Morning, how about bacon?

Daddy, you have email from our Chicago lurker.

Jim Eagle

16 innings, not 18.

In case you haven't seen this, they have found David Brook's friend:)

Between this and hilarious HuffPo does Trump country, the elites are dumbshits and need more ridicule than admiration.

James D.

McCain in hospital following blood clot removal from above his eye.

If he would only retire - not only from the Senate, but from public life entirely, never to be interviewed or quoted ever again - I would wish him a long and happy and healthy retirement. Because I can be kind and forgiving. Sometimes.

But since he won't, I will not wish him long life, happiness or health.

Jim Eagle

I don't see any bagels on Chris McKendry's table but those donuts and cinnabons look very tempting.

This site hasn't forgotten the Never Trumpers.

Wonderful Pieces, Clarice. As always. And also as always, thank you!

Great pieces clarice

Clarice Feldman

Thanks. I have the ebst research team right here.

Here's an interesting observation from David Goldman (Spengler):

Hostility to Trump is all about Islam. Trump won the primaries by proposing a travel ban which, according to all polls, had the support of a majority of Americans. The Europeans want a great civilizational compromise with Islam, and Trump is a disrupter. The neo-cons want to create Muslim democracy and Trump has tossed them out with yesterday's newspaper. The feigned outrage over Russia is also about Islam: Trump wants a deal with Russia to contain Islamic terrorism; the neo-cons see a democratized Muslim world as an ally against Russia. The CIA had a huge investment in "moderate Syrian rebels" and the Obamoilds had a huge investment in giving Iran a seat at the table. Trump has overturned the table. This is too simple, but it's not.

Thomas Collins

JiB, I believe the 18 innings TM was referring to is today's doubleheader.

pagar, a bacon, ham and sausage supporter

Speaking of joking, anyone who voted for these two must have been.

There,is certainly some of that, paradoxically most of those who were for status quo re Iraq are more proislamists now

"Morning, how about bacon?"

Just finished cooking the eggs, bacon and biscuits.

Wimped out on trying to make gravy again. It just never works for me.

The truly amazing thing is seeing a 13 year old and 15 year come down the stairs before 11 AM.

I attribute it to the power of bacon.

After watching the melt-down of Max Boot on Tucker's show, coupled with the continuing poisonous comments of Egg McMuffin, Bill Kristol, and Jonah Goldberg on Twitter (also Stephen Hayes, lest I forget), I think that comment makes a lot of sense.

McMullin seems to post based on the idea that Russia is a sinister enemy and Trump is treasonous. He has past ties to the CIA.

Kristol and Goldberg seem to have this idea that Trump is a nascient dictator and also rather stupid. I would put them in the neo-con Islamic democracy camp. (They never did explain how democracy would come to places like Saudi Arabia.)

As you know, I follow Thomas Wictor on Twitter. He has lots of interesting videos from Iraq and Syria, and one thing he thinks is happening is that uniting the various Iraqi tribes and groups to drive out ISIS (whom all groups hate) they are forging in fire a national identity. I hope that's true and time will tell, but it's an interesting thought and runs counter to the rather patronizing attitude many of the pundits (including those I named here) seem to have.

"Shades of Fort Darcy Park, Batman !!"

WASHINGTON -- Klaus Eberwein, a former Haitian government official who was expected to testify against alleged Clinton Foundation corruption and malpractice next week, has been found dead in Miami via gunshot wound to the head.

The death was ruled a suicide. Eberwein was 50 and reportedly told acquaintances he feared for his life for his fierce criticism of the Clinton Foundation.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

The Reddit kids didn't know there was a "Clinton Body Count" list long before Hillary was named Secretary of State.

I made sure they knew. They are now keeping track.

Why do I say this because many like Paul pillar and that other twit, the co-author of the israeli lobbu who should be for trump is not.

Old Lurker

And yet...Global Warming is a strategic threat in Pentagon policy, not to mention all of its tentacles in life and economics.

