So how come Dartmouth isn't suspending students who get tattoos or nose piercings?

Can we infer daughter #1 has some new body art that momma is not happy about??

Thanks henry.

One word: preview. ;)

Too busy with checklist. This is on the attendant crew, who are used to being obeyed.

Christie gets uptwinkles from be for recommending Myron Ebelll to Trump for his transition team.

Breaking. Here is a bit of what Lavrov the Russian just said in the joint conference with Rex Tillerson airing live: Tough to hear properly so garbled stuff I was uncertain of I put in parenthesis.

Lavrov: I can only confirm that we are both interested in clearest cooperation, fighting Cybercrime. You have probably heard that we have said on many occasions. 18 months ago in October 2015 we proposed to the Obama Administration, given it's concern about the activities of a so called Russian Hacker, they started to pursue over the (garbled) without resorting to the Legal procedures that existed between Russia and the US, they started to detain these hackers and prosecute them, after extraditing them from 3rd countries. Back then we said that we were not interested in our citizens being involved in these crimes therefore we suggested that a special bilateral mechanism should be created that would exchange information in real time about anyone trying to breach the International or National norms of both Russia and the US. The Obama Administration refused this proposal of ours, they didn't respond. But then at the end of the Obama Administration in November last year they prepared (that we should meet). Certainly our relevant Govt agencies agreed, but at the last moment the Obama Administration changed their mind because they were probably very, very interested in undermining the American Russian relationship before the arrival of the new Administration in power. That is why we once again confirmed this interest of ours today, and that is why we suggested that our contacts should be resumed at the level of Special Envoys of the US Administration and the Russian, and also contact at the level of relevant authorities. We feel that this time that the result of these efforts might be different, leading to there establishment of new channels of cooperation...

I would be more sympathetic if they had ever expressed any concern for the people whose jobs have been destroyed by EPA’s regulatory rampage.”

Beat me to it Lyle. Great minds:)

I know their context was syria but the facts are stubborn things

Since thanks for that insight at 01:32. Very valuable and informative. Thanks for educating me. I am sure glad we have good guys like you doing that rugged work for the rest of us.

A little Trandrea taught manners by Lavrov video.

I do feel sorry for the people who would have to guard them and clean up after one of their fights. It would be like pulling guard duty at Guantanamo.

Can't we just jettison them into the upper regions of the atmosphere sans space suits?

I didn't know Austin was such a happenin' place!

The house that was banned (Alpha Delta, f.k.a. Alpha Delta Tau) was the actual inspiration for Animal House.

That rang a bell in my mind as well. Thanks for the verification.

With Trump in chartge of the EPA, y'might as well get polluted...

This one I'm more skeptical of, since the EPA types up here have been trying hard to paint this latest 3 Gallon Leak as the Exxon Valdez, Take 2!

Oil leak in western Cook Inlet was less than 3 gallons, Hilcorp says

My guess is that it's more than 3 Gallons but less than Apocalypse II.

That 11:32 book excerpt looks like a great schadenfreude feast. I was a bit bothered by this when I clicked through to the book promo:

"Shattered tells an unforgettable story with urgent lessons both political and personal, filled with revelations that will change the way readers understand just what happened to America on November 8, 2016."

What happened "to" America? Maybe that's innocuous, but somehow I don't think the writers meant that America was saved from a disastrous presidency of a shrieking harridan.

Old Lurker

Barbara, well we would not want anything movable (throwable) to be in their cell. And we could sell WebCam access with audio and use the extra money so Rocco's friends could earn double for guarding them. For a higher monthly fee, we could let viewers talk at them through a speaker...

General Keane: on the Tillerson/Lavrov Presser:

Trish Regan:

Gen Keane: I thought Rex would see Putin. He wanted to dramatize it a little bit. .You can't have the new Sec State in Moscow and not be seen by the Head Of State, so he did see him, but listen I'll tell you what, if there's anybody out there that doubts the capability of this Secretary of State, get rid of that thought, because we have a strong Secretary of State who's very matter of fact, very businesslike-----gone are the phony platitudes that we used to have dealing with this guy Lavrov, who's a bold faced liar. And you could see him squirming in that chair today, as Tillerson was talking about where they are. Whats happened here, there is absolutely nothing substantive coming out of here in terms of agreements, other than the fact that they want to improve the relationship. That is the single agreement that they have which indicates how bad this relationship truly is but It's a good thing that we're talking to each other.

