, not a bit, and I think that'll be the same answer across Red State America. This is another poke in the eye with a sharp stick by the Left and the Lindsay Graham's/John McCain's of the DC establishment. There may actually be benefit in the clarity emerging as to who in DC is the sworn enemy of Trump and the millions of people in America who elected him.

The CIA did not try to bring Bush down. That was part of a disinformation campaign.

From Seymour Hersh, The Stovepipe
"Another explanation was provided by a former senior C.I.A. officer.

I'd like to see General Jack Keane have another meeting with Pence and Trump. I know he turned down an offer earlier because of the death of his wife of 50 years and related family matters, but maybe things have resolved in the following 2 months. would prefer not to have Petraeus in the position.

Director of Central Intelligence Directives provide a framework for further edification, if interested.

Nobody was listening in on Flynn's conversations--they were listening in on the Russian ambassador's conversation, which apparently is SOP spy stuff--"everybody" does it-- and Flynn should have been aware of it.
Typically the US people are redacted when they are transcribed or reported.
If the US person becomes a concern, then gets reported to higher ups, who make the call as to where it goes.
All lots of Deep State intrigue to me--who made these calls, who passed it one, who leaked it---
OR
WAS IT ALL STAGED????? DID FLYNN/TRUMP play the intelligence community??
(yes, I could be losing my mind...)

"I-- want to know who gave permission to listen into Flynn's phone calls. He was a private citizen. I believe that has to come from the top. --"
I believe that link I provided last thread indicated the heroic Sarah Yates, who gained her 15 minutes refusing to defend Trump's immigration EO not long ago, signed off on the spying, Jane.

Sandy,
As I understand it, you are not allowed to record private citizens without prior approval, you are never allowed to reveal their identity, and you sure aren't allowed to leak that stuff.
