Trump gets tremendous credit for doing what Obama and Kerry merely talked about, namely, doing not much. But symbolism counts and Trump has certainly given world leaders pause for reflection. From The American Interest:
Back in the real world, however, the strike was being read for what it is: a demonstration that this Administration is less reluctant to use force than the one that preceded it. And though Russia was the big power most directly challenged by the strike, Putin was perhaps not even the primary intended recipient of the message. The strikes occurred just as President Trump was having dinner with Xi Jinping of China, and, according to AFP, Trump delivered the news to Xi personally. The subtext was unmistakeable: Get serious about North Korea; our recent threats were not idle. Don Corleone himself couldn’t have set a better table.
China won't tolerate a Korea unified under Southern leadership aligned with the West. But they do have an heir to the throne handy if Trump starts to seem even more problematic than Kim Jonh Un.
Isn't Wictor just a brilliant military analyst, Miss Marple. I know you've seen this one from a year ago, which Wictor linked to on Twitter just now:

What a Masters! I had to leave at 7:00 after watching them both blow their putt. I was not happy and I wanted Rose to win because Sergio always seems like such an ass.
Did he win on the 1st hole after the 18th?

Landing in 20. Signing off.
Posted by: Jack is Back! (On his iPad) | April 09, 2017 at 08:26 PM
Nantz was just itching to yap about Seve and Olazabal when Sergio won; his scripts are so unspontaneous.
Posted by: Captain Hate | April 09, 2017 at 08:32 PM
Yes, Jane. Rose choked off the tee but Garcia finally gritted out a birdie putt in the playoff. Seeing Sergio interviewed after the win he seemed less of an ass and very much older now. But then, who isn't? Nance is still annoying.
Posted by: lyle | April 09, 2017 at 08:32 PM
I thought Sergio was very humble and very "non-ass" in Butler Cabin.
The interactions between him and Rose on the course were classy too.
Posted by: Another Bob | April 09, 2017 at 08:39 PM
I had completely forgotten who last year's Masters was. Had to look it up.
Posted by: lyle | April 09, 2017 at 08:45 PM
Sergio's been around long enough, and blown enough majors, to be more endearing than he used to be. Today was a good template for how he'll probably never win anything in a runaway fashion.

The fabulous grandson (as many here know Dx on Autism spectrum-high functioning-non-specified) has the ability to see trig/geom/calc/algebra equations and solve with immediate accuracy. If you query him about a simple multiplication factor, he will hesitate. And then his rote memory kicks in.
What really interests him--like species, flight, geography, musical-classical to pop or Broadway--he recalls with encyclopedic accuracy. An original mind!😇

Thomas Victor made a video Christmas Day of last year. I just finished watching it. Here is the link, and it's about 45 minutes long:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFnOTJ1uQBU
This is all about strange weapons that apparently the Saudis and other commandos helping the Iraqis are using. I know zip about weaponry, so it will take someone far more knowledgeable than me to tell me if he is mistaken on any of this stuff. He has video, stills, patent diagrams, etc.
Pretty interesting. I am putting this up for those who are interested and can critique.
I do think we don't know beans about what's going on over there, so all of these people who are sure they know are pretty much full of it. And I include myself in that mix.

I wonder if our ships off NOKO are a diversionary tactic as well as a necessary show of force, but Iran is the ultimate target. The Syrian strike serves as a burr under the camel's saddle, making the mullahs jumpy and liable to miscalculate, worrying what's next with 'unpredictable' Big Satan Trump and his military.

Glenda,
Had a classmate in university who was so dyslexic that one day he showed up to class wearing his shoes on the wrong foot. Graduated first in his class with a major in ME and an EE asa minor. Unheard of backthen. Ended up being an open heart surgeon. Was sort of like that Dustin Hoffman character in Rain Man but much more mobile and serious but really strange.
Oh and he could play any instrument. Drove people nuts at those bluegrass joints in Walnut Hills because he would just jump on stage and pick up a banjo or mandolin and start playing.

JimNorCal.
Don't bother. Many of those who comment are simply paid agitators. Some really don't pay attention to news.
I never read the replies to President Trump's feed because they are uniformly hateful. Twitter has some sort of algorithm which sorts using verified posters as p[referred and the replies are all by leftists I have never heard of but have the blue check.
Twitter for me is mostly a news aggregator where I get links. I follow about 400 people so that I can get a sense of what people are saying and periodically cull people from my list (like I did with Ann Coulter yesterday).
I do not get into Twitter arguents with leftists because it is a time waster, plus they are inclined to accuse you of harassment and you might get banned.

MM, just a point of clarification---being dyslexic doesn't mean a person can NOT read---I have colleagues who are dyslexic. Like so many of these diagnoses, there's a spectrum; some dyslexic people just are "slow" readers, and often find other ways of gathering information.
So the fact that POTUS can read and uses a teleprompter doesn't necessarily mean he is not dyslexic. His choice appears to be not to read too much, as we've seen from his rallies and heard from multiple reports re: his television news watching and clean desk without a computer.
Maybe even why he's such a Twitter fan?? ;-)
Big day today! I will be watching SC Gorsuch get sworn in, that's for sure. And praying that we get at least two more 'textualists' in the near future.

I think the MSM has to decide whether Trump is anti-Semitic or part of the world Jewish conspiracy.
Not really. They can keep both bilge pumps flowing as long as their low-information readers/viewers are unable to notice the contradiction, and will happily believe both mutually exclusive Trump-negative things at the same time.
Posted by: PD | April 10, 2017 at 09:06 AM
I'm sympathetic to Janet's view that we should stay out of Syria and let them kill each other. However, nonintervention does nothing to deal with the many refugees that Assad is continually creating. If intervention and subsequent efforts to create safe zones for refugees can stanch the flow of Syrians wanting to come to the US, that goes a long way to reducing one of the nastier problems Trump is trying to deal with. Makes it much harder for ISIS to infiltrate the ranks of the refugees with weaponized ringers if not so many refugees want to come here.
I'm not much bothered by Ann Coulter's negative take on the bombing, either. She did terrific work on Trump's behalf with In Trump We Trust and the way it destroys his leftist and NeverTrump critics, that I can certainly overlook this disagreement she has with him.

I suspect another drunk driving arrest. Former AG Peg Lautenschlager suddenly resigns from ethics panel. It says a lot about Dems and ethics that they would put this disgraced drunk on the board of the replacement to the GAB. I guess the next appointee is even worse. We shall see.

MM, that's why I was glad to see the Feds go after them for "gender pay inequity." Force these leftists live up to their own principles instead of just lecturing everyone else about them.

I guess the next appointee is even worse.
Solve that by dissolving the GAB altogether? What's it done in the last X years that hasn't been on behalf of Democrats?

Sounds like google got tired of paying for storage, so will do a pull on occasion. this does not change anything except buzz words as far as what data google accesses or what its models do. But "keeping your data on your phone" will be nice marketing blather-- while meaningless in a privacy sense.

Trump Takes Credit for Planned $1.33 Billion Toyota Spending
https://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2017-04-10/trump-takes-credit-as-toyota-spends-1-33-billion-on-camry-plant
I notice a headline like this seems to pop up whenever Trump mentions industry investments like this. Almost like it's an editorial policy.
Quite a contrast to the way the MFM attributed under the sun to their Sun God president if it was positive, even if he had nothing to do with it whatsoever. Which, given the toxicity of his involvement in anything, was usually the case.

I'm hoping the guys who wrote the Pepsi ad will be working for Hillary when she runs again.Honestly, I can see why Pepsi was surprised at the reaction--the ad reminds me of her last campaign.,,and the Democrats' Weltschmerz