Steve Bannon is a Catholic, for goodness sake, and gave a talk at The Vatican a few years ago!

Clarice Feldman

right, narciso. I think someimes people just can't admit error and keep compounding it.

Clarice Textiles. [previous thread]

Thank you. I’m glad. Should be interesting. I thought she was going to go into excess.

Have you seen Fernaud Braudel’s first volume, Structures of Everyday Life? Of the “annales” school, scanning the first book covers 400 years of European history in a way few before him had considered.

This is the talk Steve Bannon gave to the group at the Vatican. It's very interesting and by the way, he's not naive about Putin.

Clarice Feldman

Putin preferred Hillary

The ABC/Washington Post Poll, even though almost 40% is not bad at this time, was just about the most inaccurate poll around election time!

Clarice Feldman

I haven't ,SBW.

Another Obama scheme goes up in smoke:

U.S. Officials Withdraw From Australian Refugee Resettlement/Relocation Scheme…

Clarice Feldman

Actually, SBw, I believe I did read it years ago, and have saved it. IIRC he goes into the remarkable story of the Fugger family--the first international business operation--

Clarice, don’t buy the Braudel books but read about them.

Clarice Feldman

I have both volumes. I think economic history is too much neglected with emphasis being placed on "great men", and not enough on all the details of of commerce and its impact on events.
Now, for example, when too many envision non-existent Russian tanks riding across the Hungarian Plains and not enough on the fact that the country is broke and needs oils and gas to replenish its coffers and to strangle its neighbors who need oil and gas.

Jane (Stand against the Coup)

Putin preferred Hillary

That was obvious from the beginning. Putin walked all over Obama and knew he could continue that trek under Hillary.

I hope Trump has a plan.

We cross-posted. Glad you are familiar w/ it.

Amazingly here in the Hotel Room they have FOX, so I just caught the last half of Maria Bartiromo doing the Sunday FOX Show. If they could keep her doing it and fire Chris Wallace I might start watching it as a regular routine all over again.

Now it's Howie Kurtz, so I am happy to turn him off and head out on the town with the usual suspects.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

If you read down through that talk Bannon gave to a group at the Vatican, you come across this:

"You know, Putin’s been quite an interesting character. He’s also very, very, very intelligent. I can see this in the United States where he's playing very strongly to social conservatives about his message about more traditional values, so I think it's something that we have to be very much on guard of. Because at the end of the day, I think that Putin and his cronies are really a kleptocracy, that are really an imperialist power that want to expand. However, I really believe that in this current environment, where you're facing a potential new caliphate that is very aggressive that is really a situation — I'm not saying we can put it on a back burner — but I think we have to deal with first things first."

This talk was given in 2014. Bannon is the chief strategist for Trump. There is absolutely zero reason to think Trump doesn't have a plan and doesn't know what Putin is up to.

Katie Pavlich on Kurtz's Show says it is now a question of "What did the President know..."

I don't think Katie ever got over her misplaced anger in supporting Michelle Fields in the fictional Cory Lewandowski assault narrative.

the elites are dumbshits and need more ridicule than admiration.

Here's one OpEd piece that deserves hearty ridicule:

Summary: CA mom sends snowflake daughter to Texas for grad school. Is very concerned about knuckle-dragging, heartless Texans who carry guns and have signs about salvation.

So where did daughter go? To Austin of all places! That's not even Texas.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

I don't keep track of Iranian internal politics, so this may indicate something or just be corruption as usual.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

I think this got posted a couple of days ago, but I wanted to post again and highlight this quote:

“I did months of painstaking research on my book. Her version looks like a ninth-grade homework assignment,” he vented to The Post. “I am in disbelief.”

I tried watching FNS and it was completely intolerable.

Wallace offers a defense for Comey poor behavior in leaking info while interviewing Jay Sekulow.

"But he got fired!"