Trish:...From the Russian perspective, why do they feel that they are at such a low?

Gen Keane: Well because they wanted to keep playing that winning hand, and they are not going to be able to do it...the thing that happened here is we never knew for sure where the Trump Admin was going to go...were they going to pull back from the historical role we used to do to try to stabilize the world. Well that is over. We are reassuring out allies that we are going to exercise our Global Leadership role... That is a fact. That is no longer a debatable fact. You could see it right here today...

Sorry, ran out of tape. Keane is excellent.

An Easter film for those who may be interested, a high rating with audiences..

What happened "to" America? Maybe that's innocuous,

No chance it's innocuous. Look who the authors were...

The EPA has grown into a monster. It has enforced it's "administrative" regulations with impunity at a cost that has yet to be properly calculated.

Friends of my sister had a farm or ranch up in California. To ensure that they had a supply of water especially during the drought years, they built a reservoir on their property at no mean expense and with appropriate permits. The EPA came in and told them they had to dismantle it because it was endangering some subspecies that no one had ever heard of. Finally, after lengthy and costly legal battles, they removed the reservoir, sold the property and moved out of state.

They are now enjoying life with their large family, grandchildren and friends. But they left behind a lifetime of memories and old friends. I hope that President Trump can revamp and reduce the EPA so that travesties like this never happen again.

Found the story in seacoastonline.com. Yep, that's one of 'em. Tail numbers 28000 and 29000 are the presidential aircraft.

There are only two, they're supposedly identically outfitted, and are supposedly interchangeable. Don't know if they actually use them both for presidential travel, or if one is primary presidential use and the other for training to be pressed into service only when required.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Apparently the Russian guy shut down Andrea Mitchell at the press conference because she interrupted and just started demanding answers to her questions.

The Russian told her to sit down, that she had been brought up without manners. HA!

(Rush reported this in on the radio. I MUST find video of that press conference!!)

A-Bob, I read somewhere that the spare was usually sent nearby so it would be available if a problem develops on the one the POTUS is using.

Seems overly emotional.

The EPA people were just doing their job and following the rules. The people with destroyed jobs should have read the fine print.

My computer froze up and I had to reboot so I didn't see your link before I posted my comment (and twice, too, don't know how that happened).

HA! I think Lavrov should get a bonus point for that myself!

Stranger things have happened, jimmyk. But in general I share your skepticism.

Live thread on T_D here. Pretty funny comments.

Back to work.

Loved that little smile on Sec. Tillerson's face :)

Trandrea AGAIN with that red suit. It's like her "I'm stalking Republicans" suit. She wore it during the famous exchange with the Huntress, too.

Declaring your intention to attack with great fanfare detracts from the shock and awe element that carries with it a substantial psychological effect that can be equal to or greater than any physical consequences.

Especially when your secretary of state follows up the threat with a promise that the strikes would be “unbelievably small.”

How can I explain this in a way that would be both effective and delicate? Suppose a man calls his wife from work to arrange a special date night. “Drop the kids off at your mother’s,” he suggests in his most seductive voice. “I’m planning something very special. But it will be unbelievably short.” Whatever happens after this is bound to be singularly underwhelming.

On a more serious note:

Heh, will be anyway, now.

Rex: "We know Russia interfered in our elections."

Splain, please, with adequate context.

Was it a slip? Was he meaning something else. Mistranscribed? He better get this one straightened out or there will be Hell to pay in our press.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Is President Trump having a press conference shortly?

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Answer: Yes - joint press conference with NATO head Stollenberg

Will we ever know de trute?

I'm still a fan of the analyst about Halabja who claimed the deaths in the town were from Persian gas. I believe that both Iraqi and Iranian forces used gas against each other's military forces in that battle for water(a dam on the Tigris), but the Persian gas drifted to the town.

One side used a respiratory gas, the other a nerve gas. I've forgotten now which was which, but the townspeople had symptoms of the Persian gas.

So I don't know about this latest Al-jazz report.

