Why do cops hold these immediate press conferences when they know the only thing they're gonna say is "some guy got shot by some other guy; as for the rest we can't go into that or it's too early to say"?
Also McAwful covered himself in glory by first claiming the rhetoric is too heated in America and we need to work together. This from Clinton gangster scum who has made a fortune and a career grifting and defaming.
Then going on and on about how 93 million Americans get shot every day because of all the guns on the street that shouldn't be there, but that now is not the time to talk about the thing I just talked about. Even some dim bulb reporter had to question 93 million and noted "you just talked about it".

Sad to have a horrid first impression of FBI agent on scene with Mcauliffe to cry propaganda over American blood spilled by a politically- derangement infected man--thanks, Jimmy Comey, for reason to distrust your crew.
If the shooter is really from Illinois then he would require to have a Firearm Owners ID card (FOID - see below) in order to possess any type of firearm. Even if you received a gun as a gift from a family member you still need the FOID to possess the gun.
You can not touch a gun in a gun shop unless you show your FOID card first. You can not purchase ammo without showing your FOID card.
In addition, it appears the state runs a mental health background check every day against all FOID holders (see below).
Even person to person transfers required a call into a FOID card check number prior to sale.
As far as illinois conceal carry, there is a 16 hour training requirement, background checks and fees to obtain approval...in addition to FOID card.
So if is shooter from Illinois, a state which basically has universal background checks for all firearms and ammo purchases, it made absolutely no difference in stopping this guy. David Frum & McCauliffe have their heads up their asses.

Wow, MM...it was CNN reporter, Barbara Starr that fed prepared gun control question to Mcauliffe...it brought back Donna Brazille memories of "DNC colluding4Hillary"
Over on the CNN page TM linked, their "News Alert" banner reads:
"Police say it is much too early to determine motive in attackat GOP baseball practice that left five injured, including suspect."
We may not know precisely why he apparently wanted to kill Republicans, but in any number of cases lately, I've been struck by the rather bizarre usage of the term "suspect." I suppose it's based on legal terms of art, but in this case, for example, Scalise's security detail didn't take down someone suspected of being a shooter, they took down a perpetrator in action. Ditto for the use of "alleged" I saw elsewhere, as in the "alleged shooter."
I do think people sometimes misunderstand the concept of innocent till proven guilty under the law. It seems to me that when it comes to terrorism, more so than in this particular case, the idea that we're obliged to avoid stating the obvious till it's been "proven" in a court of law, has turned into a kind of pervasive neurosis. Even here, however, the CNN story hedges on "what sources are calling an apparent 'deliberate attack.'" As opposed to what? I daresay this is clear enough to go with an unqualified "deliberate attack." And yet, when it comes to accusations of political criminality and wrong doing, we're suddenly all loosey goosey again.
On a perhaps related note, I'm counting down till we hear that this is the inevitable consequence of the climate of hate created by Trump and the alt.right.
I think we need to hold a candlelight vigil, complete with Teddy Bears to guard against the inevitable backlash against murderous progs.
Progophobia is real, man.

henry, thanks for the archive link, which is now being overloaded and I can't get in.
One of the followers was Andrew Kazynski of CNN. The reason I noticed it was when I went to the twitter page on the lower left it popped up with "people you both follow" and there was Kazynski of CNN. So then I went and looked at the other followers and saw an NBC crime reporter!
I don't know how long they have been following him (maybe they did this morning) but it sure did jump out at me. I wonder if there is a way to figure out when they started following him.
I wasn't clear. On the shooters page it said "people you know who follow this account." The page is of his other people who followed the shooter, of which there were only 90.

