Eighty-four year old Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg may be ready for retirement but this incident is not the evidence for it:
Justice Ginsburg: Sen. Lindsey Graham one of the ‘women of the Senate’
POSTED AT 7:21 PM ON APRIL 11, 2017 BY JOHN SEXTON
Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the late Justice Antonin Scalia were honored Monday by Allegheny College in Pennsylvania. During a speech she gave at the event, Justice Ginsburg described Senator Lindsey Graham as one of the “women of the Senate.”
Justice Ginsburg gave a brief talk about civility and her friendship with the late Justice Scalia. She then made an implied contrast between the era in which she and Scalia were confirmed and the present day. “I thought back to the 1993 confirmation of my nomination to the court,” she said. She continued, “The hearing was altogether civil. The vote was 96 to 3. For Justice Scalia the vote was unanimous.
“Let’s hope members of Congress, the members that Allegheny College has already honored, Vice President Joe Biden and Senator John McCain; the women of the Senate, Senators Dianne Feinstein and Lindsey Graham. Let’s hope that they and others of good will lead in restoring harmonious workways.”
Where is the word "and" when you need it? Ms. RBG was noting past winners of the award: Biden and McCain in 2016, the "women of the Senate" in 2014, and Feinstein/Graham in 2013.
Perhaps Ms. RBG's speechwriter should enroll in a remedial "Clarity in Communications" class with Sean Spicer, but no, she did not peg Sen. Graham as a woman.
Oh shoot, I'm first. Now what do I do....

Does RBG know Biden isn't in Congress?
Posted by: Captain Hate | April 12, 2017 at 10:24 AM
Ahh, she did call him "Vice President Biden" in the text. Since she is pleading for Congressional comity, his pairing with McCain was topical.

There is a greater chance that Destiny and Tatiana would pay for your champagne room than there is that Justice Ginsburg would retire before the Dems take back the POTUS office. I could even see her staying on with a Dem POTUS if the GOP still had the Senate (although with a Dem POTUS and something like a 52-48 GOP advantage in the Senate, I could easily see some GOPers voting for a Merrick Garland type nominee).

The Civic Cost Of Illegal Immigration
"Mexico-which is now offering advice to illegal immigrants on how best to avoid U.S. federal immigration authorities-has the most to gain by porous borders. ...
Mexico enjoys some $25 billion in annual remittances, predicated on the unspoken assumption that its poor and hard-working expatriates can only afford to send such vast sums out of the United States through the magnanimity of the American social welfare system that helps subsidize families to free up hard-earned cash."

Can't believe I agree with Halperin
Morning Joe has been on a Steve Bannon-bashing spree the last couple of days, with various panel members predicting his departure from the White House. As Mika Brzezinski put it yesterday, “the end is nigh” for Bannon.
But Mark Halperin made a strong case for Bannon on today’s show, saying that being conventional is not what got Donald Trump elected, and that “Bannon is one of the few people in the White House and in Trump’s life who is creative, who’s innovative, who takes risks, who advocates taking risks. Someone has to be for that.”

Congress expands 'unmasking' probe amid questions over Rice role | Fox News
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., now plans to audit files from the National Security Agency and White House to determine whether identities and conversations of presidential candidates – or members of Congress – also were swept up during NSA surveillance of foreign leaders. He also plans to review whether Obama’s National Security Council and White House counsel collected and distributed the intelligence for reasons unrelated to foreign intelligence.
“We will be performing an accounting of all unmasking for political purposes focused on the previous White House administration,” a member of the committee told Fox News. “This is now a full-blown investigation.”
Staffers on the Senate committee told Fox News they also have expanded their investigation into whether presidential candidates were unmasked and information was misused -- and what role former national security adviser Susan Rice, among others, played following reports that she requested Trump-affiliated names be unmasked.
For a private U.S. citizen to be “unmasked,” or named, in an intelligence report is extremely rare and typically only done if it has some foreign intelligence value. Typically, the American is a suspect in a crime, is in danger or has to be named to explain the context of the report.
The intelligence reports that Rice and others in the administration reportedly assembled are similar to what a private investigator might piece together, congressional and U.S. intelligence sources said. In some cases, rather than documenting foreign intelligence, the files included salacious personal information that if released could be embarrassing or harmful to the person’s reputation, U.S. intelligence and House Intelligence Committee sources said.