Jay countered with, "so you think a tell all book from Comey is a good idea?"

Wallace says, "I ask the questions and you answer them." At which point Jay essentially shut up.

Gorka seems to be the only guy following the Ray Kroc Principle:

If any of my competitors were drowning, I'd stick a hose in their mouth and turn on the water.

Instead, Jay let up.

Panel is up next. Zeke Emanuel is one of the preferred 4??

Not going to listen.

I'm in the ATL JimNorCAl. Was just noting that I went to a concert that was NOT overrun with wafting weed smoke (in fact it was more apt to be overrun with Ben Gay wafting from the ancient rockers there- with their kids and grandkids) and still got the munchies...

It occurs to me that Clarice's column, in addition to the fabulous picture of the Reese's bag, needs a tagline. Isn't it what all fashionable newspapers/columnists have?

Just thinking outside the box, but if Bezos can have "Democracy Dies in Darkness," Clarice's most excellent and more informative Pieces surely rates a tagline.

I'll start: "Your weekly Chocolate ration that really is more filling."

Kinda wordy... hmm.

"Non Governmental Chocolate Rations for the well informed."

Still kinda wordy...

daddy on Alan's page

Homie Kurtz agrees with one of his panelists that even though none of whatever Trump Jr did was not in any way illegal, that is not a good excuse.

Let that roll around in your head a moment.

Then he agrees with Katie Pavlich that the story next week will be "What did the President know and when did he know it."

Why even trot out Democrats when you've already got so many Repub's doing their dirty work for them

Switched to Meet the Press.

Holy shit.

Some old tramp steals Janet's thoughts and screws it up royaly.

"Think of how much government time and money have been spent on this and the valuable things this country could be doing instead, but Trump."

She blamed Trump.

Jane's Coup Quash needs to start with a coordinated effort against the advertisers that are on during the worst of these shows.

A real shutdown effort.

Reading Clarice's 'Pieces' this morning, also her comments today, plus Miss Marple's comments here this morning, I feel quite grateful for Tom Maguire and Just One Minute, these two ladies, and all of the supporting players. :) This blog is unique and intelligent. Thank all of you.

Let's ask Frederick what he thinks.

Lately the news of the Muslim invasion of Europe makes me nauseated, and I mean in a sick way, not outrage. Since the summer we saw the torrents of Muslim men (think 2014) I've been angry and puzzled about this, but now I'm truly just sickened, just watching and envisioning the future. And, wondering, WHY so many fools-- welcoming fools--across this globe don't see the danger either. Reading this Roger Simon column, plus the Cheryl Benard National Interest article continues to confirm my outrage.

"Oslo in particular is a bizarre experience. The port is super modern and gorgeous, splendid apartments of the most up-to-date architecture overlooking the cruise ships and yachts. The streets are lined with smart cafes and shops you might see on Rodeo Drive or the Via Condotti. There's a modern opera house to rival Sydney's.

"But walk a little further and it's a different story. Heading up hill toward the Munch Museum, you begin to enter the Third World. The faces stare at you with hostile looks as you pass, as if you are intruding on their territory. Yesterday, according to someone traveling with me, a group of Muslims started chanting in a local park and attempted to raise an Islamic flag over the city hall. It was pulled down immediately, she said.

"I wondered what Norway's renowned painter Edvard Munch would have thought. Was this worth a silent scream, like his famous painting? Was a combination of guilt from World War II and North Sea oil riches destroying his country, now one of the wealthiest in the world? It certainly looked that way. What happened to those marauding vikings, forever at war with each other? At least they were willing to protect their own cultures. These days they are objects of curiosity, or simply tourist attractions, their boats preserved as museum pieces in both Oslo and Stockholm, yet another similarity between the two cities."

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Europe has very little time to reverse things. Italy is overwhelmed, Germany is in denial, and I think France is fed up but it remains to be seen if Macron will act or acquiesce to Merkel's wishes.

