My big sister is a U Mich alum so I adopted Tom Brady years ago. Also, if Brady et al win this then lots of youngsters can claim to have seen the GOAT at quarterback. Otherwise, we are harking back to Joe Montana, who could play a bit himself. (Unitas and Graham were before my time, but obviously dominant in their era.)
I think the Edelman Video will surpass the Zapruder Film in viewings by this evening.

CH and Stephanie, I don't think the center of gravity of that game was an Atlanta choke. I think think Pats deserve the credit for the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history. I don't claim in NFL history, because I am not enough of an NFL historian to go back more than 60 years. But that tops any comeback I have seen.

Really enjoyed catching up on this thread when we got home from watching the SuperBowl with our son's family. Especially enjoyed reading the comments about the 1st 3 quarters knowing what happened in the 4th. So glad the Patriots won. And Lady Gaga was awesome! Displayed patriotism, actually said the words "under God" and she gave a shout out to her parents. It was a magnificent production and all the performers were dressed modestly compared to previous SuperBowls. Very fun enjoyable evening.

I was glad to see that the Gagger kept it PG-13 and left the drones outside the stadium.
No Trump statements either.
Game was great. Edelman's catch was clearly a catch.
Had they ruled that the strip sack against Ryan was void because his arm was going forward---- ironic screwing of the Pats who screwed the Raiders with the infamous "Tuck Rule". Led to Brady's first Super Bowl.
Glad it was a sack. I was bettin' on the Pats!

Really enjoyed the presentation of the NFL Hall of Famers who were from historically black colleges.... two Raiders---- Willie Brown and Art Shell. Art Shell was the first African American head coach. Al Davis also hired the first Mexican American head coach who was a Super Bowl winner (2 times)--- Tom Flores. Saw him play his first game as a Raiders QB.
The Raiders logo was up there 3 times during that presentation with Jerry Rice retiring as a Raider. Did a funky dance too. He and Shannon Sharpe were puttin on the moves and the fancy kicks among those older gents.
Classy presentation.
Posted by: Account Deleted | February 06, 2017 at 12:37 AM
ooops they caught an open mike moment there.
I am confident that when James whoever, the announcer, was walking the Silver Super Bowl Trophy football thru the gauntlet of winning players who took turns kissing it, the descriptive term having to do with somebodies mother (Mutha...) was clearly audible at least 4 times on the TV.
I enjoyed watching that bit of exuberant honesty, and it reminded me once again of how big a lie it is that Civil Rights Icon John Lewis and "tell them your a Muslim" Pelosi etc heard shouted "N" words when they walked out of Congress celebrating ObamaCare.
How many Mutha' redacted's did u count?
It al least equaled the number of Howies.

I don't think the center of gravity of that game was an Atlanta choke.
No, you're wrong about this. After Julio Jones's catch, they had a chance to put it away with a field goal but idiot Shanahan had to keep on calling pass plays to prove that he's a genius and idiot Ryan had to get sacked and then, with a holding call on another idiotic pass play, they were out of range. So instead of being up by eleven with less time and/or fewer NE timeouts, they're up by eight with lots of time and NE has all three timeouts.
That is a choke.

Narciso, reading a book this trip on Leo Africanus, Trickster Travels: A Sixteenth-Century Muslim Between Worlds
Odd bits of history but in a time frame you might enjoy if you don't already know the guy. He was a world traveling Islamic diplomat from Morocco, captured by Christian pirates in 1518, and delivered to Pope Leo X at Rome in the interesting times of Martin Luther's schism from the Church and the aggressive Ottomans on the march destroying the 200 year old Mamluk dynasties in Egypt to own the entire eastern Med. Odd but intriguing history you might find of interest. Not a great read by any means, but provides intriguing historical connections to significant figures in the culture clashes of the time. Probably just worth googling WiKi to get the gist of this mercurial character, whose name, Leo Africanus, has always interested me but who I'd never taken the time to flesh out. No biggie.

FG wouldn't have been a gimme, CH. Sure, I can see three runs at that time.
Three runs? That sounds like something my wife would say. That almost overtakes the Tarhole for witless statements made about the game.
Look, obviously the Patriots deserve credit for making superb halftime adjustments which the Falcons did not. But Atlanta's secondary failed to come up with any interceptions when Brady threw the ball into a crowd. You can marvel all you want at Edelman's catch but Brady threw it into triple coverage and right at Malcolm, who didn't do what he's paid to do.
The Falcons are a really dumb team. Even when they physically overwhelmed Seattle they did enough stupid things for the score to be closer than the level of physical domination. If you want to say the Patriots are smarter, have at it. But so is every other team.

Oh I am bitter this morning...BITTER. It would be one thing if the Patriots had come out and dominated from the get-go; if that happened, I'd think "well, I blew a few bucks backing the loser, not the first time that's happened". But no, I was counting my winnings, congratulating myself on not only taking Atlanta with the 3 points, but also outright and also with nice odds at minus 3 1/2 points and 7 1/2 points. I can't stand Brady, and even his friendship with Trump doesn't redeem him in my eyes. DAMN those Patriots, damn them for making my tears fall into what was supposed to be my celebratory beer. Turns out the only high point was Lady Gaga not making any political remarks. Everything else was BITTER SHIZZLE.

Exactly, which was why I was saying some big rallies for Trump would be helpful. But maybe it doesn't matter. This is reminiscent of the Vietnam era, when the media was completely in the tank for the antiwar movement and the Democrats, yet Nixon beat Humphrey in '68 and then McGovern in '72 in one of the biggest landslides ever.

from the Kurt Schlichter link -
"Understand that when they call Donald Trump “illegitimate,” what they are really saying is that our desire to govern ourselves is illegitimate. Their beef isn’t with him – it’s with us, the normal people who dared rise up and demand their right to participate in the rule of this country and this culture."

rse, that piece goes far beyond troubling.
And the fact that the author is a law prof is even worse - he's indoctrinating future lawyers with that garbage on a daily basis.

The gymnast and Harry Belafonte piece hyping Equality as the essence of the American vision and then all the patriotic graphics made the graphics in fact about the Marxist Humanist "to each according to his needs" vision.
All the adverts were following this template that came out last week. http://report.businesscommission.org/uploads/BetterBiz-BetterWorld_final.pdf
To quote: "All the actors in the world's markets need to work together on innovative solutions to the most pressing needs of society across the world."
All the CAGW hype and data fraud and temperature commitments are all just an excuse for the planning and the right of governments at all levels to control you and businesses and cities as if we are all 'systems'. That's the purpose of the Global Goals for Sustainable Development and very much what the real education vision is about.
It was simply not supposed to be recognized ten to 12 years from completion. I spent a good bit of the weekend downloading World Bank materials laying out the related global vision after it was referenced in a footnote linked to on Friday by the same profs at NYU who created the Roadmap for the Next Administration back in October. It remains the roadmap unless Trump and his appointees are aware of it. More reason then for the stall on his appointees.