Good Morning!
Last night was a bit of an exciting dog walk. Our snow down in the lower elevations is melting and slushy to walk thru, so we headed back to Flattop and the Powerline Trail where I knew it'd be colder and the snow cover would still be thick and cold enough to walk on top of instead of our feet plunging down to knee cap level at every step.
We were back in a gorgeous area very near this spot, and I was heaving the softball to Scout, while Fry was sniffing whatever.
Suddenly Scout comes running back to me and instead of the tennis ball being in her mouth she had this---Bear Spray!
Immediately curious Fry wants a piece of that action, so he comes racing up and those 2 are suddenly yanking on the opposite ends of the canister, which is about 10 inches long and maybe 2 inches in diameter. Thankfully I wrestle it away from the both of them before the darn thing is punctured and before Fry's teeth bit into the firing mechanism. (Long time JOMer's will remember how Fry bit open a canister in our SUV years back with Momma driving and everybody in the car gagging.)
So now I have to examine the thing and thankfully it wasn't leaking, but I couldn't re-bury it, so I rearrange my pockets of Tennis Balls and dog treats and the Sony Walkman, and zip the Bear Spray in a pocket with it's head poking out that Fry keeps trying to attack for the rest of the walk---that stinker:) Anyhow, not knowing how long it had been buried I was probably over-paranoid of the condition of the canister, but I sure was glad to get back to the Parking Lot where I bumped into a Park Ranger guy and was able to unload the thing to him. So nothing happened at all but I was sure sweating that something might. Here's a live webcam of the parking lot and the beginning of the trail if anyone cares. You can tell it's going to be another blue sky, gorgeous day up here. BTW, saw fresh Bear scat yesterday. That caught Scout's attention too!

Since Dartmouth was the inspiration for the movie "Animal House," it obviously is time for a Toga Party:

N.H. Supreme Court Upholds Ruling Against Banned Dartmouth Fraternity
The fraternity was barred from campus in April 2015 after revelations that at least 11 new members had the organization’s Greek letters branded into their skin. The students involved said it was voluntary, but the fraternity was still barred “for causing physical harm to its members and violating the terms of an existing suspension.”

When I saw that UA video, I had flashbacks because it reminded me of the many cons I've extracted from their cells like that over the years. The cons called us the goon squad and we'd always video the move to save our butts when we were sued. As long as all 5 members of the move team followed policy, and we always did when I was on them, the video would always show an unruly con refusing several direct orders to comply. Then it's time to rock and roll and stuff happens when you fight. Not to throw this dude into the same category as the ones I dealt with, it just looked familiar.

What Narciso's referencing at 11:55 from The Guardian, with the added bonus of "a new euphemism" for Muslim Terror attacks---"Islamic Spectrum!"
Borussia Dortmund blasts: suspect 'from Islamist spectrum' detained
German police investigating a pipe bomb attack on a bus transporting the Borussia Dortmund football team to a Champions League match have detained one suspect and are searching for another, both described by prosecutors as having links to “the Islamist spectrum”.
The Islamist spectrum?
...letters found close to the scene of the attack, all of which suggested it was the work of Islamic terrorists...said the attack had been carried out “in the name of Allah the gracious, the merciful one”. It made reference to the Christmas market attack and accused German tornadoes in operation in Syria of involvement in killing Muslims in the Islamic State caliphate. It also called for the closure of the US base at Ramstein in western Germany.
I don't want to get ahead of ourselves here, but it sure sounds like Islamist spectrum. Probably time for a hashtag.
#Islamic Spectrum.
And we also get this completely unexpected shocker:
German chancellor Angela Merkel said she was dismayed by the attack...
Whoa!

AB,I just read the account of the plane landing at Pease in the Portsmouth paper. They have more info than the Bangor paper, because the Pease Development Authority director was told by the ANG that pilot training was being done. The article says that "Air Force One" refers to two highly customized Boeing 747-200B series. The airplane was on the military side of the airport. If the pilots were training would they use *the* Air Force One,with all the sensitive electronic equipment? I imagine the *real* Air Force One is in a super secure hangar at Andrews.

A great bit from Lyle's 01:27 on EPA sadness
Myron...delivered a classic quote:
The EPA did not respond to requests for comment on Cox’s letter, but Myron Ebell, who led Trump’s EPA transition team, did.
"Now that Trump is moving toward “radically downsizing the EPA,” Ebell said, “employees who are opposed to the Trump Administration’s agenda are either going to conduct themselves as professional civil servants or find other employment or retire or be terminated. I would be more sympathetic if they had ever expressed any concern for the people whose jobs have been destroyed by EPA’s regulatory rampage.”

Ditto that, Barbara.
My dream fantasy is Hillary and Bill having to share the same 8x10 prison cell for the rest of their lives, and that the corpse of the first to die stays in the cell until the other kicks.