It may be that the Sons of Norway and the German-American societies and such end up preserving European culture here, as a relic of a civilization past.

Very sad.

And the Pope is not helping!!

Just subjected to an hour or so of CNN at Detroit Metro. UNBELIEVABLE!!!
They actually had a segment titled something like "trump's World" where they they "analyzed the truthfulness of FakeNews or his tweets or something...

Elaborating on the earlier point:

David, Internet Deplorable

So, this morning Instapundit links to a piece where Andrew McCarthy, wearing his concerned face, concernedly strokes his chin, and in a deep, concerned voice, intones, "This whole Russian thing is very concerning."

Why does anyone ever listen to Andrew "Fitzpatrick is an honest prosecutor, not a partisan hack, swearsies!" McCarthy ever again? His track record on the declarations of the goodwill and honesty of nakedly partisan prosecutorial shills is so poor as to be laughable. For awhile when I cared what NRO actually said, I would try and take the time to sign into the comments of his articles and remind everyone of his hilariously wrong-headed championship of so many Democratic operatives with law degrees and ask why we should listen to a single word the fucktard said.

Once NRO revealed itself to be just as deep into the swamp as anyone else, I stopped bothering, but really, why would anyone give Andy McCarthy, in particular, the time of day. Didn't he recently opine on the goodwill and general solidness of Mueller and Comey? In general, a totally idiotic person whose views are worse than a waste of time.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

I am right there with you. He's why I pretty much gave up on local talk radio, because the hosts of the two morning programs consistently interview him, Noah Rothman, and some others who are basically either Never Trump or clueless. Their go-to interview people are stuck in the pattern of 10years ago.

Captain Hate

Panel is up next. Zeke Emanuel is one of the preferred 4??

Not going to listen.

I just read the transcript. If I followed correctly what that ghoul said, he wants people who develop a condition to be able to not have health insurance until they find out they have something serious, then get it while paying the same amount as everybody else. That destroys the concept of insurance risk pools. The only way that could be actuarially sound would be to have current rates reflect the present value of the cost of adding all those future people but just spread out over current participants. Current participants would be grossly penalized while the deadbeats, who are the only people Kevorkian Junior seems to care about, get off scot free.

Stephanie Puppy Pincushion extraordinaire

LOL DrJ. that would confuzzle libs for sure.

Let's face it, this 10-15 minute nothingburger meeting is the genesis of and the entirety of this Russian collusion mania.

Eshewing Obfuscation!

I first saw that on a clipboard in a physics lab in 1964 (AZState).

We had coffee with A(bub)'s doctor son over on Whidbey yesterday. Great meet up. He doesn't read JOM, but would fit right in. He's an ER specialist and mostly gets stuff like balled up motorcycle riders given the NAS next door. (Noticed a lot of hot cars rolling by, as well.) Used to work in Motown where several bullets had to be extracted every night.

BTW the airstrip over there is nuts. We'd ridden in there on local commuter flights a couple times years ago, but first time in our bird. It was gusting down the runway abut 20 kts, but the strip is about 2 ft wider that our gear stance and that made for a fair pucker factor.

He needs to #DestroyCNN.

CNN is doing a fine job of that already.

Thanks for your fine "Pieces," Clarice.

Frederik, my buddy in Copenhagen is the perfect stereotypical Viking. Blond, blue-eyed, 6' 5". World ranked power lifter. If there was ever a guy that looks the "badass" part, it is him. Educated as a lawyer, married to a physician and has 2 boys, ages 6 and 2.

He is a conservative who is an outspoken critic of Scandinavian socialism. As a small business owner, he has often told me about the challenges he faces on a continuous basis in Denmark's regulatory and tax climate. Ugly to say the least.

But he has also told me that he sticks out like a sore thumb in a culture that has institutionalized political correctness. Furthermore, he thinks he only reason he gets away with speaking his mind because he has such an intimidating presence.

I don't have much hope for the Scaninavians either.