Heh, I think Saddam claimed he heard about the incident by reading the paper. He certainly did use gas against other Kurdish communities, and not even in the context of a battle with the Persians.

Clarice Feldman

More from a correspondent on the Page story in the WaPO:The key part is where they apparently claim that Page

" was an agent of the Russian government and knowingly engaged in clandestine intelligence activities on behalf of Moscow"

I can easily imagine that the incident where he was asked for some open source material would be characterized in the application as "responds to tasking requirement from known FSB agent" or something like that. Almost any act could be interpreted in that fashion. Page's eagerness to testify strongly suggests that he thinks he has nothing to hide.

The thing is, of course, that the Russian, as the representative of a foreign power that is placed in the highest category of threat to National Security, would have already been subject to a Full Investigation and all his communications with the rest of the world would have been subject to collection--including communications with Donald Trump. Thus there wouldn't normally be any need to collect Page's communications with Russians because they were already being collected from the other end. Problem: I doubt that the Russian ever communicated with Trump, and if political intel on Trump was your true goal then collecting communications with the Russian and Page wasn't good enough. You'd need to have a full FI and do FISA collection from some American who was in touch with Trump or Trump's circle. Thus the need to identity some American as "an agent ... knowingly engaged in clandestine intel activity" and open an FI, not just a PI. If you can get the FISC to buy off on that fairy tale (I'd bet) then you can collect his communications with the whole rest of the world--not just with Russians--because we all know that seemingly innocent conversations with almost anyone may actually be cleverly coded communications, etc. The sky becomes the limit.

Since Page was in NYC, the FBI office there would normally handle all this, but I don't think that would have fit the needs of the Obama/Clinton people. They needed, or wanted, to see that stuff on a daily basis. For that reason alone--as well as the sensitivity of the case--I think it would have been run out of HQ with Comey and his #2 getting daily briefs and Obama also getting the take in his Daily Brief. So, yeah, complicit. They were the ones who would have had to be involved in massaging any data on Page to convince the FISC that it all had some nefarious purpose.

a good article to go with the alcoholic EPA link - "EPA Goes After Low-Income Farmers In Land Grab
The Supreme Court says the Clean Water Act is not a grant of federal control over every stream and depression in the nation. The Environmental Protection Agency says otherwise."

"Pendleton County, West Virginia, is home to 540 farms. The average farm in the county has a net income of around $45,000 a year. On either coast, that’s not an impressive income, but those farms are important to Pendleton County, where the median household income is $30,429.

Arlington County, Virginia, just blocks from the nation’s capital, is one of the richest counties in the nation, with a median household income of $94,876, and a median family income just over $127,000. Two thousand, one hundred employees of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) call Arlington County home."

The ewok on the Curb Dive charm initiative:

New Book: Hillary Is Even More Awful Than You Thought

From Hot Air, an excerpt of an upcoming book previewed in The Hill called Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton's Doomed Campaign.

The blame belonged to her campaign team, she believed, for failing to hone her message, energize important constituencies and take care of business in getting voters to the polls. And now, Jake Sullivan, her de facto chief strategist, was giving her lip about the last answer she'd delivered in the prep session.
"That's not very good," Sullivan corrected.

"Really?" Hillary snapped back.

The room fell silent.

"Why dont you do it?"

The comment was pointed and sarcastic, but she meant it. So for the next 30 minutes, there he was, pretending to be Hillary while she critiqued his performance.

Every time the Yale lawyer and former high school debate champ opened his mouth, Hillary cut him off. "That isnt very good," shed say. "You can do better." Then she'd hammer him with a Bernie line.

What a peach.

When NeverTrump jumped the shark, continuing their (perfectly acceptable) primary opposition to Trump into general election season, most of them passive-aggressively supporting Clinton while claiming they were doing no such thing, one flaw of Trump they'd frequently point to was his characterological defects, his inability to take criticism, his anger, his autocratic impulses, and so on.

All of which was worth a worry or two -- but his opponent was Hillary Clinton, a walking (or stumbling) personality disorder.

But it was "binary thinking" to point that out, or to treat the election as if it were a "binary choice" between one flawed candidate who promised to nominate conservative judges and another flawed candidate who vowed to nominate progressive judges.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Stollenberg said President Trump's "stong and forceful" comment about paying their fair share to NATO was HELPFUL!!!

