The failing NY Times has the best obituaries.
Florence Finch, Unsung War Hero Who Took On Japanese, Dies at 101
Florence Finch was an atypical hometown hero. For nearly 50 years after World War II, virtually no one outside of her family knew that she was a highly decorated Coast Guard veteran and a former prisoner of war whose exploits had been buried in time.
“Women don’t tell war stories like men do,” her daughter, Betty Murphy, of Ithaca, N.Y., said recently.
And even on those rare occasions when she recalled her heroics in the Philippines — supplying fuel to the Filipino underground, sabotaging supplies destined for the Japanese occupiers, smuggling food to starving American prisoners and surviving torture after she was captured — Mrs. Finch did so with the utmost modesty.
“I feel very humble,” she once said, “because my activities in the war effort were trivial compared with those of the people who gave their lives for their country.”
Be that as it may, for her humble accomplishments "received the Medal of Freedom (the forerunner of today’s Presidential Medal of Freedom), the nation’s highest award to a civilian."

Oh, the yard signs--spare me. The crap we saw in DC three weeks ago was utterly mind boggling.
Quit virtue signaling, all you government workers being paid by the sweat of your fellow citizens' brow, and go join a church or charity and address all these social ills which trouble you so.
It's pretty clear your "public service" isn't making much of a difference.

The best overall views of the eclipse and related phenomena are generally seen at 95 percent of the way to the edge of the path, where the duration of totality is one-third of the center-line duration.
Per the article, no self respecting astronomer goes to the middle once they've seen the glory nearer the edge.

#NeverTrumper Bret Stephens almost gets a clue:
Times columnist blasted by ‘nasty left’ for climate change piece
A New York Times columnist who was “harangued” for months by “bullying Trump supporters” says he’s now being blasted by the “nasty left” — after he penned a piece about how absurd it was to blindly support climate change, without listening to both sides of the argument...
"After 20 months of being harangued by bullying Trump supporters, I’m reminded that the nasty left is no different. Perhaps worse.”
Perhaps?
You haven't figured that out yet?

Miss M,
Bret Stephens has an apparent inability to see the fundamental difference between good citizens passionately trying to save this Constitutional Republic and the un-American Left, which is dead set on using every evil Alinsky trick in the book, including Lawbreaking, Vote Fraud, Judicial Fiat and Mass Violence, to overthrow our Constitutional Republic. That Stephens appears to equate the 2 as simply two equal sides of the political spectrum both explains his illogical #NeverTrump reasoning and illuminates his inability to rise above such shallow reasoning.

FWIW,
Local Aussie Sunday Morning News programs are on. I'm watching ABC over and over again. 70% of the overall coverage is Trump. Topics that replay every hour are:
---his 100 days, how it's being reported
---clip of Trump talking to the camera saying his 100 days have been the most successful in history by a President
---reporter outside his speech venue noticing the crowds and commenting on the positive comments of the Trump supporters at the rally, but then commenting on his Anti-Global Warming position, leading to
---video of Climate Protesters outside the White House, then
---over to Nikki Haley and Rex Tillerson speaking at the UN followed by
---video of US Carriers steaming in the Pacific, followed by Kim and this latest Nork missile launch, leading to
---video of Trump's tweet and then Japan's Prime Minister calling Kim's latest unsuccessful launch as an outrage.
Then they start covering the Pope and a bit on the French Election and Angela Merkel saying something bad about England, then the weather, followed by Gorgeous Sports News Reader, Georgia Tunny!
As the Captain would say, "Thats a wrap."

Same in Europe. All the press (which all are full commie and anti-American) focus more on Trump and the USA then they do their own governments and culture. But whenever someon like Trump talks about either leaving NATO or having these diapered countries payup, they go apoplectic.
I'd cut a deal with Putin: You get the Euro-weenies and we get Iran and North Korea off the proliferation map. Plus we own the western hemisphere. We'll throw in Turkey as a bonus for letting us keep Israel and her immediate neighbors.

President Trump just signed 2 executive orders at Ames Tool in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.
1. To authorize Wilbur Ross to find every violation of trade agreements and to recommend how to stop them. (On signing this one, President Trump said to Ross that if they can't find a solution, we will withdraw.) (Also, Peter Navarro is there and he got the pen.)
2. To establish an office of trade and manufacturing within the White House.