The bestselling, Man Booker Prize-winning novel hailed as "a true achievement. Catton has built a lively parody of a 19th-century novel, and in so doing created a novel for the 21st, something utterly new. The pages fly."--New York Times Book Review
It is 1866, and Walter Moody has come to stake his claim in New Zealand's booming gold rush. On the stormy night of his arrival, he stumbles across a tense gathering of 12 local men who have met in secret to discuss a series of unexplained events: a wealthy man has vanished, a prostitute has tried to end her life, and an enormous cache of gold has been discovered in the home of a luckless drunk. Moody is soon drawn into a network of fates and fortunes that is as complex and exquisitely ornate as the night sky.
Richly evoking a mid-nineteenth-century world of shipping, banking, and gold rush boom and bust, THE LUMINARIES is at once a fiendishly clever ghost story, a gripping page-turner, and a thrilling novelistic achievement. It richly confirms that Eleanor Catton is one of the brightest stars in the international literary firmament.
849 pages. The NZ setting is especially enjoyable.
if obama and bernie supporters were banned from owning firearms, gun related incidents would drop 98%. however, they would ignore that law so sending them to mexico is the only solution.
Wait for it, but as soon as the media gets over being caught off guard and off message, they will turn this around and blame Conservatives and the President.
They need to coordinate and get their marching orders, but there is no way that they are going to let the blame rest where it correctly belongs - on their rampant, hate filled campaign against President Trump.
WEll I just watched Paul Ryan make a beautiful speech about how we are all one today and we are together, and I wanted to tell him to go to hell - that's how cynical I've become. Now nancy pelosi is talking about the same stuff, albeit almost incomprehensibly, and I want to throw my show at the TV. (Of course I've only worn flip flops for the last 2 years, so I can't.)
Thanks, Frau. Man Booker award *and* a prominent NYTBR placement? I can't believe one of the participants hasn't shriekingly demanded that we tackle that.
Congress has used this event to take another vacation? Far be it from our elected representatives to get busy doing some WORK for their pay and perks!

Headpiece filled with straw. Alas!
Our dried voices, when
We whisper together
Are quiet and meaningless
As wind in dry grass
Or rats' feet over broken glass
In our dry cellar
Shape without form, shade without colour,
Paralysed force, gesture without motion;"
Welcome to Washington.

He claimed it TWICE at the news conference before some reporter corrected him.
Think about how out of touch someone has to be to even let that come out of his lips.
Seems like it's time to do something as apparently the lefty revolution has clearly started.

I had to run out for a second.
henry, thanks for the archive link, which is now being overloaded and I can't get in.

On my way out the door, I spied "Rachel Maddow for President" group on that Facebookie lookin screencap.
Why would anyone vote for somebody who's intellect has all the force of a cow staring at a new gate?
Posted by: Account Deleted | June 14, 2017 at 12:17 PM
I wasn't clear. On the shooters page it said "people you know who follow this account." The page is of his other people who followed the shooter, of which there were only 90.

Kev, read his letters to the editor linked above. He has the IQ of the pile growing behind that cow.

There's been a report one deceased in VA. Hoping it's the shooter.

OL, it was a 6 AM practice for a charity game that happens every year. Any time any member of Congress is not "getting things done" is A-OK with me.

(I hate to load up the new thread--boundless gratitude to our host TM--but this is for CH who may have been one of first to make for the exit.)
CH -
The bestselling, Man Booker Prize-winning novel hailed as "a true achievement.

Dave "OL, it was a 6 AM practice for a charity game that happens every year."
OK, even I won't complain about a 6am practice. Even by my crazy expectations, that is their own time...
Thanks for the detail, Dave.

Sanders is already on backpeddle... the shooter was a volunteer for him in Iowa. (it is a tradition for IL voters to cross state lines for voting).

The entire group of them are ridiculous.

Ryan "we are all together" because doing something about people who are trying to kill us all "is not who we are."

No, we are not all one. The Left is doing its best to assure that. The common values are no longer common. The comity and tolerance that has marked our political culture has been abused.
This is all right out of Alinsky and the Bolshevik playbook.
They have dialed it to 11. Blood is now on their hands.