Poetry by the Horde:

Chelsea ought to be on her knees every day thanking Gaia that Bill and Hillary needed to appear "like folks" in order to fool the rubes, or her existence within the zub-sero, guano-spattered, stalactite-ridden torture chamber Hillary calls a womb could have been measured in nanoseconds.

Remember Chelsea Hubble saying that she wished that her Grandmother had had unlimited abortion rights? Yeah, not the brightest penny in the leave-one-take-one tray.

the FBI office there would normally handle all this, but I don't think that would have fit the needs of the Obama/Clinton people. They needed, or wanted, to see that stuff on a daily basis. Completely agree, Clarice. The Page FISA was the cover, and under the pretense of observing him as a Russian Agent they likewise bent the rules that we are constantly told "forbid us from listening in to 2 American's yacking, instead of only an American and a foreigner."

It strikes me as the old Navy method in action---you don't ask for "permission," you do the deed and then, if required, you ask for "forgiveness" afterwards. And since Hillary was sure to win no asking for forgiveness would ever even be required, plus with Comey and McCabe in on the fix and complicit, nobody could ever squeal without getting themselves in trouble.

So "It was the perfect crime!", as Perry Mason's sobbing witness might say, having just unexpectedly confessed to a murder that'll send him to the Gas Chamber.

"No chance it's innocuous. Look who the authors were..."

I guess they're Hillary campaign people, but they're writing a tell-all. If the blurb had said "...what America narrowly avoided" instead of "...what happened to America" they would sell a lot more copies. They obviously can't escape the lefty mindset even when the mental illness is right there before them. Despite that excerpt, I bet they try to be sympathetic to the harridan and nasty to Trump.

Who mourns Saddam?

Thanks, narciso; glad to move beyond Pelletier.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Correct. I bet that is the only excerpt that makes her sound bad.

Conservatives are the book-buyers. So they lure people into buying the only possible Hillary book that would sell - a tell-all about the campaign.

Except it probably won't be. The tell is that it was given to The Hill.

Since we're Instanlanced, here's refresher on the historical kindness of the EPA:

Top EPA official resigns after 'crucify' comment

(EPA Exec Al) Armendariz made the original remarks at a local Texas government meeting in 2010. He relayed to the audience what he described as a "crude" analogy he once told his staff about his "philosophy of enforcement."

"It was kind of like how the Romans used to, you know, conquer villages in the Mediterranean," he said. "They'd go in to a little Turkish town somewhere, they'd find the first five guys they saw, and they'd crucify them.

"And then, you know, that town was really easy to manage for the next few years," he said.

Armendariz went on to say that "you make examples out of people who are, in this case, not complying with the law ... and you hit them as hard as you can" -- to act as a "deterrent" to others.

Reduce the EPA back to the number of employees it had when the EPA was first created, and then start firing whoever's left that deserves firing.

Dave (in MA)

Slim's Chimps would have us believe that the Estes win in the KS special election was a loss, because of the relatively slim (no pun intended) margin.

Janet 🚬

More EPA charm - " ...federal officials chased her down for a “dinky” North Pole pin someone gave her at an event to which she said, “I threw the f–ing thing away.” She also said that a jar of moose meat she got from a little girl at a hearing in Alaska “could gag a maggot.”

Janet 🚬

This one also ties in with the Obama administration using U.S. government agencies as their personal weapons. The DNC should have been paying their salaries, not American taxpayers.

EPA - "...the groups Earth Justice, the Natural Resources Defense Council and the Pew Charitable Trust. They were given information on roughly 80,000 farmers and ranchers."

Clarice Feldman

Looks that way to me, daddy.

Carter Page talks to Catherine Herridge on FOX:

Carter Page: There was a tremendous amount of false evidence, and there's various reporting about where that false evidence may have come from, src as the dodgy "Dossier" which we've discussed previously, so we shall see how that all plays out.

Catherine Herridge; That was a reference to the Trump Dossier that was compiled by a former British Intelligence Officer. In addition we have been able to review court records here at FOX News that allege that in 2013 Carter Page passed Energy records to a Russian Intelligence operative. When we asked him about that today Page said the records were in fact "University Lectures."

Shows another clip of Carter page:

Page: I have nothing that I want to hide, and the more that the truth comes out the better, because there has just been so much lies, and now potentially false evidence, which is the next step beyond lies, when it is potentially used in a Court of Law, so that will be very interesting to see how this all plays out.

Catherine Herridge; The Associated Press is reporting today that newly obtained financial records show that former Trump Campaign Chairman Paul Manafort was paid at least 1.2 Million Dollars as the "off the books" payment for his pro-russian work. In a statement a spokesman for Manafort said that "the AP story is Misleading and incorrect", and there is also word today from our reporting on FOXNews.com that the House and Senate Investigations into the "Unmasking" or identifying of Trump Campaign Officials is expanding.

Carter Page sure looks upbeat to me and like he is very. very eager to testify!

What a pleasure watching Rex Tillerson. How rare to see a US Secretary Of State actually interested in accomplishing the job of Secretary of State, instead of using it as a launching platform for a Presidential Campaign, or as a partisan gig to ride bikes around Europe at taxpayer expense, while in the meantime cutting venal deals with dictators to usher in Muslim "immigrants" to weaken Western Civilization, then painting your American critics as evil for not buying into such stupidity.

Old Lurker

I couldn't agree more! He inspires confidence.

Also, he is not bringing stupid props or James Taylor to sing to them!

The press seems to have forgotten that Tillerson knows both Lavarov and Putin, from his dealings with them while heading Exxon.

What an excellent choice he was!

By the way, the press conference with the NATO guy was quite satisfying. The NATO guy said that President Trump's comments about members paying up had increased their coffers by about $10 billion, and he THANKED him. Then Trump said they were glad to see that, and they were going to start talking about those payments from the past which were still outstanding. LOL!

Also, Trump pointed out that China was tryig to help andpointed out the coal barges being turned around.

He said he hopes China would be effective, but if not, "We will be effective. That I can promise you."

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Captain Hate,

Tammy may be right, since even the guy from the Daily Mail said he might find it hard to recover. (He's pretty fair compared to most of them.)

What it means is that the press will harp on this every damn day until they get their way.

I favor replacing him with Bob Knight, who would probably tell them to go F themselves.

Move Spicer to the back rooms and put someone really hard-nosed out there. They will be begging for Spicer pretty quick.

I hate this for him because he was doing a damn good job (regardless of what Laura Ingraham says).

Old Lurker

Don't answer that, DrJ.

Just saw the Rice Interview with Judy Woodruff where Rice says that she had to look at all this stuff to protect America, otherwise it would be a dereliction of duty.

That is the same clip I watched the other day that first made me think she was listening to everybody without going thru the charade of pretending to listen to Foreigners talking to incidental Americans. I think if it hits the fan that that statement of hers to Judy Woodruff will be what she points to as to why they had to do this potentially unlawful thing of listening in on 2 Americans talking. That is her pre-apology, offered in advance, that she will then point to retroactively as her cover.

@ Old Lurker, Killfile stopped for me too. Hope someone more tech than I can tell us has happened? The "KF" is up at the top right but it's grayed out instead of active. But Chrome says it is active...

Jim Eagle

Listening to the Tillerson and Lavarov presser as well as reading the transcript, is anyone beyond a doubt who the adults are in the Trump cabinet? John Kerry is a complete idiot, dunce, unintelligent partisan political hack compared to Rex Tillerson and his command of language, tough talk diplomacy and competence.

We have 8 years of a degraded American image and resolution to cure in short order. Trump, "Jim" and T-Rex are that salvation for the time being. It is hard work as some have said but it has to be done and as quick as possible. People don't reallize how close we became irrelevant if Hillary had been elected to carry on Zippy's campaign to demise America.

Wow. Did we ever miss a bullet.

Old Lurker

Going after Spicer seems like a rolling game of whack a mole. They identify one individual on Trump's team then throw everything at him/her to see if they can get a scalp. When they don't get it, they just pick another target and repeat. They got Lyndowski (?) and they got Flynn and they will try to get them all one by one.

I hate them immensely.

I don't. For Krise-sakes we had Sec State Hillary Clinton giving Lavrov some stupid "Reset Button" that didn't even spell Reset proper in Russian. Talk about moronic.
